Let’s Start A Shoe Brand !!

1-the product plan.

product plan for shoes brand

Starting a shoe brand without a product plan is like building a house without a blueprint. You might be able to get away with it, but the chances of things going wrong are much higher. A product plan outlines everything from the materials you’ll use to the manufacturing process and should serve as a roadmap for your business. Without one, it will be difficult to ensure that your shoes are of the highest quality and meet customer expectations.

The first step in creating a product plan is to determine what kind of shoes you want to sell. Are you going to focus on athletic shoes, dress foot wear, or something else entirely? Once you’ve decided on a niche, you’ll need to research the materials and manufacturing processes that are best suited for that type of shoe.

2-The Manufacturing Plan

Manufacturing Plan for shoe brand

After you’ve designed your shoes and figured out what materials you’ll need, it’s time to start thinking about manufacturing. Unless you’re planning on making your foot wear by hand (which is not recommended for large-scale production), you’ll need to find a factory that can mass-produce your shoes according to your specifications.

There are a few things you’ll need to take into account when choosing a factory, such as production minimums, lead times, and unit costs. You’ll also want to make sure that the factory is reputable and has experience manufacturing the type of shoes you’re selling. Once you’ve found a few options, it’s time to start negotiating!

Remember, the goal is to find a factory that can produce high-quality foot wear at a competitive price. With careful planning and execution, you should be able to find a manufacturing partner that will help your business succeed for years to come.

3-The Sales Plan

Sales Plan to start a shoe brand

Now that you’ve designed and manufactured your shoes, it’s time to start selling! But before you start setting up shop, you’ll need to create a sales plan. This document should outline your sales goals, target markets, pricing strategy, and more. Essentially, it will serve as a roadmap for how you’re going to sell your shoes.

There are a few things you’ll need to take into account when creating your sales plan. First, you’ll need to decide how you’re going to sell your shoes. Are you going to sell them online, through brick-and-mortar stores, or both? You’ll also need to set some sales goals and target a market for your foot wear. Once you’ve done that, you can start thinking about pricing.

4-The Marketing Plan

Last but not least, you’ll need to create a marketing plan. This document should outline your marketing goals, target markets, and marketing strategy. Essentially, it will serve as a roadmap for how you’re going to market your shoes.

There are a few things you’ll need to take into action when creating your marketing plan. First, you’ll need to decide what your marketing goals are. Are you trying to increase brand awareness, drive sales, or both? Once you’ve decided that, you’ll need to target a market for your foot wear.

5-The Distribution Plan

Shoes Distribution Plan

Do some research and think about the best way to get your shoes from the factory to your customers. There are a lot of options, so take your time and choose the one that makes the most sense for your business. Once you’ve figured out how you’re going to distribute your shoes, it’s time to start executing your plans!

6-The Staffing Plan

Staffing Plan for shoe brand

Now that you’ve got a plan in place, it’s time to start staffing your business. Depending on the size and scope of your operation, you may need to hire a few employees or outsource some of the work.

If you’re just starting out, it’s probably best to keep things small and manageable. You can always hire more employees or outsource work as your business grows. The important thing is to start with a solid foundation and build from there.

You’ll need a group of people. Don’t expect to establish your new shoe brand on your own. You will be the brains, force, and visionary behind your new shoe business, but you will require footwear specialists to assist you. Even if you have an amazing new shoe design, you’ll need help with development, manufacturing, sales, and in marketing.

7-The Money Plan

Money Plan to start shoe brand in pakistan

Last but not least, you’ll need to create a financial plan for your business. This document should outline your start-up costs, operating expenses, and revenue streams. Essentially, it will serve as a roadmap for how you’re going to finance your shoes.

There are a few things you’ll need to take into account when creating your financial plan. First, you’ll need to estimate your start-up costs. These costs can include things like the cost of hiring staff, renting a space for your office or store, and purchasing inventory.

You’ll also need to estimate your ongoing operating expenses. These costs can include things like the cost of manufacturing your shoes, the cost of shipping and handling, and the cost of marketing and advertising.

Finally, you’ll need to identify your revenue streams. These are the ways that you’re going to make money from your business. For example, you may sell your foot wear online, through brick-and-mortar stores, or both. You may also generate revenue from things like licensing deals or royalties.

Now that you’ve got a plan in place, it’s time to start executing your plans! Good luck and don’t forget to have fun along the way. Starting your own business , especially shoe line is a big undertaking, but it’s also an incredibly rewarding experience. So go out there and make your dreams come true!

Chapter 13: Promoting Locally Manufactured Shoes in Pakistan

Pakistan’s footwear industry.

According to the Pakistan Business Council , footwear contributes less than one percent to Pakistan’s global exports. Pakistan is the seventh largest consumer of footwear, accounting for 2.2 percent of global consumption but the market is predominated by cheap imported shoes. In 2019 Pakistan showed a growth of 45.9 percent in its footwear exports as compared to the year 2010. However, the export figure remained very small when compared to Pakistan’s total exports of $23.8 billion. Pakistan’s footwear exports mainly comprises leather footwear which represent 84.2 percent of Pakistan’s footwear exports. Despite the potential of exporting locally manufactured footwear made out of traditional textile, Pakistan remains quite behind in the industry.

Pakistan’s footwear exports are highly concentrated and limited to a few countries. In 2019, Pakistan exported more than 69.0 percent of its footwear to Europe. The US has a 9.3 percent share even though it has the greatest export potential.

Global Footwear Industry

According to the Pakistan Business Council , China is the world’s biggest footwear manufacturer and also the largest exporter followed by India, Vietnam and Indonesia. Pakistan’s footwear industry is largely dominated by Thai and Chinese products. Bangladesh and Cambodia are some other players in the market considered as the emerging preferred low-cost manufacturing hubs in Asia.

Locally Manufactured Footwears and the Idea of Chapter 13

Chapter 13 , is a shoe brand which is contributing to local shoes manufacturing in Pakistan. It is promoting locally manufactured shoes & accessories by utilizing the craftsmanship of local artisans. Its founder Qurat Ul Ain Ansari is a contestant of APWE (Accelerator Program for Women Entrepreneurs) which is an initiative for women who are operating a business or partnership, a social enterprise or indigenous enterprise, supported by the US Embassy in Pakistan in collaboration with TiE Islamabad, Change Mechanics and Ejad Labs.

Having studied International Business and Management from University of Manchester, Qurat-ul-Ain started her business in 2013 along with her sister. She grew up in a family that owns a famous shoe brand Milli Shoes that caters to the  middle and upper-middle socioeconomic classes of Pakistan. Conversations around shoe manufacturing, designs, market  etc. inculcated in her a vision of taking their shoe business to greater heights by exploring more avenues from a very early age. She was also tired of the low quality Thai and Chinese shoes being sold in the Pakistani market. Qurat Ul Ain says that she noticed the Pakistani local talented craftsmen were underutilized in the shoe industry. Also the hand-made designs were not a part of the shoe market.

All of these considerations along with her field of education helped her  in introducing a high-end line of locally manufactured shoes and bags embedding the intricate work of local craftsmen and artisans. It was named Chapter 13, as it started in December 2013. Also because Qurat Ul Ain and her first cousins make for 13 people; hence, the digit 13. “I also wanted to prove that 13 is not an unlucky number” says Qurat Ul Ain.

Milli Shoes and Chapter 13

Milli Shoes targets a very different socioeconomic class. Their school and casual shoes are famous all across Pakistan. Chapter 13 on the other hand started with the vision of promoting the work of local cobblers and shoe designers using local traditional material like for instance gota. Hand-crafted shoes are inherently more expensive as they require delicate work from experts. However, hand crafted artwork is appreciated by a very small but loyal consumer base which is interested in the thought behind things. This makes both the brands quite opposite. Chapter 13 primarily has an ecommerce space but it stacks a rack or two at several Milli Shoes stores as it has yet to establish its retail presence.

More About Chapter 13

Chapter 13 is a theme-based shoe collection brand. It champions itself in its hand embroidered shoe collection. All the creative designs are hand drawn and crafted within the office space in Lahore. It offers a wide variety of casual flats, formal flats, khussas and accessories (jewelry and bags). Its first theme was Reviving Truck Art which was something very unique to be used in the shoes industry. In an interview with The News, Qurat Ul Ain mentioned that Chapter 13 introduced the concept of ladies peshawari chappal for the first time in June 2014. It became a massive hit around mid-2015 and it can be seen being used by every brand. She says that we see females flaunting our kohatis and peshwaris confidently. Hand embroidered loafers and plain khussas are liked by the customers but the brand has discontinued Khussas because everybody is into making them now.

Chapter 13 takes pride in introducing themes that have never been used in the shoe industry. Their latest theme for example is gota.  They are also using Multani Kashigari in their designs. The embroidery is being done over gota kapra which is something Qurat Ul Ain claims has not been used before in shoes. Chapter 13 focuses on design and quality control instead of mass production. The very idea of it is to empower local artists and promote Pakistani art not just locally but also internationally. “One of my goals is to display my collection through an international exhibition at least twice a year,” says Qurat Ul Ain.

Entrepreneurial Journey

Qurat Ul Ain is the eldest from her 13 cousins hence she always had the responsibility of being an inspiration for the young ones. She did not have the choice to be ordinary. She always wanted to set an example and be independent. But she was the only one who had a startup goal while the rest were doing jobs. Qurat Ul Ain believes that a business requires tireless work and commitment and the associated pain is tremendous. Handling everything on your own and being responsible for even the smallest of things is not easy but the satisfaction you have while running a business is tremendous. She started her work in the servant quarter of her house and from there she moved to a proper space where she could engage the shoe makers.

“I skipped a few of the struggles because of my family’s long association with the footwear industry.” says Qurat ul Ain. Her father always bought her idea and supported her vision in the best possible way he could. But being a woman in a male dominated shoe business did not come easy to her. Sangla, which is a place two hours away from Lahore, is frequently visited by her for business related work. She has to cover herself in a veil and travel in a rickshaw to look culturally appropriate. Yet she says she has to regularly hear things like “ Ap larki hein ap ko nae pata jotun ka” (you are a woman, you do not know about shoes) despite her having an extensive knowledge on the shoes manufacturing and belonging to a family which has been associated with the business for decades.

Challenges, Future Goals and More

Generally the influx of Chinese footwear in local markets, the price of leather and high labour costs have led to the decline of handmade shoes even though they are of better quality and are more durable. For Qurat Ul Ain her biggest challenge is engaging the workers who know their craft. She says that they have to be paid in advance and there is no way to get them back if they just refuse to work with you. She currently has 7 to 8 workers. During COVID she says that although the sales surged, the number of working hours of workers decreased and so did her expenses. The payments were delayed too hence the struggle was real.

Her mission is to promote locally manufactured shoes in Pakistan which is met with challenges as her shoes cost more given their hand-embroidered nature. She also has a relatively small customer base which has that taste for hand-made things. Currently she does not have a physical presence of her own as Milli Shoes is her point of sale in retail. She wishes to segregate the both. Furthermore she needs to allocate a marketing budget in order to drive awareness regarding her brand; both locally and internationally.

Qurat Ul Ain has secured many awards to her name including the Best Entrepreneur Runner Up 2016 (British Council); she was among Top 25 Lahore Start up Cup (TiE Islamabad and USA Embassy) and Top 12 Lahore Start up Cup (TiE Islamabad and USA Embassy), and has successfully completed the World Bank Women Entrepreneur Training held at GCU under the name of Women X. Currently she is contesting for APWE which she believes has helped her gain more insights into managing her startup’s financials.

“There is nothing like having your own source of income. I would encourage every woman to explore herself and be independent because the satisfaction and joy you get is priceless.” says Qurat Ul Ain.

  • Niche communities like sneakerheads, athletes, and fashionistas are willing to pay a premium for one-of-a-kind shoes.
  • Limited edition and collector’s items produced in small batches have cult followings.

The main target markets for custom shoes include:

  • Sneakerheads: Die-hard sneaker collectors obsessed with limited edition kicks. Willing to pay high prices for exclusivity and clout.

  • Medical: People with foot conditions like plantar fasciitis or bunions who need orthopedic support.
  • Work and Safety: Workers who stand all day need custom inserts and features like metatarsal protection.
  • Fashion: Creative designers and influencers want to make unique statements with their footwear.
  • Big & Tall: Underserved categories that require larger or smaller than normal shoe sizes.

  • Pop-up shops and customization studios in trendy locations. Create buzz and allow customers to design in person.
  • Wholesale to independent boutiques, sneaker stores, and clothing retailers. Benefits from existing customer traffic.
  • Strategic collaborations with athletes, musicians, fashion houses, and other brands expand marketing.

Competitive advantages for new entrants include proprietary technologies, differentiated branding, strong social media and influencer marketing, and excellent customer service throughout the design process. Standing out from established players is critical.

2. Analyze the Competition

Competitive analysis tells you about local custom shoe businesses. Details help you plan your business model, and develop custom shoe painting business standards, price points, marketing methods, and more.

Here are some ways to learn about your local and online competitors:

  • Look for brands playing in the same custom shoe space.
  • Review their products, pricing, customer experience, and brand messaging closely.
  • Evaluate the online presence of competitors.
  • Assess SEO elements like metadata, keywords, and backlinks using tools like SEMrush.
  • Quantify their web traffic, engagement levels, reach, and sales conversion rates using analytics tools like Google Analytics and Facebook Insights.
  • Visit their stores as a secret shopper.
  • Evaluate presentation, service, quality, and ambiance.
  • Look for weaknesses you can improve upon and strengths you may leverage in your own space.
  • Tools like DataWeave and MobileSmith allow you to compile data on competitors all in one dashboard.
  • You can also set up Google News Alerts so you never miss their latest promotions, new products, or activities across the web.

Keep a finger on the pulse of competitors’ moves and stay agile as you build your custom shoe business. With strategic awareness and quick execution, you can carve out your niche even in a crowded space.

  • Store Build-out/Renovation – $30,000-$100,000 Construction costs for modifying retail space to your custom needs.
  • Starting Inventory – $50,000-$250,000 Producing the first production run of shoes once manufacturing is set up.
  • Marketing Activities – $15,000-$30,000 Initial brand marketing including things like photo shoots, branding assets, events, etc.

Ongoing Costs

  • Commercial Rent – $24,000-$144,000 annually
  • Mortgage Payments – $12,000-$24,000 annually if the building is purchased as an office/production facility.
  • Salaries – $150,000-$300,000 annually for staff including designers, production team, sales associates, etc.
  • Raw Materials – $500,000-$1,500,000 annually for leather, textiles, laces, glue, eyelets, packaging, etc. Fluctuates based on production volumes.
  • Shoe Manufacturing – $250,000-$750,000 annually for outsourced costs for producing shoes unless all production is in-house.
  • Utilities – $24,000-$48,000 annually for electricity, gas, water, waste, etc. Varies by location.
  • Marketing Expenses- $50,000-$250,000 annually Paid ads, trade shows, PR, photoshoot production, and influencer programs.
  • Amazon Web Services – $12,000-$24,000 annually for cloud hosting fees for e-commerce infrastructure.
  • Website Maintenance – $10,000-$20,000 annually for ongoing developer costs for site optimization and maintenance.

Costs quickly add up across operations including manufacturing, inventory, staffing, sales, and marketing. Careful financial planning and access to investment capital are essential for covering the considerable expenses of getting up and running.

4. Form a Legal Business Entity

Choosing the right legal structure is a key decision when forming a custom shoe business. The four main options each have pros and cons to weigh.

Sole Proprietorship

A sole proprietorship is the simplest and most common structure for new businesses. You operate as an individual owner reporting income on your tax return.

  • Pros: Easy and inexpensive to set up. Complete control of decisions. Minimal paperwork. All profits flow directly to you.
  • Cons: Unlimited personal liability for debts and lawsuits. Hard to raise investment capital. Limited life of the business.

For a small custom shoe operation just starting, a sole proprietorship provides flexibility as you test ideas and grow. But the risks of unlimited liability make other structures better as you expand.

A partnership involves two or more co-owners sharing control and profits. You file a partnership tax return but profits/losses flow through to partners.

  • Pros: Easy to establish with a partnership agreement. Shared financial risks among partners. Can combine complementary skills.
  • Cons: Joint and several liability for each partner. Potential for disputes between partners. Harder to dissolve or change ownership.

Partnerships can help a custom shoe business quickly scale production and grow the brand through combined resources. However, conflicting visions and unlimited liability make an LLC a safer bet.

Limited Liability Company (LLC)

LLCs mix the limited liability of a corporation with the tax flexibility of a partnership. Members own the company but have limited personal liability.

  • Pros: Liability protection for owners. Retain profits. Separate entity from members. Relatively easy to set up and operate.
  • Cons: Self-employment taxes on income. Need to treat members impartially. More recordkeeping.

For small growing custom shoe brands, an LLC provides the best of all worlds. You get liability protection and flexibility while operating fairly informally. Ownership can be easily adjusted. Overall an excellent choice.

A corporation is a legal entity owned by shareholders. Requires significant formal compliance and corporate governance.

  • Pros: Limited liability for owners. Ability to raise capital through the sale of stock. Perpetual existence. Prestige of “Inc.” status.
  • Cons: Most complex and expensive to create and maintain. Double taxation of profits. Extensive recordkeeping and reporting.

While some large custom shoe companies are corporations, most small businesses would find this structure unnecessary. Stick to an LLC while scaling then re-evaluate if seeking outside investors.

5. Register Your Business For Taxes

One of the first key legal steps for any new business is obtaining an Employer Identification Number (EIN) from the IRS. An EIN acts like a social security number for your business for tax and banking purposes.

Getting an EIN is free and easy via the IRS website. Simply navigate and click the blue “Apply Online Now” button. This takes you to a simple web-based application.

You’ll need to provide basic information about your company including name, address, and ownership details. The online form takes just minutes to complete. At the end, you’ll be issued your unique 9-digit EIN immediately.

An EIN is crucial for opening a business bank account, applying for licenses, hiring employees, and filing taxes properly. It establishes your company as a recognized legal entity. An EIN also helps separate your personal and business finances for liability protection.

In addition to your federal EIN, make sure to contact your state revenue or taxation department to register for sales tax collection. This allows you to legally charge and remit sales tax on shoes and other products sold in your state.

The sales tax registration process varies by state but typically involves submitting a simple application and paying a low fee. Some states even allow online or phone-based registration. You’ll receive a sales tax ID number to use on invoices and collect/pay taxes on a monthly or quarterly basis.

Proper sales tax compliance keeps your custom shoe business operating legally as you scale up. Failure to collect and remit owed taxes can lead to penalties and interest charges. With a federal EIN and state sales tax ID, you ensure smooth business taxation right from the start.

6. Setup Your Accounting

From the moment you make your first sale, establishing solid accounting practices is essential for any custom shoe business. Accurate bookkeeping and financial reporting form the foundation for success.

Accounting Software

Investing in a cloud-based accounting platform like QuickBooks is highly recommended right off the bat. QuickBooks seamlessly syncs with your business bank accounts and credit cards, allowing you to categorize transactions and generate financial statements with no manual data entry.

Hire an Accountant

Hiring a qualified accountant or bookkeeper provides oversight to ensure your finances stay compliant and optimized. They can handle tasks like payroll, monthly reconciliation, sales tax filings, and details you don’t have time for while designing shoes and running operations.

Come tax season, your accountant will be invaluable for completing your return and getting maximum deductions. Expect to invest around $200 to $500 per month for basic accounting support.

Open a Business Bank Account and Credit Card

For optimal accountability, maintain your business finances independently from personal finances. Open dedicated checking/savings accounts and apply for a business credit card solely for company expenses.

7. Obtain Licenses and Permits

Starting a custom shoe business? Your shoe store requires specific licensure and permits depending on where you live and how you sell/ship. Federal license requirements are listed on the U.S. Small Business Administration website. Use the SBA local search tool to find state and city permit regulations.

There are no major license requirements at the federal level to customize shoes and sell them domestically. Your local government might have permit requirements for the products you use if paints, glue, or other chemicals are used.

The custom shoe market requires a general business license from your city or county. This gives you official permission to operate. The cost is usually under $100 annually.

Selling footwear requires a seller’s permit in most states. This allows you to buy shoes wholesale without paying sales tax upfront. Instead, you collect sales tax when you resell to customers.

If you’re importing shoe products to customize, you’ll need to apply for an import license. This is required by U.S. Customs. Without one your imported goods may be seized at the border.

8. Get Business Insurance

Operating any business comes with inherent risks that can lead to substantial losses if not properly insured. Purchasing adequate business insurance coverage is highly recommended when launching a custom shoe brand.

The right insurance policies help safeguard your company’s physical assets and protect against liability claims. Potential disasters like fires, floods, or lawsuits could devastate your finances without insurance to cover the damage.

Some examples of costly scenarios that could occur without sufficient coverage:

  • A faulty 3D printer catches fire and destroys your production facility and all equipment. Repair and replacement expenses could total over $500,000.
  • A worker gets injured using a stitching machine due to a lack of training. Without workers’ compensation insurance, their medical bills and lost wages are your responsibility.
  • A child chokes on a shoelace and the parents sue your company for negligence. Legal fees and settlement payouts quickly add up without liability protection.

The good news is getting properly insured is straightforward. Start by speaking with an insurance broker who specializes in business policies. They will assess your operations and recommend tailored coverage options.

Typical policies are general liability, commercial property, product liability, workers’ compensation, and cyber insurance for e-commerce activities. Expect to budget approximately 1% to 5% of revenue towards annual premiums.

9. Create an Office Space

Having a dedicated office provides a vital workspace for key administrative, design, and production tasks when launching a custom shoe brand.

Home Office

A home office offers an affordable starting point, allowing you to convert a spare room into a basic work area for 1 to 2 people. With setup costs around $2,000 to $5,000, it’s ideal for bootstrapping entrepreneurs. However, you risk distractions and a lack of separation between work and personal life.

Coworking Office

Coworking spaces like WeWork provide convenient shared offices on flexible terms. For approx. $300 to $800 per month you can secure a semi-private office near other startups. The community vibe and amenities like Wi-Fi, printers, conference rooms, and coffee bars create a productive environment without major overheads.

Retail Office

If opening a retail space, consider a combined showroom and back office. Customers can design shoes upfront while you handle production behind the scenes. Renting 1000 square feet of retail space averages $1500 to $4000 per month depending on location.

Hiring contractors to build out sleek interiors and storage space adds $30,000 or more in upfront costs. But you gain incredible visibility and seamless integration of retail with office activities.

Commercial Office

Leasing dedicated commercial office space provides room for major expansion while projecting a professional image. Expect monthly rents of $2,000-$10,000 for 2000+ sq ft of Class A space in a business complex.

With private parking, security, meeting rooms, and your lobby, these larger facilities cater to established companies. The premium rates are only feasible once you’re selling a high volume of custom shoes.

10. Source Your Equipment

Launching a custom shoe brand requires specialized equipment for digital design, 3D printing, cutting, stitching, and finishing footwear. Here are some options for acquiring the necessary machinery and materials:

Purchasing brand-new equipment from manufacturers ensures optimal performance, reliability, and tech support. Key brands include OptiTex and Kongsberg for 3D design software, printers, and cutters. Expect investments of $30,000 to $250,000 to fully outfit production.

Buying Used

Savings can be found buying used equipment through sites like eBay, Craigslist, and Facebook Marketplace. Search for deals on 3D scanners, lasting machines, adhesive sprayers, and more. Inspect condition closely and factor in potential repair costs.

A flexible option is the short-term rental of major machinery like 3D printers. Sites like Hubs allow you to compare rental rates. Useful for sporadic jobs without high monthly production. The downside is limited access to equipment.

Leasing production equipment allows you to pay over time while using the latest technology. 3 to 5-year leases that cover maintenance are common for major tools like die cutters. Buyout terms provide eventual ownership.

11. Establish Your Brand Assets

Developing a strong brand identity is crucial for making your custom shoe company recognizable and memorable. Follow these key steps to create professional assets that express your vision.

Getting a Business Phone Number

A dedicated business phone number lends legitimacy and provides easy customer access. Services like RingCentral offer toll-free and local numbers with call routing, voicemail, and analytics. Expect costs around $25 to $50 per month.

Creating a Logo and Brand Assets

Your logo is the face of your brand. Consider typography, color palette, and icons that represent your style and story. Looka uses AI to generate affordable, custom logo options to choose from.

With your logo finalized, create complementary assets like stationery, packaging, signage, and digital elements tied together by consistent branding. This strengthens brand recognition as you scale.

Creating Business Cards and Signage

Business cards enable networking and help build brand awareness. Include essential info like contacts, logo, tagline, and social media links. Vistaprint offers 500 basic cards for around $20.

Interior and exterior signage is also useful if opening a physical retail space, conveying your brand personality to walk-in customers.

Purchasing a Domain Name

Secure a domain name that matches your brand for branding continuity. Aim for a .com address with your company name. Use domain search tools to find available options and buy via registrars like Namecheap for around $15 per year.

Building a Website

Every business needs a website to share products, and brand stories and accept online orders. You can easily DIY a site through user-friendly platforms like Wix . Or hire a freelance web developer on Fiverr if you require advanced e-commerce functionality.

12. Join Associations and Groups

Joining relevant local organizations and online communities provides invaluable connections and insights as you build your custom shoe brand.

Local Associations

Industry associations like the Two Ten Footwear Foundation offer networking, mentoring, training programs, and access to resources specifically for shoe professionals. Most major metro areas have chapters. Annual dues start around $500 but provide direct access to seasoned industry veterans.

Local Meetups

Attending local small business meetups allows you to regularly engage with other entrepreneurs in your community. Great for bouncing ideas, finding partners, and learning from peers. Use sites like Meetup to find free groups and events centered around startups, manufacturing, fashion, and more.

Facebook Groups

Social media provides online communities to glean insights anytime. Shoe design groups like Custom Shoes share inspiration, trends, and feedback. And local groups like Los Angeles SneakerHeads connect you with fellow footwear pros in your region.

  • Resolving issues quickly and fairly, like remakes for sizing misses or fixes for defects. Go above and beyond to make it right.
  • Following up after purchase to get feedback and hear about their experience wearing your creation. Request reviews.

How to Start a Shoe Shop Business in Pakistan

July 01, 2017 Posted by AMMAR ALVI

The demand for footwear is constantly rising and there are a number of local manufacturers producing good quality footwear. The turnover will depend on seasonal sales and ability of the venture to attract customers through quality and price incentives. Experienced and efficient sales staff also plays a critical role in determining the sales revenue of the business. The business is expected to have a capacity to sell 15,000 shoes in one year. The proposed project assumes to have a stock of 12,000 pairs at 80% capacity, out of which 500 pairs would be kept in inventory while remaining 11,500 pairs will be sold during first year of operation. The outlet will operate for 12 hours daily.

The total project cost for setting up a footwear retail outlet is estimated at Rs.  2.18 million out of which Rs. 1.01 million is capital cost and Rs. 1.17 million is working capital. Video shows shooter Thomas Crooks wasn't stopped for nearly two minutes before shooting Donald Trump

As hundreds of Trump supporters sporting red MAGA caps and carrying placards filed onto a fairground outside the small town of Butler, Pennsylvania, there was little indication they were about to witness a seminal moment in the US presidential campaign, and history.

What started as a peaceful rally on a sunny Saturday afternoon ended in chaos and confusion as a volley of shots were fired at former president Donald Trump, leaving him alive, but with blood streaming from his ear.

Here's what ABC News Verify has been able to determine from multiple live video feeds, map data, emergency reports, and eyewitness videos and accounts. As more footage from the event continues to emerge, questions are now being raised as to why authorities were unable to stop the former president from being shot.

Follow our live coverage of the attempted assassination of former US president Donald Trump.

The rally was being held here at the Butler Fairground, about 55km north of Pittsburgh, Philadelphia. Special stands and a stage had been erected at the site for the event.

shoes business plan in pakistan

6:02pm EDT (8:02am AEST)

Trump had been billed to take the stage at 5pm local time but doesn't appear until about 34 seconds past 6:02pm, when the song "God Bless the USA" by Lee Greenwood plays him in.

The rally stage is facing to the north-west with audience stands behind, and those three buildings you can see in the satellite imagery directly behind them. To Trump's left there is another series of large buildings and a car park.

After greeting the audience, Trump officially takes the stage. His first words into the microphone are "this is a big crowd, this is a big, big beautiful crowd."

A video that began circulating after the initial publication of this story shows the shooter — revealed by the FBI to be 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks — crawling across the roof next to the fairground car park.

The eyewitness video shows Crooks lying on his side 111 seconds before he shoots Trump. The actual shooting isn't shown, but ABC News Verify has matched the audio in the video of the former president speaking against live feeds of the rally to determine the timing.

As the shooter begins to move, a man tries to grab the attention of an off-screen police officer before a woman is heard yelling "he's on the roof!".

At 25 seconds past 6:11pm, a rally attendee near the shooter's position shouts out "he's got a gun!" as people around him panic. Video posted by TMZ shows the long-haired man in a prone firing position on a building near the car park, north of the stage.

a man with long hair lying down on a rooftop

A live stream feed from Right Side Broadcasting network — corroborated with live feeds from Associated Press and Reuters — shows the first shot was heard at 33 seconds past 6:11pm Eastern Daylight Time.

Footage taken by a rally attendee and posted on TikTok shows a sniper appearing to react quickly.

Looking northwards, Trump is showing a graph about US immigration figures and says "take a look at what happened" when he is cut off.

Three shots can be heard from the same weapon in under three seconds.

Between the first and second shots, the former president clutches his ear and winces slightly, indicating the first bullet found its mark.

The second shot rings out and Trump begins to crouch behind his podium. Crowd members behind him holding "You're Fired" placards — the catchphrase Trump used when hosting the reality TV show The Apprentice — begin to realise what is happening.

The third shot is heard, and three members of his security team are almost instantly on top of Trump, shielding him with their bodies.

Four seconds later, another four shots are heard, followed by a rapid three-shot burst from what sounds like a different firearm. Then, 11 seconds later, there is one more gunshot.

While there is extensive vision of snipers positioned around the rally site, at the time of publication it is unclear who killed the shooter, and from where they were firing from.

Eyewitness video taken in the aftermath shows the shooter's body on a building next to the northern car park approximately 130 metres away from the stage where Trump was speaking.

shoes business plan in pakistan

It's still unclear exactly how Crooks accessed the rooftop without being stopped, but street map data and satellite imagery of the location shows multiple access points, including from the adjacent buildings and car park.

As more Secret Service agents and armed escorts rush to Trump's side, the microphone picks up the security team trying to coordinate their exit strategy.

Footage taken by Washington Post photographer Jabin Botsford shows the guards trying to get the former president up on his feet.

Screams of "We love you, Trump!" are heard from the crowd.

The security team is ready to move after a path from the stage to his SUV is cleared. Trump is heard asking to collect his shoes before leaving.

Meanwhile, approximately 50 metres north of the stage, bystanders try to help a person who had been shot in the crossfire.

Police in the live feed and in eyewitness video are seen carrying a bloodied victim away.

An unnamed emergency department doctor wearing a USA T-shirt covered in blood is later filmed describing how the victim had been shot in the head and the man had attempted to save their life with CPR .

Secret Service spokesman Anthony Gugliemi would announce later that in addition to the gunman, one audience member was killed and another two were critically injured.

Back on stage, Trump raises his fist in the air and the crowd cheers, chanting "USA" as his team escorts him down the stairs and off the stage. It takes 22 seconds for him to reach his vehicle.

Trump throws out one last fist pump to the crowd before a few more agents enter behind him and close the door. His vehicle begins driving away at 41 seconds past 6:13pm EDT.

It all took just 11 minutes and nine seconds.

Pakistan’s most famous shoe retailer has seen ups and downs in its storied history. This is their business ethos.

Shahab Omer

Some brands become synonymous with a culture. They become household terms that define products, begin to appear in pop-culture and entrench themselves in the lives of people. In Pakistan, as far as shoes are concerned, the brand that comes to mind is Bata.

A large, international, chain operating since before partition, with quality yet affordable footwear, Bata ticks all the right boxes. Today, it is one of the things that defines the middle class, from being the place to go for school shoes and joggers, to the infamous everyday wear such as the Bata ‘chappal’ that is safe in the collective consciousness of generations.

Yet the Bata story is not an overly complicated one, despite its 80 year old history in the Indian subcontinent and its more than century old history internationally. It is a story of consistency, persistence, and innovation at the right time. Particular in Bata’s corporate history has been its success in Pakistan, where it maintains its position as an iconic brand that still produces quality products that sell well.

Profit sat down with Imran Malik, a longtime Bata employee that has been leading the shoe company in Pakistan as Managing Director since 2013 to hear about his and Bata’s journey in Pakistan.

Corporate History

The first Bata outlet in what is now Pakistan was established in Lahore in 1942. Back then, this was a simple shoe brand operating a single store. Five years later, it would survive the violence and turbulence of partition, being incorporated in Pakistan in 1951 as the Bata Shoes Company (Pakistan) Limited. It would eventually go public in 1979 as Bata Pakistan Limited, and according to their website, now has a retail network comprising more than 467 retail outlets, 331 registered wholesale dealers and 105 DSP.

But even though Bata’s success in Pakistan was partly because of how well they fit in the country, the origins of Bata happened more than half a century before that first outlet in Lahore opened. In 1894, eighth generation shoemakers, Tomáš, Anna and Antonín Baťa, established the Bata Shoe Company in Czechoslovakia. Their first product, called the Batovka, was a shoe made of leather and canvas at a time when shoes were made of only leather. From here on out, there was little looking back, as Bata continued to grow and grow, today serving a million customers everyday in their 5300 retail stores all over the world.

In Pakistan, Bata has been able to create unique brands under its banner catering to different niches and audiences. Traditional and affordable Bata school shoes and slippers aside, Bata sells Marie Claire, their brand for women’s shoes, Power for sports, Bubblegummers for childrens’ shoes, and Bata comfort for special medicated footwear. In addition to this, they sell more high end brands as well, such as Weinbrenner and North Star sneakers.

This branding has been a slow but deliberate process, as Imran Malik explains, the brand has always been looked at as a specialized school and basic everyday shoes brand for the masses in Pakistan. “This imagery has consistently produced healthy and positive business results for Bata Pakistan,” he says. “However, Bata, as a brand, strongly believes in evolving with consumers lifestyle and demands, and is currently going through a transformation of its imagery into a brand that is modern, elegant and in-tune with changing times – through a revived, comprehensive & upbeat product range, fresh retail look & feel and integrating technology with business operations to serve its customers better and in a more efficient manner.”

That is what has allowed Bata to get where it is. Effective marketing has always been at the heart of Bata Pakistan, and the company ethos is one of designing and delivering communication that produces effective business results. “With reviving and elevating the image of Bata brand in Pakistan, we are currently following our global brand communication platform, yet we have ensured that it is deeply rooted in the local market, culture, and consumer insights,” says MD Malik. This, of course, is his challenge.

As the MD of an international company, the benefit is that you have a large company backing you as well as providing assistance and direction. However, to continue to connect with the local audience and tweak strategies accordingly is vital. “Our fresh communication idea, ‘Surprisingly Bata’,has so far produced positive and encouraging results in uplifting the Bata brand image among young audiences,” says Malik.

“We have successfully portrayed a fresh and vibrant brand image for Bata Pakistan. Moreover, with changing lifestyle trends, sportswear has evolved into an everyday lifestyle accessory – and we at Bata are proud to offer one of the largest sneakers range for our consumers in the country, a range that can cater to any and every lifestyle trend especially for the young and young at heart consumers. We shall continue to upgrade the range to always bring new, fresh and exciting designs and styles for our consumers.”

What makes Bata tick?

Bata’s key attraction in Pakistan has been exactly what most consumers in the country are looking for, quality and affordability. Bata offers an international, branded product that is designed for local sensibilities and comes with a reasonable price tag.

shoes business plan in pakistan

The way Bata has managed to do this is by tackling the challenges that many in the retail sector face head on. Despite the many operational challenges for businesses in Pakistan, such as under-invoicing and tax evasions that are affecting the overall market in a negative manner, Bata insists that it is their thorough belief in transparency, accountable and ethical business practices that allow them to stay ahead of the competition.

“Ever-growing competition within the category is another huge challenge for a brand like Bata Pakistan. Though, the retail industry and retail marketing is rapidly transforming in Pakistan, and the local market is among the fastest growing retail markets in the world,” says Malik. “New malls and retail spaces are being established across the country and the boom is continuing – this growth is not only offering more space to the brands, but also offering more choice and more variety to the consumers.”

This is where Imran Malik’s own brand of business leadership also comes into play. From what he says, it can clearly be gauged that for him clean and pristine execution is the key to the retail industry. It is about following procedure to the dot to make sure standards are maintained. “It is highly critical to define operational guidelines that ensure efficiency and quality. This is what makes an organization successful. It is also equally important to regularly revisit the guidelines to continuously improve & evolve for sustainable success and growth,” he says.

“Every individual operational parameter is a very important pillar for an organization, but for a business like Bata Pakistan, the impeccable execution is of critical importance. No matter how many sleepless nights you have spent to devise a perfect strategy that tactically aligns across every business function, but if your execution is not seamless with perfect attention to detail, everything else wouldn’t matter at all,” he explains. “I usually exercise business simulation scenarios with my team before its execution and it really helps us to figure out and indicates the degree of success to a certain extent, but again the real picture comes out after its execution.”

The Covid-19 blow

Of course, for all the attention of detail or painstaking execution, there are certain situations that leave everyone baffled. This has never been more apparent than in recent days, when the Covid-19 pandemic left countless businesses out of commission and others desperate to simply survive. Bata, with its more than hundred year history, was around when the Spanish flu infected more than a third of the world’s population. However, even they were not prepared now for the level of economic devastation that this pandemic has caused.

Their plans for evolution and a change in branding all came grinding to a halt because of Covid-19. “Covid-19 has severely affected the retail businesses which has resulted in the negative sales volume and overall operational profitability of the retail businesses across the globe. This new normal may totally change people’s lifestyle, their shopping behavior and their outdoor preferences,” Malik tells Profit. “But, at the same time, Covid-19 has hastened the Pakistani retail industry to focus on e-commerce, and just like other key brands – we are heavily focusing on offering our range through online shopping to our consumers.”

shoes business plan in pakistan

“During the near-future, the retail industry will continue to be challenged by the covid-19 aftermath globally and in Pakistan, as we have seen thousands of people losing their jobs, certain business functions becoming either temporarily or permanently redundant, there has been a severe impact on the small to medium businesses and an increasing pressure on the household income of local population.”

In the middle of these days, Bata has seemed cognizant of the situation and willing to play their role. Back in their early days, the Bata siblings had made clear the kind of company they wanted to be – one that took care of its employees and gave back to the community. Because Tomáš Bata believed that business had a responsibility to its employees, the company provided its workers with housing, schools, hospitals, libraries, and recreational facilities.

Now, with a global pandemic raging, Bata had launched the ‘Bata Heroes’ initiative. This initiative planned to donate 1 million pairs of shoes to healthcare workers, volunteers, and their families. The initiative covers a diverse range of countries that also include Pakistan, India, Czech Republic, Bangladesh, Colombia, Italy, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Chile, Peru, Thailand and Malaysia. Bata has also produced and donated face masks, face shields and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for healthcare workers. In addition, Bata has also donated food, hygiene products and funds through the Bata Children’s Program and the Bata Shoe Foundation.

“As a global leading shoe company, Bata feels responsible towards all its stakeholders, including the communities in which it operates across countries and regions,” says Malik. “Bata, globally, and in Pakistan, is driven by a belief to positively contribute to society, share its success with deserving sections of the community, and overall become a positive and enriching part of people’s everyday lives.”

To this end, Bata Pakistan specifically is donating 100,000 pairs of shoes to the Bata Heroes initiative. “In addition to the specific Covid-19 community initiatives, Bata will always continue to positively contribute towards its community projects like safe water filtration plants in areas where safe drinking water is not available, the SOS orphanage program and a lot of other initiatives.”

For now, Bata is continuing their plans and their Corporate Social Responsibility programmes the best they can during the pandemic. And while things are different, they have been handling it with a cool head. “Bata Pakistan is following and has implemented all social distancing measures of Covid-19 at Bata Stores for the safety of consumers and its employees,” says their MD. “We are aligned with the Pakistani government, and our global policies regarding Covid-19 and religiously following each and every guideline. People are our most treasured assets, which is why our prime objective is safety, health and wellbeing of our employees and consumers – and we will never compromise on this.”

It has been a hard road, but as cases drop in Pakistan, business is also picking up once again, and Bata has taken this time to improve their online presence and e-retail footprint, like most brands both big and small.

“Every black cloud has a silver lining, we have taken this current Pandemic situation as a window of opportunity and have started to aggressively focus on our end to end online stores where we are reaching to our valued customers at their doorstep,” says Malik. “Our online store at is a one stop destination for men, women, Kids to fulfil their shoe buying needs. Our online store is user friendly, highly efficient with a very easy process to select & buy the required shoes.”

Bata’s market performance

As a publicly listed company, Bata Public Limited has been a listed entity since 1979, and is a part of the KSE 100 index. And over the years, Bata has remained a frontrunner in the local shoe industry.

According to a report by Business Recorder in 2015, the financial history of Bata Pakistan has been stable, with the company showing a gradual increase in both sales and profits, and seeing its fortunes take a very good turn around 2010 and continuing to do so over the years. Bata Pakistan is also part of an exclusive club of companies that generate over Rs 10 billion in annual revenue. They first got to this figure back in 2012, when the top line grew 17 percent to nearly Rs 11.5 billion. However, while Bata continues to dominate the market, its performance is not as stellar as it once was. Essentially, Bata is still accelerating, but not at the same rate as it was once.

shoes business plan in pakistan

This has mostly been because in recent years, a lot of smaller, local, cheaper brands have entered the market, and while Bata has the lion’s share, the competition combined together has been stiff. A different report, this one from 2017, said that the operational atmosphere has become very tough for Bata Pakistan Limited in wake of the rising informal sector, and that going forward, things are not expected to get any better. Sales growth is expected to take a further dip in coming years.

However, with nearly 80 years of experience just in Pakistan, Bata seems set to ride out the competition and continue to hold its cemented place as Pakistan’s leading shoe brand. As their MD himself admitted earlier, “ever-growing competition within the category is another huge challenge for a brand like Bata Pakistan. Though, the retail industry and retail marketing is rapidly transforming in Pakistan, and the local market is among the fastest growing retail markets in the world.” However, Bata’s unique way of business and focus on execution efficiency sets it apart and up for success.

Pakistan will consider expelling hundreds of thousands more Afghans in a continued clampdown

Pakistan's Foreign Ministry says authorities will consider a plan to expel hundreds of thousands more Afghans who have been living in Pakistan for years, the latest in a monthslong government clampdown on undocumented migrants

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan will consider a plan to expel hundreds of thousands more Afghans who have been living in the country for years, the foreign ministry said Thursday, the latest in a monthslong government clampdown on undocumented migrants.

The plan is still in the works, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch told reporters — and the government may ultimately reject it.

It would mark the “second phase” of the “Illegal Foreigners Repatriation Plan” and it would involve persons who had been given identification documents known as “Afghan citizen cards” to legalize their stay in Pakistan for a limited time.

“At this stage, I do not have a date to share with you,” she said at a weekly news briefing in the capital, Islamabad, adding that an announcement about the action would be made “at an appropriate time.”

Pakistan's crackdown on undocumented migrants has drawn sweeping criticism from the United Nations, aid agencies and human rights groups.

Since the deportations started, an estimated 600,000 Afghans have gone back to Afghanistan. After forcing thousands back daily, the deportations slowed down and appeared to halt in recent months.

On Wednesday, following a visit by the U.N. refugee agency chief, Filippo Grandi, Islamabad announced it has extended the stay of 1.45 million Afghan refugees residing in the country.

During his visit, Grandi welcomed what he described as the Pakistan government ’s suspension of the deportations .

However, Baloch denied that was the case and said there has been no suspension in the anti-migrant crackdown that targets those without valid papers . The deportations only involve those in Pakistan illegally — and they are being carried out in a “humane manner,” Baloch said.

She insisted Afghan refugees living here need not worry as their stay has now been expended.

Amnesty International said Thursday it welcomed Islamabad's decision to extend one-year stays. Thyagi Ruwanpathirana, the group's regional researcher for South Asia, urged Pakistan to “extend this lifeline to all Afghan refugees in Pakistan."

She also urged Pakistan to formally suspend the "Illegal Foreigners Repatriation Plan” and top all forcible returns of Afghans in the country.

Pakistan has long hosted an estimated 1.7 million Afghans , most of whom fled during the 1979-1989 Soviet occupation of their country. More than half a million others escaped Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover in 2021, with thousands waiting in Pakistan for resettlement in the United States and elsewhere.

Baloch also urged the international community to expedite the process for the relocation of thousands of Afghans who fled the Taliban takeover, most of who are still in Pakistan, she said.

These Afghans have been desperately waiting for their visa applications to be processed so they could leave for the United States, Canada, United Kington, Germany, Australia, Italy and several other countries.

The delay in the resettlement has left these Afghans in a vulnerable position, contending with economic hardship and lack of access to health, education and other services in Pakistan.

Baloch's remarks appeared to catch Afghanistan's Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation off guard.

Abdul Mutalib Haqqani, a spokesperson with the refugee ministry, said they had heard through official channels that the deportations have stopped. He said no Afghan refugees have been forcibly deported from Pakistan — whether they had proper papers or not — and that there were no reports of arrests in the neighboring country in the past 24 hours.

Haqqani appealed on the Islamabad government to give Afghans enough time to leave Pakistan in an orderly fashion and that there be no forced deportations.

“Our second request is for our Afghan brothers to return to their country voluntarily,” he said. “Now there is peace in the country ... the refugees should return to their country.”

Nike's trying to pivot. It's not working just yet.

  • Nike's been having a tough time, with shares down more than 30% this year and sales set to fall.
  • The sportswear brand has started implementing a turnaround plan, but the results are yet to be seen.
  • Nike's reliance on its lifestyle business seems to be hurting it, one analyst said.

Insider Today

Nike 's lost its stride — and is finding it hard to get its pace back up.

In December, the company announced a cost-cutting initiative that included simplifying its assortment of products and cutting jobs.

The aim was to deliver up to $2 billion in savings over the next three years, which "will be invested to fuel future growth, accelerate innovation at speed and scale, and drive greater long-term profitability."

Two quarters on, Nike still appears to be looking for ways to turn its business around.

The latest effort is rehiring Tom Peddie, an executive with 30 years of experience at Nike who came back out of retirement, Bloomberg reported on Monday.

Peddie will serve as vice president of marketplace partners, which involves managing Nike's relationships with retailers like Foot Locker. Nike spent years trying to sell less at third-party retailers and more through its own website and stores, which hasn't been going well recently.

More recently, though, Nike has changed course and tried to mend fences with those retailers.

The new old hire comes hot on the heels of an earnings report that laid bare some of Nike's biggest challenges.

In late June, Nike delivered a lackluster set of Q4 results and said it expects sales for its 2025 fiscal year to fall by mid-single digits, including a 10% drop in the first quarter alone. That shocked investors, especially as analysts had expected a 1% increase this year, according to Reuters.

None of it impressed investors much. Nike's shares closed down 20% that day; the company has dropped more than 30% since the start of the year.

Some major reasons included a tougher sales environment in China, ongoing challenges with its digital platform, and what Nike CFO Matthew Friend described as "muted" forward wholesale orders with "newness not yet at scale."

It doesn't look like it's going to get better very quickly, either, with Friend saying on the earnings call that the "next few quarters will be challenging."

Meantime, CEO John Donahue said that 2025 "will be a transition year for our business."

Related stories

After the report, Nike cofounder and former CEO Phil Knight expressed "unwavering support" for Donahue in a statement.

Nike needs more key sports products

So, how can the biggest name in sneakers get its stride back?

One answer rests in what the company calls its "lifestyle" business — basically, shoes and clothing meant for casual wear. Nike's "performance" segment, meanwhile, includes many of its core sports products, such as basketball shoes.

While revenue from performance products grew in Q4, declines in its lifestyle business overshadowed them, contributing to the worse-than-expected results.

In its last fiscal year, lifestyle products have grown to about 60% of Nike's business, UBS analyst Jay Sole estimates.

Dividing sales more evenly between performance and lifestyle products would help Nike "restore its image as a sports brand and make its top-line growth rate more sustainable for the long term," he wrote in a note.

"One of our big takeaways from Nike's 4Q report is its lifestyle business needs a major reset," Sole said.

The company has also lost ground to rivals when it comes to connecting directly with customers.

Members of run clubs in Portland, near Nike's headquarters, say that they have been visited by representatives from smaller brands like Hoka and New Balance — but no one from Nike, The Wall Street Journal reported in June.

CEO Donahue noted that road running "remains a competitive battlefield that we are playing to win" on the call.

Another issue is Nike's pipeline of new products.

Nike has been cutting back on some popular shoe lines to get people hyped about new ones. On the latest earnings call, Donahue pointed to areas where Nike has introduced new products, from fitness leggings aimed at female consumers to shoes specifically for road runners.

That could help drive performance sales — especially those through Nike's digital business, a major pain point at the moment for the company. It could also help the re-instated Peddie rebuild relationships with and sales through retail partners.

But Donahue also referenced products that were still in development or months away from release. He teased new versions of Nike's Pegasus and Vomero running shoes, for instance, that aren't scheduled to hit shelves until the second half of fiscal 2025 while referencing a "strong wholesale order book" for coming seasons.

"Talking about newness not in stores doesn't work anymore," Jefferies analyst Randal Konik wrote.

While CFO Friend said management is "confident that we are repositioning Nike to be more competitive," investors have yet to be convinced.

"This is still [Nike] and the right strategy could turn the business," BMO analyst Simeon Siegel wrote in a note after June's earnings report. "But we're not convinced that strategy is presently in place."

Farmhouse or Vacation Property: Investing in vacation properties, especially in hilly areas like Murree, Swat, and Nathiagali, can yield high returns.

Tips for Successful Real Estate Investment:
