Dear friends, I regret that I can no longer entertain individual requests to send materials through email. The demands are overwhelming and I'm truly sorry that I'm not able to keep up. Plus, embedded in this blog are around 10GB (perhaps more) worth of materials, so I think sharing them through email is not practical. Model essay 1.

Write a story It was a hot Monday morning. Alimin was on his way home from school. As he was feeling hungry, he took a shortcut through Pak Abu’s house. Upon reaching Pak Abu’s house, he saw a huge mango tree. It was bearing a lot of ripe juicy mangoes. The mangoes made Alimin’s mouth water. He was tempted to pick the mangoes. Alimin put his knapsack down and looked left and right. There was nobody around. Without much hesitation, Alimin started to climb up the tree. He picked all the big and juicy mangoes. He ate them to his heart’s content. Then he saw more juicy mangoes at the far end of the branch. He decided to pick them. He stepped on a weak branch and reached for the mangoes. All of a sudden, the branch broke. Alimin fell to the ground. He groaned in pain and screamed for help. Luckily a passer-by heard his scream. He quickly ran to the rescue. He examined Alimin and told him that his right leg was broken. Taking pity on him, the man took Alimin to the hospital. Alimin regretted what he had done. MODEL ESSAY 2 Write a story Sazali who is twelve years old, is an active boy. He likes to go outing with his friends. They love nature. They often go for a picnic at the river nearby. Usually, they cycle to the river for a dip in the crystal clear water. Last week during the first semester holidays, Sazali and his friends had a picnic by the river in their village. The river was just a stone’s throw away from Mr Tan’s orchard. After cycling for half an hour, the boys finally arrived at their destination. Upon reaching there, they quickly looked for a nice spot to put their things. They had brought along a lot of food and drinks. Without much delay, the boys changed their attires and jumped into the water for a swim. They were on cloud nine, playing and swimming in the river. Suddenly, Sazali noticed something floating in the water. It was coming towards them. He thought it was a crocodile. Feeling scared, he screamed his lung out. Everyone panicked and ran out of the water as quick as lightning. They ran for their lives. One of them, Meng Keong even climbed up a tree. They waited anxiously for someone to come and save them. As the object floated by, Sazali braved himself to take a closer look. He realised that it was just a log, not a crocodile. He told all his friends about it. They felt relieved and burst out laughing. MODEL ESSAY 3 Write a story Last week on a fine Sunday morning, Izat and his family went to Rantau Abang beach for a picnic. They set off their journey at nine o’clock in the morning and arrived there an hour later. Upon arriving there, they could see a big crowd of people on this golden sandy beach. They could also witness many people swimming happily in the sea. The water was indeed crystal clear. Everyone was in the seventh heaven. They quickly looked for a nice spot to put all their things. Izat and his siblings helped their parents to take out all food and drinks from the car.

“Guys, shall we go for a swim,’ suggested Izat excitedly. Everyone nodded in agreement. In no time, Izat’s family was in the water, enjoying themselves. Suddenly, Izat heard a faint noise. At first, he paid no heed to it. But, soon it grew louder and louder. He heard someone screaming for help. He looked around. To his surprise, he saw a boy struggling in the water. He was bobbing up and down. Izat quickly told his father about it. Without much thinking, Izat’s father swam towards the boy. He put his arm around the drowning boy’s neck and pulled him to the shore. He swam with all his might. Finally he managed to save the boy. He felt very tired but happy for he had saved a life. MODEL ESSAY 4 Write a story Last weekend Salma’s parents were away on business. They had to attend an important meeting in Pulau Langkawi. After spending two hours reading a story book, Salma felt bored and wanted to do something more challenging. So, she invited her friends over to her house. Salma and her friends played hide-and-seek in the garden. They were running all over the place, looking for a suitable place to hide. Azman, one of Salma’s friends did not want himself to be found easily. So, he decided to hide outside the house. He ran out without looking left or right. Just then, their neighbour, Pakcik Hassan who is a fishmonger, rode by on his motorcycle. When he saw Azman appeared in front of his motorcycle, he swerved to the left to avoid hitting him. He lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a pond. Pak Hassan fell off his motorcycle and landed in middle of the pond. He was wet all over. His motorcycle was badly dented. His weighing scale and many other things were thrown into the air. When the children saw this, they screamed in fear. Mrs Lim, the neighbour rushed out to see what was happening. She scolded the children. All the children apologised to Pak Hassan. Fortunately, he was not seriously injured. He only had bruises on his hands and legs. However, his shirt was dirty and wet. MODEL ESSAY 5 Write a story. Tong Kiat who is my cousin, is an adventurous boy. He studies in SK Panglima Bayu and is a good scout in his school. One oh his hobbies is camping. He is not only a clever but also responsible boy. All the scouts and teachers praise him for his good manners. A fortnight ago on a fine Sunday morning, Tong Kiat and a group of scouts went on a camping trip. The camp was situated beside a river, five kilometers away from their school. Upon arriving at the campsite, the scouts searched for a nice spot to pitch their tents. Then they went jungle trekking. Everyone was excited. After enjoying themselves looking at the beautiful floral and fauna in the jungle, they also saw a few flying squirrels. “Let’s follow one of those creatures,” suggested Tong Kiat. Everyone nodded in agreement. They quickly followed the flying squirrel. They then realised that they had gone too far into the jungle. They also knew they were lost. All of them felt worried. They sat on a big rock and looked around. They started to think of a plan to go back to their campsite. After a while, Tong kiat heard the sound of running water. An idea came to him. All of them decided to run along the riverbank. They were sure they would be able to reach the campsite. After running for more than half an hour, they felt exhausted. They walked slowly. Finally reached their campsite. They felt relieved and happy.

Write a story based on the pictures below. You may use the words given to help you. Zawiah who is my nephew, is a chubby nine-year-old girl. She lives happily with her family in Taman Kemumin, ten kilometres from Kota Bharu. She studies at Sekolah Kebangsaan Kemumin. She is a friendly, kind and hardworking girl. All the teachers and friends like her very much. One Tuesday morning, Zawiah woke up with a severe stomach-ache. She felt very sick and was groaning in pain. She went in and out of the toilet. She told her mother about it. Feeling worried, Zawiah’s mother quickly took her to the nearby clinic. At the clinic, there were a lot of people waiting to get treatments. Zawiah and her mother sat and waited patiently to see the doctor. Her mother kept consoling her. At last, it was Zawiah’s turn to enter the doctor’s room. The doctor gave Zawiah and a smile and asked her a few questions. He then examined her thoroughly. Zawiah told the doctor that the day before she had lunch at a stall which was just a walking distance away from her school. After paying for her food, she noticed that the cook who had prepared her food had dirty hands. His clothes was old and dirty too. The doctor then diagnosed that she probably suffered from food poisoning. He gave her some medicine. He also advised her to rest and to drink plenty of water. Lastly, he also advised Zawiah to be extra careful and choosy when eating out. MODEL ESSAY 9 Write a story based on the pictures below. You may use the words given to help you. Zainuddin who is eleven years old, lives in a small fishing village, forty-eight kilometers from Kota Bharu. He has a small loving family. Everyone in the village is fond of Zainuddin. He is not only friendly but also kind. He likes to help people who are in trouble. One night, there was a fearful storm in Zainuddin’s village. The winds were blowing strongly and the rain was pouring. The next morning, all the villagers were surprised to see many trees were rooted off and roofs were blown away. Then, Zainudin’s parents found out that a big tree had fallen on to Makcik Lijah’s house. It had damaged her kitchen. Makcik Lijah was very sad and weeping the whole morning. Taking pity on her, Zainuddin and his family went over to Makcik Lijah’s house. Zainuddin’s father promised to help her. He called some villagers and asked them to help to repair Makcik Lijah’s house. The villagers saw eye to eye with the idea. Without wasting time, Zainuddin’s father and the villagers started working. Some of them helped to remove the tree trunk while one of them sawed up the logs into smaller parts using a chain saw spent the whole day repairing the kitchen. At last, just before dusk, they managed to complete the work. Makcik Lijah was very grateful to all of them. Cheerful tears welled up in her eyes. She thanked them for being such kind and helpful neighbours.

English Makes the World Go Round

Have you ever heard of that idiom before? Maybe you’ve heard of the phrase, ‘Money makes the world go round’. So why did I say English makes the world go round instead? The idiom is used to express the importance of something to the normal and ordinary operation of life or even the whole world!

The English language has been a known and recognized medium used to communicate at a global level for decades now. Having a common language opens up all barriers, making it possible to learn things that might have not been accessible in your country and making friends with people all across the globe that shares the same interest as you.

Your world will feel a whole lot bigger the moment you learn how to utilize the English language. Even landing a job will be easier once you are able to communicate in English. Nowadays, most jobs will have a prerequisite condition for their employees to be able to speak English well.

This shows the vital significance of the English language in making the world move along the axis of modernization. Thus, we should not get left behind by other countries in pursuing a better future for our people.

• What is the current status of the UPSR 2021 examination?

Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) has been a standard to evaluate the teaching and learning curve for the students’ whole primary school experience. We’ve heard how the 2020 UPSR and PT3 examinations were canceled last year due to the virus outbreak. And some of you may or may not have heard the Ministry of Education (MOE) announcement on discontinuing UPSR examination in the future.

While some parents and teachers have different and divided opinions on the sudden news of the plan to abolish UPSR, the final decision for the abolishment still hasn’t been made. Thus, we should try to follow the usual norm until then, which is to do our best and prepare for the examination that is to come.

In today’s topic, we will be discussing the English subject for UPSR, mainly on Paper 2 Essay Writing, Section C questions! Although, before we start, get to know the UPSR English Paper Marking Scheme .

• UPSR English Examination- Writing an Essay

English Paper 2 Writing for UPSR prioritized the student's ability in constructing sentences and writing an essay in English.

This paper plays a crucial role in the UPSR students' overall grades as more often than not, the student would achieve 4 or 5 A's and 1 B's in their UPSR result, the non-satisfactory grade being English as students would fail the writing section of English Paper 2 Penulisan (Writing).

Thus, we at Superprof would like to share some important tips to tackle UPSR English Writing questions.

Here, the overall mark to be obtained is 25 marks. You will be given two different sets of questions and you are only required to choose ONE.

The question will have two options. They will either give you a picture with several words that you can use in your essay or, they will give you around three pictures that show you how the story goes and include some disjointed sentences you need to connect. You can choose which scenario you prefer and write an essay on that question.

Some questions will provide a starting sentence and ask you to continue. For example:

Begin your story with:

Lisa and Ana were walking home from school yesterday. They were going to Ana's house to study together. Suddenly,...

When writing an essay, or any other narrative type stories, we would always use past tense, either simple past tense or a continuous past tense. This is because a story is usually a retelling of something that had happened in the past, fictitious or not. An exception to this is if you include a dialogue showing a conversation between the characters, in which case, you might want to use the present tense. So, when you start writing, always keep the tenses in mind and make sure it's consistent throughout the story.

For those of you who have difficulties in coming up with sentences to write a story, I have a great tip on how to achieve that.

First Step- Create a Draft for UPSR English Essay Writing

In any kind of essay, be it a formatted essay or a narrative kind, creating a draft is a crucial step to write a good essay.

Drafting your ideas can be as easy as scribbling out the points that came across your mind on the corner of the question paper, to create an organized flow chart of how you want your story to go. Whichever way you prefer it, having a draft can tremendously help you write an understandable story flow and also saves time!

You might think that writing a draft would waste precious time when it’s not! A draft acts as a referral point so you won’t forget the main point you want to come across in the story.

Identify the Subject, Verb, and Object in UPSR English Paper 2

The most important thing that you need to remember when drafting a story essay is to map out these 3 things:

• Subject- Who/what is the subject that was shown in the picture?
• Verb- What is the action that is going on in the picture?
• Object- Identify the who, what, where, and when.

Now, what about the verb? As we have learned in English classes, a verb is a word used to describe an action. Example of an action in the image is cycling! If you combine both the subject and verb together, it will sound like this;

‘Abu was cycling.’

Remember, past tense. Now, we've got two out of three items checked before we can make a full proper sentence.

Lastly, we need to identify the objects that can be used to describe the image better. It also acts as a complement for the first two words. As I have written, start by figuring the five wives one husband (5W1H). Remember what that means?

Looking at the context from the picture given, we can answer the 'When'. Study the picture. Look at the background. From the description given above, we can guess that the place where Abu is cycling is in the park. Be general. You don't have to be specific where exactly the park is unless the word is already given to you.

With the subject, verb, and objects combined, you will have a full sentence of;

‘Abu is cycling in the park.’

Congratulations! Now we have a working sentence that can serve as the start of our essay. BUT!

The sentence sounds plain. This might work for a standard one student, however, a UPSR candidate must show that they have a wider range of vocabulary compared to the younger students. You are going into a secondary school next year. You should be able to write an interesting essay that will captivate your English teachers as they mark your paper.

Word Linkers and Time

To make an essay more polished, there must be a mixture of different styles and writing formats. One thing that you can do is include linkers or combining two sentences into a compound sentence.
