The Ultimate Study Music Playlist

This is a playlist of my favorite study music. It’s great for homework, studying for exams, reading, and generally getting crap crossed off my many checklists.

I’ve been working on this playlist for several years, and it contains music (all non-lyrical) from a wide variety of genres and sources, including video game/anime/movie soundtracks. At the moment, it’s got about 240 songs for you to choose from.

Listening on another app? I’ve worked to mirror this study playlist to other services. Check them out below:

  • Spotify Study Music Playlist
  • Apple Music Study Playlist

If you’d like, you can study with me in another tab while this plays. You can also listen to the playlist on YouTube instead of on this page.

By the way – I create my own study music as well! If you’d like to give it a listen, here’s a playlist:

You can also follow me on Spotify or on YouTube if you want to be notified when new tracks are released.

Need even more study music?

Here are a few options.

Brain.fm – Music designed specifically to help you focus more effectively. It works really well for me, and I use it for around 50% of my research, writing, and reading sessions – the other half are mostly done with the playlist above.

Piano Study Playlist – If you’re in the mood for a more consistent playlist, check out this one full of solo piano tracks.

Coffitivity – Sometimes I’m in the mood for ambient noise instead of music, and the sounds of a bustling coffee shop are my personal favorite type.

Noisli – An ambient noise generator that lets you create your own mix using sounds like rain, thunder, fan, and white/brown/pink noise.

More Playlists

Work Vibes – My personal playlist of “getting-stuff-done” music. Most of the tracks here have vocals, so I wouldn’t read or study intently with them. But they’re great for crushing emails, working on design projects, or doing other work where I simply need to execute quickly.

Tom’s Workout Playlist – A collection of the tracks that usually accompany me to the gym.

If you have a deadline approaching, you may find so many distractions. The good news is that specialized music apps promise to help you focus if you put on your headphones and listen.

However, if you already subscribe to a music streaming service like Apple Music, you may already have hours of focus music available. But with so much music, where do you start?

The Best Music to Help You Focus, According to Science

Apple Music browse genres

For decades, researchers have studied music's effect on people while they work, study, solve puzzles, and perform tasks. Numerous studies indicate music can influence your ability to focus, but the best music for the job seems to vary. Here is a summary of some of this research.

Classical music, particularly Mozart, may temporarily boost spatial-temporal reasoning. We use this ability for other problem-solving and creative tasks. Nature published a study often cited by those who promote the “Mozart effect.”

If you need to perform repetitive tasks that still require accuracy, you may do best with the upbeat music of your choice, according to a JAMA study .

During this study, doctors performed repetitive test tasks. One group chose their own music, the second listened to researcher-selected music, and the third no music. The no-music group had the poorest performance, and the doctors who chose their own music performed the task with better speed and accuracy.

When you want to inspire creativity, a moderate-level ambient sound like you would naturally hear in a busy coffee shop may be better than silence, according to a study published in the Journal of Consumer Research . However, if you are learning and memorizing information, you may benefit more from white noise, according to a study published in Nature .

Sometimes different studies seem to conflict, as the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine describes. One theory is that music may affect people differently, and personal preference and the work involved may both play a role. Complex music can hinder performance with tasks requiring deep concentration but enhance performance with simpler tasks (per American Psychological Association ).

Research also explored the effect of Binaural beats with mixed results, according to Medical News Today. Some find it beneficial, especially when wearing noise-canceling headphones.

At the same time, other studies didn’t observe a consistent response. If you are interested in seeing whether Binaural beats help you focus, Apple Music offers plenty to choose from.

These studies also affect the best music streaming services out there. In fact, Spotify surveyed what music its users prefer when working or studying. The streaming service found:

  • For studying, 69% preferred ambient music
  • For writing and data analysis, 43% said they preferred instrumental music
  • For repetitive tasks like household chores, 64% preferred upbeat music.

Discovering Music on Apple Music

Apple Music Search

Apple Music lets you search songs, albums, and playlists based on artists, song titles, and genres. You can even use lyrics to search for a song on Apple Music .

Since Apple Music features pre-curated playlists for studying, working, and focusing, you can experiment with different kinds of music to find the right soundtrack for your needs. If you know you want a particular genre, you can search for that too. For example, if you want to try coffee shop sounds, just search for it.

How to Create Your Work Playlist on Apple Music

Create a playlist

Getting started with Apple Music playlists is pretty straightforward. To start your list, visit the Playlist section and choose the option to create a new one. If you already know a few songs you would like to include, start with them. If not, search for songs or playlists that interest you.

Many songs can help boost your productivity, so try the songs that you think will help you focus. If you need help getting started, visit Apple Music’s Focus Music page . If you save any tracks you enjoy, the Apple Music algorithm will factor those tracks into your recommendations.

Choosing the Soundtrack for When You Need to Focus

When it comes to what music helps you focus and work, the research is inconclusive. Still, if you are like many people, you may find some music more helpful for certain tasks. You may find the best focus music for you is music that you find pleasant and stimulates your brain just enough without distracting you.

Songs to Stream While Studying for Finals: Homework Music Recommendations

Anna Devine , Contributing Writer April 14, 2022

I always thought I was one of those people who can’t do homework and listen to music at the same time. Something about hearing lyrics while writing an essay or reading a textbook just doesn’t work, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way. However, I recently discovered a loophole: music without lyrics. Or music that has lyrics in a language I don’t understand. This way, my brain doesn’t fixate on processing lyrics or interpreting the song’s meaning, and I can focus on the task at hand.

The most important quality of homework/study music is its relaxation factor. Homework is stressful, and especially as we get ready for finals it’s important to make your study space as tranquil as possible.

I personally think that I have one of the best playlists for homework music out there, and dear reader, today’s your lucky day. I’m going to be sharing a few homework music highlights with you, as we’re all going to need them as finals are approaching. Note that these are not ranked in any order of preference.

  • “Enchanted Mirror” by Luiz Bonfá

If you’re a bossa nova fan, you may already be familiar with Luiz Bonfá’s magic. He was an extremely talented Brazilian guitarist, singer and composer with an enormous discography. He started making music in the 1940s and continued until 2001, the year in which he passed away. Bonfá has had a tremendous influence on the bossa nova scene as well as other music genres from other cultures. His song “Seville” was sampled in Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know” which is an absolute banger and topped the charts in 27 countries in 2011.

“Enchanted Mirror” from Bonfá’s album “Introspection” is a dazzling tune played on a 12-string guitar with dynamic tempo changes. The richness of the sound of the 12-string combined with the ebb and flow of the tempo makes for a beautiful and emotional composition. I think the title “Enchanted Mirror” really fits the song’s enchanting qualities. If you like this song, I recommend “Yesterdays” and “Manhã de Carnaval,” also by Luiz Bonfá.

  • “Five Hundred Miles” by Mamman Sani

Mamman Sani builds airy, dreamlike arpeggios in “Five Hundred Miles.” Mamman Sani is from Niger and considered a pioneer in West African avant garde and experimental music. Throughout most of his discography, his instrument of choice is an electric organ (specifically an Italian model called the ‘Orla’) that he discovered on a trip to Europe as a UNESCO delegate. He uses the electric organ to create experimental renditions of classic Niger folk songs.

The delicate sounds of the electric organ are beautiful, but I think my favorite part of this song is the soft crashing waves in the background. There’s also a very faint whistling toward the end, if you listen closely. These additions bring a really sweet and bright mood to the track, and it certainly makes me feel comforted when I’m working on a painstaking assignment.

  • “If You’re Sure You Want To” by Alabaster DePlume

“If You’re Sure You Want To” by Alabaster DePlume is a beautifully crafted song with a sweet and simple melody. The wide arrange of instruments used to carry out this melody really adds to the texture of the song. The song starts out with a gentle saxophone, simple piano notes and violin plucking. As it builds, we hear more legato violin arco — when the strings are played using a bow — and we get some fun percussion sounds. The cherry on top of this tune, though, is the sweet little forest noises and bird chirps. They are faint, but they remind me of spring and enhance the song’s ambiance, making it a perfect tune for finals time.

  • “Tobiume” by Susumu Yokota

This song is a bit more synth-y/electronic. It uses cool synth loops that make me feel like I’m in outer space. The complex layering of these loops is mesmerizing, but in a strange way, I also find it motivating.

Susumu Yokota was a Japanese musician who made and released over 30 albums from 1992 to 2012, specializing in genres like ambient, acid techno, downtempo electronic music and more. He is celebrated for his creative use of organic samples and the spellbinding way in which he arranges them. His early work in the early 1990s was more dancey electronic, then he turned more toward ambient and experimental styles in the 2000s. If you like “Tobiume,” definitely check out more of his massive discography. I really like his album “Cloud Hidden,” which is very experimental and makes me feel artsy.

  • “Discreet Music” by Brian Eno

My all-time favorite relaxing study tune is Brian Eno’s 1975 masterpiece “Discreet Music.” This track is 31 minutes and 34 seconds full of blissful reassurance. No matter how stressed you are, Eno’s silky synthwork will put you in a trance.

I also like the fact that it’s 31 minutes long because it acts as a measure of time and productivity. If I finish an assignment within the time window of “Discreet Music” as a full track, I know that I’ve been productive during that half hour.

When creating “Discreet Music,” Brian Eno took conceptual inspiration from French classical music composer Erik Satie’s term “furniture music” which describes ambient music with a tendency to melt into the environment and to become a part of the room, like furniture. In his book Silence , American composer and music theorist John Cage writes that “furniture music” softens “the noises of the knives and forks at dinner, not dominating them, not imposing itself. It would fill up those heavy silences that sometimes fall between friends dining together.”

As you listen to “Discreet Music” by Brian Eno, you may notice the “furniture music” cushioning the noise of your moving pencil or clacking of your keyboard.

I hope you found a song or two that tickles your fancy and keeps you motivated during this finals season. These tracks aren’t only for studying; they’re also great for making art, journaling, cleaning your room or perhaps interpretive dancing.

If you liked these songs and want to hear more awesome and motivating homework music, check out the whole playlist I have here!

An Apple exec admits there's still work to be done on Apple Music

The launch of Apple's music streaming service hasn't gone entirely smoothly. Since its launch two months ago, Apple Music has accrued at least 11 million users — but it's taken some heat along the way due to bugs, with one respected Apple blogger calling it a "nightmare."

In an interview with The Guardian , Apple's international iTunes boss Oliver Schusser now admits that the product isn't where Apple wanted to be, saying there is "a bit of homework to be done for the rest of the year."

Schusser said: "There's a lot of work going into making the product better. Our focus is on editorial and playlists, and obviously we have teams all around the world working on that, but we’re also adding features and cleaning up certain things."

It's a rare admission of a problem from the famously guarded company — but arguably a necessary one. Apple Music has come under heavy criticism: While its Beats 1 global radio station has been well-received , the streaming service itself has suffered from a number of issues. Music was deleted from users' libraries, and its user interface has also been criticized .

Apple clearly wants customers and commentators to know that it's listening to their complaints — and it's working on them

Later this month, Apple is also holding its Apple Music Festival in London. A rebranded version of its old iTunes Festivals, it's a series of gigs held at the Roundhouse in Camden over 10 days. One Direction, Pharrell Williams, and Disclosure are among the acts playing.

The festival serves as a way to showcase Apple's music services. It doesn't charge an entry fee — instead letting the public apply for a chance to win tickets — and shows off some of the various artists that appear on its services. The performances will be available to stream live on Apple Music, Beats 1 will also offer coverage, and music social network Apple Music Connect is promising "backstage news and footage straight from the artists."

Schusser said: "There's a lot of work going into making the product better.

"Our focus is on editorial and playlists, and obviously we have teams all around the world working on that, but we're also adding features and cleaning up certain things."

He added: "Apple Music Connect is growing big time with more and more artists connecting to their fans, but we still have a bit of homework to be done for the rest of the year."

Responding to critics of the service's usability, Schusser said: "The product is always our priority, and we are getting a lot of feedback.

"Remember, this was a very big launch in 110 markets instantly, so we get a ton of feedback. We're obviously trying to make it better every day."

Elsewhere, the Apple Music Festival announced a load of new acts earlier today , including Take That, The Weeknd and The Chemical Brothers.

Yes. With a Siri-enabled device and any Apple Music plan, you can enjoy all the features of Apple Music and Siri. All plans also support Type to Siri .

What is Dolby Atmos music and how can I listen to it?

Dolby Atmos is an audio technology that creates an immersive listening experience in which sound comes from all around you.

Apple Music subscribers using the latest version of Apple Music on iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV 4K can listen to thousands of Dolby Atmos music tracks using any headphones. When you listen with compatible Apple or Beats headphones or most Bluetooth headphones, Dolby Atmos music plays back automatically when available for a song. For other headphones, go to Settings > Music > Audio and set Dolby Atmos to Always On. You can also hear Dolby Atmos music using the built‑in speakers on a compatible iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, or iMac, or by connecting your Apple TV 4K to one of the following: HomePod speakers set up as the default speakers, a Dolby Atmos–compatible sound bar, a Dolby Atmos–enabled AV receiver, or a television that supports Dolby Atmos audio. For the full list of compatible devices, please see support.apple.com/en-us/HT212182 .

What is lossless audio and how can I listen to it?

Lossless audio compression reduces the original file size of a song while preserving all of the data perfectly. Apple Music is making its entire catalog of more than 100 million songs available in lossless audio at different resolutions. In Apple Music, “Lossless” refers to lossless audio up to 48kHz, and “Hi-Res Lossless” refers to lossless audio from 48kHz to 192kHz. Lossless and Hi-Res Lossless files are very large and use much more bandwidth and storage space than standard AAC files.

You can listen to lossless audio using the latest Apple Music app on an iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV 4K. Turn on lossless audio in Settings > Music > Audio Quality. You can choose between Lossless and Hi-Res Lossless for cellular or Wi-Fi connections. Note that Hi-Res Lossless requires external equipment such as a USB digital to analog converter.

For a full list of compatible devices, please see support.apple.com/en-us/HT212183 .

Can I share with my family?

Yes. With an Apple Music Family Plan, up to six people in the family can enjoy all the features and the full catalog of Apple Music. To get started, just set up Family Sharing on your iOS or iPadOS device, Android phone, or Mac and invite family members to join.

Are there commercials?

Apple Music has zero ads.

You’ll have three months to redeem the offer after the first activation of the eligible device. ◊

What is Apple Music Classical?

Apple Music Classical is a companion app for Apple Music subscribers. Included with Apple Music plans for Individual, Family, and Student subscribers as well as Apple One, at no additional cost, Apple Music Classical is a dedicated classical music service designed by and for all types of classical music listeners. Classical music experts will delight in the largest collection of its kind, excellent search capability, and the high-quality audio that classical music deserves. If you’re new to the genre, you can discover classical music through curated playlists, intuitive browsing, and detailed descriptions of works.

Why a separate app for classical music?

Classical music is different from contemporary genres. Works have multiple movements and tracks; famous pieces have hundreds of recordings with different orchestras, conductors, and soloists. Apple Music Classical is tailored to the needs of classical music lovers — with a unique approach to search, browse, library, and recommendation features. Listeners can also dive deeper with background information about artists, composers, and works.

How do I get Apple Music Classical and where can I listen to it?

You can download the Apple Music Classical app from the App Store or Google Play. It’s available for iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 15.4 or later, and for Android smartphones with Android 6 (Marshmallow) or later.

You’ll also need Apple Music installed on the same device — it’s usually preinstalled on iPhone and iPad.

Apple Music Classical is included with all Apple Music plans at no extra charge — there’s no separate subscription. If you’re not yet an Apple Music subscriber, it’s easy to sign up from Apple Music or Apple Music Classical.

Apple Music Classical has a shared library with Apple Music, which means that the classical tracks, albums, and playlists added in either app are instantly available in the other. You can listen on all your devices and in the car with CarPlay — online or offline.

Is classical music still available in Apple Music?

Yes, both apps offer the largest classical catalog in the world. However, Apple Music Classical includes multiple additional features, such as classical browse, a search engine designed for classical music, handpicked recommendations, composer and artist bios, and descriptions of the works.

Does Apple Music Classical also offer other genres?

No, Apple Music Classical is classical only, but it does include lots of film and other crossover genres with classical music. Apple Music Classical users can also listen to more than 100 million songs on Apple Music through their subscription.

Few records combine sonic innovation with veneration for what came before as succinctly as Daft Punk’s 1997 debut, Homework. The title itself implies this duality: It’s a reference to both the bedroom studio where musicians Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo recorded their early house and techno productions, and a nod to the older artists the duo studied in preparation for their dance music breakthrough. Many of those musical ancestors are name-checked on the Homework track “Teachers,” on which Bangalter and Homem-Christo salute the (mostly) electronic music producers and DJs who inspired their work. That includes plenty of semi-obscure Chicago house music heroes and Detroit and UK techno champions, many of whom predated Daft Punk by a decade—but who were still active in the late-1990s rave scene. By tagging their peers, the members of Daft Punk were expressing solidarity with the many BIPOC artists whom they’d obsessed over for years. It was a declaration of belonging that could have come off as appropriation, had Homework not so fully elevated the genre. Bangalter and Homem-Christo might wear their influences on their sleeve, but their music transcends mere tribute; it’s some of the most unforgettable hook-laden house and techno ever put to wax. When it comes to the dance floor, if a record’s hot, that record is hot. And DJs across the globe pumped Homework’s 16 tracks, which included everything from playful filtered disco (“Revolution 909”) to throttling acid techno (“Rollin’ & Scratchin’”). Meanwhile, radio jocks and MTV programmers on the lookout for format-friendly versions of popular rave sounds swooned over Homework cuts like “Da Funk” and “Around the World,” which became breakout hits, thanks to inventive videos directed, respectively, by Spike Jonez and Michel Gondry. That near-impossible confluence of talent and timing allowed Homework to achieve its position atop every list of 1990s electronic music. As time went on, the members of Daft Punk would prove themselves worthy of every accolade Homework received as they continued to evolve from students to teachers to masters—elevating the state of electronic music every step of the way.

Introduction

Do you ever find yourself wanting to listen to your favorite Apple Music songs even when you don’t have an internet connection? Luckily, Apple Music offers a convenient solution that allows you to download songs and listen to them offline. By downloading your favorite tracks, you can enjoy them anytime, anywhere, without worrying about a stable internet connection.

In this article, we will guide you through the simple steps to download an Apple Music song to your device’s local storage. Whether you’re using an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you’ll be able to create a personalized music library that you can access even when you’re not connected to the internet.

Note that downloading Apple Music songs are only available for subscribers. If you have an active Apple Music subscription, you can take advantage of this feature to ensure uninterrupted music playback, regardless of your internet availability.

So let’s dive in and learn how to download an Apple Music song to your local storage with just a few taps!

Step 1: Open the Apple Music app

To begin, locate the Apple Music app on your device’s home screen. The app icon is recognizable by its vibrant red background with a white music note in the center. Tap on the app icon to launch it.

If you have not yet installed the Apple Music app, you can download it from the App Store. Just open the App Store on your device, search for “Apple Music,” and follow the prompts to install the app.

Once you have opened the Apple Music app, you will be greeted with the various tabs at the bottom of the screen, including “Library,” “For You,” “Browse,” “Radio,” and “Search.” These tabs provide easy access to different sections of Apple Music, allowing you to explore and discover new music.

It’s important to note that in order to download songs on Apple Music, you must have an active Apple Music subscription. If you haven’t signed up for Apple Music yet, you can do so by tapping on the “For You” or “Browse” tab and following the prompts to subscribe.

Once you have successfully opened the Apple Music app and ensured you have a valid subscription, you’re ready to move on to the next step and start downloading your favorite songs!

Step 2: Search for the desired song

Now that you have the Apple Music app open and ready, it’s time to search for the song you want to download. The Apple Music library is expansive, containing millions of tracks across various genres and artists.

To begin your search, tap on the “Search” tab located at the bottom right corner of the app interface. This will take you to the search bar, where you can enter the name of the song or the artist you wish to find.

As you type, Apple Music will dynamically generate search results based on your input. You’ll see a mix of songs, albums, playlists, and more. Make sure to select the song that matches your desired choice.

If you’re not sure about the exact title or artist name, you can utilize additional search filters and categories to narrow down the results. These filters include options such as “Songs,” “Albums,” “Playlists,” and “Music Videos.”

Once you’ve found the song you want to download, simply tap on it to access the individual track page. Here, you can find more details about the song, such as the album it belongs to, the artist, and additional options for adding it to your library or playlists.

If the song you’re looking for does not appear in the search results, it’s possible that it’s not available on Apple Music. In such cases, you may want to explore other music streaming platforms or consider purchasing the song from the iTunes Store.

Once you have successfully located the desired song in the Apple Music search results, you’re ready to move on to the next step and add it to your library for offline listening.

Step 3: Tap on the ellipsis (three dots) button

After finding the desired song in the Apple Music search results, it’s time to take the next step and prepare to download it. To do this, you need to tap on the ellipsis (three dots) button next to the song title. This button is commonly used to access additional options and settings related to the selected song.

Once you tap on the ellipsis button, a menu of options will appear. This menu provides various actions you can take with the song, such as adding it to a playlist, sharing it with others, or saving it to your library.

Among the options listed, you’ll specifically want to select “Add to Library.” This action will ensure that the song is added to your personal library, making it easily accessible for offline playback.

By tapping on “Add to Library,” you’re essentially indicating to Apple Music that you want to save the song to your account, allowing you to download it to your device and enjoy it at your convenience when you’re offline.

It’s important to note that the ellipsis button may also contain other options related to the song, such as “Add to Playlist,” “Start Station,” or “Share Song.” These options provide additional ways to interact with the selected song, but for the purpose of downloading it, make sure to choose “Add to Library.”

Once you have successfully tapped on the ellipsis button and selected “Add to Library,” you’re ready to move on to the next step and access the song in your library.

Step 4: Select the “Add to Library” option

After tapping on the ellipsis button next to the song title, a dropdown menu will appear with various options related to the selected song. Among these options, you need to choose the “Add to Library” option to proceed with the song download.

When you select the “Add to Library” option, Apple Music will add the selected song to your personal library. This action allows you to access and download the song for offline listening, ensuring that it is readily available even when you don’t have an internet connection.

The “Add to Library” option is essential because it signals to Apple Music that you want to save the song to your account. By doing so, you are creating a personalized collection of music that you can easily manage and access across all your devices.

It’s worth mentioning that once you add a song to your library, it’s not limited to just one device. You can access and download the song on any device that is connected to your Apple Music account, whether it’s an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or even a Mac.

By selecting the “Add to Library” option, you’re taking a crucial step in the process of downloading an Apple Music song and ensuring that it becomes part of your personal music collection. With the song successfully added to your library, you’re now ready to move on to the next step and access it for offline playback.

Step 5: Tap the “Library” tab

After selecting the “Add to Library” option for the desired song, you need to navigate to the “Library” tab in the Apple Music app. This tab allows you to manage and access the songs you’ve added to your personal collection, including those you want to download for offline listening.

To access the “Library” tab, simply tap on the corresponding icon located at the bottom right corner of the app interface. The icon typically resembles a stack of books or music notes, representing your personalized music library.

By tapping on the “Library” tab, you’ll be taken to a screen that displays your entire music collection. Here, you’ll find a list of categories, including “Playlists,” “Songs,” “Artists,” “Albums,” and more.

To proceed with downloading the desired song, you can navigate through the categories or use the search bar at the top of the screen to locate the specific song. Once you find the song in your library, you’re one step closer to downloading it for offline playback.

The “Library” tab not only provides a centralized location for managing your music collection, but it also serves as a convenient access point to download songs and ensure you can enjoy them without an internet connection.

After tapping the “Library” tab and locating the desired song, you’re prepared to move on to the next step and initiate the download process.

Step 6: Find the song in your Library

Once you have tapped on the “Library” tab in the Apple Music app, it’s time to locate the song you want to download for offline listening. The “Library” tab serves as a central hub for managing and accessing all the songs you’ve added to your personal collection.

Depending on your preferred organization method, you can navigate through the different categories such as “Playlists,” “Songs,” “Artists,” or “Albums.” These categories make it easier to find specific songs within your music library.

If you remember the name of the song or the artist, you can use the search bar located at the top of the screen to quickly locate the desired song. Simply type in the name of the song or the artist, and Apple Music will dynamically generate search results based on your input.

Alternatively, you can browse through your library by scrolling through the different categories. For example, if you know the song was part of a specific playlist, tap on “Playlists” and locate that particular playlist. Then, find the song within that playlist.

Once you have successfully located the song in your library, you’ll be able to see the title, artist, album, and other relevant details about the track. This information ensures that you have chosen the correct song and can proceed with the download process.

Remember, to download the song for offline listening, it should have the cloud icon with the down arrow next to it. If the song does not have the cloud icon, it means it is already downloaded to your device and ready for offline playback.

After finding the desired song in your library, you’re now ready to move on to the next step and initiate the download process.

Step 7: Tap the ellipsis (three dots) button next to the song title

Once you have found the desired song in your library, the next step is to tap on the ellipsis (three dots) button next to the song title. This button provides access to additional options and settings related to the selected song, including the option to download it for offline listening.

By tapping on the ellipsis button, a menu will appear with various actions and choices for the selected song. This menu allows you to perform tasks such as adding the song to a playlist, sharing it with others, or deleting it from your library.

To proceed with downloading the song, look for the option that says “Download” or “Download Song” in the menu. This option indicates that the song is not yet downloaded to your device and allows you to save it locally for offline playback.

If you see the “Download” option in the menu, it means the song is currently available for download. Tapping on this option will initiate the download process, and Apple Music will begin downloading the song to your device’s local storage.

On the other hand, if the song already has the cloud icon with the down arrow next to it, it means the song is already downloaded and available for offline listening. In such cases, you do not need to tap the ellipsis button or initiate any download action, as the song is already accessible offline.

It’s important to note that the ellipsis button may also contain other options related to the song, such as “Add to Playlist,” “Start Station,” or “Share Song.” These options provide additional ways to interact with the selected song, but for the purpose of downloading it, make sure to choose the “Download” option.

Once you have successfully tapped on the ellipsis button and selected the appropriate download option, the chosen song will begin downloading to your device, ensuring that you can enjoy it offline whenever you want.

Step 8: Choose the “Download” option

After tapping the ellipsis button next to the song title, you will see a menu with several options related to the selected song. Among these options, you need to choose the “Download” option to initiate the process of downloading the song for offline listening.

Selecting the “Download” option tells Apple Music to start downloading the song to your device’s local storage. This ensures that you can access and enjoy the song even when you don’t have an internet connection.

When you choose the “Download” option, Apple Music will begin transferring the selected song from its online database to your device. The progress of the download will be displayed, allowing you to monitor how quickly the song is being downloaded.

It’s important to note that the time it takes to download a song will depend on various factors, including the size of the song file, the speed of your internet connection, and the current availability of the Apple Music servers.

During the download process, you may notice a cloud icon with a progress bar next to the song title. This indicates that the song is being downloaded, and the progress bar will show you how much of the song has been successfully downloaded.

Once the song is completely downloaded, the cloud icon will be replaced by a checkmark or a downward arrow. This indicates that the song is now available for offline playback, and you can enjoy it without relying on an internet connection.

Remember that you can repeat this process for multiple songs, downloading as many songs as you want to create a personalized music library for offline listening.

Now that you have chosen the “Download” option, you can navigate to the “Library” tab and start enjoying your favorite songs even when you’re not connected to the internet.
