Last Few Days Strategy for RBI Grade B Phase 2

How to prepare english for rbi grade b phase 2 2021.

The English language section of RBI Grade B Phase-2  is carrying a weightage of hundred marks for which candidates will be given 90 minutes.  It will be a descriptive type paper comprising of three types of questions:

Comprehension

Precis writing, essay writing.

The candidates need to prepare for these types of questions efficiently to score maximum marks in the English language section as it carries equal weightage as compared to the other two sections. Let us not have a look at the section-wise preparation strategy for the English language of RBI Grade B Phase 2 Exam 2021.

In this section, there will be a passage and candidates need to answer the questions after reading the passage thoroughly. Let us look at some tips that the candidates must follow while attempting the comprehension questions:

  • Do not copy and form the answer from the comprehension. Candidates are advised to frame their answers with grammatically correct sentences which satisfy the need of the question.
  • Do not assume what the correct answer is. If you have any doubt read the comprehension again and try to find the answer.
  • Candidates must read the comprehension first without the intention of answering the question and then read the questions. After reading the questions candidates must read the comprehension again, now with the intention of answering those questions. This trick is very efficient as the answer that the candidates will frame will have higher accuracy than the standard method.
  • Candidates must polish their reading skills by reading daily newspapers, magazines, and their aureoles. Improved reading skills will help the candidates in answering and analyzing the comprehension accurately.

Candidates will be given a topic on which they have to write an essay. Candidates will be judged on their vocabulary, sentence forming, grammatically correct sentences, and overall writing skills. Let us look at some tips that the candidates must follow to prepare for the essay writing:

  • The moment candidates get a look at the topic on which they have to write the essay, candidates must make bullet notes that they will be covering in their entire essay.
  • Introduction : begin the essay with the introduction of that topic: its history, detailed information about the topic, or its definition. The introduction will give and drop a good impact on the reader as it will indicate that you have the required knowledge about the topic.
  • Content: T his means the body of the essay where you will be discussing the detailed information about the topic and explain it A-Z.
  • Conclusion: H ow you end an essay shows the level of your writing skills. Candidates are advised to conclude their essay with suggestions, solutions, or examples to leave a positive impact on the reader.
  • Try to remember some quotes. Opening an essay with a quote will leave a delightful impact and will generate immense interest in the minds of the readers.

Here the candidates have to write a short and crisp summary of a passage that will be given. Now let us look at some basic ways through which candidates can prepare for these types of questions:

  • Read passages from the newspapers, after reading those passages try to summarise it and practice like this twice or thrice a day.
  • Make sure that the summary that you are writing equally covers each topic as compared to the original passage.
  • Make sure that you are not exceeding the word limit mentioned on the question paper.
  • Try to make a rough structure of the passage that will be given. Note down all the points that are covered in the original passage and cover those points shortly and crisply.
  • Make sure that you are adding all the facts and keywords that are mentioned in the original paragraph or comprehension.

Following all the above instructions and preparation strategies/tips candidates can ensure scoring maximum marks in the English section of the RBI Grade B Phase-2 Exam.

Some of the aspects that will assist you in writing a decent precis are discussed below:

Precis Length: Do not write a long precis. In most circumstances, the number of words must be around one-third of the total number of words in the passage or comprehension.

Coherent: The precis must include all important terms with respect to the passage.

Title: The precis must have a title that fits best with the comprehension that is related to.

Precis must be in sync with the comprehension: Make sure that all details in the precis actually belong to the comprehension. Avoid writing anything beyond what is mentioned in the passage.

Precis Writing Tips for RBI Grade B Exam – Do’s & Don’ts

Do’s in Precis Writing

  • To make the precis easier to read, start with the main point of the paragraph.
  • Give the reader a clear notion of what they are about to read.
  • Make a note of all the significant aspects as you read the paragraph and incorporate them in the precis.
  • Follow the primary concept of the passage with the facts/improvement points/methods, etc., that were mentioned in the comprehension.

  • Avoid making assumptions or adding information to the precis based on your own ideas.
  • Do not add your own thoughts or criticism to the comprehension.
  • Abbreviations should be avoided.
  • In the precis, do not include assertions in the question format.
  • Don’t concentrate on any one thing for too long. Keep the information as exact as possible.

Sample Precis for RBI Grade B Exam

Comprehension Passage

Business cycles are dated according to when the direction of economic activity changes. The peak of the cycle refers to the last month before several key economic indicators—such as employment, output, and retail sales— begin to fall. The trough of the cycle refers to the last month before the same economic indicators begin to rise. Because key economic indicators often change direction at slightly different times, the dating of peaks and troughs is necessarily somewhat subjective. The National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) is an independent research institution that dates the peaks and troughs of U.S. business cycles. Recent research has shown that the NBER’s reference dates for the period before World War I are not truly comparable with those for the modern era because they were determined using different methods and data. In many ways, the term “business cycle” is misleading. “Cycle” seems to imply that there is some regularity in the timing and duration of upswings and downswings in economic activity. The combination of expansions and recessions, the ebb and flow of economic activity, is called the business cycle. For describing the swings in economic activity, therefore, many modern economists prefer the term “short-run economic fluctuations” to “business cycle.”

Sample solution for Precis

Business cycles are determined by changes in the direction of economic activity. The peak of the cycle is the last month before numerous major economic indices such as employment, production, and sales begin to decline. The cycle’s trough is the last month before the same economic indicators begin to increase. The business cycle refers to the mix of booms and recessions or the ebb and flow of economic activity.

Precis Writing Tips for RBI Grade B exam

  • While reading the paragraph, underline and highlight the significant terms.

  • The basic concept of the paragraph must be comprehended before summarising it in accordance with the requirements.

  • Always stick to the word limit. If no such restriction is specified, use one-third of the given paragraph.

Précis Writing- A Sample

Original passage, summit spirit: on quad and india’s interests.

The Quad broadens India’s interests on its geopolitical horizons further

The virtual summit that brought together leaders of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, or Quad, last week, contained both broad substance and deep symbolism.

Countering any perception that the Quad is merely a “talk-shop”, the outcomes announced by U.S. President Biden and Prime Ministers Modi, Morrison and Suga include a vaccine initiative and joint working groups to cooperate on critical technology as well as climate change.

The vaccine initiative comes with an ambitious deadline: a billion vaccines by the end of 2022, made in India with U.S. technology, Japanese funding and Australian distribution networks to reach as many Indo-Pacific countries as possible.

The four Quad countries will ensure emissions reduction based on the Paris accord as well as cooperate on technology supply chains, 5G networks, and biotechnology.

Mr. Biden, who hosted the summit, managed some powerful atmospherics, by coordinating a joint statement — and a first — called “The Spirit of the Quad”, and a joint article by the four leaders that committed to an open Indo-Pacific “free from coercion”.

The leaders are expected to meet later this year, at the G-7 summit. For Mr. Biden, the early push for the Quad engagement is part of his promise that “America is back” in terms of global leadership, reaffirming regional alliances, and taking on the growing challenge from China.

For similar reasons, and due to maritime tensions with China, trade and telecommunication issues, Australia and Japan are keen on taking the Quad partnership to deeper levels of cooperation.

For India, the new terms of the Quad will mean more strategic support after a tense year at the LAC, as also a boost for its pharmaceutical prowess, opportunities for technology partnerships, and more avenues for regional cooperation on development projects and financing infrastructure, especially in South Asia, where China has taken the lead.

It would be a mistake, however, to portray the Quad summit as a “throwing down of the gauntlet” to China. The new U.S. government is still exploring its own relationship with China; its first engagement with Beijing’s top diplomats is in Alaska, on Thursday.

For Japan and Australia, China remains the biggest trading partner, a relationship that will only grow once the 15-nation RCEP kicks in.

India, given its own ties with China, sensitivities over ongoing LAC disengagement talks, and its other multilateral commitments at the BRICS and SCO groupings, also displayed caution in the Quad engagement, keeping the conversation focused on what Mr. Modi called making the Quad a “force for global good” rather than pushing plans for a militaristic coalition.

In that sense, the Quad’s new “summit avatar” has given India yet another string to its bow, broadening India’s interests on its geopolitical horizons even further.

Thumpy Progression of the Quad

The Quad’s virtual summit which recently took place had outcomes like vaccine initiative and joint working groups on technology as well as climate change. The vaccine initiative has inputs from U.S., Japan, Australia & India and so is the case with emissions reduction, technology supply chain, 5G & biotechnology. The Quad also coordinated a joint statement and a joint article by the four leaders. US, Australia Japan and India want to take the Quad partnership to the next level to take on the challenges from China. After having witnessed the LAC tension, it would be strategic support for India in a number of avenues in South Asia where China has taken a lead. At the same time, the Quad Summit should not be mistaken as a competition with China; rather all the 4 countries are exploring their own relationship with China.

It must be noted that the original passage is of 465 words (including the title) and the above Précis is of 146 words which is less than one-third of the original passage. This is all we have in this article. Wishing you good luck with your preparation!

MSME is defined as any enterprises engaged in the manufacturing or production, processing or preservation of goods as specified by the act based on their investment in plant and machinery to start business.

In India, MSMEs have been accepted as the engine of economic growth and act as backbone of the national economic structure due to its size and geographical expanse across the country. MSMEs are the second largest employment generating sector and it provides employment to around 120 million persons in India. It provides opportunity for budding entrepreneurs to build creative products boosting business competition and fuels growth.

Despite the enormous growth potential, the MSME sector is plagued with various challenges. One of the major challenges faced by MSMEs are their age-old inefficient methods of operating business and their inertia to adopt technology. By adopting digital technology, they can increase their productivity and revenue by more than 30% but there are many businesses which doesn't even have computer literacy. Another major challenge faced by this sector is inefficient credit facility from commercial banks and financial institutions, it is partly due to weak credit worthiness. Due to unavailability of credit facility they are bound to obtain credit from the money lenders on a very high rate of interest and are, thus, exploitative in character.

Recently Ministry of Finance announced measures to improve the conditions under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat, there were six announcements including the change in the definition of MSMEs based on Investment. Government has launched improved credit facility including collateral free loans and subordinate debt of Rs. 20,000 crores for stressed MSMEs. These measures will improve the conditions of MSMEs provided that they reach to real beneficiaries.
