Doesn’t do you any good for us to run down schools that will be unaffordable or you can’t get in to! Agree with @blossom … we need more info. Univ of Iowa may be a good fit. I agree without some more filters this could be inefficient. Like, I think Brown is sorta an obvious suggestion, but Brown is also incredibly expensive full pay, and extremely selective as well. Chicago would be in a similar category, same deal with HYPS, Columbia, and Penn of course. WashU is a little less reachy, but not much, and also very expensive full pay. Same deal with Emory. Iowa, though, is probably the most obvious suggestion for a not-as-reachy option (although OOS it could still be pricey). Pitt is actually a quite solid choice in the less reachy category, particularly when factoring in the Classics component. 1490 SAT (taking one more time), 3.7 uw gpa (all honors classes, APs, dual enrollment and english teaching internship) in highly selective and very rigorous name brand HS. Very involved student athlete with great ecs, volunteering and leadership. Several writing, academic and sports awards. So I think your college counseling at a HS such as you are describing is likely to be your best resource for advice about which of the more famous/selective colleges that meet your criteria are your best bets. Around here, likely the added value will be concentrated in providing options which are not necessarily the most popular in such high schools but might actually be really good fits for you. To that end, I wonder why you are focused on schools with at least 5000 students. I ask because a lot of Liberal Arts and Sciences Colleges, aka LACs, would likely fit the Creative Writing/Classics combination, with strong school spirit too–and what you are describing in terms of activities may also be a great fit for them. But they will not be that large. So while again we might be able to add some value suggesting some such colleges, of course that only would be helpful if you are interested. And for Classics- interests are primarily traditional Latin/Greek/Literature? Or architecture, archaeology, philosophy? Or doesn’t know yet??? I like this list, because it was created by a literary magazine. It’s only flaw IMO is that Iowa should be higher. @LDM_1 What’s your budget? Based on your GPA and other requirements, I agree with @DramaMama2021 - U Iowa is likely the best fit for you. - Directories
