To be human is to be kind. However, kind people are rare. However, the world is full of bad people and bad things. To make the world a better place, we all need to care about other people, animals, and nature.

Students of class 3 can be asked to write a long essay on various topics as it helps them broaden their thought process and long sentence construction ability. Here is a long essay on kindness for class 3 students, and this will explain to them the meaning and the importance of being kind.

We are taught from childhood to be good to others. Our parents and teachers all talk about how good things happen to good people. They tell us everyone loves a good person, and they also emphasise that the most important quality of a good person is kindness. Kindness is the basic characteristic of being human. Let us understand in detail what kindness is and its importance in our lives.

What Is Kindness?

Kindness can be simply described as being caring, compassionate, polite, and thoughtful. Being kind means having love, concern, tenderness, and respect for others. Kind people support other when they have a problem and don’t hurt anyone, whether a person, animal, or plant. Kindness means being a good person who respects and cares for everyone.

Importance Of Kindness

Kindness is an important virtue. To be a good human, we have to be a kind person first. One cannot be a good person without being kind. Kindness is important to make this world and our society better. Even for our growth, kindness is important. We help each other because we care for each other. It is our kindness that makes us compassionate towards our family, friends, and strangers too. Being kind is important to nurture our environment too. We can care for nature and animals only when we are kind. In this fast-paced world, most people only think about their well-being. That makes them selfish or bad towards others. Therefore, kindness is crucial to ensure the world retains its humanity. When we do a kind deed for someone, say some encouraging words or care for them, they feel good. Then when they see someone in trouble, they do the same for them. Thus, a chain of good deeds is formed. This brings a positive change to people and the world. So, kindness is important to make the world a better place for us and our coming generations.

How Can You Be Kind To Others?

We all are kind to our families as we love them. But for others, we find it difficult to be kind. To be kind to others, we don’t have to do much. We just need to be genuinely good to them. Kindness doesn’t require us to spend money on others. We just need to be caring, polite, and compassionate. Saying a few encouraging words, caring for them in trouble, helping them, and not hurting others are essential traits of a kind person.

Kindness is a fundamental quality that maintains the balance in the world and makes it a beautiful place to live.

Children learn things better when they are involved in them. So, to teach kindness and its importance to kids, reading and writing essays is a great method. When they read or write essays on kindness, they understand what kindness is and what is needed to be kind. Kids learn the value of being empathetic and polite to be good humans. The world we live in today has been through a lot of things from world wars to epidemics, but one thing which remained constant throughout was resilience and kindness. essay on kindness

Importance of Kindness

Kindness towards nature, animals and other people has the ability to transform the world and make it a beautiful place for living. But, it is also important to remember that kindness towards you is also essential for personal growth.

Kindness is basically being polite, compassionate and thoughtful. Every religion and faith teaches its followers to be kind. Most importantly, kindness must not limit to humans but also to every living creature.

Even nature has its own way of showing kindness. For instance, the trees grow fruits for us and provide us with shade. One must not see kindness as a core value but as a fundamental behavioural element. When you are kind to your loved ones, you create a stable base.

As people are becoming more self-centred today, we must learn kindness. We must try to integrate it into ourselves. You might not know how a small act of kindness can bring about a change in someone’s life. So, be kind always.

Kindness Always Wins

There is no doubt that kindness always wins and it has been proven time and again by people. Sid is a greedy man who does not share his wealth with anyone, not even his family members.

He also does not pay his workers well. One day, he loses his bag of gold coins and loses his temper. Everyone helps him out to search for it but no one finds it. Finally, his worker’s little son finds the bag.

Upon checking the bag, he sees all the coins are there. But, his greed makes him play a trick on the poor worker. He claims that there were more coins in the bag and the worker stole them.

The issue goes to the court and the judge confirms from Sid whether his bag had more coins to which he agrees. So, the judge rules out that as Sid’s bag had more coins , the bag which the worker’s son found is not his.

Therefore, the bag gets handed to the worker as no one else claims it. Consequently, you see how the worker’s son act of kindness won and paid him well. On the other hand, how Sid’s greediness resulted in his loss only.

It could turn a bad day into a good one and make people believe in humanity again. Also, acts of kindness can help create a sense of togetherness and harmony in a community, making it a more caring and peaceful place for everyone.

Importance of Kindness

Kindness makes people feel good, lowers stress, and makes relationships stronger. Studies have shown that acts of kindness can release the hormone oxytocin. Kindness isn’t just for people; we should also be kind to our family, friends, and coworkers if we want to have strong, peaceful relationships with them.

Disadvantages of Kindness

While the benefits of kindness are undeniable, it is important to recognize that being excessively kind can have its drawbacks. Some individuals may take advantage of kind-heartedness, leading to emotional exhaustion. Kind people always forgive the mistakes of the people they love. This is a big mistake, because the person will keep making the same mistakes over and over again. Kind people are easy to take advantage of because people know they will only be nice to them and help them every time.

Kindness is an important part of being human and has the power to change people’s lives for the better. Through acts of kindness, we can build a more caring and peaceful society and help people understand and care about each other more. Kindness Essay

Kindness is a valuable trait that can have a positive impact on our lives and the lives of those around us. It can help to build strong relationships, reduce stress and anxiety, and improve our physical health. However, it's important to remember that being kind can be difficult at times, and it takes practice and patience to make it a consistent part of our daily lives. Here are a few sample essays on kindness.

Kindness Essay

100 Word Essay On Kindness

There has been a saying that “be kind and do kind” means that be soulfully and mindfully kind so that you can do. Kindness is a type of behaviour that is marked by acts of generosity, consideration, rendering assistance or concern for others without expecting any praise or reward in return for the same.

Kindness is one of the main topics in the Bible, and it is a topic which is well taught and praised by every religion in the world. Nietzsche has said kindness and love are considered to be the "most curative herbs and agents in human intercourse". Not only this but there have been practitioners who have identified kindness as one of the most beautiful things to happen to mankind.

200 Word Essay On Kindness

Kindness and love are closely intertwined, as one often leads to the other. When we act out of generosity and do something good for others, we are likely to receive similar or even greater acts of kindness in return. This is the principle of karma, where we reap what we sow. By being kind to others, we are able to empathise and put ourselves in their shoes, and in doing so, we are able to make a positive impact on their lives.

The practice of kindness has many benefits, not just for the recipients, but also for the giver. It can help to build friendships, bring joy and make life more fulfilling. In a world where competition can often be fierce, it is important to teach the younger generation the importance of kindness and generosity. By fostering these qualities in schools, we can help to create a kinder, more compassionate society.

There are countless books, articles and other resources that explore the topic of kindness in depth. But despite this, society as a whole has yet to fully embrace a culture of kindness on a broader level. By making a conscious effort to be kind to others, we can work together to make the world a better place for all.

500 Word Essay On Kindness

Kindness is a powerful force that has the ability to change lives, both for the giver and the receiver. It is defined as the act of being considerate and caring towards others, and it encompasses a wide range of behaviors, from small acts of generosity to large acts of selflessness.

One of the benefits of being kind is that it can help to build strong and meaningful relationships. When we are kind to others, we demonstrate that we care about them and that we value their well-being. This can help to create a sense of trust and understanding, which are essential ingredients for any healthy relationship.

Another benefit of kindness is that it can help to reduce stress and anxiety. Studies have shown that acts of kindness can trigger the release of feel-good hormones in the brain, such as oxytocin and serotonin, which can help to improve our mood and reduce feelings of stress.

Additionally, kindness can also have a positive impact on our physical health. Research has shown that people who engage in acts of kindness on a regular basis have a lower risk of developing certain chronic conditions, such as heart disease and diabetes.

One way to make kindness a regular practice is to set small and achievable goals for ourselves. For example, we can make a commitment to perform one act of kindness per day, or to make a conscious effort to be more understanding and empathetic towards others. Another way is to remind ourselves that kindness is not only about grand gestures, but also about small actions that can have a big impact on someone's life.

Personal Experience

I remember the day when a severe storm hit my village, leaving many of the houses damaged and people homeless. As I walked around the village, I saw the destruction and the despair on the faces of my fellow villagers. I knew that I had to do something to help.

I rallied my friends and together we set out to repair the houses and provide shelter for those who had lost theirs. It was hard work, but we were determined to help as many people as possible. We worked tirelessly, through the rain and the wind, never once complaining.

As we went from house to house, I could see the gratitude and appreciation on the faces of the people we were helping. It was a small act of kindness, but it made such a big difference in their lives.

Through our efforts, the village slowly began to recover, and the people were able to rebuild their homes and their lives. But the kindness we had shown was not forgotten. We had shown the villagers that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope, and that through kindness and compassion, we can overcome any obstacle.

From that day on, I felt proud of my actions, and I realized the power of kindness. I had shown that one person's kindness can make a huge impact in the lives of many. I felt a sense of accomplishment and happiness that I was able to bring people together and make a difference.

Kindness is the quality of being polite and considerate towards others. It is a quality that not everyone possesses. Very few people in this world are blessed with this quality and their presence is a blessing for those around them. Here are essays on Kindness of varying lengths to help you with it in your exam. You can select any Kindness essay given below as per your need:

Long and Short Essay on Kindness in English

Kindness essay 1 (200 words).

Kindness simply means being good to people around us. It can be done by being polite to them, offering them emotional support, helping them financially, boosting their morale or by simply being supportive to them. Kind words and kind deeds done by us are not only a boon for the recipient but are also a blessing to us. When we help others with their tasks, are polite to them and do other such acts of kindness it gives us a sense of accomplishment and joy.

Kindness has been described differently in different religious books and literature in the past. However, they all echo the same thought. All of them advocate that human beings must show kindness to other human beings as well as other creatures. We must be polite, friendly and helpful. While we should exhibit kindness we must not do it with the aim of getting anything in return. Kindness is a selfless act.

If God has been kind enough to give us the things we need we must be kind to others and render help in whatever way we can. As Lord Buddha said, “A generous heart, kind speech and a life of service and compassion are the things that renew humanity”.

Kindness Essay 2 (300 words)

Introduction

A person with a pleasant disposition and a concern for others is said to be kind. Such people are empathetic towards others. They help those around them whenever there is a need and never hesitate to go out of their way to bring a smile on other people’s face.

Small Acts of Kindness can Make Big Difference

Showing kindness towards others does not necessarily mean doing something big for them. It can be something as small as being polite and offering emotional support to someone. It can be something as tiny as passing a smile to the old lady who sits all alone in her balcony watching people go by or giving a small bite of your bread to the sparrow that tweets on your terrace every day. Such acts of kindness don’t take much but can make a big difference in the other person’s life.

You don’t have to be a millionaire to offer help and be nice to people around. You just need to have a good heart. Each one of us has something to give to the world. We just need to recognize what it is. Besides, we need to understand the need to be kind to people around us. We need to understand that the world would become a much better place if people are kind to each other.

By being kind to the other people we do not only help them and light a smile on their face but also feel good at a deeper level. It gives a sense of satisfaction.

We can rarely find kind people around. In fact, if we look at it, are we kind ourselves? We may feel the pain of people around us but how many times have we lend a helping hand towards them? If we expect others to be kind towards us, we must first inculcate this habit in ourselves.

Kindness Essay 3 (400 words)

It is rightly said, “You will never have a completely bad day if you show kindness at least once”. Being kind and compassionate towards others brings immense joy. The joy of giving is much greater than that of receiving. Kindness gets us closer to God and renders inner peace.

Acts of Kindness Never Go Unnoticed

While we must indulge in acts of kindness selflessly without expecting anything in return, however it is said that no act of kindness, even the smallest one, goes unnoticed. This is because God is watching us at all times. And he is known for being fair in his ways.

Being kind in general by being polite with others keeps us in a good mood as compared to the times when we get into arguments, or judge others or raise our voice. Similarly, offering even a small help to someone makes us feel good about ourselves. Helping others and being kind to them gives us an immediate sense of satisfaction. And whatever we give comes back to us in abundance. This is also known as the law of Karma.

However, if we show kindness to others hoping that we will get something in return then it is not considered an act of kindness. It is rather an act of selfishness.

Kindness towards Animals

Not just with human beings, we must also be kind towards animals. Many people throw stones at the street dogs and cows to scare them away. It is alright if done as an act of self dense however many people do it just for fun. We must rather be kind towards them. Treating the animals appropriately and feeding them are two of the ways to show kindness towards them. We waste a lot of food ever now. We throw our leftover food in the dustbin. Instead of throwing it away like that, we must take out some time to feed cats, dogs and cows roaming around near our house with it. We can also show kindness towards them by adopting them. Likewise, we can feed the birds by hanging bird feeders in our lawn or balcony. These small and random acts of kindness will not only do good to these birds and animals but will also make you feel better about yourself.

People who indulge in charity work and help other people with various big and small tasks are happier than those who only work for themselves.

Kindness Essay 4 (500 words)

In many cultures kindness is considered to be an essential virtue. It is said to be among the seven essential virtues that the moral intelligence consists of. The other virtues include conscience, respect, tolerance, self-control, fairness and empathy. Being kind means being polite and friendly and helping those around us.

Kindness is an Uncommon Trait

Though essential, kindness is not a trait that is found commonly in people these days. In today’s times people have become extremely self-absorbed. All they can think about is themselves. The growing competition at various stages in our life is one of the main reasons why people are turning out to be this way. Everyone around is busy making themselves better and showing the world as to how better their life is compared to that of others. They do not hesitate hurting those in their way to achieve what they want. While there is nothing wrong with improvising oneself but one must understand that there is much more to life and it is not always just about them. People have become ungrateful and do not understand that God has been kind enough to them and they must in turn be kind towards others.

Now, while most people do not possess the trait of kindness, it can be embedded in them with little effort. This can be done by teaching its importance from the very beginning. Importance of kindness must be taught in school. Workshops must be conducted and lectures must be given to tell children as to why being kind to people is necessary. This subject must form an essential part of the curriculum in schools. It is essential to emphasize its importance repeatedly from the very beginning for people to understand and inculcate it.

Kindness is Essential in Relationships

What is the most common trait that people look for in a relationship? It is nothing else but kindness. Nobody likes to befriend people who are rude, arrogant, selfish and haughty. Everyone likes those who are polite, soft-hearted, kind and generous. We must be kind to those around but as it is said charity begins at home so we must start with our near and dear ones.

Many people are kind and polite to their neighbours, friends and colleagues but are rude with their immediate family members such as their wife, parents, children and siblings. They scold them, do not pay much attention towards them and often indulge in arguments with them. Such people cannot be called kind no matter how nice they are with people outside or the amount of charity they do. If they are not kind at home, they are merely donning a facade to maintain a good image outside. In reality, they are frustrated inside and all their frustration comes out at home.

If a person is really kind at heart, he will be equally kind at home as well as outside. Being kind to people without expecting anything in return renders inner peace and happiness. It makes life sweeter.

Practicing kindness is not difficult. Showering kindness on those around us should be the ultimate goal of each one of us. Try it and see how it can be one of the most joyful experiences in life.

Kindness Essay 5 (600 words)

A person who is kind is said to bear a good moral character. He is loved and talked highly about by people around. However, this should not be the reason to indulge in acts of kindness. Kindness is something that must be done selflessly. If we expect people to appreciate us or return the favour then it is not kindness, it is selfishness. It clearly indicates that we are doing it with a selfish motif.

Different Definitions of Kindness

Different learned people and religious scriptures have defined kindness differently in the past. As per Chinese teacher and philosopher, Confucius, “Of neighbourhoods, kindness is the most beautiful. How can the man be considered wise who when he had the choice does not settle in kindness”. He urges to “recompense kindness with kindness.”

As per ancient Greek philosopher and scientist, Aristotle, kindness means “helpfulness towards someone in need, not in return for anything, nor for the advantage of the helper himself, but for that of the person helped”. As per American writer and humorist, Mark Twain, “Kindness is the language which the dumb can speak, the deaf can hear & the blind can see.” As per Talmud, the central text of Rabbinic Judaism, “deeds of kindness are equal in weight to all the commandments.”

“I expect to pass through life but once. If therefore, there be any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do to any fellow being, let me do it now, and not defer or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again”, said the American philosopher, William Penn.

The definitions of kindness may differ but the essence of all these is the same. Kindness is referred to as an essential virtue.

God Has Been Kind to You; You Must Be Kind to Others

If God has been kind enough to give you a good life, you must be kind enough to help those around you build a good life too. This is to say that if you earn well then give a small amount of your earnings in charity. If you are good in studies then do not hesitate to help your fellow students if they come to you for any kind of assistance. If God has made you physically-abled then help those who aren’t. For instance, you can help a blind person cross the road or carry the grocery bag home for the old lady who lives in your neighbourhood. If you have enough space in your balcony or garden then hang bird feeder and keep a bowl of water filled for the birds. Donate your old clothes and shoes to the poor and needy. There are so many poor kids who roam around without shoes and clothes. A number of NGOs request people to help them serve such people. Even a small contribution from your side can make a difference. Likewise, do not waste food. Give the leftover food to those who need it instead of showing it the dustbin.

If you can take out some time from your schedule then get involved in social service. You can begin by providing basic education to the poor little children around your house who cannot afford to study in the school.

These are small examples of how you can spread kindness. Imagine if each one of us inculcates this quality and is kind to everyone around, this world will become a much better place to live.

People must be kind to those around them and see how things change for good. Being kind to others, helping them and spreading smiles does not only do good to the recipients but also offers a deep sense of satisfaction to the one who indulges in the act.

Kindness is a virtue that many do not possess, but they expect it from others. Kindness is valued in all aspects of life no matter how old one is, whether you are 5 or 60 years old. It is an act or a good deed done selflessly. The speech on Kindness For Children can be presented in various ways. Long and Short Speech on Kindness For Students and Children

Long speech on kindness for children.

This format of Speech on Kindness For Students And Children is helpful for students in grades 8-12 to make a 5 minutes speech.

Good Morning everyone, I warmly welcome the Principal, teachers, and my dear friends. I am ABC (mention your name) from grade (mention the class in which you are studying) here to speak on the topic of Kindness. Kindness is a quality one possesses and acts on it by exhibiting behaviors of friendliness, generosity, and being considered. It is a benevolent attitude that one possesses.

Kindness is actually inherent to human beings and we are inculcated with and reminded of it since our childhood. Kindness can be developed through empathy. Empathy is what one feels when they put themselves in others' shoes and kindness is how they express that by helping them and making their lives a little bit easier and better.

Every living being is deserving of kindness. One only needs to have good intentions to be kind, nothing else. When one has good intentions, they are attentive to others; they lend a helping hand, lend a good ear and listen to others' problems, and help someone in need. When you show respect to your elders, it is also an act of kindness.

One should always be kind even to strangers, help them cross the road, carry their bags, even if you disagree with their opinions, make your point with compassion, be considerate of others' problems because everyone is dealing with something or other and your act of kindness can actually help them feel better about themselves. Do not be judgemental about anyone and give people a chance.

You can also be kind to your friends and siblings by helping and supporting them in every way. Sharing is the best form of kindness, sharing things or feelings and problems. Listening to others, your parents, and teachers and understanding their perspectives is also a kind act.

A kind act is not just limited to human beings. One must display kindness to animals as well. My friends are the kindest people I know. Just last week, when we were boarding the bus after school to go home, my friend saw a wounded puppy and instead of ignoring it, he tended to his wounds and took him home. Now they have a new family member named Guppy. He found a new home because one act of kindness isn't that wonderful.

Kindness is not a cowardly act; it is for the brave and the bold. Standing up for the right and helping those in need shows our truth. Kindness truly is a selfless act when one helps others without expecting anything in return. When you are kind, you lead a peaceful, happy life and you sleep better at night.

A kind act is truly magical when you are kind to someone, they forget all about their problems and even a bad day becomes a good one. Kindness has the power to change the world. The world would be a more beautiful place if we were a little kinder to each other. Let's all be kind to one another. Every day, consciously do one act of kindness. Ask yourself, "Was I kind today?"

Good morning everyone, respect the Principal, teachers, and my dear friends. I Abc (mention your name) feel grateful for the opportunity to speak about kindness. Kindness is the supreme way to show someone you care about them or your respect and love for them. Kind people are considerate, generous, friendly, affectionate, and warm.

Often kindness is perceived as naivety or weakness because it has a very gentle approach, but it is not. The prime example of kindness is Mother Teresa, who selflessly dedicated her entire life to serving sick children in a foreign country she had never been to and nothing about. She exuded kindness and that is strength in true terms.

We, too, can act upon this value by showing empathy and compassion for everyone in our lives. We can show small acts of kindness every day that will have a large impact like listening to our parents, teachers, and elders, treating everyone with equality, taking the time to actually sit and listen to a friend's problems, and instead of judging by showing them the way to be. It is also important to know that every being is deserving of kindness and compassion, be it animals or humans.

It is in kindness and the doing of it that will change you in unpredictable ways; it will enrich your life more than the ones you show kindness to and have compassion for.

Let's change the world one kind of action at a time. People often say others remember you not through gifts or money but how you made them feel. And kindness can make everyone feel better, special, and important. Isn't that a great way to be remembered by making people feel good just by being kind?

People in all Hues

The world around us consists of all kinds of people. People who are soft hearted, mild, gentle natured, harsh, rude, violent, calm, outgoing, introverts etc. Human character is moulded by various factors. First of all, it depends on the upbringing of kids at home.

Next, the environment at home plays a major factor. The friends circle that we belong to, the kind of company we have with our close circles, our parents, relatives, their behaviors, all cast a very important influence in shaping a person’s behavior and characteristics.

No person is hundred percent good or bad. A so called good person also has negative attributes inside him and a person who is branded as being bad also shows good qualities inside him. It is the scenarios or occurrences of events that change a person and make him good or bad.

Generally, we shouldn’t judge a person in a bad situation since a person does not respond properly when he is angry or high tempered. Bad situations don’t make a person good or bad. It shows the person’s ability to deal with the situation.

A person with a lot of positive attributes shows innate qualities of kindness and it shows in his ways and behavior as well. A person is said to be kind if he is sympathizing, understanding and courteous in his ways and mannerisms.

A school teacher who does not have the skills to handle a class of primary school children can often be spotted yelling at the students and annoying himself and the whole ambience around. He would be possessed with poor management skills making him unable to sustain the class in a smooth manner.

The person has no kindness towards his class children, the inability to handle him seems primary and he is irresponsible in his duties.

Let us contrast this with another teacher, who is well trained and has the abilities and experience to handle any given class. He could be seen managing the class so well those students listen to him carefully and they grow fond of him.

Importance of Kindness

Kindness dwells in the heart and is reflected on one’s face. When we see a cute little pup in our neighborhood searching for some food, we sympathize with it. We sympathize with its inability to find food for itself. We feel bad for the poor creature.

After seeing the pup in this state, if we offer some help, we go to exhibit kindness towards it. If we stop at just feeling bad for the poor creature, then we offer our share of sympathies, kindness does not exist there.

Beauty of Kindness

Kindness comes out of love, pure and genuine concerns. When we see a long waiting queue on the road where plenty of vehicles have lined up in the midst of slow moving traffic, the first thing that comes to our mind is road rage and unnecessarily we start yelling at fellow riders for no reason at all.

If we have kindness in our hearts and bear the fact that the fellow riders around us are also fellow sufferers in a similar way as us, then our way of looking at the scenario changes.

With kindness, comes a deep understanding in our minds that lets us change the thinking we possess. Instead of yelling at fellow commuters, if we learn to handle the situation, wait till our turn comes and allows us to start moving, then we could be much more at peace with ourselves.

A multi tasking modern day mother can be seen juggling with multiple tasks at the same time. She can be seen managing the house chores, preparing breakfast for her family, packing lunch boxes, waking the kids up and preparing them for their day at school, etc.

Very frequently, she could be seen yelling around at her kids with frustration. All this happens when she tries to do many things at the same time and feels the need of a helping hand to support her. The kids, for no wrong reason of theirs bear the brunt and listen to their mother’s harsh words and rebukes.

If the same mother showed a little kindness towards her children, she could understand enough to realize the children at young age hardly understand their responsibilities. Hence, kindness comes into picture, when situations are handled with ease, with good thinking and a positive attitude.

Kindness in Different Forms

We should have compassion and kindness towards other fellow human beings, towards Mother Nature, towards pets, towards other creatures in our environment. Let us go through how we can show kindness towards Mother Nature.

The world is increasingly becoming selfish because it wants to convert forest lands that are filled with greenery into commercial buildings which are profitable in lucrative in terms of the money they earn from there. But the damage it causes to the land beneath and the destruction of the whole environment is a big intangible thing.

The destruction caused is beyond measurable terms. Let us show some kindness to Mother Nature which has offered us so much to lead a good life. It has given us sunshine, fruits and vegetables to eat, a place to live, air to breathe, water to survive, etc.

Without these essentials, we cannot even think of leading a good life. So let’s be regardful of these vital essentials that we have received from mother earth and be kind in our ways when wit our surroundings. Let’s not cut down trees to make way for big complexes, let’s allow them to survive in their own way to preserve greenery around.

We can see so many street dogs lying on the streets, totally abandoned. It’s none of their fault that they are in the place where they are often seen. We as humans can show some kindness to them and make arrangements for their rehabilitation.

They cannot speak of their needs and wants. We as humans can be a little compassionate and find them a shelter house where they will be taken care of and given proper food and water at regular time intervals. We can see many such domestic animals lying wounded on streets waiting for somebody to care for them.

We can see dogs having wounded legs just because somebody had fun in pelting stones at them. We cannot imagine the pain they undergo when somebody hits them a stone.

They cannot express their pain in words. It’s only though a painful sight that humans can understand that something is wrong with them. We as humans can show some compassion and care towards such creatures and at least arrange for their treatment and for a proper shelter.

Kind words, filled with care and compassion can turn even a stone hearted man into a beautiful human being. Pain, sorrows, bad moments are there in everybody’s lives. But a few kind words of care and concern can go a long way in creating a big difference in one’s life and bringing a broad smile on their faces.

The next important thing to talk about in kindness is the most important thing, which many fail to bring about. That is the care and kind attention we give to elders and our parents. Parents bring up their children with lots of love, affection and care. They see to it that their children are the best in the world.

As they start ageing, their kids become powerful and wear their parent’s shoes. When it is their turn to take care of their own parents or grandparents, the current generation could be seen stepping back from their responsibilities. They can often be seen ignoring their parents or elders in the family.

The family that took care of them when they were little toddler and served them, every happiness they wished for. The world isn’t too kind today. But we can all pledge and change the situation for the better. We should have lots of love, compassion and respect for the elders.

They should be treated with kind words. They have a world full of experiences behind them and whenever they advise us, they share this big bounty of experienced knowledge with us.

Kindness: A Lesson Plan

Classroom activities and resources for developing a vital character trait.

Young girl lying down, smiling, in the grass with heart-shaped globe above her head.

National Random Acts of Kindness Day, February 17, is a day when acts of kindness are encouraged and celebrated by people and organizations throughout this country. February is also the month when many celebrate Valentine’s Day—a day devoted to love. Young students pass out small greeting cards bought in bulk to all their classmates, and older students have “Heartgrams” delivered to each other during the class period before lunch time.

If you’re a teacher (or think back to your K–12 school days), what feelings does this day invoke? There are lots of hugs, smiles, and laughter (and candy), and more importantly, feelings of being cared for, seen, cherished, liked, admired, and even loved. Aren’t these emotions we’d like to foster everyday?

So why not celebrate and practice kindness intentionally in our classrooms and schools more routinely? Research tells us there are three domains of learning: cognitive (thinking), motor (physical), and affective (emotional/feeling). And as the Greek philosopher Aristotle supposedly said, “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.”

Kick-Start Kindness: Activities

1. Good Things  This is an activity that takes less than five minutes but is a surefire way to set a positive and caring tone for the class period or day. Ask each student to respond to their neighbor using one of these talking stems: “One good thing in my life is. . . .” or "Something good that happened is . . .” Tell the students that their thing can be big or small; for example, last night they had pizza for dinner, or someone got a pet turtle, or just passed their driver’s test. Once they have shared with an elbow partner, ask for volunteers to share their own or their neighbor’s good thing. This is an opportunity for students to share their lives and also be celebrated and affirmed by their teacher and classmates.

2. The Write Around  This writing activity gives students a chance to silently appreciate one another while building writing fluency. Give them each a handout that has several sentences starters on it, with space for writing after each one:

  • One idea I’ve gotten from you is . . .
  • I really like your personality because . . .
  • I know I can count on you when . . .
  • I really appreciate when you . . .
  • Some adjectives that describe you are . . .
  • I am impressed by the way you . . .
  • I look forward to seeing you because . . .

Each student writes their name at the top of their paper, and you collect them. Randomly pass them out. Ask for silence and then tell the students they have three minutes to write something about that person. They can respond to more than one sentence starter if they like, and multiple students can respond to one. After a few minutes, ask them to pass the papers to another person. Do several rounds. Collect them and pass them back to the owners. You won’t believe the smiles you will see.

3. Shout-outs  Model this one for students for the first few weeks (perhaps it will take a month or two, if it’s a tough or shy crowd): “I really like how . . .,” “I noticed that . . .,” or “I’d like to give a shout-out to . . . for bringing her best to her group today!” Eventually, in their own ways, they will begin to echo your sentiments to each other, and this will become a class routine. Be sure to make time for it. You can fit a lot of shout-outs in the last three to five minutes of class.

4. Appreciation Box  For students less inclined to share with the whole group, create a box and place it in the back of the room with small slips of paper or sticky notes. The teacher and the students can leave appreciations for classmates in the box. This may take some modeling and encouragement. Every few days, take out the appreciations and read them aloud. I saw a fourth-grade teacher design a treasure chest appreciation box, and she and her teaching assistant would put slips of paper in it all day and then read them aloud five minutes before the bell rang for the kids to go home. Soon the students started writing appreciation notes for each other. It was transformative, she told me: “We became a family.”

5. Temperature Check Begin class by asking your students this simple question: “How are you feeling today?” This emotional check-in is an acknowledgment that we are all human and that we have feelings and emotions that sometimes change day to day. Students can turn and talk, or share with the whole class. As their teacher, this also alerts you to any fragile feelings or moods in the room to be mindful of, or to possibly meet with the students about privately after class.

For students, building on their vocabulary of words to express emotions and feelings addresses the importance of affective learning. You can help give your students richer vocabulary by providing this list of words for feelings . Compiled by the Center of Nonviolent Communication, it can be shared with secondary students; for younger students, provide a shorter, simpler word list.

6. Buddy Up  Depending on the age of students you teach, you (and your students) can create a clever, appropriate title for this activity (for example: wingman/woman, copilot, collaborator, colleague). Partner them up; they are in charge of helping each other. Miss a day of class? She will get handouts and information for you. Don’t understand something? Consult first with your pal, then the teacher. This one-on-one collaboration and support builds community in the classroom and sends a message that students are trusted and capable of assisting each other. Let students self-select sometimes; at other times, you select the partners. Change partners every week, every other week, or once a month—you decide.

7. Community Circle  Kindness shines through when we really listen to each other. Remove the barrier of desks or tables and sit in a circle as a whole class. Only one person may speak at a time; the rest listen. Even though you facilitate, posing a question or topic for the students to speak about, it’s important that you be in the circle too—not as leader, but as a member.

Choose a talking piece (stuffed animal, mini globe, or basketball, for example) and make one pass around the circle with everyone first checking in. (See these guidelines from Center for Restorative Process .) The only voice is the person holding the object. Consider including a community circle in the agenda when something happens inside or outside of the classroom (a traumatic event in the neighborhood or world, or an argument that involved multiple students, or theft in the classroom). Making space and time for a circle like this that speaks to social-emotional learning—where students share their thoughts and feelings, and can relate with one another—will positively effect academic learning as well.

Resources on Kindness

The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation has the slogan “Help Turn the World Kind”—could you adopt and adapt a version of this in your classroom? Perhaps students can make a collective sign that says something like, “Compassionate Classroom Alert!” (This sounds like a great lunchtime poster-making party to me.)

The foundation offers dozens of K–12 lessons through the website. Thematic units feature “developmentally appropriate, standards-aligned lessons that teach kids important social and emotional skills (SEL).” These multiple-lesson units offer such themes as “How Can I Be Kind?” (grade 2), “Taking Care of Ourselves” (grade 5), and “Understanding Each Other” (grade 7).

In the blog post “ Resources for Creating a Radically Compassionate Classroom ,” I share resources for classroom walls and strategies and activities that promote a compassionate learning space, one that supports inclusion of all students.

According to the research of Adena Klem and James Connell, students who perceive a teacher as caring have higher attendance and better grades and are more engaged in the classroom and at school. Think about this research. If we grow that caring community beyond the teacher, extending it to how classmates interact with each other, how might that further transform and evolve the learning environments where we teach?

Key Points To Note: Essay On Kindness For Lower Primary Classes

10 lines on kindness for kids, a paragraph on kindness, short essay on ‘importance of kindness’ in english for children, long essay on kindness for kids, what will your child learn from the kindness essay.

Children should possess the virtue of kindness from an early age. Therefore, an essay on kindness in English for classes 1, 2 & 3 is prominent in their coursework. Parents and teachers strive to teach young kids the value of being kind in numerous ways. Kind kids are polite, considerate, compassionate, generous, and loved by all. They make people around them happy through their actions, thoughts, and words. Kind people are admired and appreciated by everyone around them. However, not all kids have this virtue in-built in them. For most, it needs to be taught and shown for understanding. So, an essay on kindness is the best way to teach kids the importance of this great asset of life.

Lower primary kids may wonder how to write an essay on kindness. Here are some key points they can remember when writing an essay on kindness to help them:

  • Explain what kindness is.
  • Write why it is important to be kind.
  • Write a few points on how to be kind.
  • Briefly conclude with why everyone should be kind.

Essay writing on subjects like kindness enhances the understanding of the topic and teaches sentence structure formation to kids. Here are a few lines on kindness for kids. This will be helpful for class 1 and 2 kids to write an essay on kindness:

  • Kindness is an admirable virtue.
  • To be kind, we must be good to people around us.
  • Very few people have this quality, but it can be attained with the right guidance.
  • Kind people are caring, polite, and generous.
  • They always help other people with their problems.
  • Kind people offer support and are always there for each other.
  • Not only to just other people, but we should also be kind to animals.
  • Kind people never hurt anyone.
  • To be kind, one needs to be caring and good at heart.
  • Kindness motivates people and makes them happy.

The virtue of kindness can be best taught through an essay to young kids. Writing short paragraphs will also help them in short sentence construction. Here is a short paragraph on kindness for their reference:

Kind people are always thought of as good people. Being kind means a person is caring, polite, and good to people around them. Many people in this world lack this virtue and want to hurt each other. Kindness should be the first base of character building in any person. Kind people don’t hurt others. They understand and value each other’s feelings and emotions. Providing support and helping people in their troubles are some highlights of kind people. One needs to be caring, supportive, compassionate, and helpful to be kind. Kindness makes people happy and the world a better place. Everyone admires compassionate and kind people.

Essay On Kindness (in English) for Classes 1, 2 & 3: 10 Lines, Short & Long Paragraph (1)

Writing a kindness essay for classes 1, 2 and 3 students is a great way to teach them about being kind. Here is a short essay on the importance of kindness for children:

Kindness, in simple words, means to be good and compassionate to people around us. We can be kind by speaking politely, being supportive, helping people, and motivating them. Kind words or actions are enough to make someone happy. When someone goes through a problem, just words of kindness can make them hopeful. No big gesture is required. Kind deeds not only help others but also make us happy. When we help others, care for them or be good to them, we too feel happy. We also feel nice when others talk to us politely or care for us.

This exercise will also help kids’ behavioural development and make them understand the importance of having good conduct in society. Kindness is not just being good to our near ones but also towards plants and animals. Kids learn to be polite, caring, and respectful towards everyone through the kindness essay.

Some FAQs on kindness:

What’s The Difference Between Kind And Nice?

Kids often get confused between being kind and nice. Being kind means being caring, polite, respectful, and compassionate. Whereas being nice means one is polite in their speaking or is pleasing. They may or may not be caring and compassionate.

Kids should be taught to be kind from their early years. Essays on kindness are a great way to teach them the significance of being kind.

What is Presidents Day and how is it celebrated? What to know about the federal holiday

Many will have a day off on monday in honor of presidents day. consumers may take advantage of retail sales that proliferate on the federal holiday, but here's what to know about the history of it..

kindness essay for class 2

Presidents Day is fast approaching, which may signal to many a relaxing three-day weekend and plenty of holiday sales and bargains .

But next to Independence Day, there may not exist another American holiday that is quite so patriotic.

While Presidents Day has come to be a commemoration of all the nation's 46 chief executives, both past and present, it wasn't always so broad . When it first came into existence – long before it was even federally recognized – the holiday was meant to celebrate just one man: George Washington.

How has the day grown from a simple celebration of the birthday of the first president of the United States? And why are we seeing all these ads for car and furniture sales on TV?

Here's what to know about Presidents Day and how it came to be:

When is Presidents Day 2024?

This year, Presidents Day is on Monday, Feb. 19.

The holiday is celebrated on the third Monday of every February because of a bill signed into law in 1968 by President Lyndon B. Johnson. Taking effect three years later, the Uniform Holiday Bill mandated that three holidays – Memorial Day, Presidents Day and Veterans Day – occur on Mondays to prevent midweek shutdowns and add long weekends to the federal calendar, according to Britannica .

Other holidays, including Labor Day and Martin Luther King Jr. Day , were also established to be celebrated on Mondays when they were first observed.

However, Veterans Day was returned to Nov. 11 in 1978 and continues to be commemorated on that day.

What does Presidents Day commemorate?

Presidents Day was initially established in 1879 to celebrate the birthday of the nation's first president, George Washington. In fact, the holiday was simply called Washington's Birthday, which is still how the federal government refers to it, the Department of State explains .

Following the death of the venerated American Revolution leader in 1799, Feb. 22, widely believed to be Washington's date of birth , became a perennial day of remembrance, according to History.com .

The day remained an unofficial observance for much of the 1800s until Sen. Stephen Wallace Dorsey of Arkansas proposed that it become a federal holiday. In 1879, President Rutherford B. Hayes signed it into law, according to History.com.

While initially being recognized only in Washington D.C., Washington's Birthday became a nationwide holiday in 1885. The first to celebrate the life of an individual American, Washington's Birthday was at the time one of only five federally-recognized holidays – the others being Christmas, New Year's, Thanksgiving and the Fourth of July.

However, most Americans today likely don't view the federal holiday as a commemoration of just one specific president. Presidents Day has since come to represent a day to recognize and celebrate all of the United States' commanders-in-chief, according to the U.S. Department of State .

When the Uniform Holiday Bill took effect in 1971, a provision was included to combine the celebration of Washington’s birthday with Abraham Lincoln's on Feb. 12, according to History.com. Because the new annual date always fell between Washington's and Lincoln's birthdays, Americans believed the day was intended to honor both presidents.

Interestingly, advertisers may have played a part in the shift to "Presidents Day."

Many businesses jumped at the opportunity to use the three-day weekend as a means to draw customers with Presidents Day sales and bargain at stores across the country, according to History.com.

How is the holiday celebrated?

Because Presidents Day is a federal holiday , most federal workers will have the day off .

Part of the reason Johnson made the day a uniform holiday was so Americans had a long weekend "to travel farther and see more of this beautiful land of ours," he wrote. As such, places like the Washington Monument in D.C. and Mount Rushmore in South Dakota – which bears the likenesses of Presidents Washington, Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson and Theodore Roosevelt – are bound to attract plenty of tourists.

Similar to Independence Day, the holiday is also viewed as a patriotic celebration . As opposed to July, February might not be the best time for backyard barbecues and fireworks, but reenactments, parades and other ceremonies are sure to take place in cities across the U.S.

Presidential places abound across the U.S.

Opinions on current and recent presidents may leave Americans divided, but we apparently love our leaders of old enough to name a lot of places after them.

In 2023, the U.S. Census Bureau pulled information from its databases showcasing presidential geographic facts about the nation's cities and states.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the census data shows that as of 2020 , the U.S. is home to plenty of cities, counties and towns bearing presidential names. Specifically:

  • 94 places are named "Washington."
  • 72 places are named "Lincoln."
  • 67 places are named for Andrew Jackson, a controversial figure who owned slaves and forced thousands of Native Americans to march along the infamous Trail of Tears.
