आप जो बिजनेस कर रहे हैं या करना चाहते हैं उसमें क्या Opportunity है ? कौन सा Problem है ? और उसे आप किस तरह Solve करने वाले हैं ? इसकी आपको Short में जानकारी देनी है। 

साथ ही अगर आप Bank से Loan प्राप्त करना चाहते हैं तो वह कितना चाहिए और किस लिए चाहिए इसकी जानकारी भी आपको यहां देनी है।

2. Company Description

इस Section में आपको अपनी कंपनी की या व्यवसाय की जानकारी देनी है। आप नीचे दिए गए Points के अनुसार जानकारी लिख सकते हैं।

• आपके कंपनी का नाम क्या है ?
• आपके कंपनी का या व्यवसाय का प्रकार क्या है ? – यदि आप कंपनी के प्रकार जानना चाहते हैं तो Types of Company In Hindi इस पोस्ट को पढ़े।
• आपका बिजनेस मॉडल क्या है ?
• आपका बिजनेस कैसे काम करता है ?
• आपके कंपनी का इतिहास क्या है ? – जैसे कि आपकी कंपनी कब शुरू हुई थी ? कंपनी ने इससे पहले क्या किया है ?
• कंपनी का Goal या Mission Statement क्या है ? – यह आपको एक सेंटेंस में बताना है

इस सेक्शन में आप कौन से Products और Services देने वाले हैं ? या दे रहे है उसकी जानकारी देनी है। यह जानकारी देते समय आपको अपने कस्टमर के दृष्टिकोण से सोचने की आवश्यकता है।

• आपका Products क्या है ?
• वह कौन सा Problem Solve कर रहा है ?
• किस तरह से Solve करेगा या कर रहा है ?  

यह आपको बताना है।

इसी के साथ आपके Product की Price क्या है ? यह भी आपको बताना है। 

आपका Pricing Model क्या है ? और आपका Profit Margin क्या है ? यह भी बताना है

आप खुद प्रोडक्ट को Manufacture करते हैं या किसी कार के द्वारा Manufacture कराते हैं यह आपको बताना है।

4. Marketing plan ( मार्केटिंग प्लान )

किसी भी बिजनेस में सफल होने के लिए सबसे जरूरी चीज होती है मार्केटिंग और इसलिए आपको अपने बिजनेस के मार्केटिंग की प्लानिंग करना बहुत जरूरी है।

आपके मार्केटिंग के प्लान में नीचे दिए गए Points होना जरूरी है।

Market Research – बिजनेस शुरू करने से पहले आपको अपने मार्केट का रिसर्च करना आवश्यक होता है।

आप जो Product मार्केट में बेच रहे हैं उसका मार्केट कितना बड़ा है ? उस मार्केट में कितनी कंपटीशन है ? उस मार्केट का भविष्य कैसा है ?  यह सभी जानकारी और उससे संबंधित आंकड़े आपको यह देने हैं। 

आप यह आंकड़े ऑनलाइन Google से भी प्राप्त कर सकते हैं। लेकिन कुछ चीजों का आपको स्वयं रिसर्च करना होगा।

Target Customer – आपको आपके टारगेट कस्टमर कौन है यह पता होना अत्यंत जरूरी होता है।  बहुत से लोगों को उनके Target Customer कौन है यह पता नहीं होता।  यदि आप उनसे पूछते हैं कि आपके टारगेट कस्टमर कौन हैं तो वह आपको बताएंगे की – हर कोई। 

हर कोई इंसान आप का टारगेट कस्टमर कभी नहीं होता।  उदाहरण के लिए यदि आप महिलाओं के कपड़े बेच रहे हैं तो आपके टारगेट कस्टमर है – महिलाएं

आपके जो कोई टारगेट कस्टमर है उनकी सभी जानकारी आपके पास होनी आवश्यक होती है जैसे कि

• Income Source
• Buying Habits

Competitive Analysis –

बिजनेस करते समय आपके पास अपने स्पर्धकों की संपूर्ण जानकारी होनी आवश्यक है जैसे कि

• आपके स्पर्धक ( Competitor ) कौन है ?
• उनकी Strength क्या है ?
• उनकी Weakness क्या है? 
• उनके Product की Price क्या है ? 
• उनकी मार्केटिंग Strategy क्या है ?
• आपके और उनके बिज़नेस में क्या अंतर है ? 
• आपके और उनके Product में क्या समानताएं हैं और क्या भिन्नताएं हैं ?

Competitive Advantage – लगभग हर बिजनेस में Competition होती है और अगर आप अपने Competition को हराना चाहते हैं तो आपके पास Competitive Advantage होना चाहिए।

तो फिर आपके पास कौन सा Competitive Advantage है ? यह आपको बताना है। आपका कस्टमर आपके Competition की बजाए, आपके पास क्यों आए ? यह आपको Explain करना है।

Positioning – इस बिजनेस में आप वास्तव में किस क्षेत्र में काम करने जा रहे हैं ?, आपकी पहचान क्या होगी ?, आप की Positioning क्या होगी ?

चलो इसे थोड़ा और समझते है – 

Business में आप सब कुछ नहीं कर सकते। आपको केवल किसी एक क्षेत्र में Expert  होने की आवश्यकता होती है

जैसे कि अगर आप किसी Health की समस्या को हल करने जा रहे हैं तो आप की Positioning एक Health Brand ऐसी होगी

यदि आपका Product केवल महिलाओं के लिए है तो आपकी Positioning उसी तरह से होगी। लोग आपको उसी के लिए जानेंगे। 

आपके Business की किस में में Expertise है ? या फिर लोग आपको किस क्षेत्र का Expert या Specialist माने ?

Method of Marketing  – आप अपने Product या Services की मार्केटिंग किस तरह करने वाले हैं ? इसकी जानकारी आपको यहां पर देनी है जैसे कि

बिजनेस करते समय मार्केटिंग के लिए एक अलग बजट निर्धारित करना बहुत जरूरी होता है और इसलिए आपको यहां पर आपके मार्केटिंग का बजट क्या है यह बताना है।

5. Operational Plan

यहां पर आपको आपके बिज़नेस के Operations के प्लानिंग की जानकारी देनी है।

Staffing – आपको किस तरह के श्रमिकों की और Employees की आवश्यकता है ? कितने श्रमिकों की या Employees की आवश्यकता है ? आप उन्हें किस प्रकार का प्रशिक्षण देंगे ? उन्हें कितना पेमेंट देंगे ? इसकी जानकारी आपको यहां पर देनी है। 

Production – अगर आप Manufacturing कर रहे हैं तो आपके Production की Process क्या है ? उसके लिए आपको कौन से मशीनरी की आवश्यकता है और कौन से अन्य चीजों की आवश्यकता है ? उसकी जानकारी आपको यहां पर देनी है

Location – यदि आपको आपके बिजनेस के लिए Physical Location की आवश्यकता है तो उसकी जानकारी आपको यहां पर देनी है जैसे कि उसका किराया कितना होगा ? उसकी Maintenance Cost कितनी होगी ?

Legal Environment – आपके बिजनेस के लिए आपको कौन से लाइसेंस ,ट्रेडमार्क, कॉपीराइट Insurance की आवश्यकता होगी ? इसकी जानकारी आपको यहां पर देनी है

Raw Material & Inventory – इस बिजनेस के लिए अगर आपको Raw Material या Inventory की जरूरत है तो यहां पर उसकी जानकारी आपको देनी है। 

Suppliers & Vendors – यदि आप अपने बिजनेस के लिए कोई Suppliers और Vendors ( विक्रेता ) का उपयोग करते हैं तो उसका विवरण आपको यहां देना है। 

Payment Terms -आप कस्टमर से पेमेंट किस तरह लेते हैं ? उसकी जानकारी आपको यहां पर देनी है जैसे कि अगर आप उधारी पर प्रोडक्ट्स देते हैं तो उसकी जानकारी देनी है और फिर उस उधारी को किस तरह वसूला जाता है उसकी भी जानकारी यहां पर देनी है।

6. Management Team

यहां आपको आपके टीम की जानकारी देनी है।  एक मजबूत और अच्छी टीम के बिना आप किसी भी बिजनेस में आगे नहीं बढ़ सकते। 

• आपके टीम के सदस्य कौन हैं ?
• उनका नाम क्या है ?
• वह किस में Expert है ?
• उनके Resumes की Summary आपको यहां पर देनी है।

7. Budget & Expenses

यहां पर आपको आपके बजट और खर्चों के बारे में जानकारी देनी है जैसे कि व्यवसाय शुरू करने के लिए आपको कितना पैसा लगा या लगने वाला है ?

व्यवसाय शुरू करते समय हम जितना सोचते हैं उससे अधिक पैसों की जरूरत होती है इसलिए आपको इन Extra Funds को भी पहले से ही ध्यान में रखना चाहिए

Business शुरू शुरू करते समय आपको दो प्रकार के Expenses ध्यान में रखने हैं सबसे पहला है Capital Expenses और दूसरा है Operating Expenses

आप जब शुरुआत में एक बिजनेस शुरू करते हो तो उसके लिए जो Upfront लागत की आवश्यकता होती है उसे Capital Expenses कहा जाता है जैसे कि मशीनरी खरीदना, जगह खरीदना, फर्नीचर खरीदना

वैसे ही किसी बिजनेस को Operte करने के लिए जो पैसा लगता है उसे Operating Expenses कहा जाता है जैसे कि Day-To-Day Transaction, दुकान का किराया, लाइट बिल, Workers की पेमेंट

इन दोनों खर्चों को आपको यहां पर बताना है।

साथ ही में यदि किसी ने आपके बिजनेस में पहले से Invest ( निवेश ) किया है तो उसकी भी जानकारी आपको यहां देनी है। 

यदि आपने किसी बैंक से Loan लिया है तो उस के भी Dtails आपको यहां पर देने हैं।

साथ में आपके बिजनेस के जितने भी Owners ( मालिक )  है उन सभी की कितनी Assets ( संपत्ति ) है और कितनी Liabilities ( देयता ) है यह आपको बताना है।

अगर आप बैंक में Loan के लिए आवेदन कर रहे हैं तो आपको उसके भी Details यहां पर देने हैं जैसे कि आपको कितना लोन चाहिए ? किस लिए चाहिए ?

8. Financial Plan

यहां आपको अपनी Financial Planning की जानकारी देनी है। Financial Planning में नीचे दिए गए तीन Points की जानकारी आपको देनी चाहिए। 

Cash Flow Statement – Financial Planning का यह एक महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सा है। यहां आपको जानकारी देनी है कि आपके बिजनेस में कितनी Cash आती है और कितनी Cash बाहर जाती है।

अगर आपके पास Cash Flow Statement नहीं है तो आप आपके बिजनेस में कितनी कैश आएगी और जाएगी इसका अनुमान ( Projection ) दे सकते हैं।

Profit & Loss Projection – यहां पर आपको आपके बिजनेस के Profit और Loss की जानकारी देनी है।

भविष्य में आपके बिजनेस से कितना Profit होगा और कहां से होगा ? इसकी जानकारी आपको यहां देनी है।

Balance Sheet Projection – यहां आपको अपने बिजनेस की Assets और Liability के बारे में जानकारी देनी है

Assets जैसे की जमीन, मशीनरी, रियल एस्टेट, फर्नीचर

Liability जैसे कि बैंक लोन, बिल की पेमेंट

आप कितना Revenue Expect कर रहे हैं ?

आप कितनी Expenses Expect कर रहे हैं ?

9. Sales Plan

यहां आपको आपकी पिछली और अभी की Sales कितनी है ? या फिर भविष्य में आप कितनी Sales Expect कर रहे हैं ? और वह Sale कहां से आएगी ? इसकी जानकारी देनी है।

This first part should consist of two main parts, being:

• Mission Statement (Introduction): a 1 line company description only the essence of your hotel (not 2 lines or a paragraph). Information on the current industry trends and the current state of the market and how this will impact your hotel. This is needed as investors want to be sure you really understand the hotel industry. This acts as the foundation on which decisions such as trends and developments to follow will be based.

5. Competitive Analysis

A study of your local competition or global concept competitors, with each of their strengths, weaknesses, occupancy rates and market share ( SWOT analysis ). And don’t forget the most important part; what differentiates you from them. What makes you stand out?

Ask yourself: “can I add value to a specific area”, especially when it comes to hotel-dense areas like city centres or major destinations.

6. Strategic Plan

This exists of 3 parts:

• Marketing : How exactly will you attract customers/guests? How will you position yourself? What will your message be to the different segments of your business mix? How will your direct marketing work? What will be the plan for your hotel website, SEO, SEM and SMM? Will you do offline promotion? In short, your hotel marketing strategy should cover everything there is to know about how to market your hotel.
• Distribution : Which 3rd party channels will you use and how will you manage availability? What technology will you need?
• Revenue management : What pricing and yield techniques will you use? What will your payment and cancellation policies be? Which room types will you be selling, and how will they be individually marketed? How many revenue scenarios will I create? Where can I compensate income/demand streams when necessary?

Make sure you have the capabilities to plan out a strong marketing, distribution and revenue management strategy. 

Things get complicated rather fast, and choosing to outsource hotel and revenue management is likely to give you a strategic advantage, during the planning phase, and the execution of your business plans.

7. Operations Plan

How will you run your hotel? Think of the following elements:

• How many staff and supervisors will you need? 
• What are their job descriptions/responsibilities? 
• What background and experience should they have? 
• When should they start? 
• What are your service standards?
• Will you develop manuals?
• Which supplier will you use?
• How will you manage inventory?

8. Management Team

Include the bios of your team. Focus on what uniquely qualifies you to make your hotel such a success. Having a great team is the key to success , and stakeholders will be impressed with a thorough explanation of the added value everyone brings to the table.

9. Financial Plan

Provide the start-up costs of the hotel (capital investment), the ongoing business costs, operational expenses and revenue projections for the next five years. These figures should be always based on your Hotel Feasibility Study . The KPIs to look at include expected occupancy, ADR (Average Daily Rate) and RevPAR (Revenue per Available Room).

If you are raising money , outline how much funding will be needed and when. Explain how you will generate a return on investment for investors, or when lenders will be paid back.

10. Key Milestones

These are the most important achievements which once they have been completed, will make your hotel more likely to succeed. Think off:

• Location selection
• Permits & Licenses
• Build-out / Construction of the Hotel
• Staffing and Training
• GOP Break-even
• NOI Break-even

Each time one of the key milestones is achieved, the risk of lenders or investors decreases . And once your last key milestone is reached, the chance of success is more or less guaranteed.

11. Appendix

Provide any other relevant information here. Don’t clutter the main sections of your hotel business plan with too many details. Rather support them with attachments in this part.

Health Trade License is obtained from the local health department or Municipal Corporation. 

It gives permission to for performing trade and business specifically for those items having a direct impact on public health. 

If you issue this license, the Municipal Corporation certifies your establishment compiling with hygiene and security standards essential for public health. 

This license is administered by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

What is a hotel business plan?

A hotel business plan is a detailed document that identifies your business’s goals, objectives, and strategies for success. It includes market research and a roadmap for building and operating your business.

Why do you need a hotel business plan?

Studies show that entrepreneurs who finished their business plan were twice as likely to succeed in growing their business than those with no plan. A hotel business plan:

• Helps you identify whether you have a viable business idea
• Provides a detailed roadmap on what you need to accomplish and why
• Gives potential investors insight into your business idea and confidence that you can be successful

10 sections to include in your hotel business plan

Whether you’re starting a small boutique hotel, a cozy B&B, or a 5-star resort, you will need to address the following sections in your hotel business plan.

1. Executive summary

An executive summary is the most essential part of your business plan. It should concisely explain the purpose of your business and why it will be a success.

2. Company analysis

Your company analysis is where you can dive into your hotel’s competitive advantage. Ask yourself what makes your hotel unique . Why would guests want to stay with you instead of your competitors?

In this section, identify your brand’s identity and the goals and objectives you want to accomplish. Outline how many rooms and room categories your property will have. For example, will you offer a hybrid hospitality model with dorms, single rooms, and suites? Explain what ancillary revenue sources you’ll offer, like in-room food and beverage options, welcome drinks, or airport shuttles.

Use storytelling to communicate your excitement and passion and make it clear what your hotel will bring to the hospitality industry that hasn’t been done before.

3. Industry analysis

As a business owner, you must be prepared for forces outside your control. You will need to conduct a market analysis that looks at the hospitality industry to identify micro and macro trends that may impact your business. Look at:

• Economic trends
• Environmental trends
• Political trends
• Global health trends
• Technology trends

For each trend, identify how it will impact your business and ways to mitigate risk or take advantage of opportunities.

For example, digital check-in technology has increased across the hotel industry with the rise of tech-savvy guests, new innovative software providers, and labor challenges. Therefore, consider what guest experience solution you’ll include at your hotel.

In addition to trends, look at the history of the hospitality industry, its current size, and how it’s expected to grow in the short and long term. This research will impact the rest of your plan, especially your marketing and financials.

4. Customer analysis

What type of hotel guests do you want to attract? It’s impossible to please every kind of guest, which is why it’s important to identify your target market . Once you know who you want to stay at your property, you can develop amenities, services, and marketing materials to attract these guests and deliver exceptional experiences .

Ask yourself:

• What type of guests do I want? Business or leisure travelers? Retirees or Gen-Z?
• What demographics? Age, gender, marital status, etc.
• What are my target market’s interests? Water sports, hiking, relaxation, museums, etc.
• What does my target market value? Sustainability, contactless technology, personalized service, localized experiences, etc.

This section will help you formulate the guest experience to ensure that expectations meet reality .

5. Competitive analysis

The competition you face will vary depending on where your hotel is located. In this section, you should conduct in-depth competitor research to understand how your hotel will compare. Identify your five major competitors — ideally, three direct competitors you will be competing with upon opening and two aspirational competitors you can emulate as you grow your business.

Conduct a SWOT analysis based on your competitors to look at:

• Strengths . Where does your property excel in comparison to competitors? Why would travelers pick you? Price, amenities, location, technology, etc.
• Weaknesses . Where does your property fall short in comparison to competitors? Price, amenities, location, technology, etc.
• Opportunities . What industry trends can you take advantage of? What local events or partnerships can you capitalize on?
• Threats . What are the biggest threats facing your property? War, travel restrictions, recession, etc.

A thorough analysis can help solidify your competitive advantage and develop a contingency plan for how you will deal with your weaknesses and threats.

6. Marketing plan

Without demand, there is no business. A hotel marketing plan outlines the channels you’ll use to reach your target audience to drive bookings. Your marketing strategy should include three key channels:

1) Paid media . Paid advertising to promote your property and drive bookings. This includes online travel agencies (OTAs) , search engine marketing (SEM), retargeting, and metasearch advertising.

2) Owned media. The content  you create, like your hotel website , social media channels, blog posts, and SEO.

3) Earned media. User-generated content created by third parties like media coverage or online reviews.

7. Operations plan

How do you plan to run your day-to-day operations? This section of your plan will outline all of the key tasks and responsibilities of your team and what exactly your hotel will offer. Consider:

• The number of staff and supervisors required
• Job descriptions and responsibilities

• How you’ll manage your inventory
• What hotel technology solutions will you need? PMS, channel manager, booking engine, payment terminal, revenue management tools, guest engagement software, etc.
• What services and amenities do you want to offer? Room service, bar, restaurant, pool, spa, wellness center, etc. 

Detail your short and long-term operational plans and the stakeholders involved for each area.

8. Management team

Whether or not you’ve hired your team yet, this is one of the most important sections potential investors will look at. Make sure to outline the key personnel you will require and their roles. 

In general, these are the following roles you’ll want to outline:

• Hotel management (general manager, front office manager, housekeeping manager, maintenance manager, revenue manager)
• Hotel sales team
• Housekeeping staff
• Front office staff
• Maintenance

Depending on the size of your hotel, your team will vary. Identify the team members you need to open and your hiring plans over the next five years.

9. Strategic plan

Hoteliers must be strategic in optimizing occupancy rates across seasons to maintain revenue. As part of your strategic plan, identify how you will manage:

• Pricing – what room types will you offer, and how will the pricing vary?
• How will you maintain consistent occupancy throughout the high and low seasons? Will you adapt your pricing and marketing strategies?
• How will you conduct revenue management ? What type of rules/alerts will you use to adjust rates? Will you use technology to help with revenue management?
• What will your online reputation management strategy be? How will you collect and respond to online reviews?
• What will your distribution mix look like? How will you drive reservations across a variety of channels?

10. Financial plan

Your financial projections are the most challenging but arguably the most crucial part of your hotel business plan. In this section, you should include the following:

• Start-up costs. How much money will you need from lenders to operate your hotel? Consider business licenses, furniture, down payments, etc.

I had troubles booking the hotel until I called the hotel and got their email. From there my experience is great. The hotel is clean, room is spacious. The lobby bar is good, I had several meals in there. The staffs are friendly and very helpful. The hotel locates in a great spot - on top of Medelevskaya station, next to a bank (for exchanging money), and there is shops, supermarkets within 2 mins walking. Next time I'm in Moscow, I think I will stay here again.

Clean and comfortable stay, quick check in, free parking and a bed organized for our kid - all was good. The room was not new though maintained well and repaired where needed. The pillow was not comfortable for me, but my partner did not complain and the kid slept well, too. In the morning we saw bottles, boxes after pizza at the room door next to our, but we did not hear noise at night - I suppose the soundproof is good.

• Travelers worldwide will likely head to Spain, Iceland, and Greenland for the event.
• A hotel expert encouraged travelers to start planning and booking their trips now.

It'll be two decades before the next total solar eclipse hits the US .

Another option: hop on a plane to Europe and turn the 2026 total solar eclipse into a viewing vacation.

Eclipse cartographer Michael Zeiler at GreatAmericanEclipse.com told Space.com that up to 3.7 million people likely traveled for the solar eclipse on Monday.

HotelPlanner's chief communication officer, Philip Ballard, told Business Insider that the eclipse was a major revenue generator for many cities. For places like Austin, Texas, and Rochester, New York, it could have created $1 billion in revenue, Vox reported.

"I would say the total solar eclipse has become a global phenomenon," Ballard said.

Ballard added that the next solar eclipse , which will pass through Iceland, Greenland, and Spain on August 12, 2026, could result in similar tourism and revenue influxes.

And if travelers are considering a trip to Europe for the solar eclipse, Ballard recommends planning your trip now.

Determine your eclipse viewing destination

According to Space.com , 2026 will be Europe's first total solar eclipse in 27 years. Its path will go through Greenland, parts of western Iceland, and northern Spain.

Choosing where to watch the eclipse will be a tough and important decision for travelers.

Iceland and Greenland have some positives. These regions will experience longer totality times, so viewers can watch the eclipse longer. Plus, the sun will be higher in the sky, so finding a spot to watch the eclipse will be less challenging, Space.com reported.

The downside is that these regions are more likely to be cloudy, according to the outlet.

While parts of Spain are likely to offer clearer skies, the eclipse's timing will be shorter and closer to the horizon, which means travelers will need to plan and track down a viewing location with unobstructed views of the western horizon, Space.com reported.

Regardless of the destination, according to the outlet, one bonus is that the strongest meteor shower in the Northern Hemisphere will happen the following night, so travelers can pack two events into one trip.

Book flights and hotels far in advance

Ballard encouraged people to book their hotels in their destination of choice as far in advance as possible.

"You should start looking now and booking hotels now because those cities in the path are already going to be at peak season," Ballard said.

Ballard said it's similar to when a Super Bowl city is determined or a Taylor Swift tour date is announced — you immediately see spikes in bookings. He predicts hotel occupancy rates will hit near-record highs, and room prices may double around the solar eclipse date.

Ballard's general rule of thumb is to book international travel at least three months in advance, but since this is such an anticipated event, booking earlier is smart. His advice is to start discussing plans with friends and family. If you decide on a destination, book a refundable room to keep your options open if plans change.

Regarding purchasing a plane ticket, a study from Expedia states that international travel's sweet spot is at least six months in advance.

According to Expedia, travelers who book six months in advance save an average of 10% more than travelers booking within two months or less.

Skip the hassle of planning altogether and book a solar eclipse tour

Another option is to let a tour operator do the work for you. A handful of tour companies have seen the increased interest in the solar eclipse and launched tours designed around the event.

These tours will have predetermined locations to view the eclipse, hotel blocks reserved, and itineraries highlighting both the region and the eclipse.

However, these can sell out quickly. For example, Space and Telescope created an 11-day tour of Spain around viewing the 2026 solar eclipse. The tour has already sold out as of Wednesday, and the waitlist is full.

Other operators, such as Wilderness Travel and Eclipse Traveler, have similar itineraries for the total eclipse in 2026.

Tesla may not be the only thing on Elon Musk's mind when he lands in India this month. The billionaire is likely to announce plans to start Starlink, an affordable satellite-based internet service offered by Musk-run aerospace company SpaceX, in India. 

Regulatory approvals for Starlink licence are at an advanced stage. Starlink has close to 92 crore broadband subscribers, according to the latest data by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

Reliance Jio Infocomm and Bharti Airtel currently lead the broadband market, followed by Vodafone Idea and BSNL. 

The government in December last year passed The Telecommunications Bill 2023 which allows spectrum allocation for satellite-based services without the need to participate in auctions. The move favours companies such as OneWeb, Musk's Starlink and Amazon's Kuiper.

According to experts, India’s digital economy is experiencing a period of significant growth momentum.

"The potential arrival of Starlink, coinciding with Musk's visit, could serve as a further catalyst for India’s thriving digital economy," Prabhu Ram, Head-Industry Intelligence Group (IIG), CMR, told new agency IANS.

All Starlink subscription plans include unlimited high-speed data on land with no long-term contracts or commitments. Starlink users can get download speeds up to 220 Mbps, with most of them receiving speeds of over 100 Mbps. 

The cost of Starlink services in India is not known as of now. In the US, the basic Starlink Wi-Fi for homes in rural areas is $120 per month for unlimited internet sans contract. There are other data plans as well. Musk's India visit is likely to last around 48 hours.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu is pulling out all stops to pitch itself as a manufacturing site for Tesla as speculation builds about the US company’s planned investments ahead of billionaire Elon Musk’s visit. 

“Tamil Nadu will be pitching for all opportunities of electric vehicle manufacturing from all global car majors,” T. R. B Rajaa, the state’s minister for industries said, when asked if Tesla was on his radar. He added that the province, often called the Detroit of India for its automaking prowess, has country’s “best electric vehicle policies and ecosystem.”

Elon Musk's India visit: Tesla CEO Elon Musk's India visit will last around 48 hours during during which the billionaire will make mega announcements. These will include plans to start Starlink services in India, CNBC-TV18 reported adding that Elon Musk will be in India on April 21 and 22. The Tesla CEO will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other government officials as well as industry representatives.

The report comes after Elon Musk confirmed his India visit on social media platform X as he wrote, “Looking forward to meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in India.”

Earlier he had said on the social media site that "India should have electric cars like every other country has electric cars. It's a natural progression to provide Tesla electric vehicles in India".

What's Elon Musk's plan in India

The report claimed that Elon Musk will announce an investment plan of $2-3 billion for India. Tesla is looking to manufacture cars for India but export them to global markets as well, the report added.

Elon Musk and PM Modi last met in New York in June. Tesla has asked India several times to lower import taxes on electric vehicles. Last month, Centre unveiled a new EV policy lowering import taxes to 15% from 100% on some models if a manufacturer invests at least $500 million and sets up a factory as well.

Elon Musk's upcoming visit to India later this month may not just be about Tesla , as the billionaire entrepreneur is expected to unveil plans to introduce Starlink, reported CNBC-TV18.

Elon Musk is expected to be in India on April 21 and 22, accompanied by his team from Tesla, with his duration of stay expected to last 48 hours. Their agenda includes meetings with government officials and industry representatives. Musk is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit.

"Looking forward to meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in India," said Musk, expressing his anticipation, on April 10 via a post on X platform.

What is Starlink?

Starlink is an affordable satellite-based internet service provided by Musk's aerospace company, SpaceX, in the US.

Regulatory approvals for Starlink's licence are in the final stages and is likely to receive it soon, the report stated. According to the latest data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Starlink has nearly 92 crore broadband subscribers.

The broadband market in India is currently dominated by Reliance Jio Infocomm and Bharti Airtel, followed by Vodafone Idea and BSNL.

Last December, the government passed The Telecommunications Bill 2023, which permits spectrum allocation for satellite-based services without the requirement for auction participation. This move is favourable for companies like OneWeb, Musk's Starlink, and Amazon's Kuiper.

Starlink's subscription plans offer unlimited high-speed data on land with no long-term commitments. Users can experience download speeds of up to 220 Mbps, with many receiving speeds exceeding 100 Mbps.

While the pricing for Starlink services in India remains undisclosed, in the US, the basic Starlink Wi-Fi for rural homes costs $120 per month for unlimited internet without a contract. Other data plans are also available.

Tesla is looking for a site to build a factory in India for manufacturing EVs , with an investment worth approximately $2 billion.

In an attempt to woo Musk, Tamil Nadu is making efforts to position itself as a manufacturing hub for Tesla.

Tamil Nadu’s Minister for Industries, Investment Promotion & Commerce TRB Rajaa told the publication that the state “will be pitching for all opportunities of electric vehicle manufacturing from all global car majors”.

He said the state has the country’s “best electric vehicle policies and ecosystem”.
