How to Set Up a Presentation Using Your iPhone or iPad

You can connect your iOS device to an external display for work presentations and streaming.

Table of Contents

These days, we’re more reliant than ever on mobile devices for productivity and connectivity, even in work scenarios like conferences and seminars. It’s easy and convenient to power your presentations with an iPhone or iPad, but you might not know how to connect to an external display.

We’ll explain how to mirror a small screen to a more prominent display such as a smart TV, projector or monitor, whether you’re prepping for a presentation in a smart office or streaming content at home.

How to give presentations from your iPhone or iPad

Bring your mobile presentation to life by connecting your iOS device to an external display. Several technologies can power mobile presentations on a larger screen, including AirPlay, which allows streaming and screen mirroring.

We’ll explain how sending your presentation to an external display works for the most common devices you’ll encounter.

1. Send an iOS presentation to an Apple TV.

Mirroring your presentation from an iPad or iPhone to an Apple TV is straightforward. Here’s how it works:

  • Power on your Apple TV. Make sure it’s on the same Wi-Fi network as your iOS device.
  • On your iOS device, load the presentation or content you want to share to the Apple TV.
  • Tap the AirPlay icon . (It looks like a rectangular screen with a triangle at the bottom.)
  • Choose your Apple TV .
  • Your content will begin. To stop streaming, tap the AirPlay icon in the app you’re streaming from.

2. Send an iOS presentation to a smart TV.

If you have an internet-enabled smart TV, you have a few options, depending on your TV model.

AirPlay 2-compatible smart TVs

If you have an AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV, such as select Samsung models, LG TVs and Roku TVs, the process is nearly the same as using AirPlay with an Apple TV:

  • On your AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV, go to Settings > General > Apple AirPlay Settings and enable AirPlay .
  • Tap the AirPlay icon .
  • Select your AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV.
  • Play your presentation or content.

Smart TVs that aren’t AirPlay 2-compatible

If your internet-connected smart TV isn’t AirPlay compatible, consider a third-party mirroring app like AllCast. AllCast is an iOS app that wirelessly streams your phone’s content to an external monitor. Here’s how it works:

  • Download AllCast from the App Store on your iOS device.
  • Launch AllCast and tap the broadcast icon . It will find compatible devices on your network.
  • Select your smart TV.

AllCast is also compatible with Roku devices, Amazon Fire TV devices, Apple TV, Microsoft Xbox consoles, and smart TVs from Samsung, Sony, Panasonic and more. While AllCast is free to download and use, in-app purchases allow you to remove ads and unlock features.

3. Send an iOS presentation to a Mac.

If you want to send your iOS presentation to a larger Mac, the process is simple.

  • Make sure your iOS device and Mac are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  • On your iOS device, open the Control Center.
  • Tap Screen Mirroring .
  • Select your Mac.
  • You may see an AirPlay passcode on your Mac screen. If so, enter the code on your iOS device.

4. Send an iOS presentation to a non-smart TV or projector.

Working with an old-school TV or a projector that doesn’t connect to the internet? Not a problem. Use a connector or adapter to achieve the same effect as mirroring.

Connect to a monitor with an adapter.

If you have access to a monitor and you don’t want to connect wirelessly, opt for an old-fashioned cable adapter. Apple sells a Lightning digital AV adapter with an additional power port (so you can charge your iPhone or iPad while you present from it).

At $49, Apple’s adapter is pricey for a one-off presentation, but if you travel a lot, the purchase could be worthwhile. Using Wi-Fi across various venues can be a gamble. If you’re presenting to clients, you may not want to roll the dice.

Connect to a projector with an adapter.

Many modern projectors have proprietary apps to connect to wirelessly from mobile devices, but they vary drastically in quality, availability and compatibility. If you want to be certain of your ability to connect to a specific projector, an adapter is an excellent option.

Newer projectors typically have HDMI and VGA ports. If you have a choice, opt for an HDMI adapter because it’ll be more versatile. If you need to connect to an older projector, you will probably have to connect using a VGA adapter; Apple sells one (also priced at $49) with an added charging port, so you don’t run out of juice.

FAQs about sending an iOS presentation to an external display

If you’re having trouble connecting your iPad or iPhone to a monitor or have other questions about creating a great presentation, you’ll find commonly asked questions below.

What is screen mirroring?

Screen mirroring is the process of displaying the contents of a device like an iPad or iPhone on another device, such as a television, external monitor or projector. Screen mirroring is sometimes confused with screencasting, which is the process of recording everything happening on your screen.

Why do people use screen mirroring?

Screen mirroring is helpful anytime you want to share small-screen content on a big screen. People use screen mirroring in both personal and professional settings, including watching entertainment and running through presentations.

Can you screen mirror without Wi-Fi?

The only way to screen mirror without Wi-Fi is to use a cable connection or adapter. Screen mirroring apps won’t work if you can’t access Wi-Fi. In fact, if you’re using a screen mirroring app, the device you’re mirroring from and the device you’re mirroring to have to be on the same Wi-Fi network.

One significant benefit of buying an HDMI adapter is that you no longer need to worry about Wi-Fi access when mirroring – you can plug in the cord and get started.

What are the best iPad apps for creating presentations?

There are many excellent presentation tools for all platforms. Keynote  is Apple’s answer to PowerPoint, and it’s a go-to among professionals who use Apple devices because it’s a free download from the App Store. You can also use PowerPoint on Apple devices via the PowerPoint mobile app. If you want to try something different,  Google Slides  is the current black horse in the presentation software arena, and it’s also available through Apple’s App Store.

Do I need an adapter to connect my iPad to my TV?

If you have Apple mobile devices and want to share content with a broader audience, an adapter is an excellent option. An adapter’s main advantage is allowing you to connect to nearly any external monitor. Adapters are helpful for people who want to mirror to an older TV or monitor without internet connectivity, as well as anyone who frequently hosts presentations in places without open Wi-Fi networks or smart monitors.

Can you screen mirror with an Android device?

Yes. Android and iOS both support business uses , such as screen mirroring for presentations. You can mirror your Android, PC or Google device on an external screen or projector with a built-in app, Bluetooth, a third-party app or an HDMI adapter. If you go down the app and Bluetooth route, ensure that your mobile device and the external monitor are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

How to Project PowerPoint Slides via iPad, iPhone or iPod touch

powerpoint presentation from ipad to tv

It’s easy to project PowerPoint slide presentations from mobile devices like the iPad or iPhone – if you have the right tools.

One of the cool things about using the new SlideShark app to view PowerPoint presentations on your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch is that you don’t have to carry your laptop around to sales and business presentations. Of course, when presenting to large groups, you’re still going to want to project your PowerPoint slides so that everyone in the room can see them.

Fortunately, hooking your Apple mobile devices up to a TV or projector is a simple process. There  are  a few different ways to go about this though, depending on costs, needs and situation. Here are some of the primary options to choose from when it comes to  projecting PowerPoint from your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

#1. Go the adapter route

This is probably the simplest way to display your slides on the big screen in business meetings. Most company meeting rooms these days are equipped with either an HD TV display or, at the very least, overhead projector. Obviously, Apple mobile devices are not equipped to connect directly to either of these options out of the box.

But no matter which situation you find yourself in, you can easily connect your iPad or iPhone using the  Apple Digital AV Adapter  and a short HDMI cable. The adapter is not expensive (Apple sells it for just $39.00), and is compatible with most of the latest Apple devices. (It’s also very easy to hook up, as  this Houston Chronicle post  explains.)

#2. Go the Airplay route

For those who don’t know, the  AppleTV AirPla y  option lets you stream content (video, music, images) wirelessly from your mobile device directly to your HD TV or computer screen. I’ve personally used this option in the past to watch streaming video, and can attest to its quality. In fact, I watched an entire episode of AMC’s  Breaking Bad  during a recent trip to Europe and was amazed at how well the AirPlay feature worked.

SlideShark supports the AirPlay feature as well, so displaying PowerPoint slides via this method is no problem. However, keep in mind that the feature requires Apple TV, which I can’t imagine most business meeting rooms are equipped with at this time.

#3. Go the mini-projector route

If you’re so inclined, there’s also the option of purchasing a mini  HDMI Pocket Projector  to display your presentations. This little baby is designed to hook up directly to your iPhone or iPad (and most other mobile devices), allowing you to project your PowerPoint slides from pretty much anywhere.

Just be aware, at $299.99, this is sort of an expensive option, and I can’t imagine many companies will shell these out to everyone in their sales teams. That said, how cool would it be to walk into a sales meeting with everything you need to present – iPhone and projector – sitting in the palm of your hand? Fortunately, there are cheaper options out there to consider as well.

PowerPoint Presentations on a Television Screen

PowerPoint presentations can be displayed in many different ways: on PCs, laptops, mobile devices, projectors and not least television screens. Presenting on TV is mostly suitable for informal occasions, but it can also work in a business context.

We set out below four ways of presenting via a TV:

Option 1: Connect your laptop to your TV

  • Connect your laptop to your TV with an HDMI cable.
  • Select the correct HDMI input using the remote control.
  • Once both devices are up and running, your screen view should automatically appear on the TV.
  • The presentation can be controlled as usual via the laptop.

Content1 DE Praesentation auf Fernseher 1

Option 2: Record Video

  • First save your PowerPoint presentation as a video – you don’t have to control the presentation manually, but it will not be possible to alter the presentation once started. This function is available from PowerPoint 2010 under File – Save and Send – Create Video.
  • Copy the created video file to a USB storage device or DVD, depending on your TV.
  • You can now insert the storage device and play the video of your presentation on your TV.

Content2 DE Praesentation auf Fernseher

Option 3: Connect Your Smartphone (Android) and TV

  • You’ll need the PowerPoint and Google Home apps as well as a Chromecast stick for this.
  • Plug the Chromecast stick into the HDMI port of your TV and select the appropriate channel.
  • Download your presentation to your smartphone and open the Google Home app.
  • From the menu, select Screen/Audio Streaming – Stream To – Chromecast.
  • Now you can switch back to the PowerPoint app and start the presentation.

Content3 DE Praesentation auf Fernseher

Option 4: Apple TV

  • Apple TV allows you to use WiFi connections or local networks to stream media to your TV.
  • Again, the PowerPoint presentation must be saved as a video. Make sure that the file format of the video is supported by Apple TV (MP4 is usually the best).
  • Alternatively, you can upload your video via iTunes.

Content4 DE Praesentation auf Fernseher

If it’s at all possible, we recommend using two screens for your presentation: this allows you to display helpful comments and data on a screen that only you can see. This is not, however, possible with options 2 and 4, because your presentation is saved as a video.

As you can see, there are several different ways to play presentations on a TV: this means that if you find yourself in a situation with a lack of equipment, you have a great alternative to the usual projector.

Method 1 - Cast PowerPoint to TV via Chromecast on Computer or Mobile Devices

Method 2 - how to play powerpoint on tv from usb, method 3 - connect computer to tv using an hdmi cable, play powerpoint slideshow on tv there solutions here.

As you know, a PowerPoint slideshow is generally presented using a projector. However, with the popularity of large-screen smart TVs, more and more companies, organizations and individuals prefer to demonstrate the slides on the oversized screen of a TV rather than play it on the projector to enjoy a bigger display. In addition to computer, you can even cast your presentation via mobile phone or tablet. Sounds pretty cool? Here are 3 simple methods below specially compiled for different cases.

If you have a Chromecast plugged into your large-screen TV, which has connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer, it's pretty simple to wirelessly cast your presentation to TV with the help of Google Slides since it has added support for Chromecast and AirPlay. We don't talk too much about how to set up the Chromecast, just go straight to the point.

On Computer:

Step 1. Visit https://docs.google.com/presentation and log in your Google account. Upload your PowerPoint presentation to Google Slides from local drive.

Step 2. Open the slideshow and click the down arrow next to the "Present" button at the top-right corner, select "Present on another screen" > your Chromecast. Then the presentation will show on your TV. This option will be available only if there is a valid Chromecast device.

Chromecast PowerPoint to TV in Google Slides

Optional. If you have installed the Google Cast extension in Chrome browser, click three-dots icon More > Cast at the top right. Then choose the Chromecast device, and your tab will be shown on a TV.

Chromecast PowerPoint to TV in Chrome

On Android or iPhone & iPad:

Step 1: Install Google Slides App on your devices:

Slides for Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.docs.editors.slides&hl=en

Slides for iPhone & iPad: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/google-slides/id879478102

Step 2: Open a presentation in the Google Slides App. Tab Cast icon and select your Chromecast device.

Tips: For iPhone & iPad users, when you open a presentation in the Google Slides app, if there's an Apple TV near you, swipe up from the bottom of your screen to AirPlay mirroring the presentation to Apple TV screen.

As you can see, Method 1 requires a good network connection to do the trick. To cast PowerPoint to TV offline, someone would suggest burning the presentations to DVD for playback. Actually, no need to be so troublesome, the modern TVs support playing images and videos directly from a USB drive plugged into TV. So what you need to do is convert PowerPoint to video or images of each slide.

Step 1. Open your PowerPoint presentation, click on "File" at the top left-hand corner. Select "Save As" on the left sidebar.

Step 2. Press "Browse" button to give a file name and output directory. Since Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 and higher version, you're able to export PPT to video file. In the drop-down list of "Save as type", make your choice to export presentation to MP4/WMV video or JPG/PNG images.

Step 3. Move the video file or images to USB drive and plug into TV for playback.

Tips: This method will result in losing any music or animations. Instead, you can also record your demonstration with sound using some recording programs.

Of course, I still have to mention the traditional method - mirror your slides to TV using an HDMI cable, which is the most common procedure for, uhm, er... the majority of people, I guess. You know, most TVs nowadays come with an HDMI port where you can connect your desktop computer or laptop via an HDMI cable. Just make sure that you've pressed the AV button on your TV remote control and select the correct HDMI output.

Besides, old models of TVs and computers are always equipped with a VGA port. So you have to plug in the VGA cable to the matching port on the back of the computer case or edge of a laptop.

How to Cast a PowerPoint Presentation to Chromecast

There’s no excuse for presentation display as hardware like Chromecast allows us to instantly turn a television nearby into a streamable source for our digital content. Instead of worrying about all the gear to pack, prepare your computer or phone so you can cast a PowerPoint presentation to Chromecast in just seconds.

cover for how to cast a powerpoint presentation to chromecast

As a pre-requisite, ensure that the Chromecast and the casting device (PC or Phone) use the same Wi-Fi network. Also, for Mobile devices, you must install the Google Home app and configure the Chromecast beforehand. For PC/Mac, Google Chrome has to be installed.

Method #1: Cast a PowerPoint Presentation to Chromecast via PC

Start by opening the presentation you want to cast via Chromecast. After that, open Google Chrome.

opening a presentation in powerpoint

Locate the three dots at the top-right section of the browser (below the X to close the window), and click on Cast .

finding cast option in google chrome

Open the Sources section and select Cast Screen .

Then, click on the name of the device in which to cast your computer’s screen, and that would be all. The entire screen is going to be transmitted to the selected Chromecast. Remember that some screen cropping might happen; that’s entirely due to the TV resolution settings.

Method #2: Cast a PowerPoint Presentation to Chromecast via Android

A method for those presenters on the go is to cast the presentation directly from your tablet or Android phone. The issue with this method is that you will cast your entire screen instead of just a doc.

Open the Notification Panel on your device. You need to find an option that’s usually named Screen Cast . Activate it and allow some instants so it can scan for available devices nearby.

Select the Chromecast to cast, and your entire phone/tablet screen will be shown on TV. The advantage of this method is that the device becomes a sort of remote controller; therefore, you change the slides and present from the device itself, and the screen will mirror on TV.

Open the Microsoft PowerPoint app for Android, locate the presentation you want to share, and open it. Rotate the device to landscape orientation (horizontal), so the presentation goes full screen. And that’s all.

How to give a presentation with an iPad and Apple TV

Your email has been sent

Image of Conner Forrest

If you work in an office setting, sooner or later you’re going to have to give a presentation. We’ve all been there, watching someone stare into a blinding projector light while fumbling with cables and trying to get the signal to come through.

The good news for Apple users is that with a couple Apple products and a little know-how, they can do away with the cables and clutter and quickly get on with the presentation. Using the AirPlay service, you can stream content to a second or third generation Apple TV.

Here’s how you can give a presentation with just an iPad and an Apple TV.

To start, you’ll want to make sure that your Apple TV is plugged into the proper port on your TV, and both the iPad and Apple TV are connected to Wi-Fi. It’s important to note that both devices must be connected to the same network for the AirPlay option to be available. Be careful to make sure you don’t have one device inside your company’s firewall and one operating outside of it.

The next step is to make sure you have your presentation properly loaded on your iPad. The easiest way is to create your presentation in Keynote, Apple’s presentation software. However, you can also create or open a file in the Microsoft PowerPoint app.

Additionally, PowerPoint files can be opened by Keynote, so you can email them to yourself and save them on the device. If you plan on trying to convert a PowerPoint file in Keynote, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to account for any formatting issues you may run into when you convert the file.

Another option is to create a presentation in Google Drive. If all else fails, you should be able to save the presentation as a PDF and open it with iBooks.

After making sure that your file is locked and loaded on your iPad, or saved in your Google Drive, you need to enable AirPlay on your device. Once you have both devices on the same network, you should swipe up from the bottom of the screen to access what is known as the Control Center. At the bottom of the Control Center, you should see the AirPlay icon. Tap that icon and select the Apple TV from the drop-down menu.

powerpoint presentation from ipad to tv

Your Apple TV will recognize that a device is attempting to connect with it and it will prompt you to input a security code that it will display on the television screen. Once you input the code and finish connecting, the name of the Apple TV will appear at the bottom of the Control Center as long as you are utilizing AirPlay.

From now on, any app that works with AirPlay will be able to be displayed on your Apple TV connected television.

If you’re using Keynote, once you open your presentation, you should be able to tap the play button and have your presentation begin playing on the TV. Your device will display the “presenter view” and show you the list of slides in the presentation so you’ll know what’s next. If your slide contains animations, a green dot will alert you when the animation is complete so you’ll know when to proceed.

To enable this view in the PowerPoint App, you’ll first tap on the “Slide Show” tab at the top of the screen. Of the available options, choose presenter view and you should see the presenter view, while your actual presentation will be displayed on the TV.

For those using Google Drive or other services, you will need to enable the “Mirroring” feature through AirPlay to see the presentation on the television. Mirroring shows exactly what you see on your device screen on the television itself.

Swipe up again on the iPad screen and tap the AirPlay icon. Under the drop-down list select “Enable Mirroring.” Your device screen should show up on the connected television. Keep in mind, however, that you will not have access to a presenter view and you will see your presentation on your iPad as your audience sees it on the screen.

Swipe to manually advance your slides, or let the timed slide option advance them for you.

Hopefully this will help you streamline your presentation process and eliminate some cable clutter.

Play a presentation on a separate display in Keynote on iPad

You can connect a separate display to your iPad and play your presentation on the separate displays, while you control the presentation using the presenter display on your device. You can set the presenter display to show presenter notes, a timer, or a preview of the next slide.

Connect an external display to your device using AirPlay or a video adapter.

If you’re using Apple TV, turn on mirroring .

Open the presentation in Keynote, then tap the slide in the slide navigator you want to play first .

the Play to External Display button

Your presentation begins to play on the connected display, and the presenter display appears on your iPad.

The green or red light next to the slide number in the top-left corner of the presenter display indicates the status of the slideshow. Red indicates a transition or animation is playing; the light turns green when it is done.

Note: If you’re using Apple TV as an external display, the presenter display is not visible.

Do any of the following:

Go to the next slide or build: Tap the slide.

Go back a slide or reset the builds on the slide: Swipe right. Avoid the left edge of the screen as you swipe, so the slide navigator doesn’t appear.

Jump to a different slide: Tap the left side of the screen to show the slide navigator, then tap the slide you want. You may need to swipe up or down to see all the slides. Tap anywhere on the slide to hide the slide navigator. Even if your device is connected to an external display, the slide navigator appears only on the device.

the Layout Options button

Customize the presenter display

While you’re playing the presentation on a separate display or when you’re rehearsing a slideshow , you can select which items appear on the presenter display, and modify its layout.

To play the presentation, do one of the following:

the More button

To customize the presenter display, do any of the following:

the Font Larger button

To switch between the clock and timer, tap the counter at the top of the presenter display. The timer starts the first time you tap or swipe to advance the presentation.

Note: In a side-by-side layout, when the next slide doesn’t immediately appear, it means a slide transition or animation is still playing on the current slide. The next slide appears only when the presentation is ready to advance.

You can also draw on your slides as you present to emphasize information on the slide. See Draw on a slide as you present .

Turn Your iPad into a PowerPoint Presenter

If you’re in the business of making presentations, you know what a time-suck it can be to work with PowerPoint on a laptop. You have to connect a projector, wait an eternity for the PC to boot, run PowerPoint, load your slide deck, switch the laptop’s video output to projector mode, and on and on. It’s easy to blow 10-20 minutes just getting set up for your presentation– not a productive use of your time.

Enter SlideShark, an iPad app for viewing PowerPoint presentations . Actually, it’s both an app and a service, and it’s free–for a starter account, anyway.

After signing up and installing the iPad app , you simply upload your slide decks (SlideShark supports both PPT and PPTX files), then wait a few minutes while the service optimizes them for iPad viewing. Then you fire up the app and choose the presentations you want to download. I think it’s smart that SlideShark stores the presentations on your iPad so you can run them offline (i.e. no Internet connection required).

Next up: present! You can, of course, view slideshows right on the iPad, tapping or swiping to move from one slide to the next, but you also have the option of connecting the iPad to a TV or projector. (For that you’ll need Apple’s VGA Adapter , a $29 accessory.)

There are a few limitations. For starters, SlideShark doesn’t support hyperlinks, embedded videos, slide transitions, and other fancy effects. In other words, you’re stuck with fairly static slides (which is not necessarily a bad thing). The app does promise to preserve all fonts, images, and colors, plus some animations.

powerpoint presentation from ipad to tv

In my tests, SlideShark did a great job converting most of my presentations. However, with one that had a custom, wider-than-usual page layout, the converter failed to maintain the aspect ratio, leading to a squished-looking set of slides with jumbled, overlapping text. Your mileage may vary, but be sure to spot-check any important presentations before actually, you know, presenting them.

There are, of course, countless other apps that let you show slide decks on your iPad. But SlideShark has the benefits of being free and easy to use. Definitely worth a try if you’d rather travel with a slim tablet than a bulky old laptop.

Can I do a PowerPoint presentation using an iPad?

By: Author Shrot Katewa

Can I do a PowerPoint presentation using an iPad?

I love my iPad, and If you are like me, you would want to carry it wherever you go. It is compact, light and allows me to get things done that can’t be done using my phone due to its small size! In fact, it is so convenient that it makes me wonder if I could replace my laptop with an iPad even for my client meetings?

But, can I create a PowerPoint presentation using an iPad? Yes, you can create a PowerPoint presentation using an iPad. In fact, iPad has a bunch of different apps that allow you to run PowerPoint presentations on it. iPad’s built-in Keynote presentation software also allows you to view the PPT files. You can also install Microsoft PowerPoint to run, edit and create a PowerPoint presentations from scratch on iPad just as you run it on a laptop!

Running a PowerPoint presentation on your iPad is actually a lot easier than you think. There are, however, a few things you should be aware of. Let’s get into the details of the workings of a PowerPoint presentation on an iPad.

How to put a PowerPoint presentation on an iPad?

Sometimes, you may already have a PPT file that was shared by your colleague or a client. However, many a times, it is you who has to create a PowerPoint presentation that dazzles your audience! Creating a presentation that holds our audiences’ attention is hard. We wrote a post that covers the steps that you should be taking while creating a PowerPoint presentation. We’ve broken it down to a step-by-step process that is designed to help you with creating a presentation. (Link – www.owlscape.in/what-are-the-steps-to-create-a-powerpoint-presentation )

If you have already created a presentation using a laptop or any other computer, you’ll first need to transfer it to your iPad. There are multiple ways you could do this. I would like to share my top 3 favourite method as they are free, doesn’t take too much time, and are easy to carry out as it doesn’t require any technical expertise.

1. Transfer the PPT file to your iPad using your email

This is probably the easiest of all the three options. In all likelihood, you may already have received a PPT file from your colleagues through an email. In this case, all you need to do is simply open your email account on your iPad, click on the email that contains the PowerPoint file, and download it.

2. Transfer the PPT file to your iPad using a cloud storage service

Another quick and easy option is using a cloud storage services. There are plenty of cloud storage services such as Google Drive, Dropbox, and even iCloud. Most of these services offer at least a few GBs of free data storage. Simply upload your PPT file from your computer. Then, login to your cloud storage service on your iPad and download the PPT file on your iPad.

3. Transfer the PPT file to your iPad using WhatsApp

Video on how to login to WhatsApp on your iPad

Another great way to download the file directly to your iPad is by using WhatsApp. While WhatsApp is a great way to stay in touch with you friends, it is also great to share files. You can ask your colleague to send the file to you over WhatsApp. All you need to do is simply log in to your WhatsApp account on your iPad, open your colleague’s chat message, and download the file.

What is the best app for PowerPoint presentation on iPad?

In our experience, Microsoft PowerPoint is by far one of the best apps to work with PPT presentations on iPad. You can easily download and use, and if you have an Office365 subscription, it allows you access to additional functionalities which come in handy especially if you plan to edit files on-the-go on your iPad. PowerPoint presentation has been the brainchild of Microsoft, and it has been the leader by a long stretch when it comes to the presentation software.

With Microsoft PowerPoint, not only do you resolve the compatibility issues of the PPT files with software, you also get an interface you are familiar with. You can be absolutely sure that PPT file will look exactly as it is intended to when using Microsoft PowerPoint on iPad.

You can download the Microsoft PowerPoint app for your iPad from the App Store.

Is Microsoft PowerPoint app FREE for iPad?

Microsoft PowerPoint Image

Microsoft PowerPoint app is FREE to download and use on an iPad. Microsoft realise that the future of technology is more towards smartphones and tablets. Thus, they have a strong focus on providing access to user files on-the-go. Although you can edit PowerPoint presentations on-the-go, if you wish to get advanced functionalities, you may want to get an Office365 subscription. Having said that, most of your basic editing needs are covered in the base version of the app.

Are there any other apps for PowerPoint presentation on iPad?

Absolutely! There are several other applications that you can use to open and edit a PowerPoint presentation on iPad. All the other applications have their pros and cons. We have listed down the top 3 alternatives to Microsoft PowerPoint on iPad. They are in no order to preference.

Keynote is the native software that offers an office suite on Mac and iOS devices including iPad. It has been built from the ground up for iPad and iPhone devices. Needless to say, it is one of the most powerful software when working with presentations.

While Keynote allows you to view, open and edit a PowerPoint file, the overall functionalities are different. We’ve also seen that the look and feel of the PPT file does change when using it on Keynote. However, the changes are not major and if you are only planning to view the major contents of the PPT file on your iPad, Keynote is effective.

2. Google Slides

The best part about Google Slides is that it allows real-time collaboration on projects with its online office suite. This is great especially when your team is not based in the same location as you are.

Google Slides is also compatible with PPT files. It allows you or open, view and edit PowerPoint files on your iPad. Google Slides is FREE . All you need is a Google account to start using it.

3. WPS Office

WPS office to open PPT files without PowerPoint

WPS stands for Writer (W), Presentation (P), Spreadsheets (S). It is our favourite alternative to Microsoft Office suite. It has been designed with Microsoft Office users in mind. Thus, the look and feel of WPS Office has striking similarities to that of MIcrosoft Office. For all the Microsoft Office users, WPS Office makes you surprisingly feel just at home.

If you are looking to a cheaper/free alternative to Microsoft Office suite that looks and feels just like MS Office, in our experience WPS Office by far the best option for you. It was designed with Microsoft Office users in mind. It was originally launched for Windows, however, WPS Office suite 2019 version has been expanded to both Linux and Mac users as well.

WPS Office is now also available for Mac and iOS users. You can download WPS Office directly from the App Store or visit the download section on their website . WPS Office is FREE to use although simply signing up for an account with them gives you access to premium feature for 1 year.

What equipment will I need to do a PowerPoint presentation using an iPad?

What makes the iPad really powerful is that it allows you to connect to a projector and project the presentation on a bigger screen. This comes in really handy as this negates the need to carry any laptop. Video on how you can connect your iPad to a projector

There are multiple ways to connect your iPad to a Projector. Two of the most common ways are –

  • HDMI connection
  • VGA connection

For both the connections, you will need to buy an additional connector cable that allows you to connect the two devices.

Our personal preference is to use the VGA connector. Main reason for this is the fact that a VGA connector allows the sound to be played from the iPad itself as opposed to a HDMI connector. In an HDMI connection for an iPad, the sound is played through your projector. Another reason for preference of a VGA connector over an HDMI connector is that it is more widely available as a default connection option to the projector in most corporate offices. However, connector preference comes down to a personal choice.

So, is it worth it???

We started this article wondering whether we could do a PowerPoint presentation using an iPad, and whether we could carry an iPad to our meetings instead of a laptop. With the availability of Microsoft PowerPoint application for iPad and several other alternatives to open a PPT file on iPad, as well as the possibility to connect the iPad to a projector, we can safely conclude that an iPad can be used as a replacement to a laptop while meeting clients!

How to take advantage of Copilot for SharePoint

Copilot -- microsoft's ai chatbot tool -- works in several other apps, including sharepoint. together, copilot and sharepoint can simplify site and content creation..

Over the years, Microsoft has continued to refine SharePoint's capabilities and functionality. When combined with AI, the wealth of data stored in the platform offers new opportunities for businesses.

With the introduction of Microsoft's AI engine and its new service -- Copilot -- organizations can find more ways to interact with and analyze their content and data. Copilot in SharePoint enables users to perform tasks in new ways to increase employee efficiency and gain new insights from the data stored in SharePoint.

Prerequisites for using Copilot for SharePoint

Businesses have several prerequisites to meet before they can use Copilot with SharePoint -- primarily licenses and security access.

For licensed access, organizations need both SharePoint Online and Microsoft Copilot licenses . Once these are available to users, they can access Copilot. For SharePoint specifically, businesses can use the bundled license that comes with several existing Microsoft 365 plans. Then, organizations have the option to choose Copilot for Microsoft 365, which costs $30 per user monthly, or Copilot Pro, which is $20 per user monthly.

Businesses also require proper security and access to the SharePoint portal that hosts the data or site the user needs to access. This is based more on the organization's existing security permissions with SharePoint rather than something new to adopt with Copilot, but it's worth revisiting to ensure users have proper access to certain data and Copilot can access all relevant content.

How to use Copilot in SharePoint

Copilot is not limited to a single Microsoft tool, like Teams or Word. With its availability in SharePoint, users can instruct it to perform tasks related to SharePoint pages. For example, a user could ask Copilot to write a summary of an article or provide ideas.

Businesses can also use Copilot from other areas besides SharePoint that can still access its content, including through a dedicated chatbot that users can design and deploy with Copilot Studio.

Overall, Copilot can help users generate and manage SharePoint sites more efficiently and interact with stored data. The tool helps users maintain consistent branding and customize site formatting , as it can learn the brand's style over time and adapt to it when creating new content or suggesting new site styles to enhance UX.

SharePoint Premium users can take advantage of more advanced Copilot features, like content translation, video analysis and document intelligence -- which analyzes documents and can extract text or data.

A chart demonstrating how Microsoft Copilot works with users' prompts.

Benefits of using Copilot in SharePoint

Copilot brings several new capabilities to SharePoint, including the following:

1. Site administration and authoring

SharePoint users can generate new sites quickly with Copilot's chat feature . This can save time during site creation, including its content and formatting, and it eliminates the need for users to learn how to create sites. Copilot also lets users upload documents to the chatbot and have their content used for the site pages, as well.

2. Interact with data stored in SharePoint

Employees can also use Copilot to locate content easily. With Microsoft Copilot Studio -- which lets users create automations and bots -- or standard Copilot, users can ask the tool for any information accessible to them and stored in SharePoint without having to search for or locate it themselves. This feature lets Copilot mine SharePoint's content and lets users easily access it through the chat.

3. Create apps with Power Apps

Microsoft moved away from InfoPath and introduced Power Apps to generate apps that collect data stored in SharePoint. Users can wield Copilot and Power Apps together to generate these apps. If a user instructs Copilot to make an app, it can generate one that stores its data in SharePoint.

4. Enhanced brand management

Copilot can ensure all sites generated through AI have a consistent look and feel. It can also enable users to further customize their sites and improve formatting without any prior training.

5. Enable more automation

In addition to Copilot's standard capabilities for SharePoint -- content creation, site creation and search capabilities -- SharePoint Premium includes content translation, video analysis, document intelligence and content extraction from documents stored in libraries. Copilot could further enhance the experience for users looking to classify content and apply more automation with SharePoint Premium.

Key takeaways

Microsoft Copilot uses generative AI and large language models, so its integration with SharePoint can create more efficient workflows and deeper insights into data. With Copilot, SharePoint users can change their approach to site administration, content management and data interaction. This integration simplifies complex tasks through chat interfaces and makes information more accessible and actionable.

Organizations must have the appropriate licenses and proper security measures for a successful implementation. And with options such as Copilot for Microsoft 365 and Copilot Pro , organizations can choose the best plan to suit their needs.

In essence, Copilot for SharePoint can help organizations improve how they use their digital assets, drive innovation and improve operational efficiency.

This app ate and left like 3 crumbs😌😂

I didn’t expect to enjoy this app as much as I did. The stories are so intriguing and I was a little shocked to see K-dramas. I do wish that some of the K-dramas weren’t voiced by English actors though. I prefer just reading subtitles. It gets irritating when the mouth and words don’t match. I’m not the biggest fan of the ad situation, but I also don’t mind it either. I wish every episode was 2 minutes long and that there wasn’t a recap at the beginning. I noticed there aren’t many shows but I don’t know how long this app has been a thing so I hope more are to come. Overall I love the app. The acting is cringe at times but not as bad as some reviews make it seem. I can tell there’s a low budget so I wouldn’t expect too much anyway. Plus I feel like bad acting can make shows funnier. Still this app eats every show it puts out. I get so invested off of just a trailer. I feel like the use of adds and coins brings back what it felt like to watch shows on cable TV. Sometimes the anticipation made the show better. I also loved commercial bathroom breaks. At least I’m not waiting for a 1-2 minute clip everyday. I only have to watch an ad.

Developer Response ,

Thank you for your feedback and we very appreciate that. Could you please tell us which show has the problem of discrepancy between the mouth and the words? We will convey your suggestion to relevant department and improve it. Please stay tuned for our new version. Thank you for your support.
Normally I do not leave reviews especially negative ones. These shorts are really entertaining and I ultimately enjoy watching them. However, I am very disappointed and upset that each “short” takes up a various amount of your coins. I started out watching every ad to get my coins for the day which landed me just over 230 coins. So I was a bit excited to watch more of the series I have been trying to get through. I figured that I would be able to watch at least 4 to 5 shorts (5 minutes or so of the series for the day) but I didn’t even get that. I was able to watch two which were less then a minute long. Afterwards it says I do not have enough coins. I would give this app a 5 star review if it wasn’t for the fact that somehow the price for each short adjusts based on how many coins you have. On top of that you cannot see the price of how much each episode costs until you are out of coins. Yesterday, the next episode said it was 58 coins. Today I had over 230 coins and was only able to watch two episodes? In other words one episode cost 58 coins and the next one took the rest. It seems like a major scam to get people to really fork out the money for the game without realizing what is going on. If the company fixes the issues then I will come back and update my review. If not my review will stay. Thank you for reading. Again this is not something I do in fact this is the first review I have ever done but I would hate to see people get scammed.

Money Hungry App

This app is a money grab. I downloaded it because I kept getting an ad for one show. I was like I might as well watch it. They prompt you every like 7 words to buy the app or watch more shows. It’s ridiculously expensive for corny shows. It cost more to buy this app then ANY streaming services and the shows are short and corny. I don’t think anyone besides children who aren’t spending their own money would do that. Anyway I watched one show over like a month would watch the ads whenever I was bored enough to do it then I get to the end of the show and they won’t let me watch the last few episodes without paying I can no longer use adds. As if they don’t make money from the ads already. Luckily because the show is corny and predictable I already know how it ends so it is what it is. And it’s $20 a week (which is $100-$120 a month, $1040 a year). not even for unlimited shows you get a certain about of coins that let you watch certain shows. It’s all confusing and a way to take money. The most expensive streaming service I know of hulus bundle with live tv is like $74 a month and that’s 3 services AND live tv. The ads are all over a minute long for less than an minute of content you will be wasting your time if you are using this app. I wouldn’t waste your time with this app. Just watch your corny shows on your normal streaming platform and save yourself the time, energy, and money. You’re not missing anything by skipping this app.
Dear, during the VIP period, you will gain unlimited access to all series on ReelShort without coins/bonus watching ads, and you can also earn free rewards: 1. Daily check-in; 2. Watch Ads; 3. Watch Ads to unlock episodes without paying. As we now with 2 new shows added weekly, hope you can give the subscription a try!

'She wanted to live a good life': Parents of Indian doctor raped and murdered on night shift

powerpoint presentation from ipad to tv

The rape and murder of a trainee doctor in India’s Kolkata city earlier this month has sparked massive outrage in the country, with tens of thousands of people protesting on the streets, demanding justice. BBC Hindi spoke to the doctor’s parents who remember their daughter as a clever, young woman who wanted to lead a good life and take care of her family.

All names and details of the family have been removed as Indian laws prohibit identifying a rape victim or her family.

"Please make sure dad takes his medicines on time. Don't worry about me."

This was the last thing the 31-year-old doctor said to her mother, hours before she was brutally assaulted in a hospital where she worked.

“The next day, we tried reaching her but the phone kept ringing," the mother told the BBC at their family home in a narrow alley, a few kilometres from Kolkata.

The same morning, the doctor’s partially-clothed body was discovered in the seminar hall, bearing extensive injuries. A hospital volunteer worker has been arrested in connection with the crime.

The incident has sparked massive outrage across the country, with protests in several major cities. At the weekend, doctors across hospitals in India observed a nation-wide strike called by the Indian Medical Association (IMA), with only emergency services available at major hospitals.

The family say they feel hollowed out by their loss.

“At the age of 62, all my dreams have been shattered," her father told the BBC.

Since their daughter's horrific murder, their house, located in a respectable neighbourhood, has become the focus of intense media scrutiny.

Behind a police barricade stand dozens of journalists and camera crew, hoping to capture the parents in case they step out.

A group of 10 to 15 police officers perpetually stand guard to ensure the cameras do not take photos of the victim's house.

Getty Images Women hold lit candles as they take part in a vigil named 'Reclaim the Night' on 15 August in Kolkata

The crime took place on the night of 9 August, when the woman, who was a junior doctor at the city's RG Kar Medical College, had gone to a seminar room to rest after a gruelling 36-hour shift.

Her parents remembered how the young doctor, their only child, was a passionate student who worked extremely hard to become a doctor.

“We come from a lower middle-class background and built everything on our own. When she was little, we struggled financially," said the father, who is a tailor.

The living room where he sat was cluttered with tools from his profession - a sewing machine, spools of thread and a heavy iron. There were scraps of fabrics scattered on the floor.

There were times when the family did not have money to even buy pomegranates, their daughter's favourite fruit, he continued.

"But she could never bring herself to ask for anything for herself."

“People would say, ‘You can’t make your daughter a doctor'. But my daughter proved everyone wrong and got admission in a government-run medical college," he added, breaking down. A relative tried to console him.

The mother recalled how her daughter would write in her diary every night before going to bed.

“She wrote that she wanted to win a gold medal for her medical degree. She wanted to lead a good life and take care of us too,” she said softly.

And she did.

The father, who is a high blood-pressure patient, said their daughter always made sure he took his medicines on time.

“Once I ran out of medicine and thought I’d just buy it the next day. But she found out, and even though it was around 10 or 11pm at night, she said no-one will eat until the medicine is here,” he said.

“That’s how she was - she never let me worry about anything."

Her mother listened intently, her hands repeatedly touching a gold bangle on her wrist - a bangle she had bought with her daughter.

Getty Images Resident doctors shout slogans protesting in front of the Health Ministry in Delhi, demanding justice for the doctor from Kolkata's RG Kar Hospital, on 19 August, 2024

The parents said their daughter’s marriage had almost been finalised. "But she would tell us not to worry and say she would continue to take care of all our expenses even after marriage," the father said.

As he spoke those words, the mother began to weep, her soft sobs echoing in the background.

Occasionally, her eyes would wander to the staircase, leading up to their daughter's room.

The door has remained shut since 10 August and the parents have not set foot there since the news of her death.

They say they still can't believe that something "so barbaric" could happen to their daughter at her workplace.

"The hospital should be a safe place," the father said.

Violence against women is a major issue in India - an average of 90 rapes a day were reported in 2022, according to government data.

The parents said their daughter’s death had brought back memories of a 2012 case when a 22-year-old physiotherapy intern was gang-raped on a moving bus in capital Delhi. Her injuries were fatal.

Following the assault - which made global headlines and led to weeks of protests - India tightened laws against sexual violence.

But reported cases of sexual assault have gone up and access to justice still remains a challenge for women.

Last week, thousands participated in a Reclaim the Night march held in Kolkata to demand safety for women across the country.

The doctor’s case has also put a spotlight on challenges faced by healthcare workers, who have demanded a thorough and impartial investigation into the murder and a federal law to protect them - especially women - at work.

Federal Health Minister JP Nadda has assured doctors that he will bring in strict measures to ensure better safety in their professional environments.

But for the parents of the doctor, it's too little too late.

“We want the harshest punishment for the culprit," the father said.

“Our state, our country and the whole world is asking for justice for our daughter."
