Here we are providing speeches for the students on 75th Republic Day. Students can participate actively in the Republic Day celebration using any given speech. All the speeches for the students are written in very easy and simple language so that they can present their best speech on  Republic Day

R espected Principal, teachers, and my dear friends,

First of all, I would like to thank you for giving me such a great opportunity to speak on Republic Day.

Today, we all have gathered here to celebrate the 76th Republic Day of our nation. This is a great and auspicious occasion for all of us. We should congratulate each other and pray to God for the development and prosperity of our nation.

We celebrate Republic Day in India on 26th January every year because the Constitution of India came into force on this day. We have been celebrating Republic Day of India continuously since 1950 because the Constitution of India came into force on 26 January 1950.

Republic means the supreme power of the people living in the country and only the people have the right to choose their representatives as political leaders to lead the country in the right direction. Therefore, India is a republic country where the people choose their leader as the Prime Minister.

Our great Indian freedom fighters fought a lot for “Purna Swaraj” in India. He sacrificed his life so that his future generation does not have to struggle and they take the country forward.

India is a democratic country where the people are empowered to choose their leader to lead the country. Dr. Rajendra Prasad was the first President of India. Ever since we got independence from British rule in 1947, our country has developed a lot and is counted among the most powerful countries.

With the development, some shortcomings have also arisen like inequality, poverty, unemployment, corruption, illiteracy, etc. To make our country the best country in the world, we need to take a pledge today to solve such problems in society.

Now, I am going to end my speech with these words, thank you So Much.

Jay Hind Jay Bharat

Republic Day specch 2025

26 January 2024 republic day speech in English

G ood morning to all my respected teachers, guardians, and dear friends.

India is a self-governing country since 15 August 1947. India got independence from British rule on 15th August in 1947, which we celebrate as Independence Day. However, since 1950 on 26 January we celebrate Republic Day.

The Constitution of India came into force on 26 January 1950, so we celebrate this day as Republic Day every year. In this year 2024, we are celebrating the 75th Republic Day of India.

India is a democratic country, which has no king or queen to rule here, although the people here are the rulers here. Every citizen living in this country has equal rights, no one can become Chief Minister or Prime Minister without our vote. We have the right to choose our best prime minister or any other leader to lead the country in the right direction.

Our leader should have enough skill to think in favor of his country. He should think equally about all the states, villages, and cities of the country so that India can become a well-developed country without any discrimination of race, religion, poor, rich, upper class, middle class, lower class, illiteracy, etc.

The great leaders and freedom fighters of our country are Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Lala Lajpat Rai, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Lal Bahadur Shastri, etc. To make India a free country, these people fought continuously against the British, so we can never forget their dedication to our country.

We should salute them on such great occasions by remembering them. It is only because of these people that we can think with our minds and live freely in our nation without any pressure.

Our first Indian President was Dr. Rajendra Prasad who said that “Under the jurisdiction of one Constitution and one Union, we have got together the entire part of this vast land which is the population of more than 320 crore men and women living here- Takes responsibility for welfare” .

What a shame it is to say that we are still fighting crime, corruption, and violence in our country. Again, everyone needs to be together to save the country from such slavery as it is holding back our country from going into its mainstream of development and progress.

We should go ahead and be aware of our social issues like poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, global warming, inequality, etc. to solve them.

Dr. Abdul Kalam has said that “If a country becomes corruption-free and becomes a nation of a beautiful mind, I strongly feel that there are three prime members who can make a difference. He is father, mother, and a guru”. As a citizen of India, we should think about it seriously and make all possible efforts to take forward our country.

Now I am going to conclude my speech, thank you all for being here and making this program a success.

Jai Hind /Jai Bharat

Speech on Republic Day

Republic Day Speech in English for students

As we all know that we all have gathered here on the very special occasion of our nation which is called Republic Day.

I want to deliver a speech on Republic Day in front of all of you. First of all, I would like to thank my class teacher because of whom I got a golden opportunity to say something about my beloved country on this great occasion of Republic Day on this platform of my school.

Today we all are celebrating the 75th Republic Day of our nation. After two and a half years of India’s independence in 1947, it started celebrating from the year 1950. We celebrate it every year on 26th January because on this day the Constitution of India came into existence.

Our country became independent on 15th August 1947 after a long war of independence and lakhs of sacrifices. But still, this freedom was incomplete because at that time our country was divided into many pieces, which was the biggest challenge of the country to unite.

Because our country did not have any written constitution of its own. No development is possible without discipline, be it a person or a country. Keeping this in mind, the Constituent Assembly was formed, which had 299 members.

It was presided over by Dr. Rajendra Prasad. Its first meeting was held in December 1946. And in 2 years 11 months 18 days it was finally completed on 26 November 1949. It was implemented across the country on 26 January 1950.

There is also a historical story behind this, as this day was not chosen for Republic Day. There is a big reason behind this. It was on this day, 26 January 1930, in the Lahore session of the Congress that declared Poorna Swaraj on the banks of the Ravi river.

As Indian citizens, we are also fully responsible for our country. We should make ourselves regular, read the news and be aware of the happenings in the country, what is happening right and wrong, what our leaders are doing, and first of all what we are doing for our country.

Earlier, India was a slave country under British rule which got freedom after many years of struggle through the sacrifices of thousands of our freedom fighters. Therefore, we should not easily let go of all our precious sacrifices and again let it become a slave to corruption, illiteracy, inequality, and other social discrimination.

Today is the best day when we should pledge to preserve the real meaning, status, prestige of our country, and most importantly the culture of humanity.

The great heroes of our country have fulfilled their responsibility by giving us freedom and making a constitution. In a democracy, there is a system of the people, the people are the people. Therefore, it becomes our fundamental duty to protect and respect the system and constitution of our country.

Addressing you today on this auspicious occasion, I end my speech by paying my respects and tributes to those great revolutionaries.

Many thanks to all of you…

Bharat Mata ki Jay… Jay Hind

I hope guys, you like this Republic Day speech please share it with your students.

Happy Republic Day Speech 2024

Good morning to everyone who is present over here on the prosperous occasion of 26 January Republic Day. A Happy Republic Day is celebrated every year on the 26th of January. This year India will celebrate its 75th Republic Day 2024 .

Why do we celebrate Republic Day? India Republic day is celebrated to remember the historic moment when our nation became an independent republic country. As we all know that India got its independence on 15th August 1947 and the country didn’t have its own constitution, instead India was governed by the laws implemented by the British. However after many deliberations and amendments, a committee headed by Dr. B.R Ambedkar submitted a draft of the Indian constitution, which was adopted on 26th November 1949 and officially came into effect on 26 January 1950.

On the same day, Dr Rajendra Prasad also began his term as the first President of India. And the Constituent Assembly became the Parliament of India under provisions of the new Constitution.

Ever since Independence, the main celebration of Happy Republic Day has been held at the national capital, New Delhi at the Rajpath in the presence of the President, Prime minister, and other high-ranking officials of India.

As a tribute to India, on Republic Day ceremonial parades take place at the Rajpath. The celebration begins from the gates of Rashtrapati Bhavan followed by Raisina hill on the Rajpath past the Indian gate is the main attraction on Happy Republic Day. After the ceremonial parade, there is a presence of various dignitaries like the President, Prime minister, and other higher government officials at the Rajpath.

Every year as a part of celebrations, India has been hosting guests of honour, that could be the head of the state or government of other countries, for the 26 January Republic Day celebration at the capital. This has been the case since 1950, for example on 26 January 2021, the former president of the united states of America Barack Obama was the guest of honour on 26 January Republic Day. Sadly due to the COVID outbreak, there wasn’t any guest of honour for the 72nd Republic Day celebration. In 2024, India will be honored to host France's President Emmanuel Macron as the chief guest for a Happy  Republic Day celebrations, fostering diplomatic ties and cultural exchange between the two nations.

The flag hoisting ceremony at the Rajpath in the national capital takes place mostly at 8:00 AM, which is followed by a Republic day speech by the President and a Republic Day parade.

26 January Republic Day March is considered to be an eye-catching element of the festival and it showcases Indian cultural and social heritage. It also showcases the Indian Defence Capability. Nine to twelve different regiments of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, accompanied by their bands, march in all their official decorations. The President of India, who is the Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Armed Forces, takes the salute.

On this prestigious occasion the heroes of our country, the soldiers are not forgotten. Prestigious awards will be given away to the martyrs and the heroes who have dedicated their lives to protect the country at any cost.

India Republic day is celebrated in every school, college, and office with great enthusiasm and energy. In schools, various competitions are held which include dancing, singing, and giving a Happy Republic Day speech.

But beyond it all, the constitution declares that India is a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic. It assures its citizens’ justice, equality, liberty, and fraternity. It also gives us our rights and duties as citizens. On this Happy Republic Day 2024, I hope that no matter who we are, rich or poor, a powerful politician or a regular citizen, we continue to respect these basic principles and values given to us by our amazing constitution. So that, as we move forward and continue to build this nation, we do not leave behind the foundation on which our country is built.

I want to end this speech by saying that India is a democratic country. The citizens living in a democratic country enjoy the privilege to elect their leader to lead the country.

Although we have seen a lot of economic improvements and success as a country, we still have many hurdles in our paths, such as poverty, unemployment, and pollution. It is our duty as citizens to face these challenges and come out stronger on the other side.

Now we know why do we celebrate Republic Day. So one thing we all can do today is to promise each other that we will become a better version of ourselves so that we could contribute to solving all these problems and making our nation a better place. Thank you, Happy Republic Day and Jai Hind.

On January 26, 1950, our nation transformed into a sovereign, democratic republic, casting off the shackles of colonial rule and embracing the ideals of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.

The Constitution of India, which came into effect on this auspicious day, serves as our guiding light, providing a comprehensive framework for governance. It not only safeguards the fundamental rights of every citizen but also lays the foundation for a just and inclusive society. Students, as the future custodians of our nation, must familiarize themselves with the values enshrined in the Constitution and actively contribute to the realization of its principles.

Republic Day is not merely a commemoration; it is a celebration of our unity in diversity. Our nation’s rich tapestry of cultures, languages, and traditions is woven into the fabric of our Constitution, emphasizing the importance of coexistence and mutual respect. As students, let us cherish this diversity and work towards fostering an environment where every individual feels valued and included.

The youth of our country plays a pivotal role in shaping its destiny. Today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders, and it is imperative that we understand the responsibilities that come with this role. Republic Day serves as a poignant reminder that the progress of our nation lies in the hands of its citizens, especially the younger generation.

In conclusion, as we mark Republic Day 2024, let us reflect on the journey that brought us here and the responsibilities that lie ahead. Let the principles of our Constitution guide us, and may our collective efforts contribute to the continued growth and prosperity of our beloved nation. Jai Hind!

Republic Day Speech in Hindi

As Hindi is the most widely spoken language in India, we have provided the Republic Day Speech in Hindi below for the convenience of Hindi board students.

As students and future leaders, we need to understand our responsibilities to our country. We should respect our national symbols, follow the rules, and work to make our society better. Remember, even small actions like keeping our surroundings clean or helping others matter.

Let’s promise on Republic Day to follow the values our Constitution teaches us and work together for a peaceful and successful India. Let’s be proud of our nation’s diverse culture and rich heritage. Happy Republic Day to everyone!

May this day inspire us all to be better citizens and make positive contributions to our great nation.

Republic Day Speech for Students in English:

Good morning to our honored Principal Sir / Madam, Respected teachers, and all my classmates.

India is going to celebrate 71st Republic Day on 26 January 2021.

To begin with, I wish you all a very Joyful Republic Day, on 26 January 1950, the Constitution of India came into force, so we rejoice this day because of the Republic Day of India.

However, the Constitution was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949.

On 26 January, India was declared Purna Swaraj by the Indian National Congress in 1930, that’s why 26 January was chosen to implement the Indian Constitution.

Republic means the individuals (supreme power) residing within the nation, only the public has the right to lead the nation in the right path as a political leader to elect their representatives.

So, India is a republic nation the place we choose our leaders as President, Prime Minister, and many others.

Our Constitution lays down the fundamental rights and duties of the individuals of the Republic in India.

Each citizen of India is equal within the eyes of the legislation, and nobody needs to be troubled by religion, creed, caste, colour or race.

Wish you all a very happy Republic Day once again and hope that we will soon achieve the goals of development and prosperity together!

Jai Hind. Jai Bharat.

Republic Day Speech for Teachers in English:

Good morning to all you.

I am very excited to say something about our country on the occasion of this reward for India known as Republic Day, it is celebrated from 1950 to 26 January.

Today we all came here on 26 January 1950 to celebrate our nation’s 73 public festival.

The Constitution of India came into force, so we celebrate this day because the Republic Day of India however, the Constitution was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949.

On 26 January, India was declared Purna Swaraj by the Indian National Congress in 1930, therefore 26 January was chosen to implement the Indian Constitution.

On Republic Day, a grand preparation is made by the Government of India in New Delhi on Rajpath opposite India Gate.

Every year, the Prime Minister of India is the chief guest to hoist the Indian flag on the Rajpath, the military and all forces participate within the parade to showcase India’s tradition and custom.

We also invite the Chief Guest from different nations, this reflects our custom of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’.

The President of India, Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Armed Forces and the Prime Minister of India at Amar Jawan Jyoti, pays floral tributes to the sacrificed Indian soldiers at India Gate.

Our great Indian freedom fighters and Indian leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Lala Lajpat Rai, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Lal Bahadur Shastri fought against British rule to make India an independent nation.

Republic means the supreme power, the people residing in the country and the public has the right to elect a representative as a political leader who leads the country in the right direction.

Subsequently, India is a republic nation where the people of India elect our leaders as President, Prime Minister and so forth.

Our Constitution had laid a few fundamental rights and duties of the people of the Indian Republic.

Each citizen of India is equal within the eyes of legislation and nobody has to suffer due to religion, creed, caste, colour or race.

Once again Happy Republic day to all of you and we are going to obtain the objectives of improvement and prosperity together.

Republic Day of India Speech by the Principal:

Hello everybody,

I welcome all of the friends of honour, lecturers and college students to our Republic Day celebrations.

Today we’re here to have a good time one of the memorable days of India.

We hoisted the national flag within the morning and saluted our flag and the freedom fighters of our nation.

The Indian Constitution is the largest constitution in the world and there are many rules and laws for every task.

Subsequently, on 26 January 1950, the Constitution came into existence and the day became one of the national festivals.

We have completed 71 years of our republic nation and now this year we will celebrate 72nd Republic Day of India.

The Indian Constitution gives the rights to Indian people the right to choose their leaders.

All men and women who are 18+ have the right to choose their leaders using their voter ID card and Aadhaar card, then can give their vote to any leader they want.

India is the largest democratic country in the world and in our country, there are common rules and laws for both men and women.

Now you can see that the women of our country are on top positon in every field like education, political, military, doctors and many more.

This is a proof that the women of our country are the bravest girls and women, so they needs to be respected.

Our country got independence in 1947 but our citizens have not got full freedom yet, because when women and girls are not safe.

There are some demons who did not respect women and girls.

There are a lot of cases against women these days, so I request all of you to kindly respect and honour ladies, in order that they really feel secure and help them if they need your help.

Help each other, God will help you. Jai Hind.

Republic Day Speech- 26 January 2022 Speech:

Good morning to all the respected teachers and my dear friends.

The Republic Day of India is celebrated on 26th of every year within the month of January. It is among the nationwide occasions of India.

There are three national holidays in India, the primary Republic Day which is also called Republic Day or 26 January, the second is Independence Day which is often known as Independence Day or 15 August.

The third is the birthday of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, known as Gandhi Jayanti on 2 October.

All of them are celebrated with tricolour hoisting, national anthem, cultural programs, patriotic songs, nationwide holiday parade, and so on.

26 January is a day which is the history of our country, the citizens of India get a constitution on this historic day.

People of the country celebrate this day with great splendor and pleasure, the Constitution of India came into force on this day, which is the biggest moment for the Indian people.

India became a democratic nation after Republic Day in 1950. Dr. BR Ambedkar was the one who wrote the Constitution of India in two languages (Hindi and English).

The history of Republic Day is written in golden words within the history of India, remembering the sacrifice of our great freedom fighters and becoming a democratic nation, we have fun this day every year.

The celebration of Republic Day is not only celebrated for fun and enjoyable but it is our responsibility to remember all our freedom fighters and thank them for an independent nation or a democratic nation.

26 january speech

Republic Day Speech in English- History of Indian Republic Day:

To begin with, I convey my best wishes to our respected Principal, our respected teachers, and my fellow classmates.

We have gathered here to celebrate the auspicious occasion of our nation’s 71st Republic Day.

I want to wish all of you a very Happy Republic Day. I had the privilege of sharing a glimpse history of Republic Day of our wonderful nation.

After attaining independence from British rule on 15 August 1947, India did not have a permanent constitution, however all legal guidelines have been primarily based on the Revised Colonial Government Act 1935.

But on 28 August 1947, BR Ambedkar, along with Drafting Committee was made a permanent constitution.

After several amendments to the Constitution, the final draft was signed on 24 January 1950 by 308 members of the Legislative Assembly.

Two days later, the new Constitution of India came into force on 26 January 1950 and India became a republic nation.

A democratic republic nation, ruled not by king or queen but ruled by a government elected by the general public of the country.

The Constitution also encouraged equal social and economic rights to all citizens.

So let us gather on this cheerful and momentary day and promise to always maintain the sovereignty that our country has achieved with priceless sacrifices.

With these polite words, I bow my head to the tricolor and to each one of you I say, Jai Hind, Jai Bharat.

Important of Republic- 26 January Speech:

Good morning to our esteemed Principal Sir / Madam, Respected teachers, and all my classmates.

First of all, I wish to thank my class-teacher who gave me the opportunity to share some of my thoughts on India’s 71st Republic Day.

Republic Day is likely one of the most patriotic days for all Indian citizens as India was declared a secular, sovereign and democratic nation on this present day.

But what does republic really mean?

This means that all decisions are made by representatives who were elected by the citizens of the nation rather than elected by a hereditary monarchy.

The decisions are in accordance with the rules of the Constitution, the day the country became a republic.

But why is it important that a country should be a republic?

It matters because it affects political culture, helping to balance power between government, parliament and the common people.

Ordinary citizens will have the ability to take part in the process of choosing the leaders of state and nation.

As well as, all residents enjoy fundamental rights such as the suitable to equality, right to freedom, right to freedom of faith, right to cultural and education, right to privacy, right to constitutional remedies and right against exploitation.

All these rights not only provide safety to frequent individuals but also stop human rights and make the lives of individuals peaceful and harmonious.

Thank you. Jai Hind. Jai Bharat.

Good Morning, Ladies and Gentlemen; first of all, I wish you a very Happy Republic Day. It is an important day for all the Indians. Today, when a few fellow Indians talk about the fear of losing basic rights that the constitution has given us, this day becomes more important. Although we have celebrated Republic Day as a national festival since our childhood, we understand the real importance of this day when we grow up.

Gantantra Diwas is celebrated on 26 th January every year. On this day in 1950, the Constitution of India came into effect. Our constitution gives us various rights and responsibilities, too. We live in a democratic country where people enjoy their fundamental rights. In society, we have different castes, religions, and many other things that separate us, but on a broader picture, we all are Indians. India is a land that is a great example of “Unity in Diversity”. The beauty of our country is we have different languages, and we also have conflicts and differences, but on national festivals, we all stand as a united force.

Republic Day Speech in Hindi

Since childhood, 26 th January has been a memorable day for all of us. Many of us may recall this day as a festival and celebrate it in schools by participating in cultural programs and other activities. For a few of us, this is the day we get up to watch the Republic Day parade. The military parade starts from Vijay Chowk and culminates at the Red Fort in the national capital i.e. Delhi. The weapons and the army’s equipment in the parade reflect the power of our armed forces.

On this day, awards and medals of bravery are also given to the armed forces and to civilians too. The main attraction for the bravery awards is the young kids who are awarded by the prime minister for showing ultimate bravery.  When the helicopters of the armed forces fly past the parade area, and shower rose petals on the audience, everyone feels special. The program ends with the national anthem. Whether you are at home or watching the parade personally, you get up to give respect to the national anthem. It’s a day that makes us think beyond caste, creed, religion, state, language, and colour, and we all feel the same emotion of loving our country.

Republic Day Speech for Kids (sample)

Respected Principal, Teachers, and all my dear friends.

Today, I am standing in front of you to deliver a speech on Republic Day. Before moving forward, I would like to wish all of you who are present here a Happy Republic Day.

I was so enthralled when my class teacher told me a few days back that you have been selected to deliver a speech on the 26 th of January. I am excited but a bit nervous also because I never gave a speech earlier in my school life.

As you all know, today we have gathered here to celebrate the auspicious day of Republic Day, which we also know as “Gantantra Divas”, and as we all know, on this day in 1950, our full constitution came into effect. However, it was adopted on the 26th of November 1949 under the chairmanship of our beloved Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, and we all know him as the father of the Indian Constitution; he was one of the greatest leaders of modern India at that time.

It’s a Gazetted holiday, but schools remain open to organize different functions in their school just as we are doing. Students perform several cultural activities and sing patriotic songs to remember our freedom fighters and celebrate the big day.

Our principal hoists the national flag; similarly, the president of India hoists the flag at Rajpath, and every year, they invite special chief guests from different countries.

On the eve of Republic Day, our president gave a speech in the name of the Nation.

The president of India gave some important awards like Ashoka Chakra and Kirti Chakra to the soldiers of India and bravery awards to the citizens of India.

Every school, college, and government office celebrates this day with zeal and enthusiasm.

But the biggest celebration is observed at the Rajpath in New Delhi. Where thousands of people gathered to watch the RDC parade. Chief guests from different world countries are invited to witness the celebration every year. The parade’s main attraction is the tableau of the selected states through which they showcase the culture and tradition of their states. The preparation for this parade started at least six months before Republic Day. Artists and students from different parts of the country participate in this celebration to make it memorable and grand.

But when our soldiers came with their battalion and all of their arms and ammunition in the parade, the audience got goosebumps and fill pride at the same time.

And at last, when our Air Force fighter pilots came with their jets and created our national flag tricolour in the sky, it became such a proud moment for every Indian.

It’s the day you can hear patriotic songs in every nook and corner of our street, and everyone celebrates this day with brotherhood and distributing sweets.

When our constitution came into effect, we had some common issues and still today, we are also facing some common issues like cleanliness, education, unemployment, and many others to resolve their government also launched some schemes like Swatch Bharat Abhiyan , Beti padhao Beti Bachao , skill India, make in India and many more but we cannot depend fully on the shoulders of our government we need to do something for our country and we all must take a step to make a better and stronger Nation.

We must keep the ideas that were mentioned in the constitution of India, which are justice for everyone, equality, liberty, fraternity, and sovereignty. We should not forget the ideas of our Gandhi Bapu, and we need to implement them in our lives to make our nation strong.

So let’s take a pledge that we all will maintain peace and harmony and must remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighters so that we can value the freedom which we got just because of their sacrifices. Before I conclude my speech, I would like to say, “Patriotism is just like charity; it must begin at home.”

!!!!Jai Hind and Vande Mataram!!!!

Republic Day Speech For Students

All the national festivals are very special for all the Indians, but during school days, their charm is different. In schools, the preparation to celebrate national festivals starts before a few weeks.  Teachers and students both work hard to make the national festival a memorable day for the school, guests, and students. Soon, the first national festival of 2023 will come, and most of the students must have started their preparation for this day.

As you already know we all celebrate the 26th of January as Republic Day because, on the same day in 1950, the constitution of India was implemented. From 26th January 1950 onwards India has its own rules and law. Celebrating Republic Day and other national festivals at the school level is important. When kids go to school, they get curious to know more about everything. If you give them education and information on nationalism, they will surely love their country and become ideal citizens.

National festivals are also important to celebrate in schools because they allow students to perform their art on the stage. You can participate in singing, dancing, and sports activities or deliver a speech on 26th January. If you want to throw a Republic Day speech, we have some help for you. Though in a speech, you will have to speak your mind, there is nothing wrong with getting help from others. Here, we have compiled a few points that you can include in your speech. Before delivering and compiling a Republic Day speech,, you must remember that having eye contact with people sitting in the hall/ audience is very important.

On 26 th January 1950, our country got its constitution. We got our independence on 15 th August 1947 , but before 26th January 1950, we followed the British laws and rules. Since 26th January 1950, we have had our own rules and laws that are implemented for all Indians.

Our constitution has come into existence after many debates and amendments. On 26 November 1949, the drafting committee of the constitution was formed and Dr B. R. Ambedkar was appointed chairperson of the committee. After a debate in both houses, the constitution came into existence, and we became a republic country. A republic means that the country’s citizens hold supreme power to elect representatives. The Constitution gives all of us the same rights despite differences in religion, colour, or language.

A grand celebration of Republic day is held in the Capital of India, Delhi. On this day, ceremonial parades take place at the Rajpath in the presence of the President. The celebration starts at the gates of the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The President of India unfurled the national flag and addressed the nation with a Republic Day speech. The prestigious awards of the country are also given to martyrs and heroes of the army and civilians on this day.

Republic Day Speech for Teachers in English

It is an important day for all of us, but for teachers, the significance of this day is a bit more. Being a teacher is a responsible job, and it is not just their duty but a responsibility to tell the students about the importance of Republic Day and other national festivals.

On this day, cultural programs are organized in schools. The main motive for celebrating Republic Day in school is to tell them about the Constitution and its importance and introduce them to the mindset of our great leaders who played an important role in making and implementing the Constitution of India.

To tell the students about 26 th January, the Republic Day teachers are asked to deliver a speech on this day. Being a teacher, you need to deliver an impressive speech, and it should be informative, too. So here we have compiled a speech for you. You can take help from this to deliver a great speech to your students on Republic Day.

Republic Day Speech For Teacher (Sample)

First of all, I would like to say thanks to the respected guest who came here to encourage us and the students despite having a busy schedule. I want to say thanks to the principal, my colleagues, and all the students who have participated in today’s program.  As we all know, today our country is celebrating ‘Republic Day’. On this day back in 1950, our constitution came into force. The constitution is like a religious book for a country, and we need to give it the same respect as we give to our religious book.

As our religious books tell us what we should do and what actions we should avoid, in the same way, the constitution of India suggests to us what we should do as citizens of the country and what actions we need to avoid. We have some rules and regulations in schools, and in the same way, we have to follow some regulations to be in this country.

Our constitution has given us a few responsibilities and a few rights, too. As both rights and responsibilities come together, we are expected to fulfil the responsibility as a citizen first before claiming our rights. You have the right to get an education, but you also carry the responsibility to be an obedient student.

Many top leaders play a prominent role in the preparation of the constitution of India. Dr B. R. Ambedkar was the chairman of the constitution drafting committee. At that time, when India had many social issues like casteism and others, the constitution gave the right to equality. When the country was facing riots and witnessed the partition based on religion our constitution-makers chose to make India a republic and democratic country. We all are proud of the equality we get here, and it’s given to us by our constitution. So, happy Republic Day! Celebrate this day as a festival because, on this day, India became a republic country.

Republic Day Speech in English (sample)

I am feeling so lucky that I am standing in front of you because so many contenders wanted to give a speech on the auspicious day of the 26th of January. I am not a good orator, so please pardon me if I make any mistakes…

I can see some faces in the crowd that are not looking so happy because they are hoping that I am going to give them a lecture on the 26th of January, but you don’t need to worry because I am not going to give you any lecture on Republic Day. After all, it’s a day of celebration; it’s a day of the birth of our constitution.

But its Republic Day so I will put some interesting facts in front of you

Republic day! when you heard this word, what was the first thing that came to your mind

Tell me honestly!

Yeah, some of them are whispering holiday-holiday…

You know I still remember that day…

When I was just 10 years old and I didn’t know anything about Republic Day…

Why do we celebrate it? And why does it come on the 26th of January every year…

Like others earlier, it was also a holiday for me too…

But one day on the 26th of January, when I was playing outside, my father called me and asked me…

Why didn’t you go to school today?

I said it was a holiday… He asked me why.

I said it’s a Republic Day…

He asked me do you know what that was (Republic Day)?

I nodded my head and said no…

Then my father told me about the day when our freedom fighters fought for our independence, and so many of them sacrificed their lives, how we got independence, how our constitution was formed and how our republic day came into effect on the 26th of January 1950.

The very next year, my father took me to Delhi for the RDC (Republic Day celebration), and I got to know more about it there… because visuals teach us more

And look, today we are celebrating the 75th Republic Day, and to celebrate this important day, we have come a long way.

Does anyone know when the Indian constituent assembly adopted our constitution?

Must be you forget it….

Ok, let me remind you once again… it was adopted on the 26 th of November 1949 and came into effect on the 26th Jan 1950.

OK, do you know under whose chairmanship our full constitution was drafted?

Yes, it’s Dr B.R. Ambedkar, and you know some of their friends called him Babasaheb.

Every year, we celebrated the grand Republic day in New Delhi at Rajpath, and a special chief guest was also invited for the day.

The event of Republic Day started with the arrival of the President of India, whom we also called the first citizen of India. Then our national anthem played, and after that, 21 gun salutes were also given in honour, but…

Do you know they didn’t fire the salutes with 21 canons? instead of that, they fired three times with 7 canons of the Indian Army, which was known as “25 Ponders”, and interestingly fired a match with the national anthem

Now, may I ask you something…?

Does anyone know what Rajpath’s previous name was?

Hmm, it seems like I had delivered a googly this time…

Rajpath previous name is “King’s Way”

And this year also, India has invited Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro

Ok let me check your general knowledge now. Does anyone know who is our first-ever chief guest in RDC

Deep silences, hmm…

Ok, do not stare at me. It’s the President of Indonesia, Dr Sukarno

From our childhood, I have learned that there are six fundamental rights in our constitution

  • Right to equality
  • Right to freedom
  • Right against exploitation
  • Right to freedom of religion
  • Cultural and educational rights
  • And a right to constitutional remedies

But a few years back they added one more to the list do you know what was it?

  • It was right to education

We are adding the right to education but we are not able to teach our kids about our independence… our constitution

Most of them don’t know why we celebrate these days, and even…

Some of them can’t differentiate between Republic Day and Independence Day

Our ancestor fought for independence, but today’s generation don’t know anything about them

Do you know Bhagat Singh left his home at the age of just 13 and died for the freedom of our country when he was just 23…?

You should ask a question to yourself have you done anything in your life for your country

We all parents need to take our children at a young age to such places where they can learn about our country, especially on Republic Day and Independence Day.

So that they can tell the next generation about our country and the importance of Republic Day and Independence Day

Must tell them it’s not a holiday because someone has to pay off their life for this day

Every school and college must celebrate this day full of joy just as they celebrate their convocation… fresher party… and farewell party

So that every child must wait for this day desperately every year

Let us remain this day republic day, not a holiday

Now I have to sign off but before doing that I recall the famous quote by “Mark Twain” he said…

“Indian is the cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend, and the great grand-mother of tradition. Our most valuable and most astrictive materials in the history of man are treasured up in India only”!

“We are the Indian firstly and lastly”

– By B. R Ambedkar

Jai Hind…. Vande Mataram…

Every year, all Indians celebrate January 26 as the Republic Day since 1950 when the Constitution of India came into existence. Great enthusiasm and patriotism is observed that day. On this day along with all government offices, schools and educational institutions also organise events for the celebration.

On the the speech given is very important regardless of the place where the event is being organised. The most important thing that has to be kept in mind is that the speech should be inspirational and motivating. Speeches given in schools should be very carefully written.

In this article

Have a quick look at few tips for preparing a Republic Day speech for your child.

Although you are familiar with all the basics, it is advisable to research on the topic and related aspects on internet. Here you will also get some ideas about how to celebrate the day in a different and unique way. Collect important points and then prepare the speech. You can add facts from the history and mention the sacrifices of the freedom fighters also.

Every speech has to be prepared by keeping the duration in mind. So, you need to know what time the speaker would be given so that you plan out the length of the speech. After all, you cannot end any speech abruptly.

Every speech has to fit into a format. Depending on the place, type of audience and the age of the speaker, you need to take the decision of the format or style of your speech. Normally, dividing the speech into three parts would be ideal. The first part must include greetings for the special day and what is Republic Day and why do we celebrate it. The second part should be about discussing the present condition of India and the last part can include how you see India in future. However, do not forget to thank your audience in the end.

No matter whether you have prepared the speech for yourself or for your child, practicing it is very important. Memorize it because the best way to is to speak up spontaneously.

Today we have gathered here to celebrate the 65th Republic Day of India. On this auspicious day I convey my greetings to all our countrymen and pray for the prosperity and overall development for our nation. It is a privilege that I got an opportunity to speak on this occasion.

You all know that we got independence on , 1947. But we became a republic country when our constitution came into existence from January 26, 1950. Our constitution was prepared by . Dr. Rajendra Prasad became the first President of India and the first general elections were held in our country in 1952.

In the past 65 years our country has gone through many changes. The command of the country came into the hands of the people and India became a democratic country. Along with lots of development, there are some pitfalls that have also come in the way. Unemployment and corruption has grown up very fast. We should take a pledge to find solution to these problems so that our country becomes the best place to live on earth.

Thank you

Inspiring Examples for Republic Day Speech in English

#1 english example for india republic day speech 2024.

“Good morning everyone,

Today, as we gather to celebrate the 74th Republic Day of our great nation, let us take a moment to reflect on the historical and cultural significance of this day. On January 26, 1950, India adopted its Constitution, embarking on a journey as a sovereign, secular, and democratic republic. It’s an auspicious day that symbolises the unity of India and the values written in our Constitution.

I stand here before you – students, teachers, and respected members of our community – to speak about the importance of democracy and the role each one of us plays in nurturing it. Democracy isn’t just about the right to vote; it’s about participation, responsibility, and the power to shape our future.

Since becoming a republic, India has achieved remarkable milestones. We’ve seen advancements in technology, education, and have made significant strides on the global stage. Yet, the heart of our progress lies in the spirit of our people – resilient, diverse, and ever hopeful.

As Mahatma Gandhi once said, ‘The future depends on what we do in the present.’ These words remind us that the foundation of a strong republic lies in the actions of its citizens. Each one of us here has a role to play in building an inclusive and prosperous India.

When I think of Republic Day, I recall my grandfather’s stories of the freedom struggle. His journey taught me the value of freedom and the sacrifices made to achieve it. It’s a personal reminder of why we must cherish and uphold the liberties we often take for granted.

As we move forward, let us do so with the spirit of unity and determination. Let’s contribute to our nation’s growth, uphold the principles of our Constitution, and work towards an India that offers opportunity and justice for all.

Before I conclude, I want to leave you with a thought. Republic Day is not just a day for flag-hoisting and parades; it’s a day to renew our commitment to our country and to each other.

Thank you for the opportunity to speak today. Let’s celebrate this Republic Day with pride and a sense of responsibility towards our great nation.

Jai Hind!”

#2 Example for Thought Provoking Speech for Republic Day

“Respected Principal, esteemed teachers, and my dear friends,

Today, as we gather to celebrate the 74th Republic Day of India, we commemorate a day that stands as a testament to our nation’s resilience and commitment to democracy. On this day in 1950, India adopted its Constitution, marking the birth of the world’s largest democracy.

Addressing you all today – the future of our nation, our esteemed educators, and dedicated community members – I am inspired to talk about the role of youth in nation-building. Our great nation’s journey since 1950 is a narrative of incredible progress and relentless pursuit of excellence, driven by the youth’s energy and innovation.

As the young poet, Dushyant Kumar said, ‘Only those who dream can fly.’ This Republic Day, let us ignite new dreams and aspirations for our country. Let us pledge to contribute actively to India’s growth story, ensuring that the fruits of our progress are enjoyed by every citizen.

Growing up, I always admired how our community came together on Republic Day, celebrating our unity in diversity. This personal experience shaped my understanding of the true essence of this day – it’s about celebrating our ‘Indianness’ and nurturing the values that define us as a nation.

In preparing for today, I was struck by the foresight of our Constitution’s architects. They envisioned an India where every individual’s potential could be realized. And today, we are living their dream. But the journey doesn’t end here. We have miles to go, and each step we take is crucial.

As we look forward, let us also remember to uphold the principles of our Constitution in everything we do. Let’s educate, innovate, and work towards an inclusive and progressive India.

In closing, I want to emphasize that Republic Day is more than a historical milestone. It’s a day to rekindle our patriotic spirit and renew our commitment to our motherland.

Thank you for listening. Let’s celebrate this day with pride and continue to work towards a brighter future for our nation.
