How to Write a Great Speech for School

If you want to write a speech that will catch your audience in a meaningful and engaging way, you should have some basic things under your sleeve. Speech writing, so to say, offers school students a unique opportunity to present the needed information in the most meaningful and impactful way. It provides them with the rare chance to learn how to convey it in the most persuasive way that leaves them grappling for more. Successful speech should combine a lively narrative with descriptive, persuasive, and explanatory know-how.

speech on school for class 3

Better still, successful ones begin early in their life to develop the most incredible charm in the address. Think of those instances when the teacher or tutor had to call you in front of the class to do one. For most high school students, that is the most trying moment of your life. By all standards, that is also how to create a lasting relationship with the audience. Here, you will begin to develop strong confidence to appeal to the emotions of listeners while still making a logical and engaging talk.

Why You Should Master Speech Writing Early

School students are often assigned oral presentation projects as groups or individually as part of the speech writing skill. Even though your kids may never become known figures or corporate members who must do presentations, at one point in life, they may be required to talk to the masses. They can begin writing by looking at papers that are published at Studydriver.com for free so they get a feel of what a speech looks like. They can even use the samples there for better study. Enrolling them in writing is an important step that may turn out to be an invaluable move in later life.

Tips on Writing a Winning Speech

These are some of them for writing:

1. The Audience

They are the pillar upon which your talk derives its meaning. Before the project, carry out thorough knowledge of the group of persons you are about to address. For instance, you may be preparing to address the administration on the contemporary issues affecting the student body. The format should be crafted to meet the needs of the immediate audience which is the administration.

2. A Befitting Topic

Before you open your speech, it is important to get one that is engaging. Public speaking rides on the wave syndrome of your audience. Known figures such as George Washington were men who could drive them into a euphoric mood in a matter of minutes. Your opening remarks should contain the imaginative opener that pulls the crowd. It must be an area that you know strongly about, something that drives you to bring a point. It should carry the logical content that befits the administration.

3. Research

Public speaking is not meant to waste people's time. You must thoroughly know your topic or the listeners will get the lack of substance in your content and drift away. Just like formal writing, you must organize the stuff in such a way that it will drive sense and deliver the message. The thesis statement must be clear and carry the weight of the message you want to pass on. For instance, if your message is directed towards the student body , you will need to organize your thoughts in such a way that aligns with those of your target group.

4. Write Your Speech

silver corded microphone in shallow focus photography

Now that you have your crowd and the three elements to write a good speech, you can now go ahead and draft. It is good to follow the following writing tips in order to produce excellent public speaking skills .

5. The Outline

The public speaking outline will help you organize your good idea in a way that will cause them to remember the core points and the main theme of your presentation. It is important that the purpose be clear and to the point. There is no better way of achieving that than organizing your feelings with a focused outline.

6. Be Conversational

Your public speaking and tone should not be rigid and too formal. It should be conversational and humorous if it is to endear the hearers. It is not good practice to read in front of your group. Instead, you should note down the key issues to help you remember the content or make a PowerPoint presentation. Good speakers have a way of coining out words that carry visual aids and techniques. Such visual content usually dazzles the imagination of the hearers and leaves them with a lasting memory in their speeches.

7. Be Specific in your Speeches

Write precise sentences. Support every point with statistical data from sources that are authentic and authoritative. In this way, you will be able to draw attention, even if you are talking to school students at US colleges with the best financial aid . Check the process to ensure that every word you speak carries the weight of your talk.

Speeches outlines should contain the following areas:

Introduction: Your introduction must identify one line, be precise and specific. It should describe the aim. The introduction actually summarizes your persuasive speech format without leaving any doubt or question.

Business or Cause: Describe what you are or do or cover in brief sentences. Let them understand who you are, what you want to stand for and focus on showing the best series of actions.

Let your conclusion drive your listeners to seek help from you. Give it time, keep it short, rich, and authoritative so that they can look to you for more news. If possible, get printouts and hand them out to your crowd. Sample speech writing is the type of art that works when one must gain knowledge in order to be a successful speaker. That is why starting the learning at the lower level is recommended. It will prepare the school students for the challenges ahead. A debate club is a place to start. Therefore, enrolling your children early in this course is highly recommended so you can give and share with the world.

Speech on School Memories

School memories are like treasure boxes, filled with moments of joy, laughter, and learning. They hold the essence of our childhood, shaping who we become.

When you think about your school days, what comes to mind? Is it the friends, the teachers, or the lessons learned? This is a journey back to those unforgettable times.

1-minute Speech on School Memories

Good day, everyone. Today, let’s take a magical journey back to our school days. Hold tight to your heartstrings because we are about to sail on a wave of nostalgia.

Our school days are a treasure chest of bright, sparkling memories. Remember your very first day? The nervousness, the excitement, the new bag and the shiny shoes? That’s where it all started, the dawn of a journey filled with learning, laughter, friendships, and a little bit of mischief.

Secondly, let’s talk about our dear friends. Those who stood by us, cheered us on, and shared our lunch boxes. It’s them who made school truly special. Whether we were playing in the field, studying in the library, or taking part in school plays, our friends were always there. They are the heart of our school memories.

Next, we must appreciate our teachers. Their guidance, patience, and wisdom have shaped us. The lessons we learned, both from textbooks and life, were taught by them. They pushed us to be better, to dream bigger. They are the architects of our future.

And let’s not forget the fun side of school. The joy of winning a match, the thrill of school trips, the laughter during lunch breaks, and the sense of accomplishment on graduation day. These moments filled our hearts with pure happiness.

As we look back, every memory from our school days is precious. They made us who we are today. The friendships, the lessons, the fun, and the achievements – they all have a special place in our hearts.

In conclusion, our school memories are like a beautiful song. They make us smile, they make us cry, but most importantly, they make us remember the good old days. These memories are our treasures, and we must cherish them always.

2-minute Speech on School Memories

Good day to all present here.

Let’s take a trip down memory lane, to a time that holds a special place in our hearts, the school days. The school, a place not just of learning, but a place where we first encountered the vibrant colors of life.

In our first years at school, we were small children with wide, curious eyes. We made our first friends and learned our first lessons, not just in reading and writing, but in sharing, caring, and being kind. We celebrated our first victories, whether it was winning a race, getting an answer right, or even just managing to tie our shoelaces on our own. These are not just memories, they are the stepping stones that shaped our personalities.

The middle years of our schooling were filled with a different kind of excitement. We discovered our interests and pursued them, whether they were in sports, music, arts or academics. We learned about team spirit when we played for our school teams, and about humility and grace when we lost. We learned about the joy of creation when we painted a picture or played a tune. We learned about the thrill of discovery when we solved a complex problem. We learned, in essence, about the beauty of life.

The final years of our school life were the most transformative. We learned about responsibility and leadership, and about making difficult decisions. We learned about the power of dreams, and the importance of hard work and determination in achieving them. We learned about the value of friendship, as we forged bonds that would last a lifetime. We learned about the pain of parting, as we said goodbye to our school, our teachers, and our friends. But we carried with us the treasure trove of memories that we had created over the years.

But school memories are not just about joy and learning. They are also about the challenges and difficulties we faced. There were times when we struggled, when we failed, when we felt alone. But these moments, too, are important, for they taught us about resilience and courage. They taught us that it’s okay to fail, as long as we pick ourselves up and try again. They taught us that no matter how difficult the road, we can always find the strength within us to keep going.

In conclusion, school memories are a mix of sweet and bitter experiences, of joy and sorrow, of victories and failures. But through it all, they are a testament to our growth and evolution. They are the mirror that reflects who we are today. As we look back at our school memories, let’s cherish them, learn from them, and carry them with us as we move forward in our journey of life. Because no matter where we go, or what we become, these memories will always be a part of us, a part of our story.

Thank you for your patient listening.

Long and Short Speech on My School in English Language

On our portal, you will find both short and long speeches on My School, which can prove to be of great help to you in your assignment whether it’s a classroom one or for any formal speech giving ceremony. So read on to know more!

My School Speech 1

Dear Friends – I warmly welcome you all to today’s speech ceremony!

It’s a very special day today as our very own Dear School has completed 12 years successfully. So first of all let’s cheer up for that and I am feeling extremely honored to have been sharing this great news with you all. Now, going by the special occasion I considered it apt to deliver a short speech on my school, no actually on ‘our school.’

I have been studying in the school since II standard and at that point in time no one knew the name of our school and currently I am in 10 th standard and the School has raised its standards to great heights. Presently, everyone knows ABC International School as it is counted amongst the top five schools in our Raghunagar area. It fills me with immense pride to be a student of this school and it goes without saying that I have been imbibed a lot for a simple reason that my teachers have been so fabulous. My school has not only helped me excel in studies, but also in honing my skills for other co-curricular activities to an extent where we can confidently compete with other schools and bring accolades home.

It’s not even like our second home, but our first home where we spent more than half of our day, study, eat, enjoy, discuss, debate and do every possible thing which should be done for grooming ourselves and for intellectual growth.

You all will agree to the fact that school plays an extremely important role in our lives as it lays the foundation of education in our early years and over a period of 12 years we become confident and mature to face the world out there and give wings to our dreams. If a child is not properly schooled in his or her early years then it severely impacts his/her intellectual growth. And I can proudly say that I have been really very fortunate that I could be a part of this school which has taught me a lot over a period of given years.

I couldn’t have asked for more. Since this opportunity is not going to come back, I would want to extend special thanks to our honorable Principal ma’am for steadily working towards the betterment of our School and leaving no stone unturned in the welfare of the students. I have no grievances because I sincerely believe that we have been given great exposure here and we are not only imparted knowledge through the medium of books, but are also given practical learning sessions so that we gain a better understanding of things and relate it with the real life incidents.

Then from time to time inter-school, zonal and state level competitions are organized so that it not only gives us a great sense of confidence to face the world, but also to learn from both our success and failures. Our school has instilled in us enough confidence to be able to bring glory to our school on the basis of knowledge learning exercise that takes place in our classrooms.

I can endlessly go on praising my school, but now I would like to bring an end to my speech and request others to come on stage and say a few words.

My School Speech 2

Respected Class Teacher and My Dear Friends – Good Morning to all!

I, Tapan Sharma, stand in front of you all to deliver a Speech on My School. As we all know that School is a place to study and learn. It is defined as a Temple of learning and knowledge. The name of my School is ABC School and it is in Greater Kailash. Our School is impressively built with big and airy classrooms, including impressive and well-furnished laboratories along with the quintessential libraries.

It is here that I have learned a variety of things and know how to differentiate between good and bad, right and wrong, how to make the optimum utilization of time, what is the importance of time and how discipline plays a key role in helping us achieve our dreams. I want to especially thank my teachers for everything they have taught us and have worked really hard in our mental as well as intellectual growth. We are nothing without you.

Other than studies, you have taught us how to conduct ourselves in front of others and how to be virtuous, forgiving, kind and compassionate towards others. Sometimes I wonder where you all get this patience from for handling so many mischievous students like us yet the entire thing seems so effortless on your part. It feels as if our teachers are especially gifted by God with such qualities as endurance, compassion and a great sense of reading the mind of their students. The best part is that our teachers have never thrashed us but have acted wisely by making us reflect on our actions so that we can correct our wrongs.

Our school has a great culture and environment for learning and cohesive development of a child. We have phenomenal teachers who take much pain for us in transmitting knowledge to us and handling our queries. In fact, whenever we face any crisis in our personal lives, we can without any hesitation approach our class teacher and get the required guidance and support. Our teachers are not just our teachers but our guides and mentors who act as torch bearers for us. We are so fortunate to have such teachers who stand by us all the time and put efforts persistently towards making us responsible human beings. Right from learning to read, write and analyze, we are taught everything so much so that we are modeled into hardworking and dedicated students.

For many, school life is a preparatory stage that helps prepare us for the later stages in life, but that learning stays with us for our lifetime. So through the medium of speech I would like to send across a message to all the parents to send their child to a good school and never undermine its importance.

This is all from my side, now I would request our class teacher to come on stage and a say w few words in this regard.

My School Speech 3

Dear Friends – I welcome you all to the speech ceremony of today!

First of all, I wish to extend a warm thank you to everyone present here. As you all know the reason behind our presence here we have come to discuss the role that schools play in everyone’s lives in shaping their career and lives. But even today not everyone gets the same and equal opportunity to go to school and study. There are still many poor, underprivileged children who remain at the periphery and continue to live a deprived life.

As this concern has been raised by many of our NGO members, we considered it important to bring up this issue in our present meeting and chart out some plans for their education and betterment. And since we are discussing about the important role of school, I would also like to share an experience from my personal life, which is that of my school and in what ways it contributed towards the holistic development of my being.

As a person who has spent more than half of his life remaining a student, I can confidently vouch for the important role that a school plays. I cannot underestimate the importance of school because if it were not the schools then children’s intellectual and mental growth in their early years would have remained stunted.

In schools, we not only gain knowledge from the books but also learn things practically that helps in the overall growth of a student, for instance, we are taught the importance of discipline and time management in our school which is a valuable lesson which we never let slip off from us because we know what repercussions may follow after that. Similarly, we have learnt other important lessons too which we follow in our lives till the end. So we can very well understand the plight of such students who don’t go to school at all and needless to mention our nation is laying waste their precious talent.

But as a responsible citizen of our country, it becomes our civic duty to educate the children of our Nation and send them to school and educate them. Though they can be taught at home, but school environment is something else and nothing can replace it. School plays a number of key roles; out of which the chief aim is that of educating children of course and making them understand the significance of teamwork and team spirit, which is very crucial for them to know because when they grow up and are directed to their workplaces, they have the requisite ability to become a productive part of their society. In schools, students of course are provided with new ideas and are helped in developing their critical thinking through the medium of Science and Literature and are given a great exposure to unravel the geographical, cultural and historical world.

So let’s take pledge this time to try and send as many children to school as possible and contribute towards building their bright future.

My School Speech 4

Hello All – Welcome to the 25 th anniversary of our school. It gives me immense pleasure to announce the successful completion of 25 years of our school.

It was a decade before that I joined this school as one of the faculty members and now I feel extremely glad to be its part. I have seen so many students joining our school and leaving as confident and knowledgeable individuals. With the dedicated efforts of all our staff, we have been able to bring our school in the list of top five schools of our place. Whether it’s our primary school wing, secondary school or higher secondary school wing, every sector is discharging its duty well and imparting education to children with a great sense of responsibility.

But If I were to talk about the importance of school in general, I would say that it helps in the following ways –

INFORMATION

The most significant reason behind sending our children to school is the fact that school is a centre of learning and information. Besides, it offers a safe haven for the dissemination of ideas and exposes us to a vast range of subject knowledge and ideas which we wouldn’t otherwise find in a conventional set up, such as that of our homes.

Imbibing knowledge from new subjects and developing proficiency in a skill can help in the exponential growth of a student or a child. Whether a student is interested in Arts, Science, or Commerce, the school, with the assistance of its administrators and, most importantly, teachers, provides its students with a favorable environment for studying and personal growth

Schools also give the feeling of a sense of community to its students where children from different strata of society come, meet and interact. In fact, in my early years as a student, I used to detest the idea of attending school but as I grew up I realized the importance of a school and the conducive environment that it provides for multiple activities for the students to take place and which has helped shape and nourish my personality otherwise I wouldn’t have been the person that I am today.

SOCIALIZATION

As human beings are social animals, we cannot survive in isolation. Therefore, even schools are a great place for socialization. In schools, we interact with students from different social as well as cultural backgrounds which further help in broadening our horizon.

In school we not only make friends, but also learn the spirit of teamwork through different activities. The school environment offers students ample opportunities to adapt to team dynamics, a crucial skill necessary for success in the real world..

PREPARATION

In schools children not only learn letters and numbers, facts and figures, but are actually prepared to face the world out there once they leave school. So schools immensely contribute in the overall growth of a student and therefore we should never underestimate its importance, but encourage more and more children for attending the school.

This is all I have to say, thank you so much for listening to me patiently.

Learn to gather material from outside sources about your thread for grades 9 through 12 learning, and deliver your opinion strongly and concisely. Give plain reasons for something you believe. Foster support for your solution, theory or device.

This is principally beneficial for achieving higher education institute assertiveness when you are on stage and put two or more views together, and provide a reason for putting them together by logical reasoning. Another method is approaching the subject matter in both positive and negative lights.

Tracing how something has induced artificially from an earlier state to its current form could welcomed by higher pedagogic instructors.

Next tip: workout extensive information on indoor and outdoor recreation activities to tempt your public to explore other activities than dating, dancing and drinking in a local bar.

Sports is a candidate for finding senior graded school speech topics. E.g. sport as profession to earn a living. With a scientific twist you make it more sophisticated, and because you’re highly qualified and have an actively learning attitude you are able to get their thesis commitment.

Some moves that matter in lower classes are the so-called critize teaching skills, often described as asking and wondering through critical inquiry:

You can help your teacher and fill her or him with enthusiasm by going extracurricular in proposing a particular judgment on a certain top topicality and examen the validity of the arguments by criticizing. This has been in practice in the late seventies – when things went the old-fashioned and more severe way 🙂 – but this technique has made a terrific comeback and is now used in grades 5 through 8 homework assignments.

Many of my visitors look for sixth grade inspiration, or class 6 if you live in India, Bangladesh and Pakistan, Primary 5 or 6 in Singapore, and 6ГЁme in France for example. Anyway, in what country you are right now does not matter; all school speech topics are created for children in the range of eleven and twelve years old.

The same holds good for class conversations of (usually) thirteen to fourteen years old who try to cover explanations of various objects and their meaning in the accustomed world of the eight grade population.

Children speak the truth, is often said 🙂 And that saying is more than true. Give them something to chew on in public – from colouring plates to planting and caring for trees – and it is so easy, a younger persons can do it 🙂

More for girls and boys – although it depends on the specific age or progress of the pupils – can be found at this index number two. Help them to be able to get to know the material, and to make the first steps on the path of learning the rudimentary public speaking skills (that are valuable for their whole life).

I have shaped a list that also contains some reference information for nursery and primary and kindergarten material.

My School Speech for School Students

Short speech on my school.

Every school is special in its own way and the same is with my school as well. It is a place where people from different backgrounds and temperaments come together with the purpose to learn. It offers magic in the form of experiments in laboratories, sports in the field, creativity in the art room and more. Schools are a place where we get to make friends, learn new things and grow every day. In fact, it is so hard to imagine a world without schools. They are the first place where we learn about life and many other things. Similarly, my school plays the same role in my life.

My School Speech

My School’s Uniqueness

I study in a convent school which has centuries-old buildings. It has two buildings which divide into the senior category and junior category. The red walls of my school are the trademark of our uniqueness. They are renowned all over the city and have been so for many years.

Every school carries some uniqueness in some way and so does my school. It is the only school in the whole city to cover the largest area. Moreover, my school produces the highest number of toppers in the board exams.

Other than that, the big playground of my school has the most modern swings which the kids absolutely love. In addition, the science lab of my school has all the gear and equipment one requires to successfully carry out experiments.

Another accomplishment of school is that it has got the largest library in the whole town. It consists of every book you can ever think of in many languages and genres. Most importantly, my school’s staff is very loving and inspirational. They love and care for us like their own children.

My Second Home

It would be only fit to call my school my second home. After all, it is the place where I spend most of my time after my home. Not only that, the atmosphere in my school is so comfortable that it makes me feel at home.

I have always loved attending school and never miss out on an opportunity to do so. Further, it is my second home also because I have my friends here who are nothing less than family to me. Thus, they make my school life easier and full of joy. It is truly a blessing to have them in my life.

Most importantly, my school is my second home because it teaches me a lot of things each day. It is a safe space that allows me to grow every day and reach greater heights. As you all know, we have our parents and older siblings at home who protect us at all times.

Similarly, at my second home which is my school, I have my teachers and seniors. They make sure I reach my full potential and encourage me to do the right thing always.

Therefore, I will forever be grateful to my school for being a pillar of strength in my life. Everything that I learn here stays in my mind and heart forever. One day I will have to bid farewell to these beautiful red walls and inspiring teachers, but it won’t change anything. It is so because my school is a part of who I am and it’ll always remain the same for my entire life.

Public speaking tips for students aim to reduce anxiety that can interfere with giving presentations or speeches in class. These tips can also be helpful for those with social anxiety disorder (SAD)   who have difficulty speaking in front of a group or telling a story among friends.

Public Speaking Tips

If you have SAD and need to give a speech  in elementary school, high school, college, or university, it helps to be as prepared as possible . Beyond preparation, however, there are strategies that you can use to reduce anxiety and fight the urge to stay home with a fake illness.

Even great speakers practice their speeches beforehand. Practice out loud with a recording device or video camera and then watch yourself to see how you can improve. If you are feeling brave, practice in front of a friend or family member and ask for feedback.

  • Talk about what you know : If possible, choose a topic for your speech or presentation that you know a lot about and love. Your passion for the topic will be felt by the audience, and you will feel less anxious knowing that you have a lot of experience to draw from when other students ask you questions.
  • Concentrate on your message : When you focus on the task at hand, anxiety is less likely to get out of control. Concentrate on the main message of your speech or presentation and make it your goal to deliver that message to the other students in your class.
  • Grab the audience's attention : Most of your fellow classmates will pay attention for at least the first 20 seconds; grab their attention during those early moments. Start with an interesting fact or a story that relates to your topic.
  • Have one main message : Focus on one central theme and your classmates will learn more. Tie different parts of your talk to the main theme to support your overall message. Trying to cover too much ground can leave other students feeling overwhelmed.

Tell Stories

Stories catch the attention of other students and deliver a message in a more meaningful way than facts and figures. Whenever possible, use a story to illustrate a point in your talk.

Being prepared to speak in public can also be important if you have social anxiety disorder. Feeling confident and prepared to give your speech may help lessen your feelings of anxiety. Some of the things that you can do to prepare include:

  • Visit the room : If you have access to the classroom where you will be speaking outside of class hours, take the time to visit in advance and get used to standing at the front of the room. Make arrangements for any audio-visual equipment and practice standing in the exact spot where you will deliver your speech.
  • Rack up experience : Volunteer to speak in front of your class as often as possible. Be the first one to raise your hand when a question is asked. Your confidence will grow with every public speaking experience.
  • Observe other speakers : Take the time to watch other speakers who are good at what they do. Practice imitating their style and confidence.
  • Organize your talk : Every speech should have an introduction, a body, and a conclusion. Structure your talk so that the other students know what to expect.

Manage Your Anxiety

Taking steps to deal with your feelings of anxiety can also make public speaking easier. Some of the things that you can do:

  • Tell someone about your anxiety : If you are speaking in front of a high school or college class, meet with your teacher or professor and describe your public speaking fears . If you're in elementary or high school, share your fears with your parents, a teacher, or a guidance counselor. Sometimes sharing how you feel can make it easier to overcome stage fright.
  • Visualize confidence : Visualize yourself confidently delivering your speech. Imagine feeling free of anxiety and engaging the students in your class. Although this may seem like a stretch for you now, visualization is a powerful tool for changing the way that you feel. Elite athletes use this strategy to improve performance in competitions.
  • Find a friendly face : If you are feeling anxious, find one of your friends in class (or someone who seems friendly) and imagine that you are speaking only to that person.

Maintain Perspective

Remember that other students are on your side. Think about a time when you have been an audience member and the student delivering the speech or presentation was noticeably nervous. Did you think less of that student? More likely, you felt sympathetic and wanted to make that person more comfortable by smiling or nodding.

Remember—other students generally want you to succeed and feel comfortable. If for some reason the audience is not on your side or you experience bullying or social exclusion, be sure to discuss this with a parent, teacher, or guidance counselor.

Be Confident

Sometimes just knowing what makes a good speech can help you feel more confident. Focus on some of the following elements and practice them before you have to speak in public.

  • Develop your own style : In addition to imitating good speakers, work on developing your own personal style as a public speaker. Integrate your own personality into your speaking style and you will feel more comfortable in front of the class. Telling personal stories that tie into your theme are a great way to let other students get to know you better.
  • Avoid filler words : Words such as "basically", "well", and "um" don't add anything to your speech. Practice being silent when you feel the urge to use one of these words.
  • Vary your tone, volume, and speed : Interesting speakers vary the pitch (high versus low), volume (loud versus soft), and speed (fast versus slow) of their words. Doing so keeps your classmates interested and engaged in what you say.
  • Make the audience laugh : Laughter is a great way to relax both you and the other students in your class, and telling jokes can be a great icebreaker at the beginning of a speech. Practice the timing and delivery of your jokes beforehand and ask a friend for feedback. Be sure that they are appropriate for your class before you begin.
  • Smile : If all else fails, smile. Your fellow classmates will perceive you like a warm speaker and be more receptive to what you have to say.

Don't Apologize

If you make a mistake, don't offer apologies. Chances are that your classmates didn't notice anyway. Unless you need to correct a fact or figure, there is no point dwelling on errors that probably only you noticed.

If you make a mistake because your hands or shaking, or something similar, try to make light of the situation by saying something like, "I wasn't this nervous when I woke up this morning!" This can help to break the tension of the moment.

A Word From Verywell

It's natural to feel frightened the first time you have to speak in front of your class. However, if you fear continues, interferes with your daily life and keeps you awake at night, it may be helpful to see someone about your anxiety.

Try talking to a parent, teacher, or counselor about how you have been feeling. If that doesn't get you anywhere, ask to make an appointment with your doctor. Severe public speaking anxiety is a true disorder that can improve with treatment .

Being a member of the student council can help you help your school. However, it takes hard work to get into the student council . You need to craft a good speech that gives your classmates incentives to vote for you.

Sample Speeches

Writing the Introduction

Step 1 Find an attention-grabbing opening statement.

  • Do not merely start by saying, "My name is ___ and I'm running for student council." Your classmates will already know as much and this is not really a unique statement. There will be time to state the basic information after you've got the class's attention. [1] X Research source
  • You can open with a question. Something like, "If there was one thing you could change about this school, what would it be?" Or a question that adds some humor , like, "I know what you're thinking. Why should I listen to this person?" and then proceed to lay out your credentials. Quotes on leadership, power, and guidance would also make good openings. However, make sure to double-check your sources and especially if you're finding quotes online. Many online quote databases, like Quote Garden or Brainy Quote, sometimes attribute quotes to the wrong sources. [2] X Research source
  • If you're stuck, look up and read famous speeches. You can find many speeches from presidents, world leaders, civil rights activists, and others online. Pay attention to how they opened their speeches and ask yourself, "Was this interesting? Do I want to keep reading/listening? Why?" [3] X Research source

Step 2 State the basics.

  • State your name and grade in school. This may feel somewhat unnecessary if you go to a small school, but it's considered a formality. If you're missing this part of the speech, you may end up looking sloppy in comparison to other students. [5] X Research source
  • State what you want. That is, what you're running for. Do you want to be the president , vice president , treasurer, secretary? Even if you think most students are aware of what position you're running for, make sure you state it here to remind them. [6] X Research source
  • Try to keep this section brief as it's not as important as your qualifications and plans to improve the school . Even one sentence would suffice. For example, "My name is Ramona Hart, I'm in the 11th grade, and I'm running for treasurer of the student council."

Step 3 List your qualifications.

  • Any accomplishments relevant to the position warrant mentioning here. If you're running for secretary, for example, talk about your summer job filing papers in your uncle's law firm. If you're running for student council president, talk about your leadership experience being captain of the swim team. [7] X Research source
  • While this section is important, try to keep it minimal. A couple of sentences laying out your qualifications is enough as the body of your speech is where you should spend the most time. For example, let's go back to the above example. From there, we could say, "I am currently enrolled in advanced placement algebra and I have been an honor roll student for three years. This knowledge of numbers and diligence qualifies me to have responsibility for finances for our student council." [8] X Research source

Writing the Body of the Speech

Step 1 State your main ideas on how to improve the school.

  • You should list your ideas and then expand on them later in the body. It might take a bit of research to figure out what you want to change. Ask around the school, talking to students and teachers, and see where there's room for improvement. What are the concerns of the students? What are people happy with regarding the school? What would they like to see change? Asking these questions can help you get a sense of your audience and community.
  • Remember, you should not make promises you cannot keep. Do not say anything just to get elected. While many students might want gum-chewing policies eliminated or for the lunch period to run twice as long, this is probably not necessary or possible. Try to focus on areas that seem important to keep your school running safely and efficiently. Concerns about things like bullying , academic standards, and extracurricular activities should be your concern over fun and games. [10] X Research source
  • A good opening statement for your body would state the causes important to you and what you plan to do about them. For example, if you were running for president, you could say something like, "I understand we need to improve how we handle bullying, increase interest in extracurricular activities, and expand access to AP courses throughout the school. As your president, I would work to bring in speakers to talk about sensitivity in the classroom, increase advertising for basketball games and quiz bowl tournaments, and start a tutoring program to help students struggling with certain subjects." [11] X Research source

Step 2 Find support for those ideas.

  • Using the school library or computers, figure out the best means to tackle certain problems many schools face. How have other schools dealt with bullying? Poor test scores? Low interest in extracurricular activities? What can you reasonably do as a student council member to address these problems? [12] X Research source
  • You do not have to have a point-by-point plan laid out, but a few sentences on some preliminary ideas can help you stand out from your peers. People are more inclined to vote for someone who's thought about how to solve problems in addition to identifying problems. [13] X Research source

Step 3 Keep your ideas short but very strongly worded.

Ending with a Strong Conclusion

Step 1 Reiterate your main points briefly.

  • Do summarize, briefly, your qualifications but do not put the main focus on them. This is where you should sincerely state your passion. Students should not just vote for you because you'd do a good job but because you genuinely care about the school. State your passion for your community and how much you want to see other students succeed. Lots of students have high qualifications. You can set yourself apart by being a candidate who really cares. [16] X Research source

Step 3 Ask the audience for their vote.

  • Research what other student council speeches are like on video websites. This could help give you ideas.

While exploring persuasive English speech topics, you must make sure that they are stimulating, engaging, concise and clear. There are three main types of Persuasive Speech topics which are:

1. Factual Persuasive Speech : These topics include facts, figures and statistics to thoroughly analyse the given topic and assess whether it’s true or false.

2. Policy Persuasive Speech : Discussing policies, laws and reforms, these speech topics critically examine the advantages and disadvantages of the given policy or law and suggest the improvements that can be made.

3. Value Persuasive Speech : Mainly focusing on social or political issues, these speech topics present the critique and argument of whether certain actions are morally right or not.

While speaking on a particular topic, there are certain things that you must keep in mind to make your speech expressive and effective. Let’s take a look at some useful topics that help you in acing any topic you are speaking on.

tips for writing and speaking

  • Always research the topic. If you are participating in an extempore, then make sure to go through the common and popular topics as well as the unconventional ones that you might get. Preparation is the key to delivering an impressive speech.
  • Whether you are given a topic on the spot or you are prepared for the speech, it is always pivotal that you seem interested in speaking about it. Relate the given issues to your own life and this will help you in giving it your twist.
  • Pay extra attention to your body language and enunciation. While a gesticulative approach will make you seem outward, having timid body language can cause a wrong impression.
  • Ponder upon the different viewpoints on a topic . Try to present a holistic view of the given topic but don’t forget to present your opinion on it as well. Along with this, don’t try to take sides unless the topic demands you to.
  • Involve your audience, if possible. This way, you will be able to interact with the people and it will also be useful in fighting the fear of public speaking.
  • Don’t mug up a speech. It becomes evident when someone just speaks on a topic continuously and the audience might realise that you have memorized it or you might forget a certain part which will let the whole speech fade away from your brain.
  • Instead, make notes about the topic in your mind, remember certain keywords and try to maintain a particular flow in your speech.
  • Incorporate humour in your speech in a way that you do not offend anyone or overdo it but get a positive reaction from the audience. Humour is a great way of lightening the mood as well as ensuring the whole speech is interactive and engaging.
  • When you need more specialized assistance, a  US essay writing service  can be a valuable resource for crafting your speech.

Juvenile delinquency is acceptable. Prostitution should be legal. Underage driving should be punishable by law. Beauty pageants for children should be banned. Prisoner’s right to vote. Voting rights should not be universal. Guns should be banned from college campuses.

A three-minute speech is undoubtedly a wonderful starting point for public speaking. This is because you need to communicate with your audience more effectively when you just have a short amount of time. In addition, the speech ought to be concise, pertinent, and clear.

Life is the gift of God in the form of trust that we will make it meaningful in whatever we can. We are all unique individuals. No one is born like you and no one will ever be, so cherish your individuality. Many times, I come across people accusing God of things that they don’t have. They always cursing their lives.

2-minute speeches are  short and crisp speeches of about 260-350 words .
