A fun fact about this invention is that Martin called his rival at Bell Labs, informing him that he was talking on a mobile phone. In 1983, Motorola became the first company to produce the first commercially hand-held cell phone. With Martin’s exceptional research and invention, the former became the Director of Motorola.
