Case study: victor, case study assignment: victor, shell wright, school of behavioral sciences, liberty university, author note, i have no known conflict of interest to disclose., correspondence concerning this article should be addressed to shell wright, email: swright87@liberty, client concerns, symptoms behaviors stressors, sadness excessive crying parents’s divorce, fatigue thoughts about divorce separation/divorce of, loss of interest in, sports/friends, distance from friends and, wanting family together, hopelessness constantly repeating it’s, hopeless that my family, getting back together, father getting married, difficulty concentrating picking fights with family, and friends, father new marriage, argumentative talking back with anger to, mother and sisters, anger outburst arguing with others mother and sisters due to, change in personality refusal to communicate, with father, father remarriage and, wanting his parents back, in victor case, i would use diagnostic interview for adjustment disorder (diad), assessment is a 29-question assessment to identify adjustment disorder. what make this, assessment the best option for victor behavior is that it determines the severity of the distress, as, well as the degree of functional impairment, both important requirements for adjustment disorder, (o’donnell et. al., 2019). i also chose this assessment because it would help victor to identify, what is causing his behavior and stress this can be helpful with understanding his stressor and, victor, due to his lifestyle change in his family history could have caused a traumatic, event in his life, which could be acute stress disorder (asd). victor does not meet the criteria, for acute stress disorder because he has very few symptoms present for this disorder and other, evaluations need to be done to mark this disorder as accurate. victor is struggling in all areas of, his life right now with his family and friends due to his parents’ separation/divorce. another, dsm-5 condition that present was intermittent explosive disorder because of how he is having, excessive aggressive behavior toward his family and peers at school and other staff members as, developmental theories and/or systemic factors, the client has continued to talk about his feelings in regard to his father and mother’s, divorce that has led to him becoming emotional and having anger outbursts. the client’s, behavior has a lot of factors that play a huge part in his behavior and why he acts toward his, family and friends. divorce is never easy for anyone and for most teens at this age, it is, important to understand his background and what he believes in about family and divorce. tullis, et al. (2021) discovered that emotional and behavioral problems increased post-divorce, their, conclusion being that the post-divorce changes (re-location, estrangement form one parent,, financial troubles) are most impactful than the pre-divorce conflicts., multicultural and /or social justice considerations, victor’s family comes from a different background than others and have different views, on marriages and divorces. battle & smiley (2020) found that family still plays a pivotal role in, the united states. in 2012, 71% of families in the united states resided in traditional family, structures and 62% of latinx households were married couples. this is relevant because this, shows that latinx family members believe in marriage and not divorce and want their families to, stay together and not divorce or separate. victor family believe in church but lately victor has, stopped having faith after his faither got remarried, because he felt that his parents would get, back together as a family., treatment recommendations, key issues for treatment, helping victor by introducing psychoeducation on how to reduce aggressive behavior, toward others, acceptance of divorce and how to cope with it, help victor with his emotions and anger outbursts, recommendations for individual counseling, the recommendations for individual counseling would be finding out what cultural, background victor comes from and how do they feel about counseling in general. other, recommendations would be to help victor overcome his traumatic experiences from his father, and mother divorce. previously in victor’s notes his mother stated that his father disciple his son, differently from her because he doesn’t want victor to feel less than a man for showing, emotions, so victor cry a lot when no one is around and have in picked up aggressive behavior, because he doesn’t know how to express what he is feeling. i would also offer victor some, experience to help control his anger and make talk to him about mediation., specific considerations, victor is a 15 year old male and this stage of life can be very difficult for young boys., victor has a lot on his plate to think about on a daily basis and he can’t seem to understand how, to control all these feelings of disappointment from his parents for divorcing and adding a new, american psychiatric association.
