Preschool Graduation Speech Ideas

It's the moment many teachers dread: Coming up with a preschool graduation speech .... (queue in horror film music here).  

Fears of being unprepared and stammering fill our heads, anxiety may set in and many think,

"I am NOT a public speaker!  I HATE public speaking!  I am a preschool teacher!  I LOVE teaching preschool!"

Take a breath.... really!  Remember your 'Why'...why you are planning preschool graduation ideas in the first place:  It is to celebrate the children and their year!  

Giving a preschool graduation speech is also an opportunity to publicly thank your families for sharing and entrusting their child(ren) with you.  

In addition, it is an opportunity to thank staff such as the director, co-teachers, support staff and volunteers.

As you are thinking of what to say, who to acknowledge and how long to take remember this one, important factor: This is not a keynote speech for college! Let's say it again:  It is a preschool graduation speech!

This is preschool!  Yes, your students may be going off to kindergarten or moving up to Prek, but, it is still preschool!   BE YOURSELF !  

That, after all, is why parents entrusted the children in your program's care to begin with!

Don't put pressure on yourself to be "formal"...instead.... put pressure on yourself to be "you"!  Or, in the words of Dr. Seuss:

“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”

There....feel better?  This is a fun day and your preschool graduation speech ideas should keep that fact in mind! :)

Well, one more fact to keep in mind.  Because this is Preschool Graduation, that means the preschoolers are sitting there......waiting.......excited......nervous......poking their friend beside them!

And, they are.... brace yourself.... I KNOW you've worked all year on this.......but......get ready........

They are NOT LISTENING TO YOU when you give your speech!

Phew, there, I've said it!  So, this speech is not for them--even if you address the children in this preschool graduation speech (And no, I don't mean saying something like "And this year we have ALL learned to LISTEN WHEN SOMEONE ELSE IS TALKING, haven't we Cheryl?")

What I mean is that while you are presenting your speech they sometimes hear.... well, here is my point when it comes to preschoolers and speeches:

You KNOW that is what they are hearing!  When you are giving your preschool graduation speech, be sure to have 1 or 2 adults sitting with the children to redirect them during this time!  That's all I'm saying!  

There are many types of preschool graduation speeches.  You might give an actual speech, read a story or show a DVD of the children!  

As I said earlier, remember to just be you!  

Here are a few ideas for speeches.  

Feel free to use these and modify as you need to for your own program!    

A "Welcoming" Preschool Graduation Speech Idea

Preschool graduation speech idea #1 traditional speech.

This is the typical speech or welcoming speech I give.  It includes a thank you and accolades to staff and introduces the stars:  The Preschoolers!

"Hi everyone!  Thank you so much for coming!  We are SO excited about today, aren't we boys and girls??!!!

Today is a very special day.  Today we celebrate YOUR children's life and times in preschool!  

It's hard for many of you to believe that the time has come for child or children.... your babies, are beginning kindergarten isn't it?

When your children first started preschool-there was much separation anxiety.  The beginning of a new school year is like that for children...and for parents!  

The beginning of the school year was a time of building trust with the children......and with you.  It was a time of building relationships together and creating a team with one shared goal:  Providing your children with what they needed to develop and grow as preschoolers.

That trust was built, relationships and teams create.  We moved through the year--as a team--growing and learning and building a foundation your children will bring with them to Kindergarten.

And now, it is very hard for US to believe your children are leaving us!  You have entrusted the most important thing in your lives to us--your child.  We can't tell you how much we appreciate that trust!  

We thank you for sharing your children with us.  We thank you for allowing us to be part of your family during this time.

And now, it is the end of the year.  It is time for your children to move on and, Guess what?  It is us.... the teachers...who have separation anxiety.  We will miss your children more than you know.  But, we smile through the goodbye tears because we are so grateful to have been part of their lives and your family during this time.

And, I want to thank the teachers today.  Thank you for your dedication to the children and their families. Thank you for your thoughtful planning and time invested in the lives of each and every one of these children! There was a poem written by Forest Witcraft that talks about teachers and it definitely applies to the teachers, support staff and volunteers here today:

One hundred years from now

It won't matter

What kind of car I drove

What kind of house I lived in

How much money I had in the bank

Nor what my cloths looked like

The world may be a little better

Because, I was important

In the life of a child.

And you were.  You were important to each and every one of these children.  Thank you.

And now, the children are very excited to get this party started, right?  Okay, let's hand over the program to the children!"

Here is when your children  might sing their songs or do their play they have been practicing!

Preschool Graduation Speech Idea #2 Laugh and Be All You Can Be

Here is another you can use and modify to meet your program's needs.  It is from StudyMode  

"We are here today for "ABC Preschool's Graduation Ceremony. This is a momentous occasion in the lives of all the children. 

It is also a time to recognize the outstanding work of the staff here and the parents of the students.

Just looking around, the happy smiling faces says so much about the environment here at ABC Preschool. Our children have learned so much. The school places great value on community, learning and fun.

I am proud of the way the children love coming here to school and look forward to what they learn. Seeing the big smiles on their faces in the morning is fantastic. They have learned to love learning and that skill will help them so much as they progress with their education.

Life is not just about learning to read and write. They are important, but just as important is love and friendship. 

This school places great emphasis on being part of the community. This is a lifelong skill which will help all of us flourish. 

It may seem slightly old-fashioned, but a sense of community to me is very important to the future of our nation and our children.

So, thank you to the other teachers here, the love you have for the children shines through in their results. Thank you to all the parents who have willingly given their time volunteering here, and who have raised such wonderful children!

Looking ahead, our children are very well-equipped to take on the next part of their educational lives. They have strong foundations and we feel very confident that we have given the children a great start in life. They have learned many priceless lessons. 

So, children: Take on challenges, be loving, love learning, be part of the community, laugh and be all you can be. 

Thank you."

Preschool Graduation Speech Idea #3: We Give You Child Back Now

This preschool graduation speech is called We Give Your Child Back Now (author unknown)

Dear Parents,

We give you back your child, the same child you confidently entrusted to our care last fall. We give him back pounds heavier, inches taller, months wiser, more responsible, and more mature then he was then.

Although she would have attained her growth despite us, it has been our pleasure and privilege to watch her personality unfold day by day and marvel at this splendid miracle of development.

I give him back reluctantly, for having spent nine months together in the narrow confines of a crowded classroom, we have grown close, have become a part of each other, and we shall always retain a little of each other.

We have lived, loved, laughed, played, studied, learned, and enriched our lives together this year. I wish it could go on indefinitely, but give him back we must. Take care of him, for he is precious.

Remember that we shall always be interested in your child and his destiny, wherever he goes, whatever he does, whoever he becomes. His joys and sorrows we will always be happy to share.

Preschool Graduation Speech Idea #4: Read a Story INSTEAD of A Preschool Graduation Speech!

Yes!  Have the children gather on the floor in front of you, like a final Circle Time or Story Time!  Wear a microphone so the families can hear it as well.

A perennial favorite, Dr. Seuss’s wonderfully wise graduation speech is the perfect send-off for children starting out in the world, be they nursery school, high school, or college grads!

From soaring to high heights and seeing great sights to being left in a Lurch on a prickle-ly perch, Dr. Seuss addresses life’s ups and downs with his trademark humorous verse and illustrations, while encouraging readers to find the success that lies within.

In a starred review, Booklist notes: “Seuss’s message is simple but never sappy: life may be a ‘Great Balancing Act,’ but through it all ‘There’s fun to be done.’”

Preschool Graduation Speech Idea #5: Growing Up

For a few weeks before graduation, talk with your preschoolers about one of their favorite things or memories about preschool!  Write them down.

Examples:  

• Cheryl remembers the day we brought snow inside to play with.
• Joey remembers being Superman with John and how they saved the dolls from the bad guy.
• Give each youngster an opportunity to share one fond memory of this school year and one hope for the coming year. Be sure to write down one of your own as well!

Preschool Graduation Speech #6: Moving On

Here's another story instead of a speech idea!  Again, w ear a microphone so the families can hear it as well.

A House for Hermit Crab

In this adorable story, the young crab is growing up.  It outgrows its home (shell) and moves into another one.  After reading the story, tell the children and families, the children have much in common with the crab:

They are also growing up!  They are moving on.... into a new phase of school--kindergarten (or Prek), though we will remember the fun we had in preschool!

At this point, use the information you gathered over the past few weeks about each child's favorite memory of preschool!  Have each child stand up and share their favorite memory or you can share it for them!

Preschool Graduation Speech Idea #7: Our Year in Review: A DVD Viewing

In lieu of a long preschool graduation speech, show a DVD montauge of the children's year.

This was a hit every single year!  It was started by my mentor, Miss Peggy and I continued the tradition!

Give a short speech, thanking the parents and staff and then show the DVD in lieu of your speech!

Say something like:

"Welcome to your children's preschool graduation ceremony!  We thank you so much for sharing your children with us and entrusting them to us.  They have learned and grown so much during this time!

The children have a few surprises for you!  They want to ___________ (sing a few songs, fingerplays, act out a play---fill in the blank for your program details).  But first, we have a surprise for you!

Rather than tell you what your children have done all year, we want to show you and reminisce with you! Enjoy!"

Invite the children to come sit down near the front so they can see also!

Play the DVD!

Creating the DVD in lieu of a preschool graduation speech for the above idea:

This takes some time but is WORTH it!  If you begin saving digital pictures of the children at the beginning of the year, the process is quicker!  If you are putting it together later in the year, it will just take more time to go through your photos!

Here are the steps.  (numbered)

1. Choose 1 photo of each child where JUST THAT CHILD is in the photo.  Use your software (I use Microsoft Paint or PowerPoint) to place their first name on the photo.

2. Choose 4-5 more pictures of EACH child.  Have 3-4 of these photos showing the child participating in a small or large group activity.  Have 1-2 more individual photos of that child (perhaps of them reading a book, painting, playing outside, etc.).

3. Upload the photos into a DVD maker program.  There is probably one on your computer that you didn't even know about! ;)  I use Windows Live Movie Maker.

4. Be sure the individual children's photos are the first ones in the program!

5. Create an introduction frame in the program such as "ABC Preschool Class of 20XX".

6. Choose 2 songs to play as background and upload them.

We have used 1 song that is sure to make the parents weep.... yes, that IS our goal! And one song that was a favorite in the classroom this year.

Children and adults alike laugh and giggle and LOVE this DVD.

If you are able, make copies for each family as a gift!  

I recently had two different parents message me on the Preschool Plan It Facebook page  (be sure to head over and like that page, by the way!), to tell me they just watched their preschool DVD and were thinking of us (and these children graduated preschool 5 years ago)!

Preschool Graduation Speech Idea #8: Speeches from the Preschoolers!

Preschool Graduation Speeches by...... The Preschoolers?  Why not?!

I have heard of some programs scheduling time for speeches from their preschoolers.  This can be difficult it is a huge, public "TELL" portion of a Show and Tell.  It can be nerve-wracking for them.  But, it can also be fun if brief and a fun question!

You just never know what they will say!  Once idea would be to ask the children what they want to be when they grow up!  Don't wait until graduation day to spring this question on them!  Give them time to think about it.  Ask it a few times in the weeks before graduation.

Here is an example of one that was found on YouTube (not my program) that I think is so adorable!

Ending Your Preschool Graduation Speech

At the end of the program you might give another, VERY BRIEF, closing speech.  Keep it more like an announcement at this point!  The children are excited and want to be with their families now!

"This concludes our Preschool Graduation Ceremony!  Please, please join us for refreshments and hugs in the _________ (list the place).  Thank you again for sharing your children with us!

Preschool Graduation Songs Perfect for End of the Year Slideshows

These preschool graduation songs are just what you’re looking for when making end of the year slideshows. Be sure to save them to play while working on some preschool graduation activities.

Making a few special items for our preschool students at the end of the year is pretty much a tradition. There’s also one big thing we do for the parents, and that’s a slideshow with sweet end of the year songs to go along with pictures of the kiddos from the preschool year.

We also like to put together an individualized DVD slideshow for each child, or a collection of the photo files collected over the year. A  preschool portfolio for each of the kiddos is a well-loved treat for the children and parents, alike.  They really show how much they’ve grown over the year.

At our end of the year “graduation”, we like to include a slideshow of all the pre-k kids throughout the year.  Here’s where the end of the year songs come in.

For all of these slideshows, I always search for songs that are “just right”, sometimes stressing over which songs to include.

Below is a list of songs that I’ve come across that are a great fit for your own preschool graduation songs.  I think these songs are perfect for pre-k and kindergarten graduations, but they’re also suitable for other grades!

I don’t generally use all of these songs on one slideshow.  Rather, they’re a list of possibilities to pick and choose from.

End-of-Year Classroom Gifts

At the close of each year, I like to thank my students for giving me the pleasure of spending time with them, teaching them, and having a ton of fun while doing it. It’s important to note that , myself, learn new things with every set of students that comes through my classroom. So, as a thank you to my students, I like to send them off with a small token of my appreciation – a gift. Often times, I will personalize whatever item I choose with a little phrase or saying related to the item.

Only you know the dynamics of your classroom and students. So, you will know the perfect gift for your students. But here are some of my personal favorites (I may get commissions for purchases made through links in this post):

• Temporary tattoos
• Color-your-own cups
• Crazy straws
• Personalized, beaded keychains or bracelets
• Kids’ sunglasses
• Buckets filled with small trinkets
• Small jars of slime (made in class, or course!)

Remember. An end-of-school year gift is not a necessity. In the past, I have held an additional celebration, outside of their graduation ceremonies, to celebrate my students and all of their accomplishments. I planned an activity that I know they all loved (a water play day!) to show them my appreciation and pride in them.

Finishing another year of preschool, for both student and teacher, is really an accomplishment and should be celebrated as such. So, it really doesn’t matter what you do as long as you celebrate the time you’ve had with your students!

I always use the song, “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts for the part of the slideshow that shows how much they’ve grown since the beginning of the year. The words to that song are just perfect!!

I am so happy I found this site – I always spend HOURS finding the perfect end of the year songs to play. I have used a number of these songs in our end of the year slideshow. I love, love, love the Billy Joel “Let Them Be Little”, especially since my students grow so much (2-3 years old!). Of course my mind is blanking right now on the other songs I have used (that are not on the list) but I know we have used t Best of Friends from Disney Fox and the Hound a song from the Curious George sound track also about friends “On My Way” From Disney’s Brother Bear

We started using “So Long, Farewell” from the Sound of Music. We choreograph it in a way that our PreKs leave their seats, walk forward and wave, then go up on stage for a final goodbye, by the time the music ends. This is a great list!

Thank you for this list! I love all of your choices! I wish I knew how to make a DVD slideshow. I have a macbook pro and I take lots of pics of my students. List Of 150 Slideshow Songs For The End Of The Year Or For Kindergarten Or Preschool Graduation

With just a few weeks left, there is still so much to do, especially if your kiddo’s are graduating, or you want to plug in all of the pictures you’ve taken throughout the months, in a sweet end-of-the-year slideshow.

I think it’s especially heart-warming when little ones sing a few songs and a slideshow is also presented. (I recommend IMovie for this, as it's pretty user friendly.)

I feel this is most effective at the end of the program, with perhaps one quick, happy and uplifting or humorous song that your students sing to complete the show.

You certainly want to end on a joyous and positive note, so mom’s are not overly tearful that their baby is growing up too fast, as some  “graduation” songs, are sure to have parents asking: “Do you have a Kleenex?”

I spent countless hours searching the web, for lists of songs that teachers have shared in chat rooms and on their blogs that they felt were great choices for their graduation programs and end of the year slideshows.

I also included several different singers for a few of the same songs.  I love Judy Garland's original Over The Rainbow , but my personal favorite is IZ rendition singing it with his ukulele.

I also spent several hours on YouTube looking for memorable performances from children singing a variety of songs at their graduations, and included the links so you can get the words.

I hope this makes your May a bit less hectic for you. Remember to relax and enjoy the day, it really does zoom by!

On a less crazy note, I also discovered that many teachers simply had their students sing a few of the songs they sung everyday, as a sort of “Welcome To Our World ” this is what we do every day idea.

Several commented that parents really enjoyed this, and they didn’t have to teach their little ones a bunch of new songs for one day. 

Others chose to have students sing a patriotic song that they already knew from a Constitution Day activity or could easily teach them.

What is a Graduation Speech?

A graduation speech is a speech given at a graduation ceremony. It is often given by a notable guest speaker or a member of the graduating class.

The purpose of a graduation speech is to inspire the graduates as they move on to the next phase of their lives.

If a member of the graduating class is the one giving the graduation speech, they may reflect on the following three things:

• accomplishments of the class,
• the challenges they have faced,
• and the lessons they have learned.

A graduation speech may also touch on the importance of education and the value of hard work. The speaker may also remind the graduates that they have the potential to make a positive impact in the world.

A graduation ceremony is not complete without a graduation speech. It is a very important part of the ceremony as it provides a sense of closure for the graduating class. More so, it sets the tone for the future.

Therefore, a graduation speech should be uplifting, inspiring and thought-provoking. And should leave the graduates with a sense of hope and a renewed sense of purpose as they embark on their next journey.

Types of Graduation Speech

Depending on the needs and demands of the ceremony, there are several types of graduation speeches that can be given. They include:

• Inspirational speeches
• Commencement speeches
• Farewell speeches
• Thank you speeches
• Reflective speeches
• Humorous speeches
• Valedictorian speeches

Inspirational speeches aim to motivate the graduating class to pursue their dreams and achieve their goals.

Commencement speeches are formal speeches that are usually given by a prominent figure or guest speaker at a graduation ceremony.

Farewell speeches are typically given by a member of the graduating class who are leaving the school.

Thank you speeches aim at expressing gratitude to parents, teachers and others who have supported the graduating class throughout their academic journey.

Reflective speeches encourage graduates to reflect on their experiences and lessons learned during their time in school.

Humorous speeches aim to lighten the mood and inject some humor into the graduation ceremony.

Valedictorian speeches are given by the highest-ranking student in the graduating class. In the speech, they highlight their accomplishments and share words of wisdom with their classmates.

How to Write a Graduation Speech

It’s a great honor to be chosen to give a graduation speech, but it is also be a very daunting task.

This section will guide you on how to come up with a good graduation speech that would make a lasting impression on your audience.

Here’s how to write a good graduation speech:

Start with a strong opening

Begin your speech with a captivating opening that catches your audience’s attention. You can start with a quote or a personal anecdote. Otherwise, you may use a humorous story that relates to the occasion.

Reflect on the past

Take some time to reflect on your experiences as a student in the school. Highlight some of the challenges and lessons you have learned over the years. Also acknowledge and thank the people who have helped you along the way, such as teachers, family and friends.

This is very important and would highly enrich your speech while reassuring the people that you do not take their contributions for granted.

Offer advice

You must realize that graduation is a time of transition. And at such a time, your fellow graduates are likely feeling a mix of excitement and uncertainty about the future. So you need to offer some words of wisdom and encouragement to help them navigate the next phase of their lives.

You can share your own personal experiences and what has worked for you.

Keep it concise

Remember that you will be speaking in front of a large audience and you may not have their attention for too long. So it’s important to keep your speech concise and to the point. Stick to the main points and avoid repetitions or going off on tangents.

End on a high note

Just like you started your speech with a strong opening, you need to close it speech with a strong and memorable ending. Your speech should end in way that leaves the audience feeling inspired and motivated. You can end with a quote, a call to action or a personal reflection.

Remember to practice your speech several times before the graduation ceremony. This will help you feel more confident and prepared when the time comes to deliver it.

Graduation Speech for Nursery Pupils

A graduation speech for nursery pupils is a speech given by a teacher or school administrator to mark the end of the nursery school year and to congratulate the pupils on their accomplishments.

26 Fun and Memorable End of the School Year Celebration Ideas

The end of the school year is a time that is very busy for most classrooms. Here are some end of the school year project ideas, end of the year gift solutions, celebration tips, and diplomas.

Plus, I’ve found a set of alphabet countdown ideas to help make the end of the school year fun with a different thing to do or incorporate each day.

These end of the year ideas as so creative, I know you’ll just love them. Most are very simple or can be simplified to meet your classroom needs.

End of the School Year Projects

1. Screamin’ Good Year – This tutorial was originally created to show a fun idea for summary writing. I think the large photo piece is so beautiful and would make for an excellent end of year display.

My spin on it is to change their writing portion to a “screamin’ good year.”

Have students write about their favorite classroom theme or trip or summarize their year in school. {Free download}

2. Create a Class Quilt – Here is a beautiful example of how you can create a class piece to bring the entire class together for an end of the school year project.

This quilt was made with handprints in order to fit the alphabet, but you could easily input your own artwork or writing ideas with beautiful borders to tie it all together. What a statement!

3.  “I’m a First Grader” Photo Shoot – Set up a photo area to snap a fun set of end of the school year photos. Have each student hold up a speech bubble that says, “I’m a ___ grader!” to celebrate their moving onto the next grade level.

This is a quick idea that parents are sure to love.

4. End of the Year Election – Get students thinking positively about their classmates by describing them in an end of the year election.

Let them think of the funniest, happiest students and to nominate them for the election.

5. School is Cool – Get students reflecting on their year and have the year in a snapshot piece. This is a craft with a girl and boy template for students to write what they like best about the school year. The sunglasses really make this project a keeper!

6. Hallway Countdown – If you celebrate any type of graduation for your grade level, start a countdown in the hallway.

This idea was designed for kindergarten, but why not host your own mini-graduation ceremony in your classroom with red bulletin board paper as your red carpet to celebrate the end of a hard working year! {Free download}

7. Memory Gift Books – Create a collection of items that our students have made over the length of the school year {get those files cleaned out}.

When you add a poem and a picture of you and your student together you have a very personal, meaningful gift together.

Bind or assemble to make it special and a gift for each student.

8. Memory Books – There are tons of memory books and pieces available to create your own template. During the last weeks of school, making books that are like personal yearbooks is a great plan.

This activity fits well in between the craziness that we all find our selves in the last weeks of school.

9. Bulletin Board Displays – Bring on the end of year cuteness with a sailing inspired bulletin board display. Have your students’ photo displayed along with the title, “Sailing into ___ Grade.”

10. Handprint Poem (Kindergarten) – This cute project will also work for an end of year parent gift or make a great page in a memory book.

Students add their handprints into the empty space on the page or could mount this onto a larger piece of construction paper with handprints beside. {Free download}

11. Teacher Poem – Send your students off with a poem from the teacher to remind them that they are special. Pair this with a picture of you and your students, or a photo with you and each student one on one.

Such a clever idea using probably lots of camping gear you already have in your closet.

18. Photo Slideshow – If you put together a slideshow for your students to show the last days of school, here is a list of music suggestions and titles that might be a great fit.

Also, a great list if you create parent gifts of CD’s filled with photos from the school year.

19. Kindergarten Graduation Event – If you are planning on hosting a kindergarten graduation event, here is a cute craft to create.

Use simple shapes to create graduation kids.

Add a quick little poem or tag to make this a keepsake.

6 End of the Year Celebration Ideas for Kindergarten

When it comes to winding down the school year, there are lots of fun ways to celebrate a year of learning together.

Here are my favorite end of the year celebrations for kindergarten and kindergarten graduation alternatives .

You can make any of these ideas as simple as you want or you can go all out with help from parent volunteers. My style is to go simple.  We didn’t have a “graduation” since not all kinders move onto first grade every year.

I’ll share both my own ideas and end-of-the-year celebrations from other teachers who have done different things.

If you have been teaching for one year or many, I hope this list can give you some ideas to try.

Have a picnic

This idea comes from Rachel and she’s been doing it for years as it has become a school tradition.

Here’s what she shares:

“We start the day with our end of the year “celebration”. We sing 9 songs to the families about things we’ve learned over the year. Then we hand out handprint memory books, completion certificates, attendance, and behavior awards.

Then we walk to the nearby park. They play on the playground until a parent gets back with our pizzas. We also ask all families to bring sides (chips, veggies, fruit, cookies, etc.). We all eat and then let them play a little longer. If it’s super hot we have brought a sprinkler and Popsicles. We also let the kids bring any toys that they, or their parents, are willing to carry or bring to the park.

Every grade in our building takes a day at the end of the year and walks to a local park.”

I love that its low key but includes the families.

And well, pizza any day is my kinda party!

Usually in my school, we did a picnic on the last day of school. Students all got served hot lunch trays that were disposable and we all ate lunch out on blankets and the cafeteria workers brought out the giant trash cans outside. Then they went off to play for recess.

Host a ceremony

Set up a graduation “ceremony” for your students. Okay, so you can picture doing one in the gym with families present, the principal and caps and gowns. But what if that’s not your style?

It certainly wasn’t mine but I did make a red carpet moment for each child in our class.

While my kinders were gone at a special, I’d line up all the chairs in rows and leave a middle aisle. I’d arrange with my principal to come ahead of time.

She and I would simply hand out some little fun certificates to each child as they’d walk down the aisle on red bulletin board paper.

We’d even do the whole handshake thing.

They’d clap (hoot and holler) for each other and there was no need for me to step up to the microphone.

It was totally low key and they still loved it. So did I.

Take a field trip

This is like the picnic idea, but it works with whatever you’ve got in your local area. It was our way of inviting parents to be apart of a special day with us in lieu of anything super formal.

For us, this meant a field trip to the zoo.

We had lead parents in charge of a small group of students (and their accompanying parents) and would gather together for class photos before a picnic lunch and playtime at the park across the street.

Remember how I love finding things worth buying at the Dollar Tree ?

I’d buy (affiliate)  foam visors to create color groups and give each group an animal name.

The visors would match the group parent’s t-shirt color to help keep everyone together.

One year kids wore shirts in their groups’ color. It made for a memorable day!

If you take a zoo field trip too, you may like this 3D zoo animals writing project to use before you go or to wrap up after.

Give a performance

You can put together a collection of songs, poems, or a mixture based on your year together.

You can make it as simple or fancy as you want, invite families, or just a buddy class. Or if your students have a favorite story to retell , perhaps they can perform it.

Wrap up the performance by singing a song together that everyone knows and finish off with punch and cookies.

Memory books and autographs

There are so many fun ways to celebrate together.

If you do memory books , give yourself enough time to pace working on those over the last few days.

Because no kindergarten kiddo really wants to sign their name a bajillion times in one day. Just think how many parents were really regretting making their kid sign Valentines all in one swoop. Not fun.

If you want to collect autographs you can do so with a free autograph booklet  or have everyone sign a beach ball .

Class clean-up day

We had a class clean-up day and it always rocked in my book. After we’d take a field trip to first-grade classrooms (while they were away) during our end-of-the-year A-Z countdown, we’d take time to get our classroom ready for its new occupants.

I’d have a master list (with pictures) of things to get done around the classroom and my kinders would tackle each one. They’d work in pairs or trios and this would include anything that I needed done that kinders could handle.

We’d blow through tons of Clorox wipes, but everything would be sorted, put back in place, torn down, trashed or piled to pass out.

I’d pretty much be left with my own teacher stuff to organize before being able to walk away from the classroom {well, almost}

Later, I’d pass out papers in the smartest way I’ve ever seen using snuggle bags {it totally works!} and we made a big deal out of these.

We had a bare classroom after this, but they were so excited to see it back to what it was like at the beginning of the school year when they first arrived… or something at least close to it. {wink}

They were proud to be moving on.

Let’s wrap it up

Those are my top tips on celebrating your last few days together in kindergarten!

Eys school/nursery plan, eys individual plan..

£58.00 now for one licence which gives you membership for 1 year. Your subscription for the second and subsequent years will be £4.80 per month. Join now before the price increases along with our new benefits.

EYS Large School/Nursery plan

£384 for 12 months membership for up to 5 users, your subscription will auto-renew at £384 per year until cancelled.

EYS Small School/Nursery plan

£160 for 12 months membership for up to 2 users, your subscription will auto-renew at £160 per year until cancelled.

EYS Individual Plan

£118.80 for 12 months membership for one user. Your subscription will auto-renew in the second year on a monthly rate of £9.60 until it is cancelled.

EYS Individual Monthly Plan

£15.56 per month for 12 months for one user. Your subscription is for a minimum of 12 months and after this period it can be cancelled at any time.

Every plan gives access to everything on the website. The price will never increase as long as you have a continuous subscription.
