Tesla Model X refresh gets in-depth exterior and interior walkthrough [Video]
A thorough walkthrough of the new Tesla Model X Long Range has recently been shared online. Posted by the OCDetailing group on YouTube, the video covered practically everything about the newly-released flagship crossover, from its minor exterior changes to its significant interior upgrades.
As noted by OCDetailing President, CEO, and Founder Joe, the Model X Long Range’s exterior is extremely similar to the previous iteration of the flagship SUV. Unlike the new Model S, which is slightly wider than its previous iterations, the new Model X’s dimensions seemed to be identical to previous generations.
Save for a revamped fascia and chrome-deleted accents, even electric vehicle enthusiasts may be hard-pressed to find the subtle differences between the new and old Model X. “I’m sure the underpinnings of this car are very different than the outgoing X. But the exterior, very very similar,” noted the OCDetailing CEO and President.
The interior, however, is a completely different story. Tesla’s revamped interior for its flagship vehicles works very well with the Model X, giving it a classic airy and futuristic feel that seems a lot more premium than before. This could be seen in the vehicle’s perforated seats, which could both be heated and cooled. The Model X in the walkthrough video was a six-seat variant, and based on the experienced detailer’s tests , the vehicle is just as spacious as ever. Even its third-row could accommodate adults comfortably provided that the second-row seats are pushed forward.
“The inside of the car is very exciting. Just like the difference between the outgoing Model S to the refresh, the outgoing Model X to the refresh, on this one the inside…big improvements. It’s what you would expect out of a car that costs as much as this. It feels much more premium than the outgoing X did,” the OCDetailing CEO said.
The experienced detailer did observe some interesting portions of the new Model X’s interior. For one, a long horizontal component beside the infotainment system was reportedly a display that is yet to be activated by Tesla. The door seals on the new Model X’s iconic Falcon Wing Doors also looked identical to the ones used in the flagship SUV’s previous iterations. Considering that the Model X’s Falcon Wing Door seals tended to require replacing every couple of years due to wear and tear, the experienced detailer noted that such issues may still be present in the vehicle’s newest variant.
Overall, the new Model X seems to be a vehicle whose main improvements lie within. The new flagship SUV may look just as understated as its previous iterations, but from its interior to its components beneath the hood, the new Model X is a completely different beast . And this time around, it appears that the vehicle finally has the quality and materials that would truly make its premium price more than justified.
Watch a thorough walkthrough of the new Tesla Model X in the video below.

2021 Tesla Model X Refresh extensively detailed in 21-minute video
Tesla took its sweet time coming out with the Model X Refresh following the SUV’s debut at the beginning of the year, with customer deliveries only starting a couple of weeks ago. The updated version is finally here now, and YouTuber OCDetailing had the opportunity to take a thorough look and discover what the Palo Alto brand has changed for 2021.
The version featured here has a six-seat configuration with its heated and cooled perforated seats, plus all the improvements we already saw on the Model S Refresh . Of course, the Model X is substantially more spacious on the inside as even adults can comfortably sit on the third-row seats. Needless to say, the main attraction in the cabin is now the new infotainment featuring a landscape orientation as most cars today now have, with a few exceptions.
The much-debated yoke steering wheel of the Model S has found its way inside the Model X as well and it looks just as futuristic as it did on the sedan. It’s still very much a love/hate affair as some have praised Tesla for being this bold while others have criticized the company for replacing the conventional wheel with something that makes maneuvering in tight spaces a lot more difficult.
It’s worth mentioning OCDetailing says at one point in the video, around the 7:28 mark, that the Model X Refresh has a horizontal strip to the right of the infotainment that could be a screen Tesla has yet to activate. However, that’s not the case as it’s nothing more than a trim piece finished in glossy black that extends all the way on the front passenger side of the dashboard. It’s also on the left side of the steering wheel to make the dash look a bit more premium.
There’s not much to say about the exterior since the visual tweaks have been kept down to a minimum in typical Tesla fashion. You’d have to be a diehard fan to notice that the wheels now have a different design and that the chrome accents have been removed. The designers also discreetly updated the look of the front bumper and modified the rear bumper skirt to accommodate a center-mounted trapezoidal shape.
It would appear Tesla has another winner on its hands with the Model X Refresh, an electric SUV ready to compete with upcoming rivals that have been announced, chief of which being the Mercedes EQS SUV coming in 2022.

Tesla Shares ‘Meet Your Model X’ Video for New Refresh Owners
Tesla today launched deliveries of its Model X refresh in Fremont, California, finally.
The U.S. electric automaker first unveiled its Model X back in January of this year, with pre-orders at the time indicating an estimated delivery date of April.
After numerous delays and delivering its Model S Plaid and Long Range versions first, Tesla has debuted the Model X refresh.
Earlier today, a new Model X refresh owner said there were five total deliveries at Tesla’s Fremont factory.
Tesla today has also shared a new video , titled “Meet Your Model X”, which details the basic functions and features of the SUV for owners. Check out the video below:
While we finally have Model X refresh deliveries in the United States, new orders of Long Range variants will have to wait until June 2022 to receive deliveries , as Tesla continues to deal with a global semiconductor shortage and supply chain pressures on parts.

Tesla Model X
What's new for 2024.
We don't expect Tesla to make any substantial changes to the 2024 Model X. Though the company doesn’t follow the traditional path of updating its vehicles on a model-year basis, Tesla does change its products regularly, so pricing and features are subject to change throughout the year.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
The price of the 2024 Tesla Model X starts at $81,630 and goes up to $96,630 depending on the trim and options.
The Plaid model with its three electric motors is sure to deliver insane acceleration, but its speed is mighty expensive. And its 326-mile estimated driving range isn't as good as the less expensive Long Range model’s estimate, so we'd save the cash. The Long Range Model X offers up to 335 miles of estimated driving range and is still mighty quick.
EV Motor, Power, and Performance
The base Model X comes standard with two electric motors—one at the front axle and one at the rear—which enable all-wheel drive. This setup is plenty swift : Tesla claims a 60-mph time of 4.4 seconds, but even an older, less powerful model easily beat that in our testing with a 3.3-second run. The 1020-hp three-motor Plaid high-performance variant boasts a claimed 60-mph time of 2.5 seconds, but we haven't verified its acceleration times at our test track yet. When we tested the Model S Plaid—the Model X's sedan platform-mate—it managed a viscera-compressing 2.1-second 60-mph time . The X’s handling is respectable, but it’s still a big and heavy SUV with the fun party trick of strong acceleration generated by its electric motors.
Range, Charging, and Battery Life
The Long Range model comes with an estimated driving range of 335 miles; upgrading to the faster Plaid model drops the estimated driving range to 326 miles. Recharging is quick via one of Tesla's Superchargers, which are located across the country. Charging at home via a 240V or 120V connection will be slower, but probably more convenient for owners, so Tesla offers in-home charging equipment for purchase.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPGe
Among other similarly sized electric SUVs, the Model X Long Range boasts the highest MPGe ratings from the EPA. That model has ratings of 107 city, 97 highway, and 102 MPGe combined. Even the Plaid model, which sacrifices some efficiency for faster acceleration, outperforms key rivals such as the Jaguar I-Pace and Audi e-Tron SUVs in this metric. For more information about the Model X's fuel economy, visit the EPA's website .
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
A stark and nearly buttonless interior design is classic Tesla. The driver faces a digital gauge display and a unique yoke-style steering controller, which is often frustrating to use and difficult if not impossible to get used to. At least a regular steering wheel is available as a no-cost option. Also unique is the Model X's windshield and glass roof that runs seamlessly from the base of the hood and up and over the front-seat passengers for a nearly uninterrupted view of what's ahead and what's above. Despite these whiz-bang features, the Model X's cabin leaves us wanting, especially considering its price can easily break the six-figure barrier. It has a nondescript look, the seats are relatively flat, and we’ve noticed poorly aligned panels and other build-quality issues.
Infotainment and Connectivity
A huge touchscreen infotainment system dominates the dashboard and controls nearly all of the Model X's various features and settings. A secondary digital readout directly in front of the driver serves as the gauge cluster. Tesla's infotainment system is certainly high-tech, but you won't find Apple CarPlay or Android Auto capability. Rear-seat riders are treated to their own small display which provides entertainment and, presumably, some control over the car's features.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
The Model X can be optioned with the feature that is possibly the most buzz-worthy: Autopilot. Tesla's hands-free driving mode uses several cameras, multiple sensors, and radars to detect objects, people, and other vehicles and uses them to pilot the Model X under its own power. The Model X also offers a Summon feature that allows the user to park or retrieve the SUV from tight spots while standing outside—a feature that seems gimmicky but proved necessary thanks to the silly top-hinged doors. For more information about the Model X's crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ( NHTSA ) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety ( IIHS ) websites. Key safety features include:
- Standard automated emergency braking
- Standard lane-departure warning
- Available adaptive cruise control with a hands-free driving mode
Warranty and Maintenance Coverage
Tesla offers a comprehensive warranty package to protect the Model X's powertrain and battery components but lacks the lengthy bumper-to-bumper coverage and complimentary scheduled maintenance packages of the I-Pace.
- Limited warranty covers 4 years or 50,000 miles
- Powertrain warranty covers 8 years, regardless of miles
- No complimentary scheduled maintenance

Elon Musk unveils Tesla’s Model X – video
Electric car manufacturer Tesla Motors reveals its full-electric family SUV on Tuesday. Tesla’s Model X — one of the only all-electric SUVs on the market — was officially unveiled near the company’s California factory. CEO Elon Musk says the Model X sets a new level for automotive engineering, with features like rear falcon-wing doors, which open upward, and a driver’s door that opens on approach and closes itself when the driver is inside

Tesla Pitch Deck
Founded in 2003, Tesla strives to build a sustainable energy ecosystem that helps the world move towards a zero-emission future. Today, hundreds of thousands of drivers in the United States get behind the wheel of Tesla’s groundbreaking electric vehicles, which make up nearly 80% of the entire market.
Tesla went public in 2010, creating a pitch deck to win over investors. It worked — and is now worth more than the remaining six top car companies combined. But the presentation called for an enhanced design that matches the innovation, technology, and intelligent design that Tesla is known for. Enter: a revamped Tesla pitch deck that’s as forward-thinking as the engineers behind the brand.
Use this Tesla pitch deck template to create your own presentations for:

Model X is the safest, fastest and most capable sport utility vehicle in history. With all-wheel drive and a 90 kWh battery providing 257 miles of range, Model X has ample seating for seven adults and all of their gear. And it’s ludicrously fast, accelerating from zero to 60 miles per hour in as quick as 3.2 seconds. Model X is the SUV uncompromised.
Model X is designed with safety as the first priority. The floor-mounted battery lowers the center of gravity so that the risk of rollover is about half that of any vehicle in its class. The battery structure strengthens Model X against side impact intrusions. And without a gasoline engine, the large front trunk acts as a giant impact-absorbing crumple zone.
Although the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has not yet conducted crash testing on Model X, Tesla's own internally conducted crash testing indicates that Model X should be the first SUV to receive the highest safety rating in every category.
Model X continually scans the surrounding roadway with camera, radar and sonar systems, providing the driver with real-time feedback to help avoid collisions. Even at highway speeds, Model X is designed to automatically apply brakes in an emergency.
A medical grade HEPA filter strips outside air of pollen, bacteria, viruses and pollution before circulating it into the cabin. There are three modes: circulate with outside air, re-circulate inside air and a bioweapon defense mode that creates positive pressure inside the cabin to protect occupants.
Falcon Wing doors allow easy access to second and third row seats from even a tight parking space, while traditional SUV doors or Minivan sliding doors would not grant any access.
Model X is able to achieve 257 miles of range in part because it is the most aerodynamic SUV in production. At 0.24, Model X's drag coefficient is 20% lower than the next best SUV. In addition, an active spoiler deploys from the rear liftgate to optimize highway efficiency and stability.
Model X has the largest all glass panoramic windshield in production, providing an unparalleled view of the stars and sky above. Optimized solar tinting and obstruction-free view creates unlimited visibility for the driver and all passengers.
Model X comfortably seats seven people in three rows. Every seat is the best seat in the house, but the second row seats are a work of art. Mounted on a single post and independently reclining, each second row seat is designed to maximize passenger comfort, legroom, under seat storage and access to the third row. The third row seats fold flat when not in use and the second row seats lean forward and out of the way for even more cargo area.
Stow everyone's gear in Model X's large front trunk, rear cargo area and under passenger seats. Hitch mounted accessory carriers hold additional gear. Model X is the first electric vehicle with a 5,000 pound towing capacity.
Charge time based on 90D EPA-rated consumption. Charge cost assumes national average of $0.12 per kilowatt hour. Gasoline savings assumes 21 mpg at $2.70 per gallon.

Legacy Tesla Model X Blasts Through Stop Sign After Getting Full-Self Driving
The car can also be seen traveling at up to 43 mph in a posted 35-mph zone
by Brad Anderson
- The Tesla should have stopped and waited to see if there was any approaching traffic.
- Tesla has been promoting FSD in recent weeks to boost its popularity.
- It appears the technology still needs a lot of work.
Last week, Tesla introduced its latest version of Full-Self Driving to legacy examples of the Model S and Model X and it hasn’t taken long for a video to surface online showing just how far the system still has to come to be safe.
This short clip was originally shared to the Model X subreddit and filmed by an individual behind the wheel of an older Model X. The poster hasn’t specified which version of the Full-Self Driving beta they have installed but the system has only been available on legacy models with the most recent V12.3.4 update, so that’s likely what this car has.
Read: California Mom Sues Tesla After 2-Year-Old Started Model X And Hit Her
In the video, the Model X can be seen traveling down a small country road at 43 mph (69 km/h) in a 35-mph (56 km/h) zone. As if that’s not enough, it blasts through a stop sign at the 6-second mark instead of stopping and checking whether there was any traffic coming the other way. It’s an extremely scary sight and shows that no matter how much Tesla and Elon Musk may promote how good the system is, it still needs a lot of work.
It is worth pointing out that the angle of the video means the base of the steering wheel has been cut from view. After all, FSD, like other semi-autonomous systems, demands that you have you have your hand on the wheel even when the system is operational so you can take over if it’s needed. Nevertheless, given that all the correct displays for Full-Self Driving being enabled can be seen on the instrument cluster, it does look to have been switched on and active at the time.
Eligible ‘legacy’ Model S and Model X vehicles must have the updated MCU2 infotainment system upgrade to support the Full-Self Driving suite. The most recent update for the driver assistance system also means it can now be used in the heavily updated 2024 Model 3 .
