I am going to focus on general internal presentations you might have to do for a board, such as a bid offer or a market research conclusion, and external presentations you might do, such as a presentation for a group of investors. Whether internal or external, there are some basic guidelines that all presenters should follow to make sure they are prepped and ready to go.

Preparing for your Market Research Presentation:

“Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.” – John Wooden

  • Outline : Create an outline of the things you know you must say during your presentation. When you rehearse beforehand, you can use the outline to make sure you don’t forget anything important.
  • Executive Summary : As with market research reports, your presentation should include an executive summary to explain why the research was done, what was found, what the findings mean, and what management should now do. Within your own company, those who paid for your research are going to be looking for a result. Use this section to focus on your key findings, and don’t explain all the results at once.
  • Visuals : Present graphs or charts with important numbers and findings.   • Objectives – The objective of a market research report is to define the problems, identify key issues, and suggest recommendations for further research. If you answer them successfully, you’re on the right way.
  • Don’t worry about the format – Be creative. The report could be in a form of a PowerPoint presentation, Excel sheet, interactive dashboard or even a video. Use the format that best fits your audience, but make sure to make it easy to read.
  • Include an executive summary, scorecard , or a dashboard – This is really important because time is money, and most people don’t have time to waste. So, how to put everything important in a short role? Address all of the objectives and put them in a graphic dashboard or scorecard. Also, you can write an executive summary template (heart of the report) that can be easily updated and read by managers or CEOs.
  • Use storytelling –  A good story always makes a great point because it’s so memorable. Your research report results can double the effect with a catchy story.
  • Keep it short – It’s not a secret that we are reading so little in the digital era. Use a lot of white space and bullet points. Too much text on a page means less focus for the reader.
  • Be organized – Maintain the order of information. It’s important for the reader to navigate through the report easily. If they want to find some details or specific information it would be great to divide all sections with appropriate references.
  • Methodological information – Methodological details could be boring. Include only the most important details that the reader needs to know to understand the big picture.
  • Use images (or other visualizations) whenever you can – A good picture speaks for 1.000 words! If you can communicate the point visually, don’t hesitate to do it. It would be a lot easier for those who don’t like a lot of text to understand your results. But don’t push them where you can’t.
  • Create readable graphs – The crown of marketing research reports is a comprehensive graph. Make sure to design precise and attractive graphs that will power up and round your story.
  • Use the Appendix  – You can include all secondary information such as methodological details and other miscellaneous data in the Appendix at the end of the report.

Market research reports are all about presenting your data in an easy-to-understand way and making calculated decisions about business ideas. But this is something easier said than done.

Help wanted: Charting the challenge of tight labor markets in advanced economies zooms out to explore the trends, drivers, and implications of tightening labor markets across advanced economies.

We examined changes in aggregate labor supply and labor demand across eight of the largest advanced economies, using data on employment, unemployment, and job openings from 2010 to 2023. We also analyzed labor demand at the sector level in seven of these countries—data for Japan wasn’t available—to understand the impact of labor tightening on different industries.

Notwithstanding some recent softening, we found a long-term trend of labor market tightening in all economies. From 2010 to 2023, vacancies rose in all sectors, with the share of vacancies in healthcare and construction rising the most. Elevated labor market tightness resulted in unrealized output of 0.5 percent to 1.5 percent of GDP across economies in 2023, as businesses shortened hours of operation or turned down orders that they couldn’t fulfill due to a shortage of workers.

To achieve recent levels of economic growth, countries will need to increase productivity or expand labor force participation—and, in some cases, do both. While these overall trends hold across economies, there are important nuances at both the country and sector levels, so we offer a deeper look here.

3Q 2024 Global PV Market Outlook

The global PV industry is expected to install 592 gigawatts of modules this year, up 33% from the boom year of 2023. Low prices for modules are stimulating demand in new markets, but hurting manufacturers, who are competing intensely to maintain market share.

Global PV Market - by the numbers

  • The global PV build forecast is up 1% quarter-on-quarter, largely due to developments in India and Pakistan, with installations slower than previously expected in Japan and South Africa. Most of the established solar markets continue to build steadily.
  • Polysilicon prices have fallen to $4.7/kg. That is below production cost for nearly all manufacturers. Firms are shutting down factories for maintenance, and we have reduced our estimate of 2024 polysilicon production to 1.96 million metric tons – still enough to make 900GW of modules.
  • Module prices have dipped to $0.096 per Watt, the lowest level ever, while polysilicon at $4.7 per kilogram is below production cost. Most solar manufacturers are expected to report losses this year, their convertible bonds are showing signs of weakness, and some will not survive this cycle.
