Short Speech on Save Tiger in English for Students and Children

Good morning! Respected Principal, teachers and my dear companions, I stand before you to speak on the topic – Save Tiger . Perhaps the most beautiful of God’s creations are the birds and animals of the world. And among the most ferocious of these, is the proud tiger. This creature is also the national animal of India.

Tiger is a wild animal found in deep forests, wildlife centuries and now in zoos as well. They are helpful in maintaining the ecosystem as they are carnivorous in nature.

But it is really sad to say, that we are only left with few. Saving them is the only option left. Save tiger was an initiative taken by the government of India in 1973 to put a ban on illegal hunting and poaching of tigers.

As hunting of tigers was a favourite pastime for kings. Tigers started decreasing in number. The truth is that they are on the verge of extinction. They are also becoming less in number due to deforestation because people cut down trees to fulfil their needs but they often forget that they are destroying the habitat of many.

Saving them has become a matter of concern for many parts of the world. If the tigers go extinct the whole system will be disturbed. The need of the hour is that such beautiful and royal species should be preserved and protected if we don’t want to hear them in stories like dinosaurs.

We as students should also help the government in spreading awareness among people and also work towards protecting our environment. A proper check on tigers should be done in both forests and zoos by the government. Tigers are one of a kind, so please keep them in mind.

The existence of the most fascinating and fierce cat family member is in danger. The number of tigers in India is gradually decreasing with passing time. Tiger is an endangered species that can soon be extinct if not taken care of. Since we know that tigers are at the top of the food chain, there will be a certain imbalance without tigers. Men are constantly cutting down forests for the progress of humankind, which is threatening the existence and survival of the tigers. But, the leading cause of extinction is poaching, as their body parts are in huge demand on the black market. Project Tiger was launched in the year 1973 by the Indian government to save and protect the tigers. We celebrate International Tiger Day on 29th July every year to spread awareness about protecting tigers.

Here is a sample essay for class 1, 2 and 3 kids to help them write a short essay on saving tigers. This will give them an overall idea about constructing such essays and keep them informed about the topic.

The tiger is declared as the national animal of India. Tigers play an integral role in the diversification of the ecosystem. Yet, in the past century, their population has drastically decreased by more than 90 percent. Historically, hunting down tigers was part of sports and was considered bravery, and tiger skin used to be displayed in old palaces to prove one’s bravery. The main reason behind extinction is hunting tigers down for their skin, which is in great demand in international and black markets. The extinction of tigers can lead to an unprotected ecosystem which will hamper the food chain. This reason is compelling enough to save tigers from going extinct. The Indian government launched a project to save the tiger by restoring safe environments for the tigers. Currently, we have around 2,967 tigers in India. Hopefully, this project and others will increase the existing number of tigers. We celebrate International Tiger Day on 29th July every year to spread awareness about protecting tigers.

Children need to learn to write an extended essay for class 3 on saving tigers to have a deeper understanding of the topic. Knowing more about saving tigers will also help them become responsible citizens. Therefore, here is a sample long essay that can guide children to write essays on this topic.

Tigers are the largest members of the cat family. They are known for their speed, fierceness, orange and black striped skin, and undoubtedly unforgiving nature against prey. There is a threat looming on their existence as tiger populations and habitats have decreased due to poaching, deforestation, and other human activities. The tiger is the national animal of India, and we must spread awareness regarding its existence. Therefore, we celebrate International Tiger Day on 29th July every year to spread awareness about protecting tigers.

Why Is There A Need To Save Tigers?

Tigers are unique animals that play an integral part in the diversity of our ecosystem. A healthy ecosystem supplies people and nature with food, fresh water, and health. Protecting wild tigers and their habitats can benefit numerous species and millions of people. As tigers prey on herbivores, the balance between the forest vegetation that they eat and the prey animals is perfectly maintained.

Causes of Decrease In Tiger Population

Tigers are one of the most important animals that are highly threatened on this planet. In ancient times, hunting a tiger was considered to be a very brave thing to do. Many old palaces now have pictures of tiger hunts and displays of tiger skin. As new laws against killing and hunting tigers were passed, instances of tiger hunting came down. In recent times, tigers have been brutally poached by black marketers and their agents for the tiger skin, which is quite in demand in the international market. This skin is used to make rugs, clothes, etc. Deforestation is also another reason for the sudden steep decrease of these cat species in recent years.

How We Can Save Tigers?

The Government of India launched a project to save the tigers and to restore safe environments for the tigers. This project was introduced in the Jim Corbett National park, which focuses on the preservation and increase in the number of tigers. Tigers are declared to be the national animal of India to mark the act of poaching as an unpatriotic and punishable offence. Even though laws are introduced, enforcing laws is essential, and this needs dedicated officers to look after the tigers. Moreover, we should be aware of contributing to saving tigers so that the balance of the ecosystem is maintained. Given below are some points that can help in saving tigers:

  • Stop deforestation as the jungle is the tiger’s natural habitat
  • Say no to poaching, as it is the main reason behind the decline in tigers
  • Don’t buy animal skin clothing to discourage poaching and illegal hunting

Children will learn about the importance of saving tigers. They will grow up to be responsible and aware citizens who will take the necessary steps to maintain the balance of the ecosystem. They will also be able to gather a lot of information about tigers, their importance in nature, and how to increase their number. This will help them develop a better perspective about the topic and make informed decisions in the future.

We need to educate our kids regarding such crucial topics so they can make better decisions regarding the environment and wildlife.

A recent study shows that the tiger population has gone down by 97 percent. In 1900, more than 100,000 tigers were estimated to roam the planet, but that fell to a record low of 3,200 globally in 2010. Short Essay on Save Tigers in 100 Words

Tigers are one of the apex predators in nature. They are on the top of the food chain and keep the population of herbivores like deers, buffaloes, etc., in check. In recent years, the population of tigers has greatly declined due to the destruction of their natural habitat as well as illegal wildlife trade and poaching. This is bound to disturb the ecological balance in nature.

Tigers are listed as an “endangered” species while subspecies are listed as “critically endangered”. Today, governments of various countries are taking measures to ensure the safety and survival of tigers. In India, there are many national parks and reserves where tigers are kept away from harm. We need to raise awareness and implement better laws to save the tigers and keep them safe.

Short Essay on Save Tigers in 200 Words

Tiger is the largest living cat species in the world. Tigers are apex predators who sit on the top of the food chain and eat animals like deer, buffalo, moose and goats. This keeps the population of such animals in check and hence, the ecosystem stays balanced.

In recent years, the population of tigers has greatly declined because of deforestation, loss of habitat, poaching, illegal wildlife trade as well as increased contact with humans. The loss of habitat and scarcity of food forces the tigers living in forests to venture out into the villages surrounding the forests which in turn poses a threat to the humans. This leads to the tigers being killed.

The population of tigers has declined to such an extent that now, tigers are globally listed as an “endangered” species. We humans don’t own this planet. Earth is home to millions of animals, plants and other organisations and it is our duty to make sure that those living beings don’t suffer because of our own selfish needs.

Today, governments of different countries are taking special measures to protect tigers and keep them safe. In India, harsher laws have been implemented to stop poaching and illegal trade. National parks and reserves have also been established where tigers can live safely in their natural environment. We must spread awareness and implement better laws to save our tigers and keep them safe.

Short Essay on Save Tigers in 400 Words

A tiger is a wild animal which belongs to the cat family. It is the largest living cat species in the world. Tiger is one of the apex predators who sit on the top of the food chain and eat animals like moose, pig, deer, cow, water buffalo, moose and goats. This keeps the population of such animals in check and hence, the natural ecosystem stays balanced.

However, in recent years, the population of tigers in their natural habitat has greatly declined. This is due to various reasons such as deforestation, which leads to the loss of their habitat, scarcity of food, poaching, illegal wildlife trade as well as increased contact with humans, ultimately leading to the tigers being killed.

The population of tigers has declined to such an extent that now, tigers are globally listed as an “endangered” species. A certain subspecies of tigers have even been listed as “critically endangered”. A large number of people do not care about environmental and ecological issues and so, these issues are not talked about as much. But it is time for all of us to understand that we do not own this planet.

Earth is home not only to humans but also to millions of different animals and plants. If we keep harming the ecosystem for our selfish gains, the balance of nature will soon be destroyed and then, we humans wouldn’t be able to survive as well.

Today, governments of various countries are trying to implement better measures to preserve wildlife, including tigers. In India, many new and strict laws have been implemented to dissuade the poachers from killing tigers or trafficking them. National parks and reserves like Jim Corbett national park are also designed to provide a safe environment for tigers to live and breed.

These measures have definitely improved the condition of the species but there’s a lot more that still needs to be done. Because of loss of habitat and scarcity of food, tigers often venture out of the forest and into the surrounding villages.

This leads to panic and the tigers are usually captured and killed. The government must take proper steps to ensure that the natural ecosystems are in balance and also ensure that the villages which line the forest are well-secured. For this, awareness must be raised amongst people regarding the issues. Research must also be conducted on tigers to understand what strategies must be implemented to conserve the species.

Tigers are magnificent animals. They are an integral part of our natural ecosystem and it is our duty to do our best to protect them.

Save Tiger | Short Essay for Children & Students

December 3, 2017 by Study Mentor Leave a Comment

God has created different creatures in the world. We name them as human beings. We name them as animals. We name them as reptiles and a lot more. Not only they have the right to live but also has the right to exist. Every living creature is unique. Every creature is different from the other.

This is, what is the specialty of so many existing species. We have different varieties. It enhances the beauty of the world. Diversity is beauty. We have different animals all over the world. It is said that only half of the species has been discovered. There are a lot more to be discovered.

One such wonderful creation of God is tiger. Tiger is a very ferocious animal. It is a delight to watch. This animal is also termed as the national animal of India. It is of two types. First category is with orange and black strips. The other one is with white and black strip.

Both the categories of tiger are beautiful. It feels great to watch them. They are the strongest animals of the world. They live on land. They live in the dark, dense forest. They are nocturnal. Nocturnal is, they feed at night. They do their hunting at night.

They are carnivorous animals. They feed on animals for their food. They are great hunters. It becomes very hard for the animals to escape from them. They have four legs and a magnificent look. They are great runners. They run at a great speed.

This is one of the reasons why animals cannot escape from tigers. They hunt even the bigger animals. Elephants are known to be the biggest animal. The tigers are not even scared of them. They can attack them too. They make their prey the deer. It is the most common and easiest prey for them. They attack buffaloes and many other animals.

Every animal is unique. All the animals have their own importance. They are a part of eco-system. Their creation must be because of any reason. The sad part is, many animals are on the verge of extinction. They are depleting day by day. They are growing lesser in number.

This is not a good sign. Their existence matters. They have been created to exist in this world. They are a part of this world. They are a part of this eco-system. We need to protect them. We must preserve them. It is high time to take steps. It is important to discuss and perform.

save tiger essay

People should be made aware of the fact. They should be updated about the present scenario. It is not only the responsibility of the government to perform. It is the responsibility of the people too. Every- body must do the needful thing. The number of tiger left in India is just 389. This is very disappointing and sad.

There are number of causes for their depletion. One major cause is deforestation. Tiger lives in the forest. It is their dwelling place. They are habituated to live there. They are familiar to that kind of environment. We, the humans are cutting down the trees.

The cutting down is at greater speed. The trees are used for various purposes. The wood is used for making papers. It is used in the furniture. It has various usage. It is due to this very reason that they are losing their ground. They move out on the roads. They have lost their natural habitat. When they move out on the road or in the nearby villages, people get scared.

They to protect themselves harm them. They tend to kill them. It is very saddening. They are getting killed for no reason. It is natural for them to go in the search of place. They too need shelter. They have their life. God has created them and their place to live too.

It is the demands of humans because of which these animals are suffering. Their depleting number has become the matter of great concern. It is not only the case of India but also throughout the world. There are various programs introduced to save tigers.

The focus is now on the preservation of remaining tigers. What is lost can -not be regained. Similarly, the number of tigers lost can-not come back. There are various ways of protecting them. One such method is to preserve them in the zoo. The zoological parks. There are kept under the government system. People can go there to see the animals. This is the one way to preserve them.

The other method is by declaring particular part of forest as reserved. The animals are not taken to the zoo. They are preserved on their own land. All the other practices are restricted there. There is no hunting, no cutting down of forest and so many other things.

This one of the most effective methods. The animals don’t have to suffer the change of the environment. They are comfortable in their natural habitat.  It is difficult to build forest but easy to plant trees. We can plant more and more trees. We can preserve their natural habitat.

  • Panthera (United with the Save the Tigers Fund)
  • World Wildlife Fund
  • Smithsonian Tiger Conservation Fund
  • International Fund for Animal Welfare
  • Big Cat Rescue
  • National Tiger Sanctuary
  • Sadly, there are plenty of scams out there that take advantage of the plight of the tigers. You can choose a one time donation or a monthly donation.

Step 2 Adopt a tiger.

  • Your money will go towards creating reserves for tigers, protection from poachers, and other WWF conservation work.
  • In addition to knowing that you are helping this special creature, you also receive a photo and information card of the tiger you are helping to save, along with a plush version of your tiger.

Step 3 Visit zoos accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

  • For a list of accredited zoos and aquariums that you can visit or donate to, visit the Association of Zoos and Aquariums website. [2] X Research source
  • These zoos keep their animals, including their tigers, in excellent living conditions, and are doing what they can to support the healthy breeding of animals on the endangered list.
  • You can also visit wildlife sanctuaries that do not let visitors handle their animals and do not participate in breeding. There are also wildlife rehabilitators, universities working on establishing wild animals, and some traveling circuses that meet all of the requirements of the Animal Welfare Act.
  • If you are not sure of the status of a zoo or wildlife area you are hoping to visit, run an internet search on the institution.

Step 4 Volunteer at a tiger sanctuary.

  • You can run an internet search to explore options near you.
  • Some of the most prominent sanctuaries that accept volunteers include the National Tiger Sanctuary and Big Cat Rescue. You can also try a GoEco program.

Step 5 Travel to a tiger reserve.

  • They rely on the income from tourism to help pay for part of their expenses. Tourism also brings money to the area where the reserve is located, which in turn inspires support for the reserve from the local community.
  • Do some research on the tour company before you fly off to visit the tiger reserve or national park.

Step 1 Attend fundraising events for tiger and wildlife organizations.

  • Run an internet search to find out if there are any events happening in your area.

Step 2 Support legislation for survival of tigers.

  • An amendment to the Captive Wildlife Safety Act, effectively ending the private breeding of big cats like tigers, as well as lions, leopards, and cheetahs. It is estimated that over 10,000 big cats are kept in bad conditions throughout the United States. [5] X Research source
  • Penalties for violators of the Act. If someone is abusing or badly mistreating their animals, the Act calls for up to $20,000 in fines and a jail sentence of up to five years, during which time the animals would be confiscated and rehabilitated.
  • There is an online letter that you can send to your representative. You will find this drafted letter here .

Step 3 Sign petitions to save tigers and wildlife.

  • You can find petitions through petition websites like change.org and tiger conservation websites.

Step 4 Stay informed about tigers and conservation issues.

  • These emails will update you on the new challenges being faced, the steps being taken to help, and the victories being won.

Step 5 Spread awareness about tigers and conservation through social media.

  • You can also follow your favorite tiger organizations on Facebook, Twitter, or any of the other various platforms out there.

Step 1 Buy products from sustainable companies.

  • One way that you can help is by purchasing your goods from companies that only implement sustainable practices. You can also purchase 100% post-consumer recycled paper.
  • Look for paper and wood products that are approved by the international Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). The goal of the FSC is to improve forest practices and therefore end deforestation, around the world. [10] X Research source

Step 2 Buy sustainable palm oil.

  • Look for products with the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) trademark.

Step 3 Buy sustainable coffee.

  • Sustainable brands will have a certification on the box from an independent certifier, like Fair Trade, Rainforest Alliance, or UTZ Certified.

Step 4 Avoid purchasing tiger products.

  • Do not buy any traditional medicine that is made from tiger parts, such as tiger bone. Today some chemists still use tiger bone, even though it is illegal and the main part of the reason tigers are endangered. [14] X Research source
  • Poachers hunt these beautiful creatures illegally, so much so that there are now only an estimated 3,200 tigers left in the wild.

Save Tigers: Short Essay on ‘Save Tigers’

Category: Essays and Paragraphs On December 6, 2018 By Various Contributors

Save Tigers – Short Essay 1

Tigers are unique animals, and they play an integral role in the diversity of the ecosystem .

Today, tigers are endangered, and their extinction would demonstrate an unprotected ecosystem that would also not exist for a long time after that. So, the question now lies, “What would happen if tigers suffer extinction?” Let’s take the example of Dodos, a species that suffered extinction in Mauritius. When that happened, a species of the Acacia trees stopped regenerating entirely. This means that when a specific species suffer the fate of extinction, it does not do so without leaving behind a scar, thereby affecting the ecosystem in its entirety. This is another compelling reason to save tigers from going extinct. Below are astonishing facts.

Saving tigers has become the necessity of the hour if we want to protect wildlife, of which a tiger is a big symbol .

In the past century, the tiger population has gone down by 97 percent .

Project save tiger was an effort to restore the safe environments of tigers which are numbered at around 3000 currently.

The Jim Corbett National park where this project was introduced is the most significant tiger reserve in India focused on preserving the tiger.

The objective of that project was to increase the number of tigers that presently exist.

Historically hunting tiger was seen as a thing of pride and bravery. Even now many old palaces seem to boat pictures of a tiger hunt and sometimes even display the tiger skin. Due to laws against hunting many instances of tiger hunting has come down.

Tiger has been declared the national animal of India to so that even one instance of tiger poaching or hunting will be seen as an unpatriotic act and the punishment is severe.

Save tiger has a special place of importance for India as a land of Tigers and we must be committed to it. It is not just about protecting a beautiful animal. We should contribute to saving the lives of tigers so that we can also live just a little longer, thanks to the ecological services provided by forests such as clean air, temperature regulation, and water.

Save tiger – Short Essay 2

Save Tigers is a movement for saving the tiger species from extinction in India. Project Tiger started in 1973 in response to the dwindling number of tigers in the last century.

Starting from about 40,000 tigers that roamed at the beginning of the 20 th century, to 1,706 in 2011 as the number given by the National Tiger Conservation Authorities (NTCA), the population of the national animal of India has drastically diminished.

The Tiger is a special animal of the cat family being the largest in that class. It’s mainly found in countries such as India Malaysia, Bangladesh , and South Korea . The Tiger, as well as its habitat, is under threat of extinction and there it’s the responsibility of everyone to ensure the protection of the species.

Why save Tiger?

Tiger is a majestic predator who heads the food chain. It keeps the species down that chain in control. If it goes extinct, we not only stand to lose a beautiful beast but also upset the food chain possibly irrevocably.

The fact that the number has gone down so drastically is an indicator that we are not able to protect them and their habitat for them to thrive. As against the natural course of extinction of a species, this is the human work mischief.

Ways of saving the tiger

As done by the Convention of International Trade of Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), the illegal trade of tiger parts must be banned. Secondly, the Wildlife Protection Act prevents poaching of Tigers. The World Wide Fund generates resources to spread awareness of the need to Save Tigers. There are also many other natural ways of saving t he tiger.

  • This includes maintaining and taking care of the habitats of the tigers for example by not polluting the environment in which they live in.
  • Tourists who visit the reserved areas of the tigers should be responsible by strictly adhering to the guidelines laid out in those places.
  • The government should come up with measures that aim at ensuring the Tigers are protected from people who may cause harm to the Tigers, for example, the poachers.
  • This can be done by instituting stiff penalties to those caught harming or killing Tigers.
  • The members of the community can also create awareness about the importance of preserving the habitats as well as the tigers themselves.

Causes of extinction

  • The biggest cause of the number of Tigers going down is poaching. Illegal hunting of this animal for trade purposes is widespread.
  • Another reason is the loss of habitat due to urbanization. Tigers need an enormous area for free roaming to be able to reproduce. By taking over their habitat and also by fragmenting that habitat, the Tigers no longer reproduce at the same rate.

Tigers as a species must be conserved at all costs since it is apparent that it is not yet in the line for natural extinction. It will cause a major imbalance in the Ecosystem. However, with a combined effort from the government the community as well as other stakeholders, the process of saving the tiger from extinction as well as ensuring its habitat is protected could be a success.
