In The Sims 2 , The Sims Stories , The Sims 3 and The Sims 4 , children and teens get homework on school days. Homework comes in the form of a school notebook, with differing covers depending on the student's life stage [ TS2 ] [ TS4 ] and the number of days that have passed. [ clarification needed ] [ TS2 ] Homework can be completed at a desk or on the floor, and will usually take a Sim hour to complete. Failing to complete homework generally results in bad grades. In The Sims 4: Discover University , students young adult and above are also given homework after each class.

The Sims 2 and The Sims Stories [ ]
In The Sims 2 and The Sims Stories , children and teens will have homework in their hands after they get off the school bus. If possible, they will put the assignment on or by a desk, and seem to prefer the first desk that was placed in the house, even if it is in an illogical or inaccessible location. [n 1] If a student has unfinished homework, he or she will put the new homework on top of it. The player can tell the student to put the homework down by canceling the "Go to School" icon. Homework can be moved in buy and build modes, though it cannot be sold. A child's homework will be brightly colored, while a teen's homework will be plainly colored.
Clicking on the homework gives the child or teen an option to complete it or ask an older Sim for help. An older household member, when the homework is clicked, can offer help with finishing the homework. A child or teen who is being helped with homework will finish it faster, and will gain the memory of being taught to study . This will fulfill the "Ask for Homework Help" want , and will allow them to do homework more quickly in the future. If Seasons is installed, students will do homework faster in the fall , or after drinking apple juice .
Sims can do homework while seated at a desk or sitting down on the ground. There does not appear to be any difference in completion speed depending on how the Sim is seated. If Apartment Life is installed, Sims cannot do homework that is placed in an apartment 's communal area.
Sims will not usually get distracted while doing homework, unless their motives are low. They are more likely to get distracted if they are being helped by an older Sim. It is usually best to ensure that both the student and the mentor are in a good mood prior to beginning the interaction, and that no other interactions are in their queue until the homework has been completed.
There is no time limit on completing homework, but doing (or not doing) homework will affect a student's grades. A student who goes to school in a good mood with all homework done will gain a better grade. Students will not be penalized for going to school with one piece of incomplete homework, but going to school with more than one piece of incomplete homework may cause their grades to drop. [n 2]
Sims may have a want to do homework. This want will be fulfilled when they complete a piece of homework. This want will be fulfilled even if the homework they complete belongs to another Sim.
Young adults in college do not receive homework, but can optionally do assignments in order to improve their class performance.
If a teen has unfinished homework when he or she is sent to college or becomes an adult , it will disappear.
The Sims 3 [ ]
Two child Sims completing their homework.
On school days, children and teens will come home with homework in their inventory . This is unlike The Sims 2 and The Sims Stories , where they would place the homework down. They can simply "Do Homework" on their own, "Do Homework With..." another friend of their age group, or "Get Help From" an older Sim on the lot. Sims can also do someone else's homework, or copy someone's homework if that person already did it, although this can cause after school detention. Sims may stop doing homework if they are hungry , tired, have the "Stressed" moodlet, or have a low bladder meter. Sims with bookworm and workaholic traits, as well as logic skill get homework done faster, and the library is a good place to study. The level of logic skill does not increase the rate of finishing homework; only one skill point in Logic is necessary. In Supernatural , vampires also do homework faster than normal Sims, and witches may magically finish it in a matter of seconds with a chance of being Singed . Homework is a hidden skill.
Students who skip homework or do not complete it on time will receive a bad mark in the Homework area of their school performance (This can be found in the 'School' section of the Simology panel) and may get detention. Students who complete their homework on time get a good mark in this section. However, homework can be finished while at school using the "Work on Late Homework" option. However, if the teacher catches them, they may get an after school detention. Good students grow up to be good adults, so it is important that young Sims maintain good grades. If a Sim has an A when they age up, the player will be able to choose his or her next trait. [n 3]
In Generations , children can bury their homework in the sandbox, but will receive a bad grade for doing so.
The Sims 4 [ ]
A teen doing homework in The Sims 4 .
Once Sims become a child or teen on-screen, they will automatically receive a homework book appropriate for their life stage in their inventory, whether or not they have attended school in the past. Children will have a yellow book labeled "Grade School Homework" while teens will receive a blue book simply labeled "Homework". When a student receives a B or above from school, they will be given the option "Do Extra Credit" if they have finished the homework by clicking again on their individual homework books. If a student receives a D or below they can "Do Make Up Work" which works functionally the same as "Do Extra Credit". Children have the ability to receive help from adults. Unlike previous games, children who neglect their homework still have a fair shot at keeping their school performance high by completing other tasks such as maintaining certain moods or building skills. If a player's Sim misplaces a homework book or ages up to a child or teen off-screen, they can purchase a new homework book for §1 from a bookcase, or simply use another Sim's homework book. Unlike previous games, a homework book is not tied to a particular Sim.
If all four of a child Sim's skills ( creativity , mental , motor , social ) are at least level 3, "Do Homework" changes to "Breeze Through Homework", meaning the Sim is already skilled and can complete the homework more quickly. With all four skills at level 7, this changes again to "Dominate Homework," and the homework can be completed even more quickly. This speed boost is not available to teen Sims.
Homework is given to young adult sims and older in The Sims 4: Discover University . Students must complete homework before every class to achieve high grades. Although failure to do so may impact a sim’s performance at university, homework is not essential. Sims that miss their homework can make up for it by studying extra hours, or edit their term papers to be outstanding quality. However to get the highest grades, it is recommended that university students finish homework before each class.
Like with school homework, a new university homework book can be purchased from any bookcase or university kiosk. Homework of any type can be completed 50% faster on lots with the “Study Spot” lot trait .
- ↑ A mod on Mod The Sims remedies this issue by forcing Sims to place their homework at a player-defined location, rather than at random.
- ↑ Grades are adjusted according to the amount of incomplete homework remaining on the lot, and not whether the homework was actually completed. Thus, players can simply delete homework using the moveobjects cheat or have a pet destroy it, and Sims will not be penalized for it.
- ↑ If the School is deleted, then the player will get to choose their next trait if the Sim was in a Good Mood.

Sunrader Sims — Simler90's Homework Mod Maxis-time and Faster
See, that’s what the app is perfect for..
Sunrader Sims
Simler90’s homework mod maxis-time and faster.
Simler90 released a mod recently that works very well for getting sims to autonomously place their homework on desks or tables.
However, simler90′s mod also makes learning to study harder and homework take more time. I didn’t want the difficulty and time differences, so I tweaked the mod to put back the Maxis times and difficulty. Some simmers, though, also use a Faster Homework mod by Dave Luv , so I made another version that incorporates that mod. So if you like the placement feature and want Maxis times, use that mod. If you want faster, use the other, and if you have it, you can remove Dave Luv’s because it’s not needed anymore. I recommend using the placement mod with monique’s Auto Do Homework if you like autonomy. Simler90′s mod requires AL and M&G.
UPDATE: Simler90 has now released a placement only version of the mod which, I assume, would function the same as the Maxis tweak version. I’ll leave this here for the Faster tweak.

It's me again. Is it easy to change the zombies to aliens in your apocalypse mod? What do I need to do in Simpe?
I’m not sure, but not just an easy switch. Maybe your zombies could link like aliens?
tanjavda asked:
Hi. In your Veronaville with townies post, you mention you created a new hood forcing the game to add the Veronaville townies. I was wondering how you did that, if you don't mind sharing. I think I have an idea, but I'm not sure. Thanks in advance.
You know how the vanilla game always adds the Pleasantview townies to a new hood from the template in the game files unless you rename N001 so it can’t find it? You use that dynamic, rename a veronaville template to N001, putting in the game files, so that when a new one is created it uses it for townies. That’s the basic idea, just be careful to backup your original files and such. I think I posted about this on my site or on mts sometime…. you might find more there now that you know what to look for.
Are you still modding? Would it be possible to do an alien apocalypse where everyone turn into bizarre alien creatures? Imagine creating a hood full of superheroes and then throwing in a big alien invasion and have it spread at a rapid speed. That would be awesome. I can already picture a suburban family and their neighbors fending off martians.
I’m not modding Sims right now, but fiwere I would do this using the zombie apocalypse mod I made while either changing them from zombies or faking the game out by making zombies look like aliens.
engagementscenario asked:
Would you be interested in making over the university neighbourhoods? Or at least, safely populating Katatty's makeovers with the original Sims?
sunradersimblr answered:
Not to makeover (I have been deeply involved in modding a different game lately) but I will look at Katatty’s and see what putting the original Sims in would involve. I think it should be easy but you never know with Sims!
Hi, I know this took ages, but like I said, not modding sims much these days. I don’t have a good way to test this myself, so thought you might want to if you still want it (of course, anyone is free to try it). Here is U001 turned into Katatty’s KSSU. So it is literally a U001 hood (Sim State Uni) with Katatty’s lots but with all the Sims and the Secret Society lot from the original Maxis. I’ve done nothing else to Katatty’s lots or to the Maxis hood, so any errors that existed in those are still there. Use it to replace a U001 or a KSSU hood. It has the same IDNO as Katatty’s original empty one. If it works, I don’t mind doing the others if they are wanted. Lemme know how it goes!
77pxl asked:
hiya. does your hobby subhood come with the bin families and if so, is there a version where they don't?
apologies if this has been asked before.
The bin families are not in the hobby hood, but the hobby mavens are. Are you looking for an empty hobby hood or just trying to avoid the bin families? There are no bin families in mine or any of them, afaik.
simsfan128 asked:
Hello. Have you ever tried using the vampire neck biting animation for zombies? I love the mod animation in Sims 4 where zombies "eat" their victims before they turn into zombies. Kinda wish they have that in Sims 2. I'm a huge fan of Horror stuff. If I knew a way to make NPCs, I would make Ghostface and Micheal Myers, and have them stalk/kill sims autonomously in a hood.
I haven’t don’t much at all with animation. They do attack and eat brains autonomously in my mod but it’s the fight animation as pescado used. Good idea though!
pineapplecakes77 asked:
Hi Sunrader. I have some creative ideas to start off a TS2 zombie apoclaypse: Create a spilled toxic waste barrel. Have sims autonomously play in the toxic puddle to create your first zombie. Create a radioactive meteorite object and have a sim get near it to become a zombie. Btw, I wonder if there is a way to do a vampire version?
Fun ideas. I remember that I was planning to use vampires before I tweaked the zombies, but don’t remember the issues. I’m sure some of our modders could, though.

Hi Sunrader! Do you have an autonomous campfire working download link? The one on the Tumblr from May 11, 2019 doesn't have a file. Love your creations! Thank you for posting them.
It’s on sunradersims.com. can’t link right now, but you will find it there!

Game Help:School
All sim children start out in public school, but can go to private school if they've got at least a C+. See Private School Guide for more information.
All sim children start out with a C. Doing homework and going to school every day brings the grades up. And every day they bring home a report card. There are consequences for bad grades. Teens with a C- or lower cannot get a job. A teen with an F will be fired and if a child gets an F it must be raised within one day or the social worker will take them away. Permanently.
Unless you use a hack sim children and teens bring home homework every day. Some sims will place it on the floor others will put it on just about any other available surface. HINT Pay attention to where they put it and then move it to their bedroom. Homework is very easily lost. It can disappear under rugs and/or sink into the surface of custom tables that are too tall. Sometimes they even leave it outside.
Parents, grand-parents, and teen siblings can help with homework. Make sure everyone is in a good mood first or the homework won't get done the first time around. It not only goes faster when someone helps they learn how to study. Once they've learned how to study all future homework gets done a little faster. To initiate the scenario click on the homework and select ask (insert sim name here)for homework help. The child sim will sit on the floor (or at a table) and open their homework while the older sim has a homework though bubble while helping. The sims progress in learning to study isn't itself observable; the progress bar refers to the homework completion, not the process of learning to study. If the older sim began helping at the start of the day's homework and stayed through to the end, the progress of the homework and learn to study will be the same Once the sim has learned to study a memory marks the achievement; look in the simology>memory panel to confirm this.
Private School Guide
Sims begin school automatically enrolled in public school. They can, however, switch from public to private if desired. Private school doesn't cost any money and the rewards are significant, but the admissions process is pretty demanding.
Private is different from public school in that:
- Private school students starting a teen career track begin at level 2
- Hours for teens are from 9am - 1pm. Children get out at the same time (3pm).
- Performance rewards are skill increases rather than money.
- Spending a day at private school has less of an effect on Sims' needs, so they'll come home less depleted and more prepared to start an after-school job. Comfort is actually replenished.
- They were special uniforms
Getting Into Private School
To get students into private school, families must do two things:
- There must be at least one child on the lot with C or better grades.
- Sims must have the school's headmaster over for a dinner party and sufficiently impress him/her.
Any child or older Sim on the lot (with C or better grades) can summon the headmaster via the Invite Headmaster interaction on the telephone. If no one has sufficient grades, the headmaster will decline. If the call is made before 5pm, he/she will arrive at 5pm. If the call is made after that, the headmaster will come the next day.
When the headmaster arrives, he must be greeted within one hour (by 6pm) or he'll leave. Greeting him starts the scenario: you have 6 hours to impress him. Doing this requires three tasks:
- Serve good food
- Give a tour
Each of these three tasks earns points toward the winning score of 100 points. It may help to buy some objects for the headmaster scenario (hot tubs, art objects, etc) and then just return them before midnight for a full refund.
Serve Good Food
Good food is an important part of the meal, so it helps to have a Sim with high cooking skills. A meal should be prepared by a Sim with five cooking skills or higher. Of course the higher the cooking skill, the more points the meal will earn. Ruined meals will score badly no matter the cooking level so make sure you leave some time to start a meal over in the event of a mishap.
When the food is served, click on the headmaster, choose "Entertain" and select "Call for Dinner." This tells the headmaster to have a serving and will result in the final food score.
The Giving Tour part of the process is based on the Environment of every room shown on the tour (possibly including outside). Make sure the house is clean and do what you can to boost the Environment score in every room before the headmaster shows up.
Giving the tour:
- Click on the headmaster and choose "Entertain," then "Give Tour".
- Direct the Sim giving the tour to the room with the highest Environment score. The headmaster will follow.
- Click the headmaster and select "Show Room." The headmaster gives a score based on the room's environment and this is added to tour points.
- Move on to more high Environment rooms and repeat the process.
With the outside, take the headmaster to a place where the score is high - near trees, statues, flowerbeds, outdoor lights, etc. Watch your own Sim's Environment score to help pick the right spot. Indoors, position your Sim near light fixtures before showing the room. (Having a Sim close to a light source will boost the Environment score).
If you've shown every room in the house (including the outside) without reaching 40 or more points, click on the headmaster and choose "End Tour." This closes the tour points scoring.
The family's ability to socially interact with the headmaster is reflected in the schmooze score. Every time any Sim raises the headmaster's daily relationship score, points are added. So chat it up and if he engages in a fun, group activity, get as many Sims as possible to join him. The more Sims he establishes a good daily relationship with, the better the schmooze score.
Bonus Scoring
There are a few interactions that will bring extra scoring opportunities:
- Getting in the hot tub
- Drinking coffee
- Having drinks from the bar
If any Sim in the household does any of these interactions, the headmaster should follow - as long as he's not already doing something else. Each bonus scores 10 extra points, but can only be scored once.
Winning the Scenario
When you get up to 100 points (by whatever combination), the scenario ends and the headmaster informs you that the family has been accepted. Any student in the family with grades C or better will go to private school on the next school day.
If time runs out before the 100 points are earned, the headmaster will be somewhat snooty and inform the family that they don't make the cut. You can invite him back the next day and try again.

I thought, wouldn't working together on homework be more fun? And what if you learn a bit of logic from it? Well, I made a mod that makes doing homework together fun, and gives both children and teens a bit of logic!
There have been faster homework mods previously, but none are compatible with pets or the latest patch (the homework XML was modified in the Pets patch), so I have made my own. I only edited the base completion rate, so all bonuses or deductions for mood, age, traits, etc. are still the same.
