BTEC National Level 3 Travel and Tourism 2010 Unit 15: Working as a Holiday RepresentativeUnit 15 Assignment – Working as a Holiday Representative IntroductionThis assignment is made up of 4 tasks which, when successfully completed, are designedto give you sufficient evidence to meet the Pass (P), Merit (M) and Distinction (D) gradingcriteria for the unit. If you have carried out the activities and read the case studiesthroughout this unit in the accompanying textbook, you will already have done a lot of worktowards completing the tasks for this assignment. ScenarioSince completing your BTEC course you have worked in a Birmingham hotel for 15months on reception duties. You feel that the time is right to make a career move and youhave applied for a job as an overseas resort representative with one of the major holidaycompanies. You put in an excellent application and have been invited to an interview andselection day at the company’s head office. During the day, you are asked to complete anumber of tasks to assess your suitability for the job. The first two tasks involve making apresentation and writing a short report, while tasks 3 and 4 are role plays involving otherapplicants for the representative jobs.Task 1For this task you must make a presentation to the selection panel and the rest of theapplicants in which you must:a. Describe the roles, duties and responsibilities for three different categories of holiday representatives, highlighting changing roles and working practices (P1). This must include one type of resort representative, e.g. property, over 50s, 18-30s, holiday village or villa, plus two others selected from ski, transfer, children’s and campsite representative. For each category the roles, duties and responsibilities for each holiday representative must be written in your own words and should highlight the holiday representatives’ responsibilities in relation to the customer, to the organisation, and to suppliers. It is not sufficient to provide bulleted lists of roles, duties and responsibilities, nor should you simply reproduce job descriptions that have been provided by tour operators. Changing roles and working practices, such as the introduction of in-resort customer service centres, should be highlighted in your presentation.b. Compare the roles, duties and responsibilities for one category of representative with two different tour operators (M1). The comparison must draw upon similarities and differences of representatives within the two organisations and, depending on the tour operators selected, could provide scope for demonstrating new working practices that have been introduced.c. Analyse how the current and changing roles, duties and responsibilities of holiday representatives can contribute to the overall holiday experience (D1). You must use analytical skills to show the contribution of representatives, for example in fulfilling the tour operator’s legal obligations and meeting and exceeding customer expectations© Travel and Tourism Publishing Ltd. 2010 www.tandtpublishing.co.uk 21 BTEC National Level 3 Travel and Tourism 2010 Unit 15: Working as a Holiday Representative when carrying out specific duties. You must consider the role of the holiday representative in relation to their responsibilities to the customer, the organisation and to suppliers, and could illustrate your answers by giving examples of how resort representatives can impact on the customers’ holiday experience. This task is designed to produce evidence for P1, M1 and D1. Task 2The first part of this task asks you to write a short report that could be read by your resortmanager. In the report you must:a. Outline the legal responsibilities of holiday representatives in each of the different holiday situations described below (P2).1. You are a Campsite Representative working on a campsite in the south of France. Acouple complain to you that their young child has fallen off the slide in the campsite andcut his arm on a rusty nail that was sticking out from one of the benches.2. You are a Resort Representative working for a major tour operator in Magaluf on theisland of Majorca. A young couple have complained that, although the tour operator’sbrochure states that there are two pools in their hotel, there is, in fact, only one.3. You are a Villa Representative on the Greek island of Corfu. The Smith family fromRochdale have complained that the hire car they booked in advance for their packageholiday was not available when they went to pick it up from Corfu Airport. The car hirecompany insisted that they had never received a booking for the Smiths from your holidaycompany and refused to hire them a vehicle.4. You are a Resort Representative in Benidorm and have received a complaint from twocustomers about the standard of the food in their hotel. They say that hot food is oftenserved only luke warm and that the gourmet nights described in the holiday company’sbrochure and on its website, have never taken place. For each situation, you must describe the procedures that the reps should go through totry to resolve the issues and identify the relevant laws or regulations that are associatedwith each case. For the next part of this task you are to produce a staff handbook in which you must:b. Explain the role played by holiday representatives in creating a safe and healthy holiday environment (P3). The handbook will include identification of risks and hazards in the holiday environment and the ways in which representatives can minimise these risks. This must include safety in the accommodation (including fire safety and hygiene), whilst using specific facilities, on transfer coaches, on excursions and organised activities, and in the resort itself. This task is designed to produce evidence for P2 and P3.© Travel and Tourism Publishing Ltd. 2010 www.tandtpublishing.co.uk 22 BTEC National Level 3 Travel and Tourism 2010 Unit 15: Working as a Holiday Representative Task 3The selection panel would like you to role play this task, in which you must:a. Use social, customer service and selling skills to deliver an arrival transfer speech, a welcome meeting and make a sale (P4). The transfer speech and welcome meeting can be simulated situations, but should be to an audience. You must provide a welcome, be delivered in a friendly way, use appropriate language, be appropriate for specific types of customers, create rapport and provide all information required for the situation. Customer-service skills must be evident throughout, including good product knowledge and awareness of customer needs. Appropriate standards of dress should be evident. The welcome meeting and transfer speech should adopt a planned and suitable structure and the content must be relevant to the audience. Amplified voice should be used for the transfer speech and natural voice for the welcome meeting. The pace and tone should be appropriate for listeners to absorb the information being given. In the welcome meeting, you may deal with queries, for example questions about excursions or the resort. Communication must be formal when giving important information to the group, but can be less formal when communicating directly with individuals. The welcome meeting must be supported by visual aids and appropriate body language should be demonstrated. The welcome meeting must incorporate the promotion of excursions, but you must separately sell at least one excursion to an individual or small group of customers in a role play situation.b. Demonstrate effective social, customer service and selling skills when delivering a transfer speech, welcome meeting and making a sale (M2).This task is designed to produce evidence for P4 and M2. Task 4The members of the selection panel have given you the following two customer servicesituations to deal with in role plays.a. You must use social and customer service skills to deal with the customers, completing appropriate documentation (P5).b. You must deal effectively with customers in different situations and accurately complete all relevant documentation (M3).c. You must consistently project a confident, professional image when carrying out resort activities and dealing with customers in different situations (D2).In all dealings you must create rapport, provide a welcome, empathise, be helpful andfriendly, use the appropriate choice of language and deal appropriately with differentcustomers in relation to ages and needs (e.g. upset, confused, angry). When dealing withthese situations appropriate documentation must be completed, including customer reportforms. Customer-service skills must be evident including displaying appropriate productknowledge, identifying customer needs, dealing with queries, listening skills and complainthandling.1. You are a Resort Rep in the Algarve and have been informed by some customers, Mrand Mrs Khan from Oldham, that their villa has been burgled and that they have lost alltheir possessions, including their passport, money, credit cards, keys for their hire car and© Travel and Tourism Publishing Ltd. 2010 www.tandtpublishing.co.uk 23 BTEC National Level 3 Travel and Tourism 2010 Unit 15: Working as a Holiday Representativeflight tickets home. Working as a Campsite Courier in Switzerland, the Green family from Norwich havecontacted you to complain about the dirty state that they found their mobile home in whenthey arrived this afternoon for their 10-day holiday. They are also very unhappy about thefact that the campsite does not have a children’s pool, as described in the holidaycompany’s brochure, and there are no bicycles for hire, as described on the company’swebsite. This task is designed to produce evidence for P5, M3 and D2.© Travel and Tourism Publishing Ltd. 2010 www.tandtpublishing.co.uk 24

welcome meeting speech holiday rep

do they ever tell you something you don't already know, or is it just a sales talk to sell you day trips etc?

I would highly recommend it for first time visitors - for repeat guests, well it certainly can be bypassed.

You are right when it comes to selling or promoting the tour packages - they certainly emphasize that a great deal.

I always like to obtain the local telephone number for the tour rep, just in case their is an issue that they should be aware of.

It did help us on one occasion, where they were able to support our claim after we returned to Toronto and informed the parent company back here.

Brooklin (Bubba King)

We have never been to one in years but I would agree that newer travellers should attend

if we return to a resort we dont go but if its a new resort for us we go to them to find out were some things are and find out some resort stuff we want to know ,but we leave before tour sales pitch

I always suggest to go to the welcome meeting as the Tour Representative explains the general rules of the resorts and gives out tips and advice for what to eat, what you should take care of (remember that you are going to a foreign country and that your body is use to differente kind of food and weather)...

Of course, like any other salesman they will try to sell you their excursions, which is totally understandable owing the fact they live on the commisions they make!

Our meeting was scheduled mid-morning of our first full day in PC.

Let's see...sunny beach and warm turquoise water vs. sitting indoors listening to a presentation....yeah, we didn't have to think too long about that one.

I'm sure we missed some potentially valuable info.

The first years I started travelling I did go to the meetings. I no longer bother. I get all my info before hand. There are folks who still go to a TA and just say "send me somewhere" without a clue where they are going. For those people I recommend going. If you've done your research well, asked questions in forums like this, the meeting is a waste of precious beach time.

Its a little of both, information great for 1st time

visitors after that sometimes the traveller knows

more it depends on the situation. Also good to put

a face and get a phone number in case of any

problems. cheers Tim

For new travellers to the resort/destination it is a must do....for seasoned travellers, a maybe if it cuts into your cervasa time.

Hi, we usually consider them a waste of time after doing a lot of research ahead of travel however this winter we will be staying in a larger resort complex than usual for us so it may be helpful.

Also if you have any issues that you need to talk to the rep about during your stay then you will be more familiar with them and them with you. re: some reps feel snubbed if you skip orientation and aren't as helpful if needed.

We allways go just as the meeting is ending. To say "hi" to the Rep.

Allways handy to know who they are "just in case".

When it comes to speeches , a lot of people, not only students but even employees and some employers, cringe or find the word scary. It does not have to be as long as you know what you are doing, how you are doing it, and what you are writing about. However, even with all that advice, there are still some people who do not want to be the center of making the speech and would want to find someone else to be able to do it. It goes without saying making a speech is the least worrisome thing you can do and you can present, especially if you know what you are talking about and what you are going to be presenting. If you know who your audience is, then making a speech is nothing short of a wonderful experience.

As we all know, there are a lot of kinds of speeches, and one is  a welcome speech . When we hear a welcome speech, we think of something as easy as welcoming someone. But, it is not as easy as simply welcoming a person or a group of people to the place or to the event. Making a welcome speech has its own tips to get you started, and it has its own details that you need to look forward to in learning. So with that being said, here are your 10+ examples of a welcome speech for a meeting.

What Is a Welcome Speech for a Meeting?

A welcome speech for a meeting is a kind of speech that is made useful to introduce , greet, and welcome important people or those who have higher influences in your company, group, or organization. This welcome speech caters to simply getting new people to be acquainted with the guests or the visitors. In addition to that, a welcome speech for a meeting is often only done when visitors like shareholders, managers, and governors are planning on attending an important event or an important meeting.

The purpose of a welcome speech is to introduce to the public or to the crowd the names of the people present. It is to welcome them to the event and to be able for them to know who the rest of the people present are. In addition to that, the use of a welcome speech is to introduce the purpose of the meeting, for the people present and for the general public.

How to Write a Welcome Speech for Meeting?

Making a speech may seem easy or difficult, depending on how you are going to look at it. But did you know that before you can make the speech, you have to write it down as well? If you think that is another difficult thing to do, think again. Here are some tips to help you get through that problem .

1. Remember to Take All Details into Account

The details of the welcome speech are basically the names of the people or the important people who are coming. This is the responsibility of the one who is assigned to make the welcome speech. Always make sure that all details needed are within your reach or that you already have them down as notes.

2. Write a Short Draft of Your Speech

Draft it out . It may sound as simple as that, and it really is, but to make a good welcome speech, one must at least learn to draft out what you need to say. Make sure that you know the theme, the people, the event, and the titles or the ranks of the important people, such as manager, the CEO, the president, etc.

3. Use Simple Words When Writing the Speech

If you think using difficult or unfamiliar jargon would impress your guests and audience, you may want to think again. Using jargon that is not familiar to everyone, in general, would only confuse them. Some may be able to understand it while others do not. To avoid this issue, it is best to use simple or commonly used words to write your speech. There are other ways to impress your guests, but using difficult words is not one of them.

4. Practice Pronouncing the Names of the Guests

Since this is a speech, the next best thing to do while you are also writing is to practice it out loud. Practice how you are going to say their names properly. Practicing helps by making you feel less nervous and less prone to forgetting the entire speech. In addition to that, by writing the names of your guests, you may also want to keep an eye on the spelling.

5. Revise If There Are Any Issues with It

Just as making the final output from the draft, it is always best to review, revise, and recheck if there are any issues you may have missed. Revising your work helps to maintain the flow of your speech.

What is a welcome speech for meeting?

A welcome speech is a kind of speech that anyone makes in order to welcome and introduce an important person to the company or an organization.

How do you write a good welcome speech for meeting?

To write a good welcome speech, all you have to do is to follow the steps found in the tips.

What should not be in a welcome speech?

A welcome speech is just a short speech to welcome people. What should not be in it is introducing every single person in the audience or writing a speech about you.

It goes without saying there is really nothing to fear when you are making or writing a speech. Writing a welcome speech is the easiest kind as all you have to do is to know who your honored guests are and the event you are going to be holding the speech in. In addition to that, writing a welcome speech only takes a few minutes especially when you already have a draft in mind. In this case, welcome speeches can be done by just about anyone: employees, students, teachers, and even employers. Anyone can write it; however, it takes good practice to write a very good welcome speech.

How to start a meeting on a positive note with a welcome speech for meeting

Writing a concise welcome speech for meeting

From holiday rep to travel industry leader

A man standing beside a display banner

Olly Nicholls explains how becoming a holiday rep and talking to lots of people helped with his stammer.

Hi, I'm Olly and I'm a husband, father, travel industry leader and CEO of one of the leading travel businesses in the UK. My journey to success was not easy. I struggled with my stammer throughout my childhood and adolescence, which affected my confidence and what I thought was my ability to communicate effectively.

I was frequently bullied at school due to my stammer, which made me feel isolated and alone. I also found it challenging to read in front of the class. This affected my academic performance and led to feelings of anxiety and frustration. I wasn't just bullied by my fellow classmates, but on occasions by teachers also. One French teacher told me to "Spit it out" as I tried to read a sentence in French from a textbook.

As I grew older, I became increasingly aware of how my stammer was impacting my life. I found it difficult to socialise with peers, speak in public and make presentations, which significantly impacted my confidence, self-esteem and career opportunities.

I stammered throughout the entire presentation, at one point being so anxious I thought I was about to pass out.

Interview success

Despite these challenges, I remained determined to succeed. I started my career as a holiday rep, which required me to interact with hundreds of people every day. On the day of the interview I was so nervous as I had to present for 20 minutes on a holiday destination of my choosing. I felt I was terrible; I stammered throughout the entire presentation, at one point being so anxious I thought I was about to pass out. It was only down to a guy called Brian North that I got through the interview. Later in life I asked Brian why he had given me the job. He said it was down to my perseverance and for not giving up, and also, he said, he could tell I had something special.

  • Get support for stammering at work

I arrived in Menorca in the Summer of 2002 and worked at Thomson Holidays' flagship hotel. My team leader Rachel had chosen me to join her team over 100 other potential reps. I thought she was crazy! Why pick the guy who was terrified of presenting or interacting? During that summer, Rachel and the team supported me every step of the way. They would pick me up when I thought it was too much and help me revise my welcome meeting script so that it was one less thing to be anxious about. The support she and the team gave me that first summer changed my life forever. That year we achieved the highest Customer Satisfaction Questionnaire result globally for Thomson Holidays and the highest level of sales. All from a kid who had a stammer.

Article continues below...

A man on a stage delivering a speech

This experience taught me to face my fears and push myself outside my comfort zone, gradually working on reducing the impact of my stammer. Over time, my career progressed and I became more confident in my abilities, working in various positions within the travel industry before becoming the CEO of Attraction World Group in 2019. However, whilst my career went in a positive direction my mental health remained scarred from years of undiagnosed anxiety.

That year we achieved the highest Customer Satisfaction Questionnaire result globally for Thomson Holidays and the highest level of sales. All from a kid who had a stammer.

What stammering's given me

My experience of becoming more confident with my stammer has given me a unique perspective on the importance of effective communication over fluency, and I have used this to my advantage in my career. I also strongly advocate raising awareness of stammering and reducing its stigma. My journey has also had a profound impact on my personal life, making me more empathetic and always willing to help others who are struggling with similar challenges.

To anyone who is struggling with a stammer or any other communication difficulty, I want to say that the biggest piece of advice I would give is to not let it hold you back. It's important to find ways to manage your stammer and your fears surrounding it, and build up your confidence. For me, moving overseas and speaking in front of large groups of people was the turning point, but it might be something different for someone else.

It's also important to remember that there is no shame in having a stammer. It's just a part of who you are and doesn't define you. And finally, don't be afraid to ask for help. There are lots of resources available, like speech and language therapy and support groups that can help you manage your stammer and your feelings about it. I even used to wear a ring that span in the middle so I would focus my energy on that rather than on my words.

But ultimately it's about embracing your stammer and turning it into your superpower. It has made me who I am today.

Travel and Tourism. For this task I will script a welcome meeting for two destinations, which will be Disneyland Paris, and Manhattan in New York.

Authors Avatar

For this task I will script a welcome meeting for two destinations, which will be Disneyland Paris, and Manhattan in New York.

Hello everybody, and first of all I would like to thank you for attending the welcome meeting on the 1 st  July, here at the Disneyland Hotel! I will try not to keep you here long as I am sure you want to explore the park and the hotel on this hot summer’s day, so basically the reason I am having this welcome meeting is to tell you a bit about the hotel, but mainly about the area around the hotel, and of course Paris’ Magic Kingdom and the Walt Disney studios! So first of all I would like to tell you about the entrance to the park, as guests of the Disneyland Hotel, you are able to watch the guests as they line up outside the imposing gates each morning and then stream into the park from underneath the hotel! This is always a nice thing to do, especially if you have kids with you, as we all know how they can get in the long cues. Now I would like to warn you about something, you will have to watch for the clocks which run backwards in the corridors as this may confuse some of you! Characters roam the lobby and the hall ways throughout the day and a tip for all you kids - t here is a small room on the third floor of the hotel from which they appear, starting at 7.30am each morning - every thirty minutes. Additionally for the adults there is a chance for an excellent photo opportunity, just position yourself on the 'bridge' . So children keep a look out for them! Also there is a swimming pool in this hotel for those smaller members of the family.

Next I would like talk about the weather, July in Paris is generally cool to pleasantly balmy, with average temperatures at around 66 degrees F. In

recent years, however, major heat waves have occasionally struck, particularly in late July, and temperatures have sometimes climbed to the 90's. so my advice to all of you and particularly either Elderly or younger visitors and visitors with medical conditions should be alert to possible spikes in temperature, and take necessary precautions. Although you rooms all do have air conditioning so feel free to come and cool up in your room, or use the hotels swimming pool. On the other hand however Paris is known for having unpredictable rain showers and despite the hot weather July Is one of the rainiest months of the year so expect some erratic thunderstorms and heavy showers so I would advise you Pack a reliable umbrella in case one of these surprises you during a stroll around the park or at a picnic or something similar to that. Additionally another tip I have is to be prepare to wear   both closed-toe and open-toe shoes particularly you elderly lot! As On hot days or excursions to the park you'll appreciate the open-toed pair, but you'll need a good, comfortable pair of walking shoes too, especially since visits to Disneyland Paris usually involves lots of strolling, and last thing I would advise wearing a hat with sun cream as well.

Now I would like to tell you the many attractions, Parents and particularly women! Have any of you brought 2 suitcases? Well if you have I am sure you will want to listen to this. If there is one thing you will never have a problem finding in Disneyland Paris, it will be its stores. Various themed and general stores are spread liberally throughout the park, selling Disney merchandise and general memorabilia. They carry everything from pencils to books, from Indiana Jones fedora hats to Cinderella costumes. The sky is basically the limit on what you can buy at Disneyland Paris . You can buy glass/crystal trinkets and sword replicas in the central castle. So if you have come to Disneyland Paris with children, be prepared; cowboy hats and pistols

or knights' swords seem to be essentials for boys; Cinderella costumes for girls.

The main shopping area of Disneyland Paris is Main Street USA. The largest store at Walt Disney Studios Paris is Disney Studio 1, which you will see straight ahead after you enter the park. Disney Village has a large collection of retailers, including a Disney Store. And while I’m on the topic of Parents, Does anyone here have young children? If so there is a scheme for toddlers or babies. On the rides there is a system here at Disney called the Baby Switch which is a great system for people with very young children. Essentially only one has to queue while the other waits with the baby and then is taken straight to the front of the line. Although it should be noted that if you are riding the Rock 'n' Rollercoaster the Baby Switch process is slightly different. Once the first adult has been on the ride, they collect a ticket at the exit. The second parent then has to queue through the Fast Pass entrance (although the ride attendants recommendation is merely to push your way to the front of the queue), which can take some time.

For those of you of business, you will happy to know that there is some excellent conference rooms for you – ‘Disney’s hotel New York’, ‘Disney’s Newport bay club’ and there is also an IMAX Auditorium, so if you’ve Organised your convention at our resort or are visiting one. Disney's Hotel New York® Convention centre is integrated into the hotel and offers around 5000 square metres of multi-purpose facilities that can be configured for business meetings, lunches, gala dinners and shows for 12 to 2,200 people. This convention centre has a separate reception for conference attendees, a Business Centre, a welcome desk and a 600 square metres foyer for coffee breaks, receptions, etc. furthermore A Business Centre is available with IT

equipment, secretarial service, telecommunications, reprographics and printing facilities.

Have we any aspiring pro golfers here today? As the Disneyland Golf lies a few kilometres away from the Resort. Set among island greens, lakes and flower-covered knolls. This unique course is extremely popular – both with experienced golfers, for whom it presents new challenges, and with beginners, who can make rapid progress thanks to the long par-5s with double fairways. For groups, the specialists at Disneyland® Golf offer 2 types of packages, either for beginners or experts. The golf course may also be privatised for company tournaments. The golf area will suit any of your golfing needs. It is actually a really nice course with 27 holes to play on, and if you play like me at golf, the most important part is the 35 different practice stations! To accompany this is a bar and restaurant along with a pro shop.

An interesting part of Disney is the team building attractions, so if anyone is here to see how well they work as team, or maybe if you’re on here with a sports team, this could be for you. There are 4 main team building activities – ‘Treasure hunt at disneyland park’, ‘in search of the last reel at Walt Disney studio park’, ‘Davy Crockett adventure at Disney’s Davy Crockett Ranch’. Along with the Disneyland golf. My favourite being the Davy Crockett ranch.   This treetop adventure trail takes you up to 17 metres high in a fully grown forest. There are five levels to explore, from beginners and children above 1.1 metres to super fit and super brave.  Swings, trapezes, rope bridges and ladders await you for some of the most intense thrills you’ll have anywhere. It is a chance to discover new sensations. As well as learn about the forest and your own limits. That is all I have say so apart from that I hope your stay is a good one.

And now I'd like to open the floor to questions. And since they never get a chance to speak, why don't we start with the married men? Thanks for coming.

Hello everyone, I hope your trip wasn’t too bad. To begin with I would like to welcome you all to the Surrey hotel here in Manhattan. And I would to thank you all for attending this welcome meeting on the 13 th  march. I will do my best not to hold you here for too long as I am in no doubt that you will want to get outside on this snowy day!

So I am going to tell you a bit about the hotel and the attractions and trips you can visit while on your holiday. Firstly I’d like to tell you about an easy way to find the hotel when you’re out and about in the city. For those of you that don’t know Manhattan has what is called a grid system. Which is shown on the maps that I will hand out at the end, so remember the hotel is based east on 76 th  street.

Anyway I am going to first tell you about the weather here, as you might know already it is generally cold in March here so be prepared to wear warm clothes. And I would advise you all, especially if you have young children with you to wear gloves and warm hats.

But enough of that, I would now like to tell you about one of the many trips we offer, to start with is what we call the Manhattan sky tour, you will take to the Manhattan skies for an exciting helicopter tour of New York City. Your flight takes you over Ground Zero and past the Statue of Liberty, and offers magnificent views of the Brooklyn Bridge and Yankee Stadium. So whether

you’re here on business and want to show a client around or on a family visit this is an excellent experience. On this New York Helicopter Flight you will have a bird's-eye view of New York's skyline, followed by fantastic photo opportunities of the Statue of Liberty, New York Harbour, the Verrazano Bridge, the financial district and Ground Zero. Next, your flight turns around and heads back over Manhattan to take in New York's world-famous skyline featuring the Empire State Building, Chrysler and Met Life Buildings.

You will be able to enjoy majestic views of Central Park on your way to once-in-a-lifetime views of many of New York's other historic landmarks. See Yankee Stadium, Grant's Tomb, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, George Washington Bridge and more as you fly over Manhattan.

And take it from me whether this is your first time in New York City or your 50th visit, a New York Helicopter Flight is a thrilling way to see this great city from a unique perspective you will not soon forget. So if you are interested in that, flights operate from the Downtown Heliport - Pier 6 and East River and flights leave every 15 minutes Monday through Friday 10:00am to 5:45pm Saturday and Sunday 11:00am to 5:45pm, it lasts around 20 minutes and costs around $120 but is completely worth it, additionally you don’t have to worry if you are in wheelchair as it is wheelchair accessible and this includes the taxi fares there and back.

Next I would like to tell you, particularly all you women! About historic orchard street shopping district which has around 400 shops in the heart of New York’s Lower East Side. This district is host to a variety of shops which does include traditional menswear if you men fancy a shop. As well as avant-garde boutique shops, wholesale linen and fabrics, European designer fashions, bargain leather and intimate apparel, jewellery, and luggage. While

shopping, you will also be able to stop at one of the many restaurants or cafes lining the districts historic streets. And it really has virtually any kind of restaurant including , , Kosher, , , , , ,  and finally  so there really is something for every family member.

Although if you are looking for a quiet more local day  why not visit what is perched peacefully on the 17th floor overlooking the Upper East Side and Central Park, the rooftop garden at The Surrey is a true oasis. A tranquil, elegant setting for relaxing or for business entertaining, the garden also features exclusive service from Cafe Boulud for beverages, light meals and anything else you may require. Nestled in Manhattan Upper East Side, The Surrey is located minutes away from the very best of the city--Central Park, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the galleries and boutiques of Madison Avenue.

Now I would like to talk to you about central park, and I am going to start with something to do for those of you with children here with them, j ust a few yards from 5th Ave. you’ll find over 130 different species ranging from giant Polar Bears to the tiny Leaf Cutter ants. I am of course talking about the wildlife zoo. A walk around the Zoo’s five plus acres will take you through a variety of habitats, all carefully designed to recreate the natural environment of the animals they house. At the left you’ll see a list of links to the pages describing all of the Zoo’s inhabitants.  Be sure to check out the renovated Polar Seabirds exhibit with their 4 new King Penguins and the Children’s Zoo's newest member - A newborn baby Mini-Nubian Goat!

There three main sections of the zoo - ‘the polar circle’ which contains polar bears, penguins, puffins to name a few, another section is ‘the rain forest’

which houses a brilliant collection of tropical birds including the Crested Coua of Madagascar and the Victoria Crowned Pigeons of New Guinea. Here you’ll also find enough , , ,  and various other  to keep any little girl or boy enraptured for their entire visit. Then there are the , as well as three species of , to represent the primates of the tropics. The final section is called The Temperate Territory wh i ch  includes the  tank at the center of the exhibit and stretches around the rear of the Zoo. This section is home to the  and .  Here you’ll also find the lovely . And kids! why not try and look for three amazing Snow Leopards which joined the zoo just last year.

Also there are two ice skating rinks to enjoy and there is also a public swimming pool although it might be slightly too cold for that, however march in Manhattan is a rather unpredictable month for weather so we could soon have a sunny day and the swimming pool could be an ideal day out.

One other place our hotel has trips to, possibly for the elderly lot or those interested in history is the Belvedere castle which is situated mid-park on 79 th  street. Besides offering breathtaking views the Castle also serves as a weather station, in fact whenever you see a local news broadcast that gives the temperature in Central Park, the readings are taken at Belvedere Castle. It also serves as the  so this is a really interesting place is visit. Inside are collections of natural history artifacts (skeletons, paper Mache birds) as well as microscopes and telescopes, all designed to give young visitors an insight into methodology of naturalists. Aspiring scientists can borrow field packs that contain binoculars, reference material, maps, and notepaper, which can all be used to explore the Ramble, or to study the

aquatic life from the edge of . And lastly the Castle is also the favorite haunt of many of Central Park’s cadre of dedicated bird watchers, a great place to catch a glimpse of hawks, kestrels or osprey.

That is everything I have to say, so if there is any question feel free to see me and I will be happy to answer any query you may have. Thank you for listening.

TUI reviews format of welcome meetings

  • Share by email

TRADITIONAL resort welcome meetings could become entertainment-based or disappear completely for certain brands in a major service review by TUI.

It follows a service overhaul to improve the “end-to-end customer experience” with all shop, airline and resort staff trained on new service principles.

Encouraging staff to focus more on service has been linked to some of TUI’s best customer service questionnaire scores – in July the company overall scored 79%, up two percentage points year on year. The review is being extended to look at how welcome meetings could be altered following waning popularity among holidaymakers.

General manager of oversees development Louise Bates said welcome meetings could change for Superfamily programmes next summer, particularly as meetings do not always hold the attention of children.

“As a result reps struggle to communicate with families. We’re looking at more entertainment-based formats, designing meetings around a play or a quiz, for example,” said Bates.

She added: “The review is aimed at making service our key differentiator against rivals and new entrants in the market.”

For more well-travelled customers who don’t spend much on excursions – such as the A La Carte and Small and Friendly brands – the traditional welcome meeting could be ditched for 2005 and information given out in a different way.

TUI has trialled alternatives such as giving customers information during flights or through televisions in hotel bedrooms.

While it is unlikely these will be adopted, Bates said: “If traditional welcome meetings are not what people want we’ve got to stop them and make the format more modern and relevant.”

From May 1, when all Lunn Poly, Thomson Holidays and Britannia staff adopted the same uniform, TUI introduced its new service principles, including phrases such as “resolve, don’t blame”, on credit card-sized cards for all customer-facing staff. All resort staff have been given a guide on service.

Product from rival operators will be bookable online on TUI’s retail website lunnpoly.co.uk in the next six months. Currently only Thomson Holidays product can be booked on the site, but technology has been improved to boost sales through the channel.

How To Give The Best Speech During The Holiday Season

The holiday season gives us the perfect opportunity to spread a little festive cheer. And delivering a great Christmas speech is a fantastic way to do that!

Key Takeaways

A HOLIDAY speech is a perfect way to share festive affection during these sensational holidays.

  • H aving an office Christmas party
  • O ffering gratitude and recognition to your team
  • L ightening up the room and giving bright sentiments
  • I ncluding everyone on your team
  • D ecorating the office (don’t forget the Christmas tree !)
  • A ppreciation should be spread to everyone
  • Y ou need to practice your speech to deliver a great message

Sometimes, knowing where to start with your holiday speech can be challenging. Many of us might have a firey passion for telling our employees “ Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays” with a gratifying speech.

But not all of us know how to use the right words to get our message across.

If that sounds like you, keep reading! Here are the best ways to give a speech during the holidays.

Tips For Giving An Oustanding HOLIDAY Speech

A lot goes into a holiday party to make it a successful and fun event. No matter what route you take or the holiday theme you pursue, no holiday office party is complete without a speaker that will deliver a touching, memorable, and seasonal speech!

As an experienced and well-established corporate emcee , I know how intensive speeches can be. If you’re rather new to public speaking, I know it can be a little daunting.

However, giving a Christmas speech is much easier than it may seem. The holiday season gives us amazing festive inspiration and makes it so much easier to connect with our audience.

Holiday speeches can be incredibly rewarding and fun to give. Wondering where to start?

Here are some of my favorite tips to make your holiday speech one for the books!

#1. H ave A Christmas Party To Go With It

If you’re planning on giving a speech, you should also count on hosting a Christmas office party. That should go without saying.

A great seasonal speech reflects on the successful year past and helps us relive enjoyable memories. And your speaker, whether it be you or a professional keynote speaker, will be the one to set the tone for the entire Christmas event.

That’s why having a remarkable and heartwarming speech is so essential.

How To Have An Amazing Annual Office Party During The Holidays

We all know that seasonal office parties are one of the most iconic parts of the holiday season. And, of course, your organization should be included in that!

Your speech won’t be complete unless it’s leading up to something. You’re setting the tone for the successful year ahead, and there needs to be something to commemorate that!

And that something should be a Christmas office party. The best way to make your speech and subsequent party stand out is to truly embrace the holiday party spirit.

Looking for a few ideas to make your event stand out?

  • Decorate the entire office with seasonal embellishments and trimmings
  • Don’t forget food and beverages – Christmas isn’t complete without seasonal eating!
  • Have holiday games and fun activities to promote team bonding and spark new friendships

#2. O ffer Recognition To Your Employees

A speech during the holidays is an excellent opportunity to give your employees the recognition they deserve . After all, a festive and touching speech in a professional setting can help you express your employee appreciation.

Each workplace needs to know how to share and express recognition to those working there. Especially if the past year was particularly stressful, offering your team a heartfelt and uplifting statement can be truly impactful.

There’s No Better Holiday Gift Than The Gift Of Appreciation

Your team deserves to be recognized for their valiant efforts and hard work.

Whether you want to thank someone who successfully dealt with a challenging client or applaud an employee who put in extra work to meet a tight deadline, your team deserves recognition.

It always feels good when someone notices our professional efforts. So include it in your speech and watch how your team glows afterward!

#3. L ighten Up The Room

The Christmas season is the most wonderful time of the year for a reason. So give into the holiday cheer and festive affection and spread bright emotions!

After all, there’s nothing worse than a drab and boring professional speech. So go the opposite way. Make your material full of life and emotions, and touch your employee’s hearts.

Make your speech funny and comedic. Laughter brings us together, and it’s the best way to connect with your team.

Tell A Joke!

When I say “be funny,” most people automatically think about telling a   joke . And, of course, telling a joke is the best way to get the laughter flowing.

Don’t be afraid to tell a corny dad joke. The funniest material is comfortable and family-friendly , so let it all out!

#4. I nclude Everyone!

The holidays are a time for connection, affection, and heartwarming celebrations. Your holiday office speech should be something that will unite your entire team together.

Sometimes, people get carried away, and they establish their emcee humor with crude or dirty jokes in an attempt to pry some laughter from their audience. Don’t do that .

Use inclusive, inviting, and welcoming language, and steer clear of divisive and inappropriate topics . The holidays are full of gratifying and comforting communications. So focus on that!

#5. D ecorate The Place Where You’ll Give Your Speech

As I stated earlier, your speech isn’t complete without a holiday party. But both of those aspects aren’t complete without expressive holiday decorations!

Having festive and enjoyable decorations around you will make your speech more touching and fitting.

A seasonal speech deserves to be in a seasonal environment, and cheerful decorations are the best way to do that!

Think about it like this : you wouldn’t give a speech about hiking in the Rocky Mountains sitting on a tropical beach. Those two things don’t exactly fit together nor do they promote a unique theme.

A once-a-year holiday event and speech should have unique decorations to truly bring those festive feelings to life! Whether you are in a rented-out venue or in your daily office space for your speech and party, add in those seasonal decorations, and the rest will fall in line.

Incredibly well earned holiday speeches holiday drum kits christmas word cloud family fun festive colour same letter tasty little contradiction next year

#6. A ppreciation Will Go A Long Way

Like recognition, employee appreciation around the holidays is essential. It’s the season of giving, and being stingy with expressing your gratitude can send the wrong type of message.

Showing your employees genuine appreciation and gratitude is the first step in creating a happy and healthy workplace. Your speech just shouldn’t be about celebrating the holidays.

Your speech should be about recognizing your team!

Show genuine emotions, give sincere compliments, and pass on heartfelt sentiments. Your Christmas speech should be touching. And this is the way to do it.

Better yet, attach a holiday gift to your speech. A small token or assorted stocking stuffers are holiday-appropriate and act as a simple gesture to express your gratitude.

No one ever said no to holiday chocolates and sweets!

#7. Y ou’ll Need To Practice

Regardless of the time of the year, you’re still giving a speech . You need to be prepared and organized in your material to ensure your message can reach your target audience.

The key to success in most things in life stems from repeated rehearsal and practice . So if you want your speech to succeed, practice making that happen!

How To Practice Holiday Speeches

If you want your Christmas speech to be memorable and enlightening, you’ll need to work on fine-tuning your public speaking skills . Especially if you get nervous or anxious speaking in front of a crowd , practicing your material will go a long way in setting you up for success.

But before you can practice your speech, you need to write your speech .

Usually, many people may overthink their speech writing. Just keep in mind the tips I’ve laid out for you, and speak from the heart .

Because the most important part of your speech is how you deliver it . Even if you have killer material and hilarious jokes, they won’t hit home if you are just mumbling on stage and acting awkward.

Here are some tips for practicing your speech the right way .

  • Rehearse and get feedback. That means you should practice in front of a mirror , in front of friends or family members , or with a video camera to review later.
  • Pay attention to your body language. This is where videoing your practice sessions can help. Make sure you’re not doing anything distracting like swaying or fidgeting.
  • Use pauses to drive your points home and provide emphasis on keywords or phrases.
  • And repeat it all over and over until you are 100% confident in your Christmas speech!

But likely one of the best ways to give a great speech is to have fun with it . Feeling open and connected with your audience will help them relate to you and your message.

Last but not least, I wish you good luck with your speech, and a Merry Christmas and happy holidays!

Rimar Hotel Krasnodar

Stayed 5 nights and really enjoyed it. Very nice team in the reception dest. Good breakfast and buffet both in lunch and dinner and all in excellent price.the room itself was also comfortable and clean.

Hello, Thank you for taking time to share your positive comments regarding your recent stays at our hotel. We are pleased to know that our facilities & services were satisfying for you. We especially enjoyed hearing your praise of our Reception Desk Team. We hope to see you again when your travels bring you back to Krasnodar! Sincerely,

We stayed overnight in January. The service was unobtrusive but effective, and the staff responded quickly to our requests for information. The room and public areas were spotless and perfectly comfortable, although not massively luxurious. Think Holiday Inn Express. There is parking in front of the hotel - it's on-street, but we had no problem finding a space. The hotel is near the main ring road, and the city centre begins about 10 minutes' drive away. There are taxis waiting outside all the time. We paid 500 roubles on the meter to get to Krasnaya Ulitsa. Overall, this isn't a holiday destination in its own right by any means, but as a quiet, clean and no-hassle place to stay for a few nights I think it must be one of the best in the south of Russia. And the breakfast coffee is outstanding!

  • Sleep Quality

We greatly appreciate your warm and kind comments on your stay at the Aerohotel Krasnodar. We are happy to take this opportunity and to thank you for being our guest. We would like to assure you that we will go on doing our utmost to serve the guests according to the international standards and Russian hospitality. You are always welcome to Aerohotel Krasnodar!

Stayed there for two nights, very nice place, not far from the center of Krasnodar. The room was clean and luxury. Just in front of the hotel is located 24/7 supermarket, Highly recommended to the people who will stay at most one ore two days there.

  • Cleanliness

Thank you for your great review. We are delighted to read that you enjoyed your stay. Our objective is to ensure your satisfaction each time when you stay with us. We will try to make your stay even more enjoyable in the next time in Krasnodar. We would like to thank you for choosing to stay at AeroHotel and look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

Very kindly staff, very clean room, quietly, good breakfast, mini-bar, wi-fi, short distanse from airport, free shuttle bus, good welness possibility, also taxi servis to the center of the city. Perfectly, if you have early morning flight.

We are very glad that staying in our hotel gives you pleasure. It was an honor for us to meet you and to be helpful. We are always ready to provide you with a comfortable rest and good service in our hotel! With best wishes,

Found this hotel with help of Booking.com just as nearest to stay overnight near the airport +good feedback.. As I used to stay in a lot of hotels in Krasnodar high score of 8.9 looked a bit suspicious but location was exellent. In reality, the hotel is more than good for puropse! Modern or renovated building, spacious room with everything needed, long working hours for kitchen and early breakfast, free shutlle service.

Dear Oleg, we are very grateful for your great review about our hotel! We are very glad that you are satisfied and we were able to meet your expectations. Hopefully on your choice AirHotel Krasnodar in your next journey! Kind regards, Director Reshetova L.U.
