I learned something new today. I thought awaiting carrier assignment meant BMW/Mini were setting up the boat it will go on. I bet some of you did too. Nope! Awaiting carrier assignment means they are deciding which carrier will "carry" the car from the factory to the port. Get it, carry vs ship! Once it is at the port it is assigned a ship. I think the ship is assigned after the car is on it.

Which means after this status, the vessel info should be in the system even the car is still at the port waiting to be loaded onto the vessel. Right?

What are the status codes for those? They don’t seem to match what I’d been given (and which are the same as on the ten-plus year old MA/NAM threads)

Lol mine went from 037 to 150 to 182 just like that and with little info from my MA, so I’m just curious if the codes have changed.

Tommm check again. I was at port since May 17, yesterday showed in port, today now showing in transit! I believe it's heritage leader, not rhea leader.

and Grote, I'll tell you a (longish) story about why I don't buy this is a parts problem . . .

My X4 was built the first week of MY20 production in September 2019 and I scheduled a PCD for a Friday, three weeks later. Late on the Monday before the scheduled PCD, I got a phone call from a person at BMWNA headquarters in Woodcliff Lake, NJ. They told me that there was a stop sale on new X4s due to a problem with a swivel bearing. as they tried to figure out whether the PCD would need to be rescheduled (and they assured me that I'd be reimbursed for any extra costs incurred). The problem turned out to be with a particular batch of bearings, one of which was in my car. Here's the best part of the story . . . in order to keep my PCD date, they put my X4 back on the assembly line and swapped in a bearing that was scheduled to be put into another vehicle.

This happened almost three years ago. I've never told the story here because there were a bunch of us doing PCDs around the same time and we were talking about the stop order on the X3/4 forum. BMWNA was monitoring the forum(!), and they specifically asked me not to post about how they resolved the problem for me because they didn't know if they'd be able to do the same thing for all the effected PCDs!

Back to your current problem . . . I experienced great customer service, great communication and a fix to a "parts problem" within three days. It is simply not feasible to me that BMW in Germany couldn't have found a similar solution for you guys within a week or two. But two months?? I just don't buy it. .. " -->

Ordering 2022 X7 Experience with the Right Dealer

GMED said: What color is this? Love it. Click to expand...
GMED said: Hi guys, great forum. I'm looking at ordering an X7 but was told full MSRP is the best available due to limited supply. I couldn't pull the trigger today without doing some research to see if that's fair. The build date would be expected for October first week with potential expected deliver mid October. My sales person was fantastic.. very patient and knowledgeable. He listened and I'd like to buy from him.. unless the price is not reasonable. Is paying full MSRP what I need to do to order a new 2022 X7 this month? Tx. GP Click to expand...

I am up in Cincinnati. Ordered my X7 on the 14th. My dealership told me they did not have any allocations left for that month (they only get three for the X7). Said it would start in September. Sure enough, it has. Pretty pumped to see it going along. I ordered a 428 convertible back in 2014 and actually followed it on a map across the ocean. Good times.

delm said: Definitely not much discount - if any - to be had. I won't finalize our deal until the car comes in. I'm not expecting much off MSRP, but hoping for something, if just an acknowledgement that this will be my 4th BMW from this dealer. Other than that, there is something going on right now called BMW Accelerate into Autumn. I don't know much about it, or who qualifies for it, but I got a call the other day offering people $1,000 off if they were to come down to the dealership. My order was already in, but I said, "Sure - I'll come down", and I got an email with a redemption code for $1,000 off my order. One of the benefits at my company is participation in BMW's Corporate Sales program, which offers another $750 off, and then having been a member of BMW CCA, I'll be getting a $1,000 rebate from them. So all in, between these small discounts and the rebate, I'm hoping for about $3,750 off of MSRP, which in my case should be the equivalent to about 4% off of MSRP. Normally I'd be expecting to get a minimum of 7% off MSRP, but I'll take it. Hopefully you can find these kinds of discounts/rebates. If you have a trade-in, that's where you can make up some of the difference. Click to expand...

Very frustrated. My X7 has been in the "awaiting carrier assignment" status all week. Guess I have to hope to see it next week. I could drive to Spartanburg from Atlanta to pick it up, myself, in no time. But apparently, they don't even let nearby dealers arrange their own transport for cars.

I visited Tony Clark today to review my trade-in. A 2019 F250 with 46,606 miles, I got a fair deal of 58K. I am happy as I won't have to pay taxes on that portion of the new car. It looks like the car should be arriving on Monday, but Monday is a holiday, so we are keeping our fingers crossed. I am taking it for a trip to Arizona from Miami, Florida, and I think there is no better way to test the packages I selected for that ride. View attachment 1040130 Click to expand...

Well... the 21st has come and gone. Apparently I "might" get it next week. The driver of the truck apparently dropped off mine and some other vehicles at another dealership. They are trying to schedule another truck to pick them up and bring them here... but not sure when that will be. Sigh..... waiting game is killing me.

How long from "ASSIGNED CARRIER" to delivery to you?

  • Add to quote

Mine spent last week in Paint then QA checks, and is now in "AWAITING CARRIER ASSIGNMENT A carrier has been assigned to take care of your BMW." How long would that take average to get to California - and is this really having to be made in Germany and then shipped from there? Im assuming everyones experience is widely different due to carrier logistics these past years being fecked..

bmw x7 awaiting carrier assignment

There’s a well established thread on the matter on this forum. Took 2 months for me from awaiting carrier, but I stayed at that status for about 3 weeks. There are folks on this forum (and folks waiting for a car from the same dealership as me) who have waited much longer.

bmw x7 awaiting carrier assignment

I optimistically think the logjams are breaking. Mine went from out of production to assigned carrier to at the port in the span of four days. Awaiting to see whether it gets on a ship this week or not.

WRT to “THE well established thread”, my point was that the thread contains many folks in the same situation. When I was in the same situation, I obtained some solace from shared misery… no calumny was meant on your searching skills…

bmw x7 awaiting carrier assignment

Mine was built 7/25 and awaited carrier assignment for just over 6 weeks, 2 weeks awaiting on a vessel and as of today on its way to Baltimore. I had one well informed genius say 4-6 weeks is average awaiting carrier and 6-8wks isn't uncommmon.

About the author

James rodgers.

James Rodgers writes books on international affairs, especially armed conflict. His work has a focus on how the stories of those events are told to the world. Much of his writing draws on his own experience reporting from the former Soviet Union and the Middle East as a journalist from the 1990s onwards. During his BBC career (1995-2010), James completed postings in Moscow, Brussels, and Gaza where, from 2002-2004, he was the only international correspondent based in the territory. His numerous other assignments included New York and Washington following the September 11th attacks; reporting from Iraq in 2003 and 2004 during the United States-led invasion; and covering the wars in Chechnya.

James now lectures in International Journalism at City, University of London. He still works as a journalist, too--contributing work to the BBC, NBC Think, Forbes.com, Monocle Radio, and others.

This is a site about the books and other writing by James Rodgers, author of Assignment Moscow: Reporting on Russia From Lenin to Putin ( new edition 2023 ; first published July 2020); Headlines from the Holy Land (2015 and 2017); No Road Home: Fighting for Land and Faith in Gaza (2013); Reporting Conflict (2012). My work looks at how stories of international affairs, especially armed conflict, are told to the world.

I am an author and journalist. During two decades of covering international news, I reported on the end of the Soviet Union; the wars in Chechnya; the coming to power of Vladimir Putin; 9/11; the Israeli-Palestinian conflict; the 2003 war in Iraq; Russia’s war with Georgia in 2008. I completed correspondent postings for the BBC in Moscow, Brussels, and Gaza. I now teach in the Journalism Department at City, University of London.

These are the reviews so far

“Reporting from Russia has never been easy; Rodgers vividly captures the changing fortunes of Moscow correspondents over the past hundred years, as they penetrated the mysteries of life in Russia and brought them to our newspapers and screens. Some were duped, some were fellow-travellers or spies; most battled against censors and blank-faced politicians; all have helped to shape our understanding of the world’s biggest country.” –  Angus Roxburgh, former Moscow correspondent for the BBC, Sunday Times and Economist

“Writing about journalism in Russia since the revolution, James Rodgers rightly emphasises that to understand Russia you have to talk to people of all kinds. But he argues that even correspondents who knew the language and the history found it hard to report dispassionately because of official obstruction and their own emotional involvement.” –  Rodric Braithwaite

“A highly original, engrossing and accessible book, Assignment Moscow stands out among journalistic accounts of Russia for its subtlety, humility and historic scope. It tells the story of British and American journalists who aimed to throw light on Russia from Lenin to Putin, and in the process illuminated the West itself.” –  Arkady Ostrovsky, Author of The Invention of Russia: The Rise of Putin and the age of Fake News, Winner of the 2016 Orwell Prize

“It is hard to believe that in the torrent of books published on Russia each year, that one could come along as original and valuable as Assignment Moscow. One comes to appreciate the service of our reporting men and women in Moscow. For all their fallibilities, without their dedication, we wouldn’t have half the understanding of Russia that we have today, imperfect as it will always be. We therefore owe them – and especially Rodgers as journalist, teacher, analyst and cataloguer – a huge debt.” –  James Nixey, Chatham House

I was also delighted to get this endorsement on Twitter from Peter Frankopan, Professor of Global History at the University of Oxford, and author of The Silk Roads and The New Silk Roads .

Assignment Moscow: Reporting on Russia From Lenin to Putin

Assignment Moscow: Reporting on Russia From Lenin to Putin

Reviewed by maria lipman, by james rodgers.

Rodgers, a British journalist who has worked in Russia at various times since the 1990s, writes about the plight of the English-speaking correspondents who have covered Russia, going all the way back to the Russian Revolution in 1917. That their task was not easy is hardly surprising, yet Rodgers repeatedly emphasizes the difficulties they faced (the word “difficult” is used to describe their job at least two dozen times): strict censorship (foreign journalists were forced to clear their dispatches with Soviet authorities until 1961), travel restrictions, limited access to senior officials and ordinary people alike, and the government’s suspicion that Anglo-American correspondents were spies in disguise. Even Rodgers’s discussion of the American journalist Hedrick Smith—who, despite the restrictions, famously managed to produce exceptionally rich and insightful coverage of the Soviet Union and its people in the 1970s—is reduced to Smith’s reflections on how difficult his work was. Rodgers’s narrative rests on an enormous number of articles in Anglo-American media, books by and about journalists, and his own interviews with many Moscow correspondents. He quotes some of them as saying that journalists knew and understood Russia better than diplomats or policymakers did. This may or may not be true. Unfortunately, Rodgers doesn’t give the diplomats and policymakers a chance to respond.

  1. Awaiting Carrier Assignment

Location: Kirkland, WA. iTrader: ( 0) Awaiting Carrier Assignment. Our X7 finally made it through the entire production line on Saturday! We're so excited to hear it's a real car . That said, it's been stuck in "awaiting carrier assignment" status since Saturday and it's now Wednesday. How long does it usually take after the car finishes ...

  2. Awaiting carrier assignment

Awaiting carrier assignment. My 2021 X5 45e has been in AWAITING CARRIER ASSIGNMENT status since Monday, 10/5. The original scheduled delivery date to my dealership in NY was today. Called bmw genius they said it is out of their hand now, most likely is setting in the processing center waiting for a truck to pick it up.

  11. How long from "awaiting carrier assignment?

My car was also awaiting carrier assignment for several days but in fact it had already been dispatched. This may be the case for your vehicle but it could possibly still be waiting to be assigned to a particular load. Your CA should be able to find out exactly what is the status.

  12. STATUS: Awaiting carrier assignment...But

So, yes, it is trucked the mile or so to the PC. I did mine last summer. The status went straight from Awaiting carrier assignment to At the dealer. I completed my purchase paperwork 8 days before my delivery. Once the CA had entered the status into the system activating my connected services I was able to load the VIN into the My BMW app and ...

  13. Awaiting Carrier Assignment

Awaiting Carrier Assignment. Our X7 finished production last Thursday 2/10. It was supposed to be on the truck on Sunday and delivered by Wednesday 2/16 to the dealership. Nothing from the dealership at this point and website still says awaiting carrier assignment. Genius says wait for Friday to see an update and nothing.

  14. How long from "ASSIGNED CARRIER" to delivery to you?

19 posts · Joined 2022. #6 · Sep 20, 2022. Like.

  15. Awaiting Carrier Assignment? 2023 X1 : r/BMW

Awaiting Carrier Assignment? 2023 X1. I ordered a 2023 X1 and my order has been in "awaiting carrier assignment" for about a week now. How long is it usually in this step? How much longer until my car arrives? I'm so anxious 😩 I'm on the East Coast, USA. I'm been at "at the port" status for a full week.
