Once a field has been identified, and a general method of reservoir exploitation decided, there are several methods to achieve the reservoir management goal, but some ways may cost twice as much as others. The most critical operations to developing a field are drilling of wells, and it overemphasizes which in the early stages of field development. This study will cover challenges related to field development in the presence of a geological complication. In the Arabic Gulf area, most of the reservoirs are carbonate is distinguished by complex textural heterogeneity that corresponds to extreme permeability varieties which are the controlling factor in reservoir production. The uncertainty of information in the reservoir and rock mechanics properties have proven to be extremely challenging that faced oil and gas companies during the Appraisal and development phase. Numerous lost-time incidents including stuck pipe, pack – off, lost circulation and difficulties in running casing were experienced during drilling new wells. Moreover, Due to the significant differences between log-derived water saturation and capillary pressure model-derived water saturation profiles during the dynamic model, the lake of the original hydrocarbon amount will raise the associated risks and uncertainties of the model. That becomes necessary to perform the task of integrated reservoir characterization and geomechanics in order to find optimum field development plan, that is the objective of this study was to characterized reservoir rock by distributing petrophysical rock types, porosity, and permeability and applied rock typing among the transition zone to increase the certainty of oil in place. Moreover, design a new modify for mud window to mitigate drilling hazard was one of the primary outcomes in this study. The objective of this study applied in a case study in the Arabic Gulf area. Several approaches were performed to determine which method was more reliable for our case study to identification rock typing, FZI*showed a better result than other methods, it has created three petrophysical rock types, which depend on specific porosity and permeability trends. The distribution of petrophysical rock type, porosity, and permeability perform in the form of the 3D model by using geostatic model. In the geomechanical evaluation, there was a notable difference in geomechanical characteristics. The values for these properties rise at deeper depths, most possibly because of the degree of the overburden and increased compaction, as shown in the increasing sonic speeds. A result from integrated rock typing and geomechanics showed that PRT 3 identified as a best reservoir and highest lost circulation zone, according to a highly porosity and permeability values that varies from 0.17 to 0.25 and from 237 to 349 MD respectively .Integrated FZI* as an indicator of loss circulation zone that showed probability of mud loss increased with increased FZI* values, with median line principle guide us to design a new approach for optimum mud window design to reduce L.C and tight hole problem. The outcomes of this research can be utilized in the field industry to improved reservoir characterized and mitigate drilling problem by applying our new modify for mud window design.

Description.

The utmthesis project provides and maintains a LaTeX class, BibTeX styles (for both authordate and number citation styles) as well as a LyX layout to typeset your thesis according to the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) thesis formatting rules. It is currently the most time saving and efficient way to write a UTM compliant thesis.

This is an ongoing project and it a free software project licensed under the New BSD License.

Even though you just spent 1-2 days writing the content of your thesis (because you are lazy), you can instantly generate the entire thesis in PDF with fully formatted table of contents, references, appendix, front cover, etc. This results in a beautifully written shiny magical thesis that will bedazzle your supervisors and examiners, guaranteeing you an A+.. or not.

There are tutorials, tips & examples on how to use LaTeX provided in the downloads and wiki section.

Download the latest version of utmthesis (both in LaTeX and LyX) here! Due to upload limitation imposed by Google, we could not upload new updates here. Temporarily, we provide download links from FKE Postgraduate Website while we are trying to resolve the upload restriction here.

Current stable release: version 6.4

Required Software

A good LaTeX compiler. For Windows users, you may try MikTeX or ProTeXt. For Linux users, install TeX Live. Note: If you install a minimal/basic version of a Latex compiler, you will face problems. Go for the full download. For Ubuntu (or Debian based distros) type the following command in your shell to auto-magically install all the above software like a boss:

sudo apt-get install texlive-full texmaker jabref

A text editor (an advance Notepad) such as TeXstudio or Texmaker or you may try LyX which is extremely user-friendly and provides a WYSWYG-like interface (What You See is What You Get).

Ukraine Recaptures Slagheap in Horlivka – Why It Matters

On the face of it a slagheap isn’t much of a prize, but the tactical ramifications could be significant as Ukraine pushes further into the city of Horlivka.

Ukrainian troops have recaptured a slag heap from Russian troops in the city of Horlivka, in the Donetsk region, President Zelensky declared on Tuesday.

In a post on Telegram, he wrote: “Our heroes are the assault group of the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo, the royal brigade.

“Despite challenging conditions, they retook a slagheap within Horlivka and captured enemy positions. Now our flag proudly waves over the slagheap.”

In the footage shared by Zelensky, five captured Russians, with their eyes covered, state their names and unit numbers, claiming they were taken prisoner on the slagheap. The majority are from military unit 52892.

At the video's end, two Ukrainian soldiers congratulate the Day of the Ground Forces of Ukraine, declaring: "Behind us is our Ukrainian Horlivka, our Donetsk! Donbas is Ukraine. Glory to the Armed Forces!"

Another Ukrainian military member adds that the flag flies beautifully, and "soon it will be over Horlivka."

What’s so special about a slagheap?

On the face of it, nothing much – a slagheap is a just hill made up of the waste material from a mine.

But during wartime such raised ground overlooking a battlefield – in this case the relatively flat city of Horlivka – takes on great strategic importance.

According to the news outlet Liga.net, slagheap taken is of the "Gagarina" mine on the western outskirts of Horlivka.

A Ukrainian military officer, speaking anonymously to Kyiv Post, emphasized that a crucial element of military tactics involves occupying the heights on a battlefield.

"This contributes to expanding the radio horizon for the operation of radio-electronic warfare and radio-electronic reconnaissance, allows increased control of the area through visual surveillance, and expands the capabilities of UAVs for reconnaissance and strike functions," he said.

He added that being able to control the slag heap and the vantage point it provides will be crucial for the operation of fire support equipment such as mortars, grenade launchers, and anti-tank missile systems as Ukraine pushes further into the city.

In this context, it's noteworthy that on September 24, the Armed Forces gained control over the Bakhmut-Horlivka highway, a crucial logistical route for Russian troops in the Bakhmut direction and the so-called "gateway to Donetsk."

Horlivka in Donetsk region has been occupied by Russians since 2014.
