How do I access eBooks or Presentation Plus from Cambridge One Desktop App?

To log in to the app you need to have a Cambridge One account. If you don’t have one, please go to www.cambridgeone.org and create one. You can find instructions in the ‘How do I create an account?’ section of these FAQs if you need them.
Once you have downloaded and launched the Cambridge One app you’ll be redirected to the login page. Use your regular login details to access your account with the app.
If you have already activated an eBook or a Cambridge One Presentation Plus product you will be able to access them now. We recommend that you download them to the app so that you can use them when you’re offline too.
Now you can start working offline. When finished with your work you can synchronise your changes (notes, drawings or last visited page) by connecting to the internet.
You can close the app by clicking ‘Exit’ in the top corner of the app’s frame (“x”). (It will close automatically within one hour if you forget.)
Note that closing the app is not the same as logging out. Closing the app will keep you as an identified user, and you’ll be able to access your downloaded content again if offline. If you log out, the next time you want to access your downloaded content and work on it offline, you will need first to go online and log in again. Once logged in, you can continue working offline.

Please note your Presentation Plus can be downloaded either:
From our Cambridge One site, when a ‘Download’ button is available, or through the Cambridge One Desktop App if not.
Follow the steps below to download and install your Presentation Plus via the Cambridge One website:
1. Once you have redeemed your activation code, locate the Presentation Plus you want to download, and click on it
From your class
From ‘My Library’
2. Windows will be selected by default. Click ‘Download’
Note: You may be prompted to choose a folder to save the file. If you're not, the file will usually download to your Downloads folder by default.
3. Open the file. You can do this either by clicking in the downward-facing arrow, or by navigating to your computer's Downloads folder or the one you selected in step 2
4. Right click the downloaded Zip File and select ‘Extract All’
Note: Please extract all files at once.
5. The destination folder will be shown, click ‘Extract’
Note: We recommend not to change the default destination folder
6. Once the files are extracted, open the folder and double click ‘Product name’, ‘setup-windows’, ‘WindowsInstaller’, or ‘Install_in_Windows’ then ‘Next’
7. A help wizard will now guide you through the installation process. Read the instructions and click ‘Next’, then ‘Install’
Note: We recommend not to change the default destination folder.
8. Once the installation is complete, you will see a success screen. Click ‘Finish’ to exit and launch your Presentation Plus.
Note: You can now open it at any time by double clicking the shortcut icon on your desktop.
Tip: Make sure that your device has enough space and that it is up to date.

Desktop browsers have introduced private browsing mode, a security control which aims to protect users' data that are generated during a private browsing session, by not storing them in the file system. As the Internet becomes ubiquitous, the existence of this security control is beneficial to users, since privacy violations are increasing, while users tend to be more concerned about their privacy when browsing the web in a post-Snowden era. In this context, this work examines the protection that is offered by the private browsing mode of the most popular desktop browsers in Windows (i.e., Chrome, Firefox, IE and Opera). Our experiments uncover occasions in which even if users browse the web with a private session, privacy violations exist contrary to what is documented by the browser. To raise the bar of privacy protection that is offered by web browsers, we propose the use of a virtual filesystem as the storage medium of browsers' cache data. We demonstrate with a case study how this countermeasure protects users from the privacy violations, which are previously identified in this work.
