[KB7267] Configure Presentation mode on client workstations in ESET endpoint products (9.x–10.x)

While in Presentation mode, ESET endpoint products will suppress pop-ups and scheduled ESET security tasks so that important presentations go uninterrupted and CPU usage is minimized. System protection still runs in the background when Presentation mode is enabled but does not demand any user interaction.

ESET Firewall

If ESET Firewall is in Interactive mode and Presentation mode is enabled, you might have trouble connecting to the internet. This can be problematic if you start a program that connects to the internet. Normally, you would be asked to confirm the action (if no communication rules or exceptions have been defined), but user interaction is disabled in Presentation mode. The solution is to define a communication rule for every application that might be in conflict with this behavior or to use a different filtering mode for ESET Firewall.

To configure individual client workstations to automatically enter Presentation mode when an application is running in full-screen mode (for example, your screensaver or internet browser):

Open the main program window of your Windows ESET product .

Press the F5 key to open Advanced setup.

Click Tools  → Presentation mode , click the toggle to enable or disable Presentation mode and then click OK .

• Expand  Settings , click  Tools   →   Presentation mode .
• Click the slider bar next to  Enable Presentation mode when running applications in full-screen mode automatically  to enable or disable the setting.

Important! ERA and endpoint notifications cannot be suppressed

II.  Manage Presentation mode notifications in ERA

• Perform steps 1 – 5 from  Section I above . 
• In the  Presentation mode  section, click the slider bar next to  Disable Presentation mode automatically after  to enable the setting.    
• Type a number in the  Disable after (minutes)  field for how many minutes an endpoint will be allowed to remain in Presentation mode.

These settings will be applied to the client workstations assigned to this policy the next time they check in to ESET Remote Administrator. 

Configure Presentation mode on individual client workstations

To configure individual client workstations to automatically enter Presentation mode when an application is run in full-screen mode (for example, your screensaver or internet browser), follow the steps below:

Open your ESET product.  Open my ESET product .

• Press the  F5  key to open Advanced setup.  
• Click  Tools  → Presentation mode , click the slider bar to enable/disable  Presentation mode  and then click  OK . 

To enable/disable Presentation mode manually

To manually enable Presentation mode, follow the steps below:

Open your ESET product (ESET Endpoint Security, ESET Endpoint Antivirus, ESET File Security for Microsoft Windows, or ESET Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange Server).  Open my ESET product .

• Click  Setup  →  Computer .   
• Click the slider bar to enable/disable  Presentation mode . 

To manually disable Presentation mode, follow the steps below:

• Click the ESET icon next to the system clock and click  Disable Presentation mode , or click  Disable Presentation mode  in the main program window.

1 Although this program contains the word 'Antivirus' in its name, this is strictly for marketing purposes because that's what most people use as a search term. These programs are all actually beter described as anti-malware programs, and detect adware, agents, bootkits, droppers, injectors, password stealers, potentially unsafe applications, potentially unwanted applications, ransomware, rootkits, spyware, trojans, viruses and worms, just to name a few of the things caught by the software. Today, actual computer viruses account for less than 10% of malware detected on a day-to-day basis.

2 Also known as ESET LiveGrid (and previously called ThreatSense.Net), this provides real-time threat telemetry as well as assists in blocking certain kinds of malicious software such as ransomware, dangerous web sites, and so forth.

How to Enable or Disable The Presentation Mode Settings in Windows 11/10

Presentation Mode is a feature in Windows 10 designed to help people carrying their Presentations on their portable devices. The User can specify certain settings like volume to be set, screensaver to be used, desktop background to be in place in Presentation mode and when the Presentations mode is enabled, these changes are done to the OS.

• Only people with Admin rights can enable or disable the Presentation Mode Settings
• This feature is only available in Windows Pro, Enterprise, and Education versions.

In this article, let us see how to enable or disable Presentation Mode Settings in Windows 10 in two different ways.

Method 1: Using Registry Editor

Step 1: Open the Run Dialog using the keys  Windows+R

Step 2: Type  regedit  and hit  Enter

Step 3: In the UAC window that opens asking for permissions, click on  Yes

Registry editing can harm the system even with the slightest mistake. It is advised to take the backup of the registry before proceeding. To take a backup, In the Registry Editor–> Go to  File –> Export –> Save your Backup file .

Step 4: In the Registry Editor window, on the search bar at the top, copy-paste the following location

Step 5: If you cannot see the PresentationSettings folder, create one, right-click on Policies, choose New > Key.

Step 6: Name the folder as PresentationSettings

Step 5: Open the PresentationSettings  folder.

Step 6: On the right-hand side, right-click anywhere on the empty area.

Step 7: ChooseNew > DWORD(32-bit) Value.

Step 8: Name the newly created Key NoPresentationSettings

Step 9: Double-click on the key to change its value.

Step 10: To Turn Off or disable the Presentation mode settings, Set the value to 1 click OK

Step 11: If you want to enable the settings ,  set the value to 0 .

Step 12: Restart the System.

Method 2: Using Group Policy Editor

Step 1: Open the Run Command Window using Windows+R.

Step 2: Type gpedit.msc and hit Enter.

Step 3: In the Local Group Policy Editor window that opens, from the left-hand side, navigate to the following location. Simply double-click on the section to expand the selection.

Step 4: On the right-hand side, double-click Turn off Windows presentation settings.

Step 5: To disable this setting, tick on the Disabled option.

Step 6: To Enable, click on the Enabled option.

Step 7: Finally click on the Apply button, followed by OK.

NOTE: Ensure that this setting is applied. If not,

1. Open Run Dialog using Windows+R

2. Type cmd and hold the keys Ctrl+Shift+Enter to open a command prompt in Admin mode.

3. Type  the below command and hit Enter

Step 8: Restart your System.

The number of servers you can protect with Safe Server is always equal to the number of purchased seats . This means that if you buy ESET Small Business Security for 10 devices, you can protect up to 10 Windows, Android and macOS devices. In addition to this, you can activate Safe Server on up to 10 Windows Server file servers.

How do I cancel my automatic renewal?

Auto-renew is continuous, unless you turn it off after purchase (via your account ). Turning off auto-renew will not cancel your protection – your ESET protection will continue until your expiration date. We will notify you before expiration so that you may renew manually. 

You can cancel automatic renewal at any time.

• Begin by logging into your estore account using your activation key (XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX).
• Proceed to the Subscription Management page, where you may use the “Auto-Renew” slider to cancel the renewal of your subscription.
• Confirm your selection to renew manually.

How do I renew or add additional devices to my subscription?

You can renew, enlarge or upgrade your subscription at any time. 

Start by logging into your account using your activation key (XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX). 

To renew your subscription, select the “Extend” option and adjust the period or number of devices you’d like to cover.

If you want to add additional devices keeping the original expiration date, select “Enlarge” and adjust number of devices you’d like to cover. We’ll match the expiry date and calculate the pro-rated price for your extra devices.

If these options are not present in your account, it’s likely that your subscription has already expired. If this is the case, we recommend purchasing a new subscription.

i disabled it in my era 6.3 server policy, but it style remain activated on the client.

Presentation mode

Presentation mode is a feature for users that demand uninterrupted usage of their software, do not want to be disturbed by the notification windows, and want to minimize CPU usage. Presentation mode can also be used during presentations that cannot be interrupted by activity of ESET Server Security. When enabled, all notification windows are disabled and scheduled tasks are not run. System protection still runs in the background but does not require any user interaction.

Enable Presentation mode when running applications in full-screen mode automatically

Presentation mode is activated automatically whenever you run a full-screen application. With Presentation mode engaged, you will not be able to see notifications or a status change of your ESET Server Security.

Disable Presentation mode automatically after

To define the amount of time in minutes after which Presentation mode will automatically be disabled.
