తమిళ స్టార్ హీరో ధనుష్ ఈ యేడాది ప్రారంభంలో ‘మారన్’ మూవీతో ఫ్యాన్స్ ను తీవ్ర నిరాశకు గురిచేశాడు. ఆ తర్వాత వచ్చిన హాలీవుడ్ మూవీ ‘ది గ్రే మ్యాన్’లో అతనిది గొప్ప ప్రాధాన్యం ఉన్న పాత్రేమీ కాదు. దాంతో దాన్ని చూసిన అభిమానులు కూడా డిజప్పాయింట్ అయ్యారు. అయితే ఆ రెండు సినిమాలు ఓటీటీలో వచ్చాయి. సో… లేటెస్ట్ మూవీ ‘తిరు చిత్రాంబలమ్’ థియేట్రికల్ రిలీజ్ అవుతుందని తెలియగానే ఆనందపడ్డారు. దీన్ని సన్ పిక్చర్స్ సంస్థ ప్రొడ్యూస్ చేయడం, అనిరుధ్ సంగీతాన్ని అందించడంతో వారి అంచనాలు, ఆశలు అంబారాన్ని తాకాయి. ఎలాంటి ప్రచార ఆర్బాటం లేకుండా ఈ సినిమా ‘తిరు’ పేరుతో తెలుగులోనూ డబ్ అయ్యి… గురువారం జనం ముందుకు వచ్చింది.

తిరు ఓ మధ్య తరగతి కుర్రాడు. చిన్నప్పుడే రోడ్ యాక్సిడెంట్ లో అతని తల్లి (రేవతి), చెల్లి చనిపోతారు. తండ్రి (ప్రకాశ్ రాజ్) నిర్లక్ష్యంగా కారు నడపడం వల్లే ఆ యాక్సిడెంట్ జరిగి, వారు చనిపోయారని తిరు నమ్ముతాడు. దాంతో అప్పటి నుండి తండ్రితో మాట్లాడటం మానేస్తాడు. అతని తాత (భారతీరాజా) పేరునే తిరుకు పెడతారు. సో… ఆ ఇంటిలో తిరు, అతని తండ్రి, తాత ఉంటారు. ఆడమనిషి లేని కారణంగా ఆ ఇంటిలో జీవకళ ఉండదు. తిరు డెలివరీ బోయ్ గా పనిచేస్తే, తండ్రి పోలీస్ ఆఫీసర్. తాతయ్యే వాళ్ళిద్దరికీ వండి పెడుతుంటాడు. అలాంటి తిరుకు ఉన్న ఏకైక స్నేహితురాలు శోభన (నిత్యామీనన్). తనకు సంబంధించిన అన్ని విషయాలను ఆమెతోనే షేర్ చేసుకుంటాడు. ఎప్పుడో ఆరో తరగతిలో తను లవ్ చేసిన అనూష (రాశీఖన్నా) చాలా కాలం తర్వాత ఎదురుపడగానే శోభనకే చెబుతాడు. అయితే… ఇంతకాలం తర్వాత కూడా తనది వన్ సైడ్ లవ్ అనే విషయం తిరుకు త్వరగానే అర్థం అవుతుంది. తాడు బొంగరం లేకుండా జీవితాన్ని గడిపేస్తున్న తిరు ఎలా తన లవ్ విషయంలో రియలైజ్ అయ్యాడు? పంతం కొద్ది తండ్రితో మాట్లాడుకుండా ఉండిపోయిన అతను ఏ పరిస్థితుల్లో తిరిగి ఆ బంధాన్ని కలుపుకున్నాడు? తిరు జీవితంలోకి ఎలాంటి నాటకీయ పరిణామాల మధ్య శోభన అడుగు పెట్టిందన్నదే ఈ చిత్ర కథ.

సినిమా క్లయిమాక్స్ లో తిరు తాతయ్య భారతీరాజా ఓ మాట చెబుతాడు. ‘వీళ్ళిద్దరూ ఒకటి అవుతారని నాకు తెలుసు, మీకు తెలుసు. కానీ ఈ పిల్లలకే తెలియలేదు. కింద (పోర్షన్)లో ఉండే అమ్మాయి పైకి రావడానికి ఇంత డ్రామానా!?’ అని. ఈ సినిమా చూసిన తర్వాత ఈ మాటలు నిజమే అనిపిస్తాయి. మన మనసుకు నచ్చిన అమ్మాయిని పక్కనే పెట్టుకుని, ఎక్కడెక్కడో వెతికే వెర్రిబాగుల కుర్రాళ్ళ కథలు ఇప్పటికే బోలెడు వచ్చాయి. ఇదీ ఆ కేటగిరికీ చెందిందే. అందువల్ల సినిమా ప్రారంభం నుండి ముగింపు వరకూ మనకు ఏదీ కొత్తగా అనిపించదు. పోనీ పాటలైనా ఆకట్టుకునేలా ఉన్నాయా అంటే అదీ లేదు! సాదా సీదాగా సినిమా అలా సాగిపోతుంది… అంతే!! క్లయిమాక్స్ సైతం పరమ రొటీన్ గా ఉంది. ఈ మాత్రం కథను నడపడానికి ఇంత డ్రామాను క్రియేట్ చేశారా అనిపిస్తుంది. బట్… ఇంత రొటీన్ కథను కూడా కాస్తంత కూర్చోపెట్టేలా చేసింది ఆర్టిస్టుల పెర్ఫార్మెన్స్!

ధనుష్ కు ఇలాంటి పాత్రలు చేయడం కొత్తేమీ కాదు. జీవితంలో దెబ్బ తిన్న మధ్య తరగతి కుర్రాడిగా ధనుష్ సెటిల్డ్ పెర్ఫార్మెన్స్ ఇచ్చాడు. కానీ అందరి కంటే ఎక్కువ మార్కులు మాత్రం నిత్యా మీనన్ కు పడతాయి. చాలా రోజుల తర్వాత ఆమెకు మంచి పాత్ర లభించింది. దాన్ని సమర్థవంతంగా పోషించింది. రాశీఖన్నా, ప్రియ భవానీ శంకర్ పాత్రలు గెస్ట్ రోల్ నే తలపిస్తాయి. వాళ్ళ ఇమేజ్ కు తగ్గ పాత్రలు కావివి. తిరు తండ్రిగా ప్రకాశ్ రాజ్, తాతగా భారతీరాజా చక్కగా నటించారు. కానీ ప్రకాశ్ రాజ్ పాత్రకు వేరొకరితో డబ్బింగ్ చెప్పించడం ఏ మాత్రం బాలేదు. తమిళంతో పాటు తెలుగులోనూ ఒకేసారి విడుదల చేయాలనే తొందరలో ఇలా చేసి ఉండొచ్చు! తిరు తల్లిగా రేవతి గెస్ట్ అప్పీయరెన్స్ ఇచ్చింది. ఓంప్రకాశ్ కెమెరాపనితనం చెప్పుకోదగ్గది. అనిరుధ్ ట్యూన్స్ కంటే… నేపథ్య సంగీతం బాగుంది. దర్శకుడు మిత్రన్ జవహార్ కు రీమేక్స్ చేయడంలో మంచి అనుభవమే ఉంది. గతంలో ‘ఆడవారి మాటలకు అర్థాలే వేరులే’, ‘ఆర్య’, ‘రెడీ’ వంటి సినిమాలను తమిళంలో రీమేక్ చేశాడు. బట్ తనే స్టోరీ రాసుకుని, డైరెక్షన్ చేయాల్సి వచ్చే సరికీ తడబడ్డాడు. పాతికేళ్ళ క్రితం వచ్చిన సినిమాను ఇప్పుడు మరోసారి చూసిన అనుభూతి ప్రేక్షకులకు కలుగుతుంది తప్పితే… కొత్త చిత్రాన్ని చూసిన భావన ‘తిరు’ కలిగించదు.

క‌రోనా త‌ర్వాత ధ‌నుష్ సినిమాలు ఎక్కువ‌గా ఓటీటీ వేదిక‌ల్లోనే విడుద‌ల‌య్యాయి. దాదాపు ఏడాదిన్న‌ర త‌ర్వాత ఆయన నటించిన ‘తిరు’ థియేట‌ర్ల‌లో విడుద‌లైంది. త‌మిళంలో తెర‌కెక్కిన ‘తిరు చిత్రాంబ‌ళం’కి అనువాదం ఇది. 2019 నుంచే ప్ర‌చారంలో ఉన్న ఈ సినిమా అంచ‌నాల మ‌ధ్య ప్రేక్ష‌కుల ముందుకొచ్చింది.  మ‌రి చిత్రం ఎలా ఉంది? ధనుష్‌ పాత్ర ఏంటి?

క‌థేంటంటే: తిరు ఏకాంబ‌రం అలియాస్ పండు (ధ‌నుష్‌) ఫుడ్ డెలివ‌రీ బాయ్‌. చిన్న‌ప్పుడు హుషారైన‌, తెలివైన కుర్రాడే. కానీ, త‌న జీవితంలో జ‌రిగిన ఓ సంఘ‌ట‌న‌తో మధ్య‌లోనే కాలేజీ మానేస్తాడు. భ‌య‌స్తుడిలా మారిపోతాడు. త‌న తండ్రి (ప్ర‌కాష్‌రాజ్‌), తాత సీనియ‌ర్ పండు (భార‌తీరాజా)తో క‌లిసి జీవిస్తుంటాడు. చిన్న‌ప్ప‌ట్నుంచీ స్నేహితురాలైన శోభ‌న (నిత్య‌మేన‌న్‌) కుటుంబం కూడా అదే  అపార్ట్‌మెంట్‌లో కింద పోర్ష‌న్‌లో ఉంటుంది. ఒక‌రి గురించి ఒక‌రికి బాగా తెలిసిన ఆ ఇద్ద‌రి మ‌ధ్య దాపరికాలంటూ ఏమీ ఉండ‌వు. అనూష (రాశిఖ‌న్నా), రంజ‌ని (ప్రియ భ‌వానీ శంక‌ర్‌)ల‌పై తిరు మ‌న‌సు ప‌డ్డాడ‌ని తెలుసుకున్న శోభ‌న ఆ విష‌యంలో సాయం కూడా చేస్తుంది. మ‌రి తిరు చివ‌రికి ఎవ‌రిని ప్రేమించాడు? అత‌ని జీవితంలో చోటు చేసుకున్న సంఘ‌ట‌న ఏమిటనేది మిగ‌తా క‌థ‌.

ఎలా ఉందంటే: మ‌ధ్య త‌ర‌గ‌తి యువ‌త‌రం జీవితాల్ని ప్ర‌తిబింబిస్తూ సాగే ఓ ప్రేమ‌క‌థ ఇది. ఈ క‌థ‌, నేప‌థ్యం కొత్త‌దేమీ కాదు. కానీ, ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు తెలిసిన ఆ క‌థనే కొత్త‌గా, ఆస‌క్తిక‌రంగా భావోద్వేగాల్ని మేళ‌విస్తూ తీర్చిదిద్దారు.  ప్ర‌థ‌మార్ధం తిరు పాత్ర‌, కుటుంబ నేప‌థ్యం ధ‌నుష్ ఇదివ‌ర‌కు చేసిన ‘ర‌ఘువ‌ర‌న్ బి.టెక్‌’ని గుర్తు చేస్తుంది. ఈ క‌థ‌లో స్నేహం, ప్రేమ వంటి విష‌యాలు ‘నువ్వే కావాలి’ని కూడా పోలి ఉంటాయి. స్నేహితురాలైన శోభ‌న‌తో క‌లిసి చేసే ప్ర‌యాణం... అనూష‌పై ఆక‌ర్ష‌ణ త‌దిత‌ర స‌న్నివేశాలు ఆస‌క్తిని రేకెత్తిస్తాయి. ప‌క్కింటి అబ్బాయి, అమ్మాయి జీవితాల్ని చూస్తున్న అనుభూతి క‌లుగుతుంది. తిరు త‌న తాత సీనియ‌ర్ పండుతో క‌లిసి చేసే హంగామా న‌వ్విస్తుంది. క‌థానాయ‌కుడు త‌న త‌ల్లి గురించి భావోద్వేగానికి గుర‌య్యే స‌న్నివేశాలు ఫ్లాష్ బ్యాక్‌పై ఎప్ప‌టిక‌ప్పుడు ఆస‌క్తిని రేకెత్తిస్తుంటాయి. ఫ్లాష్‌బ్యాక్‌లో ఏముందో అనే ఆత్రుత క‌లుగుతుంది.

అక్క‌డ పెద్ద క‌థేమీ ఉండ‌దు కానీ, అది సినిమాపై చాలా ప్ర‌భావం చూపిస్తుంది. చిన్న చిన్న విష‌యాలు కూడా జీవితంపై ఎంత ప్ర‌భావం చూపిస్తుంటాయో ఆ స‌న్నివేశాల‌తో చెప్పిన తీరు మెప్పిస్తుంది.   ద్వితీయార్ధం సినిమాలో భావోద్వేగాలపై మ‌రింత ప‌ట్టు ప్ర‌ద‌ర్శించాడు ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు. అక్క‌డ తిరు, రంజ‌ని ప్రేమ‌క‌థ కీల‌కం. పల్లెటూరి నేప‌థ్యంలో సాగే ఆ స‌న్నివేశాలు అక్క‌డ‌క్క‌డా న‌వ్విస్తాయి. తిరు, శోభ‌న బంధం నేప‌థ్యంలో వ‌చ్చే స‌న్నివేశాలు ప‌తాక స‌న్నివేశాల్ని ఉత్కంఠ‌గా మార్చేస్తాయి. ఆ స‌న్నివేశాలు ఒక ద‌శ‌లో ‘తొలిప్రేమ‌’ని గుర్తు చేస్తాయి. కానీ, ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు వాటిని సినిమాటిక్‌గా కాకుండా, స‌హ‌జంగా తీర్చిదిద్దారు. ధ‌నుష్‌లాంటి ఓ పెద్ద స్టార్ ఉన్న‌ప్ప‌టికీ ఎలాంటి హీరోయిక్ స‌న్నివేశాలు లేకుండా... కొన్ని జీవితాల్ని ద‌గ్గ‌ర నుంచి చూసిన అనుభూతిని పంచేలా ఈ సినిమాని తీర్చిదిద్దిన విధానం మెప్పిస్తుంది.

ఎవ‌రెలా చేశారంటే: ధ‌నుష్, నిత్య‌మేన‌న్ పాత్ర‌లు సినిమాకి ప్ర‌ధాన‌బ‌లం. వాళ్లిద్ద‌రి మ‌ధ్య స్నేహం,  ఆ నేప‌థ్యంలో పండే వినోదం, భావోద్వేగాలు సినిమాకి కీల‌కం. ఎక్క‌డా నాట‌కీయత‌న క‌నిపించ‌కుండా,  ఆ ఇద్ద‌రూ పాత్ర‌ల్లో ఒదిగిపోయారు. భావోద్వేగాల విష‌యంలోనూ ఇద్ద‌రూ పోటీప‌డిన‌ట్టు అనిపిస్తుంది. ప్ర‌కాష్‌రాజ్ - ధ‌నుష్, భార‌తీరాజా - ధనుష్  మ‌ధ్య స‌న్నివేశాలు కూడా ఆక‌ట్టుకుంటాయి. త‌మ అనుభ‌వాన్నంతా రంగ‌రించి ఈ పాత్ర‌ల్లో ఒదిగిపోయారు భారతీరాజా,  ప్ర‌కాష్‌రాజ్‌. రాశిఖ‌న్నా పాత్ర ప‌రిధి త‌క్కువే. ప్రియ భవానీ శంకర్ పాత్ర కూడా చిన్న‌దే.  సాంకేతికంగా సినిమా ఉన్న‌తంగా ఉంది. అనిరుధ్ సంగీతం చిత్రానికి ప్ర‌ధాన‌బ‌లం. పాట‌లు, నేప‌థ్య సంగీతంపై త‌న‌దైన ముద్ర వేశారు. నిర్మాణం ప‌లు ప‌రిమితుల మ‌ధ్య  సాగిన‌ట్టు అనిపిస్తుంది. ప్ర‌కాష్‌రాజ్‌, నిత్య‌మేన‌న్‌లాంటి న‌టులకి వేరొక‌రితో డ‌బ్బింగ్ చెప్పించ‌డంతో ఆ పాత్రల్లో స‌హ‌జ‌త్వం కోల్పోయిన‌ట్టు అనిపిస్తుంది. ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు ఒక సాధార‌ణ‌మైన క‌థ‌ని ప్రభావవంతగా తీయ‌డంలో స‌ఫ‌లమ‌య్యారు. మాట‌లు బాగున్నాయి.

Tamil star Dhanush’s film, Thiru under the direction of Mithran Jawahar had a simultaneous release in Telugu today. Let’s see how it goes.

The film revolves around the life story of Thiruchitrambalam aka Thiru( Dhanush). His family, the conflict with father( role played by Prakash Raj)? Thiru’s relationship with his childhood friend Shobhana( Nitya Menen), forms the crucial crux of the film.

On-screen performances:

Both Dhanush and Nitya Menen just lived in the given roles. Their performance is a major asset for the film. The chemistry between Dhanush and Nitya Menen is projected in a super manner.

Legendary filmmaker cum actor Bharatiraja perfectly fitted in the grandfather role and his natural acting brings depth to the proceedings. Prakash Raj gets a meaty role and the star actor impresses with his performance.

Raashi Khanna is cute on screen but her role is limited to a few scenes in the first half. Young beauty Priya Bhavani Shankar is okay in her small cameo. Other artists who did supporting roles are okay in their roles.

Off-screen Talents:

Music by Anirudh is a huge plus for this family drama. While the songs are passable, the background works as a magic for the movie and elevates all key episodes.

The cinematography by Om Prakash is apt for the film’s setup. Editing work by Prasanna GK is fine as he kept the runtime within limits.

Production values are okay for this production venture from Sun Pictures.

Post his divorce, Dhanush is in no mood to slow down. He is doing films in multiple languages and is having back to back releases. His latest film, Thiruchitrambalam has been dubbed in Telugu and was released on a silent note. Mithran Jawahar directs this film which also stars Nithya Menon and Raashi Khanna as female leads. Anirudh has scored the music.

Thiru(Dhanush) is a college dropout who works as a delivery boy. His life is complicated as he shares a close bond with his grandfather(Bharatiraja) but hates his dad(Prakash Raj). Thiru’s only go to person is his childhood friend Shobana(Nithya Menen). A simple feud with his father leaves Thiru’s life in a big mess. Upon this, he keeps getting rejected in love by girls played by Raashi Khanna and Priya Bhavani Shankar. How Sbohana changes Thiru’s life and makes things work is the basic plot of the film.

Performances :

When it comes to playing boy next door roles, Dhanush is a pro and gives a settled performance. He goes through a series of emotions and showcases them through his impressive expressions. Prakash Raj as the strict father who later falls ill is very good and adds depth to the proceedings. Legendary director, Bharatiraja plays a key role and is the major asset. The comedy, drama, and emotional outbursts are evoked through him and the veteran completely kills it in his role. His scenes with Dhanush are heartwarming.

Nithya Menon plays the role of a selfless girl and gives the best. She appears mostly in every scene and holds the film until the end. Raashi Khanna does not have much to do but to appear in a few scenes. The film majorly becomes watchable because of the solid performance of the lead cast.

Technicalities :

The film has endearing music by Anirudh. The songs sound superb in Tamil but are lost in translation when it comes to Telugu. The Chennai setup and the middle class ideologies are established properly. The editing has a few lags in the last half an hour as scenes are dragged for no reason. Director Mithran has written the plot and there is nothing novel he is trying to tell about. But the sensibilities he has chosen to evoke drama between the key characters is what makes the difference here. Camerawork is not that great.

Thiru is a family drama that has a very predictable premise. You have seen Dhanush in such a middle class setup in films like Raghuvaran Btech. But the sensibilities are different and so is the conflict in Thiru. Director Mithran sets up the issues between three mature men and tries to evoke conflict between father and son. The grandfather plays the truce and this angle looks quite endearing in the film.

Apart from this, the romantic angle of films like Oh My Friend is also brought in to engage the audience through Nithya Menon’s character. But the best part is that the romance is not forced on the audience. The hero falls in love with two women at different stages of his life but fails to realize that his real love lies in his close friend played by Nithya Menon. This aspect is nicely established and the director should be appreciated for not creating a rebound for the hero due to the rejections he faces though the film ends on a predictable note.

The father and son drama starts on a very gripping note and is also highlighted during the break point. But once the interval starts, things are diluted and the story shifts to another angle. This aspect of emotional conflict between the father and son should have been elevated more to give the film an edge. The film is predictable and one knows what the climax is going to be all about. But director Mithran takes his own time and gives every character a proper conclusion.

Even though things feel slow, by the end of the film, one surely gets connected to the characters. Finally, Thiru has a familiar premise and predictability. But what makes the difference is the mature star cast which breathe life into the narration. The story will seem similar but the emotions will surely make you shrug of the demerits of the family drama.

Bottom Line – Sensible Family Drama

Thiru Movie Review in Telugu: కోలీవుడ్ హీరో ధనుష్ నటించిన తాజా చిత్రం తిరు. తమిళంలో తిరుచిత్రాంబళం పేరుతో విడుదలైన ఈ సినిమాను తెలుగులో తిరు అనే టైటిల్‌లో విడుదల చేశారు. ఇటీవల కాలంలో ధనుష్ నటించిన అనుకున్న స్థాయిలో ఆకట్టుకోకపోవడంతో ఈ చిత్రంపైనే ఆశలు పెట్టుకున్నాడీ తమిళ హీరో. గతేడాది వచ్చిన కర్ణన్ అతడి చివరి విజయం. అనంతరం వచ్చిన పటాస్, జగమే తంత్రం, ది గ్రే మ్యాన్ లాంటి సినిమాలు పెద్దగా ఆకట్టుకోలేదు. రొమాంటిక్ కామెడీగా తెరకెక్కిన తిరు సక్సెస్ అవుతుందని గట్టిగా నమ్మకం పెట్టుకున్నాడు. తాజాగా ఈ సినిమా ఈ గురువారం నాడు విడుదలైంది. మరి ఈ చిత్రం ఎలా ఉందో ఇప్పుడు చూద్దాం.

తిరు(ధనుష్) ఓ ఫుడ్ డెలివరీ బాయ్ ఓ రొటీన్, బోరింగ్ లైఫ్‌ను లీడ్ చేస్తుంటాడు. ఓ ప్రమాదంలో తన తల్లి, సోదరిని కోల్పోతాడు. దీంతో అతడి తండ్రి(ప్రకాశ్ రాజ్), తాత(భారతీ రాజా)తో కలిసి జీవిస్తుంటాడు. ఈ ముగ్గురూ తరచూ పోట్లాడుకుంటూ ఉంటారు. దీంతో తిరు స్నేహితురాలు శోభన(నిత్యా మీనన్) అతడిని ఓదార్చుతూ, మద్దతుగా ఉంటుంది. వీరిద్దరూ ఎల్లప్పుడు వెన్నుదన్నుగా ఉంటారు. ఇంతలో తన చిన్ననాటి స్నేహితురాలు అనూష(రాశీ ఖన్నా) ప్రేమలో పడతాడు. అయితే ఆమె అతడి ప్రేమ ప్రతిపాదనను తిరస్కరిస్తుంది. ఇదిలా ఉంటే అకస్మాత్తుగా తిరు తండ్రికి గుండె పోటు వస్తుంది. ఈ విషాదాలతో జీవితంలో ఎన్నో సవాళ్లను ఎదుర్కొంటూ ఉంటాడు. ఈ సమయంలో అతడి జీవితంలో కొన్ని మంచి విషయాలు జరగడం ప్రారంభిస్తాయి. అవేంటో తెలియాలంటే మాత్రం సినిమా చూడాల్సిందే.

ఎవరెలా చేశారంటే..

ధనుష్, నిత్యా మీనన్ బంధం ఈ చిత్రంలో హైలెట్. వీరిద్దరూ తమ పాత్రల్లో ఒదిగిపోయారు. వీరు కలిసున్న దాదాపు ప్రతి సన్నివేశం గొప్పగా ఉంటుంది. అమ్మాయి, అబ్బాయి మధ్య స్నేహం ఎందుకు గొప్దో చెప్పడానికి వీరు మంచి ఉదాహరణ. ఈ సినిమా కోసం తన కెరీర్‌లో బెస్ట్ పర్ఫార్మెన్స్ ఇచ్చింది. ధనుష్ ఎంతో నేచురల్‌గా ఉంటాడో.. ఇందులో పాత్రలోనూ అంతే సహజంగా నటిస్తాడు. పేరుకు ముగ్గురు హీరోయిన్లన్న మాటే కానీ.. ప్రియ భావానీ శంకర్‌ పాత్ర నిడివి తక్కువ. ఇందులో ఆమె నటించడానికి పెద్దగా స్కోప్ లేదు. రాశీ ఖన్నా కు ఎక్కువగా ప్రాధాన్యత ఇచ్చారు. అయితే వీరిద్దరూ తిరు జీవితంలో ముఖ్యమైన పాత్ర పోషిస్తారు. ప్రకాశ్ రాజ్ తనకు నప్పిన తండ్రి పాత్రలో అదరగొట్టారు. అలాగే తాత పాత్రను పోషించిన భారతీ రాజా కూడా ఆకట్టుకున్నారు. తాత, మనవడి మధ్య వచ్చే సన్నివేశాలు ప్రేక్షకులను ఆకట్టుకుంటాయి.

ఎలా ఉందంటే..

ఫస్టాఫ్‌తో పోల్చితే సెకండాఫ్ చాలా బాగా చిత్రీకరించారు. తిరు, శోభన మధ్య స్టోరీని వినోదాత్మకంగా తీసుకెళ్లడంలో దర్శకుడు సక్సెస్ అయ్యాడు. వీరి మధ్య వచ్చే సన్నివేశాలు చాలా బాగుంటాయి. కథను కూడా దర్శకుడు అందంగా రాసుకున్నాడు. భావోద్వేగాలను బాగా చిత్రీకరించాడు. కథకు తగినట్లుగా కథనం కూడా కొంచెం వేగంగా ఉన్నట్లయితే ఇంకా బాగుండేది. కొన్ని అనవసర సన్నివేశాలను తొలగించి స్క్రీన్ ప్లే వేగం పెంచాల్సింది. అయితే నటీ, నటుల పర్ఫార్మెన్స్ వల్ల ఆ లోటు పెద్దగా కనిపించదు.

సాంకేతికంగా ఎలా ఉందంటే..

ఈ సినిమాకు అనిరుధ్ సంగీతం ప్రధాన బలం. ప్రస్తుతం మంచి ఫామ్‌లో ఈ యువ మ్యూజిక్ డైరెక్టర్ ఈ సినిమాకు అద్భుతంగా అందించారు. బీజీఎం బాగుంటుంది. పాటలు తెలుగు నేటివిటీకి తగినట్లుగా అనిపించవు. డీఓపీ ఓం ప్రకాశ్ పనితనాన్ని మెచ్చుకోవాల్సిందే. మంచి విజువల్స్‌ను అందించారు. నిర్మాణ విలువలు బాగున్నాయి. దర్శకుడు మిత్రన్ జవహర్ దగ్గరకొస్తే మంచి చిత్రాన్ని అందించాడు. అతడి క్యారెక్టరైజేషన్ బాగుంది.

Story Review

The story is all about a food delivery boy Thiru (Dhanush). Thiru stays along with his father, Neelakanthan (Prakash Raj), a police officer, and his grandfather Thiru (Bharatiraja). All of them have a strained relationship due to some incident and Thiru who works as a delivery boy shares all his feelings to his childhood friend and neighbor Shobhana (Nithya Menon). What strained Thiru's relationship with his father and how Anusha (Raashi Khanna) and Ranjani (Priya Bhavani Shankar) are related to him and where his relationship with Sobhana goes ahead forms the crux of the developments.

Artists, Technicians Review

The story of Thiru is all about a middle-class youngster Thiru and Mithran narrated it in such a way that it gives ample scope to elevate the acting talent of Dhanush. To the top of it, he cast Nitya Menen as the friend of Dhanush and this turned out to be a coup. Both of them came with an exceptional performance which makes viewers glued to the screen. Though the film's story is routine, Mithran started the narration in an interesting manner and without treading on the regular family or romantic angles, narrated the entire story through the friendship angle. This captures the imagination of all. Thus viewers feel the entire first half is quite novel and refreshing except for the interval bang. The first half with all the highlights ends on a dim note with the routine interval bang.

However, expectations increase over the second half due to the interesting narration in the first half. But from the start of the second half, the entire story turns routine, and Tamil flavor creeps in decreasing the interest levels. The narration slowly treads towards the climax and here once again, Mithran tried to be different. When Prakash Raj remarks to Nithya Menen that she will not fly to Canada as she leaves for the airport, many expect that to be true. But Mithran ends the film on a different note.

Dhanush is renowned for his natural and realistic performances. He slipped into the role effortlessly and came out with fabulous expressions on the screen. He showed variations as a son who hates his father and then changes his feelings under testing circumstances. He is attracted as a middle-class youngster who is unable to express his love and feels left behind. The way he emoted by expressing his love either for Raashi Khanna or Priya Bhavani Shankar stands out. His dialogue delivery is natural and his body language is realistic.

Nithya Menon complimented Dhanush exceptionally well. It is sad that Nitya Menen is not getting such powerful roles in Telugu. She got excellent scope to perform and as a good friend of Dhanush, she expressed herself and emoted in a beautiful manner. Nitya Menen and Dhanush's chemistry took the film to another level. Prakash Raj as the father of Dhanush came up with a powerful performance. Bharatiraja is good in the role of grandfather. Raashi Khanna and Priya Bhavani Shankar got limited scope to perform. Others performed according to their roles.

Anirudh Ravichander's music is good. Songs are situational and one song is beautifully shot on Dhanush and Nitya Menen. The song's choreography is also beautiful. He gave a natural feel to the proceedings with his background music. Editing of Prasanna could have been better especially in the second half where the pace dipped considerably. Om Prakash's cinematography is captivating with a natural and realistic feel. Production values are good.

Dhanush's Thiru (Thiruchitrambalam) directed by Mithran starts off promising a novel screenplay with interesting narration. Mithran emerged successful for most of the first half with exceptional performances from Dhanush and Nithya Menon. But he loses the plot a little bit in the second half and from then on it turns out to be a routine journey. Mithran's story is quite routine and the direction is ok. The film is saved by the performances of the actors, especially Dhanush and Nitya Menen. Considering all these points, Cinejosh  goes with s a 1.5 rating for Thiru.

Kollywood star Dhanush’s film, Thiruchitrambalam had a simultaneous release in Telugu as Thiru today. Let’s see how it fares.

Story: The film opens with the introduction of Thiru( Dhanush) who leads a painful life due to his father Neelakanta( Prakash Raj). On the other hand, Thiru’s bonding with his childhood friend Shobhana ( Nitya Menen) with be showcased. What is the backstory behind the clash between the father and son? What is the role of Shobhana in Thiru’s life? To know that, you have to catch the film in the theaters near you.

bAs usual, Dhanush impresses with his natural acting in the boy-next-door role. His makeover for the role brings depth to the proceedings. Heroine Nitya Menen is equally good in her role as the hero’s friend. Her scenes with Dhanush add authentic flavour to the film.

Senior Kollywood filmmaker cum actor Bharatiraja gets a purposeful role and he did justice to the given role. Prakash Raj perfectly fitted in the role as a father and delivers nice performance.

Raashi Khanna and Priya Bhavani Shankar are adorable on screen and are okay in their extended cameo roles. Rest of the artists did good job in their padding roles.

Technicalities: The music composed by Anirudh is a major advantage for the film. While the film has situational songs and passable on screen, the soulful background score elevates the mood nicely.

Editing work by Prasanna GK is alright as he kept the runtime within the limits without any unwanted scenes. The cinematography by Om Prakash is fine as he captured the entire middle-class setup nicely.

Production design is good and so is the case with the production values by Sun Pictures banner.

Analysis: Director Mithran R Jawahar’s writing registers. The Telugu version dialogues are enjoyable as well. Mithran’s idea of saying that story of a family that revolves around a grandfather, father and son is good and executed the concept decently. Incorporating the friendship thread between a boy and a girl in the family is not a bad idea but the narrative would have been a bit racy in the second half.

To summerize, Thiru is a watchable life story of a person that has elements like family drama, friendship and love in the narrative. After a good first half, the proceedings in the second half turn predictable at times but still the film has a soul in it.

Verdict: Watchable!

Siva Karthikeyan’s Varun Doctor has been creating a lot of buzz in Tamil circles. The film’s Telugu version is out and let’s see how it is.

Varun (Siva Karthikeyan) is an army doctor by profession. He falls in love with Padmini (Priyanka Arul Mohan) but she rejects Varun seeing his practical nature. The twist in the tale arises when Padmini’s niece gets kidnapped and Varun gets involved in the case. How Varun being a doctor saves the girl and breaks the kidnapper nexus forms the story.

Plus Points :

Siva Karthikeyan is the biggest highlight of the film as he showcases a different side to his personality. He as an army doctor evokes good comedy, drama, and carries the film on his shoulder. Siva’s chemistry with Priyanka is also neat in the film.

The comedy works for the most part and the scenes featuring Yogi Babu and Priyanka’s family are very good. The director Nelson has showcased the thrills in a very different manner.

The film has dark humor and is executed quite well by Nelson. The message showcased regarding women’s safety in the film looks good. Also, the thrills in the pre-climax have been executed well.

Minus Points :

One of the drawbacks of the film is the liberty taken by the director when it comes to the crime showcased featuring women. Though the message shown is good, the incidents that happen in today’s digital world look a bit overboard.

The second half has a few lags here and there. The screenplay is not that effective during this time and makes things boring a bit. Also, the story of girls being kidnapped has been shown in films earlier as well.

Technical Aspects :

Production values of the film are top-notch as the visuals look gripping. Music by Anirudh is okay but as usual, his BGM is riveting. The camerawork is decent but the dubbing could have been better.

Coming to the director Nelson, he has done a passable job with the film. His story idea and the way he has set it also look good. But his screenplay falters a bit in the second half. He makes proceedings a bit routine and ignored the logic. Verdict :

On the whole, Varun Doctor is a kidnapping drama that has decent thrills and comedy. But things get bogged down in the second half and a few logics go for a toss. The Tamil audience might like the film as it suits their sensibilities well. But for the Telugu audience, this film ends as just a passable watch this weekend.

The dynamic duo, Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja and Harish Shankar, have reunited for Mr. Bachchan, which hit theaters today amidst high expectations. Without further ado, dive into our review to see how it fares.

Anand, aka Bachchan (Ravi Teja), is a straight-laced income tax officer suspended due to his unwavering honesty. Upon returning to his hometown, he falls in love with Jikki (Bhagyashree Borse), who soon reciprocates his feelings. Just as things start looking up, Bachchan is reinstated and tasked with raiding the home of a powerful local figure, Mutyam Jaggaiah (Jagapathi Babu). What follows is a daring mission that tests Bachchan’s resolve, revealing unexpected challenges and twists.

Positive Points:

When Mr. Bachchan was announced, many doubted the idea of remaking the hit film Raid. However, Harish Shankar manages to surprise by keeping the essence of the original while tailoring the story to suit Telugu audiences.

Ravi Teja shines in a role that seems custom-made for him. As the determined IT officer and the romantic lead with a deep admiration for legends like Kishore Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan, he delivers a performance full of energy and charm. His on-screen chemistry with Bhagyashree Borse is delightful and adds a refreshing touch to the narrative.

Bhagyashree Borse is a standout in her role, bringing both glamour and emotion to the screen. Her performance is bound to catch the attention of many in Tollywood. Jagapathi Babu, too, leaves an impression, particularly in his intense exchanges with Ravi Teja. The rest of the cast did their part well.

The film’s comedy, led by Satya, hits the mark, and Mickey J Meyer’s soundtrack adds vibrancy, particularly in the lively and massy songs. The use of retro music during romantic scenes offers a nostalgic feel that fans of Amitabh Bachchan and Kishore Kumar will appreciate.

Minus Points:

Harish Shankar successfully blends elements like romance, action, comedy, and punchy dialogues to entertain mass audiences, particularly in the first half. However, the second half loses its way, straying from the main plot and introducing unnecessary comedy that dilutes the film’s impact. The absence of the same level of intensity and mass appeal that was present in the first half is noticeable.

While Bhagyashree Borse excels in her role, she is underutilised in the second half, with limited screen time that doesn’t do justice to her character. Jagapathi Babu’s character, initially portrayed as a formidable antagonist, fades in the second half, losing the impact built up earlier in the film.

The climax, unfortunately, feels outdated and implausible, even within the mass-entertainment genre. A more meaningful approach to the climax fight could have enhanced the film’s appeal.

Technical Aspects:

As a director, Harish Shankar does well in balancing mass elements with comedy and romance in the first half, but the second half’s pacing and coherence could have been stronger. As a writer, he could have focused more on refining the second half, but when it comes to crafting punch dialogues, he excels.

Cinematographer Ayananka Bose captures the film beautifully, especially during the song sequences. Editor Ujwal Kulkarni could have tightened the second half by cutting unnecessary scenes. Mickey J Meyer’s music stands out, offering a mix of energetic tracks that elevate the film. The production values are solid, and the art department’s efforts to create a retro vibe, particularly in the first half, are commendable.

On the whole, Mr. Bachchan has its moments but caters primarily to mass audiences. Ravi Teja and Jagapathi Babu deliver decent performances, and Bhagyashri Bose adds a touch of glamour, but the second half falls short due to unnecessary comedy and pacing issues. If you’re a fan of Raid, the original movie that inspired Mr. Bachchan, it’s best to temper your expectations.
