Quick Tips: Add favicon and custom Application icon in APEX

Adding favicon for your application

• Create a PNG image – with dimensions 256×256 pixels. You can use Photoshop or any other editing software.

• Go to https://realfavicongenerator.net/ and generate an .ico file. Alternatively, use a tool of your preference and generate .ico files both 32×32 and 16×16 pixels.

• Download the .zip archive generated to your local machine.

• Upload the files from the archive into your Application Static Files folder (inside a favicon subfolder)
• Add the following to your Shared Components > User Inteface section , User Interface Attributes > Favicon > Favicon HTML

*Note that the filenames should match the ones you have uploaded into Application Static Files earlier.

Adding custom application icon in APEX Builder

• Upload your original PNG image (256×256) into the root of your Static Application Files . In my case – apex_favicon_256.png
• Go to Edit Application Properties . Locate Application Icon > Icon File Name and replace the default value with apex_favicon_256.png

If you followed the steps, you will already have a bonus icon for your device – being Android or iPhone. To get it on your Home screen, do the following:

• Open your APEX application in Safari browser of your iPhone
• Tap on the Download icon

• Scroll down and tap on Add to Home Screen button

• Tap on ‘Add’ button

• Enjoy your new Home Screen shortcut

Apex Legends: Shockwave Arrives August 6 – With New Map E-District, Automatic Respawns, Loot Refreshes and More

• New map: E-District brings vibrant cyberpunk flair and densely populated points of interest to encourage movement and close-range fights
• Akimbo is coming! Legends can dual-wield the P2020 and Mozambique weapons
• Gameplay changes include new Revival system, new gold and mythic bins, tweaks to ammo and magazine stack sizes and more

Season 22 of Apex Legends is almost here, and promises a ‘shocking’ shake-up to the high-octane battle royale. Numerous tweaks to gameplay are coming across all modes, and updates to playable Legends and more await on the horizon. But first, let’s get a look at the sixth map coming to Apex Legends in Shockwave: E-District. 

During a recent Shockwave preview event, Apex Legends World Director Ed Agostini described E-District as an “urban playground that’s a culmination of five years of learning,” and shared that it’s the most densely populated map to date. The design of E-District places emphasis on freedom of movement, packed with multi-layered architecture, and the introduction of new Gravity Cannons, which can launch Legends high up into the air or across large distances.

Lots of points of interest are designed with close quarters combat in mind, including the tight, winding alleys of Street Market, the ultra-vibrant Neon Square, inspired by Shibuya Center in Tokyo, and the Neon Oval Raceway, an old racetrack converted into makeshift residential spots perfect for chaotic indoor shootouts. The entire map is coated in gorgeous post-Cyberpunk inspiration, and it’ll be in heavy rotation for the first split of the season so players can explore it fully.

New Revival Feature and Battle Sense Rollout 

Josh Mohan, Associate Design Director on Apex Legends , shares Respawn has also been assessing changes that will benefit newcomers and more casual players to foster an environment where everyone can learn and have fun regardless of their skill level. One major change promising to change-up the meta is the Revival feature, which provides another way for defeated players to get back into the match with ease. 

When a player is eliminated, a respawn timer will kick in, and when the timer hits zero, that teammate will automatically respawn near their surviving teammates without the need for a Respawn Beacon. Surviving squad mates can even speed up the return of their fallen Legends by getting knocks and kills for an even faster return to the fray. 

Mohan shares that the addition of Revival is to “shake-up the core combat loop of Apex,” and create more opportunities for players to get into and stay in the action. It also encourages more players to take risks which results in more fun, dynamic situations during matches. 

One other change will see the Battle Sense feature, initially created to help players navigate the battlefield in solo mode, roll into the team-based battle royale mode in Shockwave. The benefits of this mode include visibility of enemy health bars, as well as highlighted attackers at close range. 

Bin Day 

Shockwave will also introduce new ways for Legends to gather up loot during a match. Mid-way through a game, all open loot bins on the map will close back up and reroll fresh loot for passing players. This not only provides new opportunities to stock up or change items, but also takes away environmental clues that a team has looted the area before you, which is interesting. 

Two brand new bins will also offer opportunities for Legends to grab those high-end loadouts and attachments. A few gold bins, containing better loot and items (including gold attachments) will randomly appear in the place of regular bins, while one mythic bin somewhere on the map is guaranteed to contain Evo for your shield, a gold weapon, or a mythic weapon found in care package drops. Be mindful though, every team can see the location of the mythic bin, which is sure to cause some squabbles over the coveted items inside.

Guns Akimbo

If like me you’re into dual-wielding, you’re going to feel right at home with Shockwave’s new Akimbo update, which allows Legends to carry and fire two P2020 pistols or Mozambique shotguns in combat.

However, wielding two guns won’t mean endless looting to kit them out – the second gun is essentially a mirror of the one in your equipment, including all of its attachments. While in Akimbo, both guns are also fully automatic with improved hip fire for ease in those scrappy close-up fights. 

Light Machine Guns are also receiving a little love this season with the Gun Shield Generator hop-up, which gives you a small shield in your sights. It won’t save you from those aggressive flanks, but will absorb precious damage if you’re being attacked head-on. 

Battle Pass and New Cosmetics

Of course, every season comes equipped with a new Battle Pass full of treats – new Legendary skins for Legends and weapons, as well as Exotic Shards, but Shockwave is making it a little more attainable for players. Battle Passes are now shorter, and you’ll get two throughout Shockwave’s duration – one at the start of the season on August 6 and another at the seasonal split. You’ll also be able to unlock the premium Battle Pass for free, just by completing in-game challenges – so save up those Apex Coins!

Add and update the icon that displays as the Favicon, the PWA icon, the Apple touch icon, and the App Builder icon in Oracle APEX applications.

Application icons are stored in Shared Components , Static Application Files in three sizes, 32x32, 192x192 or 512x512.

You can edit or upload app icons in the following ways:

When Creating a New App - When creating a new application, click Set Icon on the Create an Application page in the Create Application Wizard. See Running the Create Application Wizard .

By Editing User Interface Attributes - By editing the attributes under Icon on the User Interface page. See Managing Icons in User Interface Attributes .

By Editing the Icon in Runtime - In runtime, click Customize , Edit App Icon on the Runtime Developer Toolbar. See Using Edit App Icon on the Runtime Developer Toolbar

By Uploading Icons to Static Application Files - Application icons are stored in Shared Components, Static Application Files in three sizes, 32x32, 192x192 or 512x512.

To control the upload for all icon sizes, upload your icons to the Shared Components, Static Application Files and use the following file paths:

5.10.2 Managing Icons in User Interface Attributes

Edit or upload application icons from the Icon region on the User Interface page.

To manage application icons by editing User Interface attributes:

• On the Workspace home page, click the App Builder icon.

The Application home page appears.

Click Edit Application Definition to the right of the application name.

Click the User Interface tab.

Click Shared Components .

Under User Interface, click User Interface Attributes .

The User Interfaces page appears.

• Find Icon . Existing icons display in a table on the left side of the page.

Click Choose File to navigate to the new icon.

Drag and drop a new file to the region provided.

• Click Close .

Upload an icon . Click the plus (+) sign and navigate to the icon, or drag and drop the icon to the Upload your own icon region.

If you upload a custom icon, it is resized to a number of sizes and will be propagated to the appropriate places at runtime.

Select an icon from the library . Select the icon color and then the icon.

• Click Apply Changes to save your changes.

5.10.3 Using Edit App Icon on the Runtime Developer Toolbar

Edit icons in runtime using the Use Edit App Icon option on on the Runtime Developer toolbar, Customize menu.

To use Edit App Icon:

The Runtime Developer toolbar displays at the bottom of any editable running page.

The Edit Applicatioin Icon dialog appears.

• Drag and drop the file the Upload a new icon region.
• Click the Upload a new icon region and navigate to the file.

When focused on the icon cropper, the following keyboard shortcuts are also available:

Left Arrow - Move the image left

Up Arrow - Move the image up

Right Arrow - Move the image right

Down Arrow - Move the image down

I - Zoom in

O - Zoom out

L - Rotate left

R - Rotate right

Press Shift to move faster.

• To save your changes, click Save .
• To exit the dialog without saving, click Cancel

Displaying icons with data in a column in Oracle APEX Interactive Report (Icon View)

I am trying to create an Interactive Report in an Oracle APEX application. I want to show icons along with the data in a report column.

I succeeded to display the icons, but I want to display these icons in different colors depending on the word.

I found an example of this in the "Universal Theme Sample Application " application that came with Oracle APEX and I applied the same method in my own application.

But in my application all the icons are just black, although in the example application each data is displayed with different color icons.

Can anyone help me with this?

You can add color to your icon by adding color css in the Style attribute of your span like this:

and for the link:

You can also make the icon bigger or smaller by adding in the style the font-size attribute like this: style="color: green; font-size: 15px;"

Edit1: To have different color you have 2 options:

I. Add a new column (icon_color named in my example) in your sql query to bring the color and use it in the HTML Expresion.

HTML Expression: <span class="fa #STATUS_ICON#" style="color: #ICON_COLOR#"></span> #STATUS#

II. Add all the logic inside 1 case in your query like this:

For this option don't forget to go on your column (Status in this case) and set the Escape special characters atribute to NO .
