Unity and the Power of Love

Unity holds the essential vision that we are one living, interconnected ecosystem—a living Earth that supports and nourishes all of its inhabitants. If we acknowledge and honor this simple reality, we can begin to participate in the vital work of healing our fractured and divisive world and embrace a consciousness of oneness that is our human heritage. This is the opportunity that is being offered to us, even as its dark twin is constellating the dynamics of nationalism, tribalism, isolationism, and all the other regressive forces that express ‘me’ rather than ‘we.’

Oneness is not a metaphysical idea but something essential and ordinary. It is in every breath, in the wing-beat of every butterfly, in every piece of garbage left on city streets. This oneness is life—life no longer experienced solely through the fragmented vision of the ego, through the distortions of our culture, but known within the heart, felt in the soul. This oneness is the heartbeat of life. It is for each of us to live and celebrate this oneness, to participate in its beauty and wonder. And through our awareness, and actions born of this awareness, we can help to reconnect our world with its original nature.

There are many ways to experience and participate in this living oneness. But if I have learned anything after half a century of spiritual practice, it is the power of love. Love comes in so many forms and expressions. There are the simple acts of loving kindness towards friends and family, members of our community, or strangers. Love reaches across boundaries, expressing what is most essential and human: what unites rather than divides. “Small things with great love,” are more potent and powerful than we realize, because they reconnect us with the spiritual roots of life and its transformative and healing energies. Because life is an expression of love, each act of love is a participation and gift to the whole.

Cooking a meal with love and care, listening to another’s troubles with an open heart, touching your lover’s body with tenderness, or going deep in prayer until you merge in love’s infinite ocean—in all these acts, we live the love that unites us. And through our loving, we nourish life in unseen ways.

And at this time of ecological crisis, as we are tearing apart the fragile web of life, there is a vital need for us to love the Earth, to bring her into our hearts and prayers. We have a spiritual as well as a physical responsibility for ‘our common home,’ and she is calling out to us, crying for our help and healing. In the words of Thich Nhat Hanh:

Real change will only happen when we fall in love with our planet. Only love can show us how to live in harmony with nature and with each other and save us from the devastating effects of environmental destruction and climate change.

We need to reawaken to the power of love in the world. It is our love for the Earth that will heal what we have desecrated, that will guide us through this wasteland and help us to bring light back into our darkening world. Love links us all together in the most mysterious ways, and love can guide our hearts and hands. The central note of love is oneness. Love speaks the language of oneness, of unity rather than separation.

Love can open us to our deep participation in the life of the whole; it can teach us once again how to listen to life, feel life’s heartbeat, sense its soul. It can open us to the sacred within all of creation and can reconnect us with our primal knowing that the Divine is present in everything—in every breath, every stone, every animate and inanimate thing. In the oneness of love, everything is included, and everything is sacred.

And from there, we can begin to respond. We cannot return to the simplicity of an indigenous lifestyle, but when we let love guide us we can become more aware of the oneness of life and recognize that how we are and what we do at an individual level affects the global environment, both outer and inner. We can learn how to live in a more sustainable way, according to a deeper understanding of sustainability that rests on an acknowledgment of the sacred within creation. We can live more simply, saying no to unnecessary material things in our outer lives. We can also work inwardly to heal the spiritual imbalance in the world. Our individual conscious awareness of the sacred within creation reconnects the split between spirit and matter within our own soul, and also—because we are so much more a part of the spiritual body of the Earth than we realize—within the soul of the world.

Love is the most powerful force in the universe. Love draws us back to love, love uncovers love, love makes us whole, and love takes us Home. In the depths of the soul we are loved by God. This is the deepest secret of being human, the bond of love that is at the core of our being and belongs to all that exists. And the more we live this love, the more we give ourself to this mystery that is both human and divine, the more fully we participate in life as it really is, in its wonder and moment by moment revelation.

Love and care—care for each other, care for the Earth—are the simplest and most valuable human qualities. And love belongs to oneness. We know this in our human relationships, how love draws us closer, and in its most intimate moments we can experience physical union with another. It can also awaken us to the awareness that we are one human family, even as our rulers become more authoritarian, our politics more divisive. And on the deepest level, love can reconnect us with our essential unity with all of life, with the Earth herself.

The Earth is a living oneness born from love, being remade by love each instant. And we can be part of its spiritual transformation, its awakening. The Earth is waiting and needing our participation. It has been wounded by our greed and exploitation, and by our forgetfulness of its sacred nature. It needs us to remember and reconnect, to live the oneness that is our true nature. And love is the simplest key to this oneness, this remembrance. Love is the most ordinary, simplest, and most direct way to uncover what is real—the innermost secrets of life. It is at the root of all that exists, as well as in every bud breaking open at springtime, every fruit ripening in fall.

Love will remind us that we are a part of life—that we belong to each other and to this living, suffering planet. Love will reconnect us to the sacred ways known to our ancestors, as well as awaken us to new ways to be with each other and the Earth. We just need to say, “Yes,” to this mystery within our own hearts, to open to the link of love that unites us all, that is woven into the web of life. And then we will uncover the love affair that is life itself and hear the song of unity as it comes alive in our hearts and the heart of the world.

Women Living Well: Courtney Joseph

We Are Stronger Together {A Call for Unity in the Church}

As the country has grown divided over political issues, so has the church. This is a call for unity; that we stand together in love and grace. #Biblestudy #Psalms #WomensBibleStudy #GoodMorningGirls

2020 has been a rough year.  All of us have been affected by the chaos that the Coronavirus has caused.  The stay-at-home orders, political posturing, violence and riots in the streets and mask mandates have ripped our country apart.

We are a divided people.

We are divided over whether masks work and if we should wear them.

We are divided over which news network is giving us the correct information.

We are divided over stay-at-home orders and how far the government can go with their reach.

We are divided over Trump vs. Biden.

We are divided over whether the cops are good or bad.

We are divided over peaceful protests vs. riots.

We are divided over our American heritage and race issues.

We are divided over whether wearing a mask is showing love to our neighbor or whether it’s a conspiracy to gain control over the masses and it goes on…and on…and on.

Less than one week before Jesus went to the cross, Jesus said a prayer for the church. Do you know what he prayed for?  This is Jesus’ prayer below:

20 “ I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message,   21  that all of them may be ONE , Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us SO THAT THE WORLD MAY BELIEVE  that you have sent me.   22  I have given them the glory that you gave me,that they may be ONE  as we are one—   23  I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to COMPLETE UNITY. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. (John 17:20-23)

Jesus prayed that believers would have complete unity.

So that the world would believe in Him!

This means that our unity MUST be visible to the world.

How do you think the church is doing right now?

Jesus wants us to love each other so much and be so unified that when the world sees us and how we stick together – they will want what we have. They will want to know what makes us different and want to know God.

Are we doing that?

Did you know that 150,000 people die a day – around the world – of all kinds of causes?  That’s a lot of people meeting their maker – TODAY!  Have you told them about Jesus? Or are you busy debating one of the issues above? Because I can assure you, when we get to heaven – God is going to be more pleased with our unity and how brave we were sharing the gospel, than any influence we had on people politically or socially.

I am not saying we can’t be educated, have an opinion and lovingly share it – but I am saying, if you really want to love those around you – point them to Jesus.  Because wearing a mask might save someone physically from death – but if you want to see someone saved from spiritual death – you will have to love them enough to both share and live out the gospel.

The way you live your life, says something profound about the God you serve.  When you choose to say no to things that are wrong, say yes to things that are right, love the unlovable – including those who look different from you and even your enemies, forgive those who have wronged you, embrace faith over fear, and embrace unity rather than division – you are different!

We are stronger together.

This is a call for unity in the church.

The Psalmist says in Psalm 133:1,

How good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!

Every time we obey one of God’s commands, there is a joy benefit.   Psalm 133 says it is both good and pleasant when we are unified.  Wouldn’t 2020 be sweeter if we the church was really working hard to love one another above all else and unified as a result.

We need these difficult times to bring us together – not pull us apart.

We need each other.

Stand up church and be strong.

Hebrews 10:25 says:

“Do not forsake the assembling of yourselves together.”

Psalm 133:1 says:

The word dwell means to physically be together.  It is good and pleasant to be together in unity.

Our unity is being tested.

And by the looks of social media and the empty pews right now – I’d say we have some work to do.

Rise up church!

Jesus said:

“ You are the light of the world.” (Matthew 5:14)

Don’t take the bait of Satan.  He will keep you from attending your local church and connecting with other believers if he can.  He will tempt you to argue and fight.  He will tempt you to judge others with different political views.  He will drive a wedge between you and your friends or loved ones if he can.

Fight back with love.

Love people.

Jesus is love.

It takes two to have unity and peaceful relationships.  So I challenge you today…go first.  Pursue peace and pursue unity.  There is always a blessing for those who obey God’s word.  And never forget – we are stronger together.

Special Note: I removed two paragraphs from this post that were divisive.  I am not looking to be divisive especially in a post that has a call for unity in it 😉 .  Love you all.

Thank you for this message!

Satan might be trying to divide us but what he has done is spread us, away from our buildings and into the community. He only divides us when we allow him to. Be church where you are. Rejoice that you have the freedom to worship where you are. Christ will turn everything for good. Trust in Him.

Amen, as in Romans 8:28 says: “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for the good, for those who are called according to his purpose”

I just stopped following you. Shame on you! This is terrible. You can be close to God and don’t have to do it with 500 people.

Dear Leigh,

I’m so sorry to see you go. I agree with you that our walk with God is not dependent on other people but I was thinking about being close to one another in unity and how vital the local church is for that. I removed two of the paragraphs of this post so that I don’t get off track from the heart of this post. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Much Love, Courtney

Courtney, I read it before you removed the paragraphs. I am very much convicted by what you shared. Know that the Lord has used this (especially the removed words) greatly here in my heart.

I totally agree with this and the original posts. It moved me and changed how I was feeling about church.

Thank you, Courtney, for this very well-timed and well-spoken exhortation! What a necessary message for Christians today! You have so humbly and eloquently spoken what has been on my heart.

We are living in a difficult time with many changes and stressors around us so we do need to give grace to others but I’m seeing many, many Christians spending an exorbitant amount of time researching, debating and trying to convince others about these social issues with the end result of an angry mob of Christians who don’t have time or energy to do the main things Jesus has called us to do. We should be more burdened and passionate for people’s salvation than any social issue. I would encourage everyone to make sure they are spending more time in God’s Word and prayer than in reading/discussing social issues. And also, keep connected with your local church which God ordained as the spiritual authority over us to guide & protect us. (There are many ways we can still connect despite whatever restrictions our area has.) Only with our connections to Jesus and His body can we ascertain that our passions are pointed in the right direction. When we humbly submit to our Lord Jesus and stay connected to our church, God can unite us on the same path. — As an encouragement, in my life, because of these restrictions, we have met and connected with more neighbors than EVER before. Relationships have started, friendships have formed and opportunities to share the gospel have opened. We have prayed for years for opportunities to connect with our neighbors to no avail. Then lock down hit and God opened unique doors that couldn’t otherwise be opened. I praise God for the unique opportunities I have had and am trying to be faithful in this time because I know it won’t last forever. Eventually, we will all be back to our busy lives so I encourage others to ask Jesus how He wants to use you to make an eternal difference in such a time as this????.

…And who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this? -Esther 4:14b

AWESOME POST!! THANK YOU!

I wish we could go to church with masks on – you are very blessed to be able to do that. In my state, we are mandated to not hold church services yet so on-line is what we are working with. We thank God all the time for technology! Your words ring true either way – Unity is God’s way – Amen!

Thank you for this, Courtney. I appreciate you! We do need to be unified, not pulled apart. I believe these are signs of the times. I believe God is coming back for His children soon in the rapture and Satan is doing everything in his power to pull the church apart before that. We have to not live in fear and trust God. I gave Ps. 56:3 to a friend yesterday. Thank you for your heart for God and His children.

You are so blessed to have an open church!!! Our county in CA has been closed down since March, and there are no churches opened. In other counties that are, the governor has made worship illegal. I miss going to church with all my heart!

Thank you Courtney for sharing this truth! Calling the church to put others first and walking in unity As believers is the foundation of the biblical church. Thank you for having the courage to call the church to come together as one! Not to shrink back but have the courage to work through extreme challenges! Jesus paid a price of his life so that his body would be as one, and come together as one!

I appreciate many of your thoughts but as a pastor I ask that you not judge those that are not in the church building. We are in a time like no other and this is a health crisis not a rights issue. Out of love for our brothers and sisters in Christ as well as our community at large the less large gatherings we have now the sooner we can resume some sense of normalcy . Our church has resumed gathering and we have only about 25% attendance but more than ever are worshipping with us via technology. And it is tremendous work on any church staff to provide a safe environment to worship In a physical location from week to week. God knows the hearts of all. Judging comments do not promote unity. And physically being in a church building to worship (in the midst of a pandemic) is not an indicator of unity either. May God be our strength in these days.

Thank you for your feedback. I did not see my post as judgmental until I read a few of the comments here and so I edited the post and removed 2 of the paragraphs that were probably causing division. I certainly don’t want to do that – especially in a post about unity. Lol! So thank you for your feedback!

Much Love, Courtney 🙂

Courtney I totally support your post and see is as a loving reminder to remain close to the body if possible. I was encouraged .

I was so impressed by this post until the last part about being disappointed about church attendance. The church body has many, many tools today to responsibly gather, without gathering in large groups. Large groups should be avoided, wherever possible, because they can become super spreader events. These events can spread disease among the strong, who will most likely recover, who then carry it home, to grocery stores, and Dr. offices, municipal buildings, ect. Stopping the spread of this disease, means avoiding large groups wherever possible. So what is a church to do? Look back in history. The church has survived so, so much worse, without ANY of the tools we have at our fingertips today. Plagues, famines, wars, societies breaking down, societies recovering. Does anyone honestly believe that a (modern day, mind you) global pandemic will stop the Chuch? Will stop Jesus? Will stop our Savior from meeting us where we are? He gives His people creativity, and we can use that creativity to worship! I know a church that has broken down their worship services into 3 responsibly sized (50 or less groups) They group the chairs so families can sit together, use lots of hand sanitizer, and wear masks. Some churches, including mine, have online services and drive in services (fun, right?) How about a small backyard or park Sunday school? Travelling VBS that meets in a child’s front yard, with a message, a craft, and a treat? A church can Zoom, and we can get involved in social work that meets the needs of the community; food distribution, medical supply distribution, well checks on the elderly where you just stand on the porch and check in and pray with someone at an appropriate social distance. The list goes on and on! Remember, tradition is not king, the Lord is King. His church will survive, and emerge stronger than ever! Believe that, and be open minded about the type of gathering that the government allows right now. Our respect of guidelines that protect community health is an invaluable witness!

Dear Annie,

I love your comment! You convinced me to remove 2 of the paragraphs of my post that were coming across wrong. Thank you for sharing your heart here. Very encouraging!

Lots of Love, Courtney 🙂

Thanks! You have weathered some tough times, and I greatly respect your ministry. I truly believe that having faith in times like these will strengthen all of us, if we let it. And oh, when we can all meet again, singing our praises out loud to Him, what sweet, sweet joy we will experience! Until then, I’m digging deeper, boots to the ground, with a firm belief that I will be tested, my response to this testing will grow my faith (if I let it), and that eternal God is always in control.

I love how positive this exchange of ideas was, especially on a topic that can get so heated. This is so rare to see online. 🙂

Not to bring condemnation but when I look at our example(Jesus) who we are to imitate, He didn’t social distance. He touched the leper, the unclean woman with the issue of blood touched Him, these people were healed. The problem is we “Christians” aren’t walking the walk. All we do is make up excuses for our lack. Believers should have miracles signs and wonders following them, but all we have is excuses as to why people are sick, dying, and in despair. We are to bring the GOOD NEWS to people. The Good news that there is HOPE because of the finished work of Jesus. The Word says not to FEAR. If we were really concerned about the health of people, we would be laying hands on the sick, not running from the afraid to “spread” the sick.

It is amazing how the devil works! Distraction upon distraction for the church! And confusion is running rampant. That’s what satan wants in these times. I myself am suffering from it daily! I have come off FB, and I can not listen to the news anymore. I do not take the virus lightly, but neither do I take the agendas being pushed. That’s why I find myself stuck between a rock and a hard place constantly. I want to love my neighbor so bad. I want to see souls saved. But this is where I am stuck. When I see someone in a mask, I see people being silenced. I see gags in people’s mouths. I see obedience to the government that is trying to control the people and strip us from our rights slowly. Most will not agree with me at all and think me insane for believing such “conspiracies.” But every day, more and more of the conspiracies seem to become realities I’m afraid. I feel like a ping pong ball. I know what I see and what I hear. I live in a state where the governor is a smooth talker and wants to make our state a laboratory for the vax. His exact words published in the NY Times, not mine! This is what I’m constantly bombarded with. I don’t want to live in bubble, but I don’t want to face facts either and go on overload.

I’m explaining my thoughts so that I can ask these questions…Does anyone else feel this way or am I the only one here? I’m only looking for help, not political debate. The BIG question here comes down to this; how do you keep unity in the church, but continue to fight for your rights at the same time??

Hi there. Your last question is really interesting. As I thought about it, Philippians 2 popped into my head and challenged me:

“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant …”

This is what occurred to me: if Jesus stooped so low and made Himself nothing for us, then what is He calling me, as His child, to do for the church and the other people around me? He tells us to be salt and light where we are, an influence for good.

Also, Paul talks about us being a “fragrance of life” to the people around us (2. Cor. 2.16)

My conclusion, for what it’s worth, is that if we belong to Jesus, we are called to behave in a way that reflects what He is like and that brings life to the people of our age. It’s the old question of “what would Jesus do?” Time and again, and most of all on the Cross, we see that He put His own needs aside for the sake of other people. He is Lord over all, but He never mentions His own rights.

Ephesians 4.1-4 is helpful here, and also Romans 14.

Despite all the strangeness of these days, I hope you find a way forward that actually draws more people towards Jesus 🙂

Fiona, these are really good points with good scripture. I need to meditate on these more. I feel like it is such a fine line to walk right now though. It’s hard, but Jesus never promised a “picnic in the Poconos” as what we say here in the east. There has to be a way to behave as salt and light, yet not back down on our patriotism, I guess you can call it. Another thing God has been working on my heart it that “gentle and quiet spirit” I lack sometimes. BUT that zeal in me just wants to rise up! However, if it causes one to stumble which Paul talks about (Romans 14), then we are not to pursue that in that moment.

Thank you for taking the time to respond!

I feel the same way. The top 5 vaccines have been developed using aborted fetal tissue. The governor in my state has also hinted that the vaccine will be mandatory. I can not in good conscience take this vaccine.

It is alarming how quickly people have given up their God given rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness (the ability to work, provide for your family, and enjoy the fruits of your labor) for a perceived sense of safety. We engage in activities every day that come with risk and I have chosen not to live my life in fear.

Ooohhhh… don’t get me started on the vax! lol… it is completely against my Christian beliefs with those ingredients, and to be stripped of my rights as an America citizen to choose what’s best for my family regarding my health… but I don’t want to start something here… sigh… this was refreshing to read by Mike Rowe that talks about the other risks we take on a daily basis…

https://www.facebook.com/TheRealMikeRowe/posts/3445993122077473

Anyways… I am totally with you!! I have chosen the same. One scripture I like is Psalm 139:5. “You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head.” I have a chock full of them I’ve been studying to keep my head clear and free of the other “sickness” that’s going around.

I wonder if you even read Courtney’s post. You both are purposely bringing up controversial topics to cause division. No one wants to read this craziness here.

Well said, AND You are not alone. At the beginning we stopped having services. We feared the unknown. But May 31st the original date to go back to church we went back. Some sooner then we did, still many not going. We are making decisions out of fear! Where is our Faith? Do we not fear God more then man? I had to close my Business (Day Spa/Esthetician). I thank God my husband still has a job. We are a small church, we can and do social distance. I’m not judging anyone, but for me and my house we have chosen to follow Bible over government. We live in California, near San Francisco. The riots and gang problems are rampant here. Our lives have changed significantly and not for the better. I had to come to a decision, do I really believe God when He said He WILL supply all our needs? Fear God more then man, for what can man do to the? He can take my life but not my Soul! That belongs to Jesus. We can’t pick and choose, what to put into practice, the Bible is not a smorgasbord, take what you like and leave the rest behind. We will give an account to God for every decision we make. As Christians it’s time to Rise up! The thugs and government are winning because Christians won’t take a stand. I often ponder, is God just shaking his head in disappointment? He gave His Sons life for us, yet we refuse to stand for Him, because of fear! We are as sheep being led to the slaughter and many don’t recognize it. Churches here have received a letter from the government wanting every church members name, address, phone number. Absolutely NOT! We are in a Spiritual battle that can only be fought Spiritually. Courtney’s posted, gave me encouragement to rise up! It’s time we take this country back to God! Amen Be encouraged you are not alone.

Well said! Loving and convicting. Just what my slothful self needs to hear on a Sunday morning. ????

Thank you for the post. While it is something we should strive for, I don’t know that it is possible to have unity in the church this side of heaven. Some churches today support behavior that is condemned in the Bible. If a church does not value God’s principles, there will be a divide.

Sadly my church is now supporting Black Lives Matter and encouraging church members to become “woke” and acknowledge their white privilege. I hope they are doing so because they truly don’t understand what the organization BLM supports.

My church also asserts that we are loving our neighbor by staying home and not worshipping in person. It’s ironic that my church’s slogan is “Doing Life Together” when they kept the doors closed for 4 months (they just recently started meeting again with a mask requirement). They also assert that Hebrews 10:25 doesn’t really mean that we have to meet in person…meeting online is fulfilling our obligation to meet. However, I would argue that there was no other way to meet in Bible times except in person (no phones or Internet), so they are twisting the meaning of this Scripture.

I’m sad that many of my friends and my church are only listening to “experts” and politicians. They have not taken the time to educate themselves on COVID-19 and viruses in general, how God has created our bodies with amazing immune systems to fight off disease, to seek truth (we aren’t getting it from politicians or the media), research the effectiveness of masks, and are instead choosing to live in fear. My sister, who is not a Christian, had a conversation with me a few years ago and stated that you don’t need to go to church to be a Christian. I explained that is true, but God created us for community and the Bible tells us to gather on a regular basis. I recently received a text message from her commenting that the only cancellations on the local news site was for churches. She asked if it’s supposedly important for churches to meet, why are they still closed after 4 months. Unbelievers are watching and drawing conclusions from our actions.

Oh man… I’m so sorry about all this!!!

I dont want to upset anyone but can we please focus on God and leave the politics out of it. Everywhere you go on social media that is all it’s about. I had to unfollow a couple of things because it became to stressful. There has to be a safe place to go for encouragement without all the other stuff.

I am one of those people who is at home watching church online. I have a spouse and a child who both have health conditions which would put them at great risk if they would contract coronavirus. We have been pretty much staying at home since March. I can’t tell you how much I miss my church and my church family. I stay in touch through text messages and zoom but it is not the same. I try to stay positive but not attending church is really hard and breaks my heart. Sometimes it is really hard explaining to my christian brother and sisters why my family can’t attend church. It is not because we lack faith, don’t want to be there or because we are buying into a political agenda, it is a health issue. I say all this to make a point. We have to be careful about judging each other, especially now. Satan wants to use this to divide us. Let’s not let him win. Instead, let’s encourage one another. Send a nice note or call the brother or sister’s not at church.

I read this today in my bible study and thought I would share. Many of us need to constantly remind ourselves of this dual truth: we are not in charge of the world, but that doesn’t mean it’s out of control. Someone far greater, more righteous, and wiser than us is in charge. This is one of the reasons our worry is futile: “You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail” (Proverbs 19:21).

Yes! This is what I’ve been saying! The enemy has seized this opportunity to divide the church and has us right where he wants us. He’s probably laughing at how easy it was to turn us against one another. Thank you for standing up and calling us to unity.

Beautifully put Courtney<3

I have many struggles daily with my faith and this was a very big nudge for me in the right direction. I like how you brought out ONE. I always wonder how one religion could be the ONLY way. When there are some many that follow our Lord and are such fine examples ie; you.

I found the Lord thru a religion that is considered a cult. JW Main I crumbled in that denomination I cracked under the pressure to be Perfect. Well that is is how my minds eye saw it. So I have been listening to you, Bruce Gore and Northlake baptist GA Rev. Danny.

Thank you again and I pray for Peace and Love to continue for you and your family.

Michele (Michelle) Causes bit of an identity crises. lol

Courtney what a blessing you are to so many. I want you to know I too felt lost without being about to attend church. But, the ability to meet with this group of fantastic ladies has truly been an uplifting experience. 1 Corinthians 1:10 “I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no division among you, but you be united in the same mind and same judgment. We need to stand united and love each other as you stated. God bless you for your willingness to bring us together to study God’s Holy Word. Thank you so very much.

I SO appreciate you and your ministry. Thank you! You offer insight to my walk with God and help me better understand His holy word.

WOW! This message is mind blowing. What a call for the bonding and connection to the body of Christ ????. This like a wake up call , asking us to take our stand for HIS KINGDOM ❤️????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Thank you so much for this. It sums up how I’ve been thinking and feeling for quite some time now. My heart has been so heavy by all of the division and condemnation I see and hear from other brothers and sisters in Christ. While I can’t control anyone else, I can control how I respond. I just pray to model grace and love and walk with the Spirit. We all fall short and these are uncharted waters, but God…. He is and will use all of this for His glory and our good. And then there the hope and promise we have of heaven. This is not our home. Again, thanks for this. It’s been a long tough month for me.

I sure appreciated your heartfelt post, Courtney! Thank you for all you do! May God bless you!

Martin Luther King Jr.’s Message of Love

By marchel alverson.

King inspired a life of action in Hawkins. She says she felt an obligation to do her best because Martin Luther King Jr. exemplified such greatness.

“But, my father, like Dr. King, showed me the importance of loving your enemies. Above all, they preached the word of love.”

“He poured out his heart every single time.”

“One of the refrains from a song Dr. King loved was that my living will not be in vain. He lived that.”

speech on love and unity

Unity and the Power of Love

A sufi teaching.

speech on love and unity

Unity holds the essential vision that we are one living, interconnected ecosystem—a living Earth that supports and nourishes all of its inhabitants. If we acknowledge and honor this simple reality, we can begin to participate in the vital work of healing our fractured and divisive world and embrace a consciousness of oneness that is our human heritage. This is the opportunity that is being offered to us, even as its dark twin is constellating the dynamics of nationalism, tribalism, isolationism, and all the other regressive forces that express ‘me’ rather than ‘we.’

speech on love and unity

Love speaks the language of oneness, of unity rather than separation.

speech on love and unity

And the more we live this love, the more we give ourself to this mystery that is both human and divine, the more fully we participate in life as it really is, in its wonder and moment by moment revelation.

speech on love and unity

How To Whistle: A Complete Step By Step Guide For Beginners

Whistling is a great way of grabbing someone's attention, especially in case of an emergency. And it doesn't take any specific tools! You can whistle either by using two fingers, your teeth, lips, or any other way. Here are five different ways of learning the skill.

  • Whistling is a skill that a person can acquire through practice.
  • Whistling is done by making a small hole with the lips.
  • There can be different notes of whistling and different ways of doing it.

Whistling is not a natural ability; it must be learned.

In principle, given constant practice, anyone can acquire the skill to whistle to a certain extent. Keep practicing, and don't be discouraged!

It takes many sessions to learn to whistle properly. One must know the correct placement of the index finger and thumb while whistling with one hand. The shape of your lips and the pressure of air with which you have to blow also makes a difference.

To achieve better outcomes, you may need to reposition your mouth or tongue. But experimenting and practicing will eventually help you to generate a clear, forceful whistle. For a detailed explanation, read along and learn different ways of whistling.

What Is The Trick To Whistling?

Honestly, there is no trick to whistling. It is just the correct placement of your fingers and lips.

To learn to whistle, a person has to keep in mind three things - the shape of the lips, the pressure of air to blow with, and the placement of the tongue. Begin by puckering your lips. Shape your lips to make a small hole between your upper and lower lips and blow air through it. Use the full force of your lungs to expel a gush of air through your lips, and use your tongue to direct the air. The pressure must be maintained, or else it would result in spitting and not whistling.

The middle of the tongue plays a major role.

Blowing the perfect amount of air is crucial. This is the most difficult stage, and acquiring a feel for the proper quantity of air to blow is something that many non-whistlers struggle with. It's important to remember that whistling is not about the power of your lungs but about finesse. You do not have to stress your lungs; it is not needed.

When it comes to whistling, no one form is standard. You have to test various styles to find your comfort zone. If you are using your fingers, then try to immerse only the tip and create a shape through which air can pass. You can join the tip of your index finger and the tip of your thumb and try to blow. This works for many people.

Once you get the hang of it, practice will make things smooth. The sound of your whistle will also be high and clear.

How To Whistle Without Using Fingers

It is not rocket science to learn how to whistle.

While many people can whistle with their fingers, for others, it seems an impossible task. It is about learning and mastering the fundamentals before progressing to the next level. Follow these simple steps for whistling without fingers.

For this style, you can place the fingers close to the mouth. You do not have to insert them; try to imitate the shape of your lips. Extend the lower jaw and ensure your lower lip is pressed tightly against your bottom teeth. The lips must be properly stretched. Try doing it in front of a mirror to see the shape of your lips.

Simply pull your tongue back in the mouth until it floats at the right position near your lower front teeth. The front edge of the tongue will flatten and broaden as you perform this motion. Ensure there is enough space between your bottom front teeth and your tongue.

You can make a whistling sound by blowing air over a steeply angled edge made by your fingers. The same thing occurs when the tongue and upper teeth push air through both teeth and lower lip. Now without your fingers, once the lips and tongue are ready, you must try and blow. Take a deep breath and blow air without changing the shape of your lips. You will have to make multiple attempts before you actually succeed. The sound of the whistle can be increased with practice and eventually will not require one hand to whistle.

How To Whistle With Fingers

People whistle with their fingers as it generates a high pitch to catch a cab.

For this method, place the ends of your two little fingers together to make an A shape. This can be done using your thumb and index finger also. Tuck your lips in over your teeth after moistening them. You will likely look like a baby without teeth. Roll your tongue and reach your lip. When the tucking is done with fingers still in, try and close the mouth as much as you can comfortably. There will be space only between your little fingers while the rest of the gap is filled. Now when you blow, the air will be directed through that hole and result in a high-pitched whistle.

How To Whistle With Your Lips

Some people can whistle without using their fingers and create a loud sound too. Here is how you can also whistle using your lips.

Your lips should be wet and puckered. Blow lightly through your lips at first. When you hear a faint whistle, blow more forcefully while your tongue is relaxed. To generate varied tones, move your lips, jaw, and tongue. Keep your lips wet and try different air pressures to get a loud and clear whistle.

How To Whistle With Your Tongue

Some people like to whistle using their tongue.

For that method, wet your lips and shape them into an 'o'. Place your tongue right below your two front teeth. Your mouth should be slightly open. Now when you blow, you can hear a whistle. After a few adjustments in the shape of the mouth, you will attain a high-pitched sound.

How To Whistle With Your Teeth

Some people show their teeth when they whistle. It may seem funny, but this is quite an effective way to whistle.

Pull the corners of your lips back slightly. Don't let your bottom teeth appear, although you can if you like. Maintain a firm bottom lip against your lower teeth. If you need assistance in establishing this specific shape, push your index finger while touching the middle finger on either side of the mouth. The index and middle fingers are just on the outside of the lips. Now place the tongue on the same level as your lower teeth. The tongue becomes flat and broad. There will be a space between teeth and tongue using fingers.

Next, you need to blow air through this gap. Close the mouth in such a way that the air is perfectly guided. The sound of the whistle will eventually get higher with practice.

Why can't some people whistle?

Some folks assume they just cannot whistle. They've just never worked out how they can whistle, and they believe it's simply out of their reach. However, there is no genuine proof of any genetic or other variables that would impede someone from learning.

Is whistling possible for everyone?

Yes, with practice, any person can whistle.

What makes you able to whistle?

To whistle, a person must master three key variables: the form of their lips, the volume of air to blow, and the placement of their tongue.

Can whistling damage your voice?

Is whistling good for the brain?

Does whistling improve voice?

There is no evidence that whistling can improve the voice of a person.

Can all singers whistle?

Yes, all singers can whistle; they just have to practice properly. Practice helps make the sound of the whistle louder.

Why do humans whistle?

Love and Unity

March 3, 2021

Unity Essence of Being Burge Smith Lyons

What is love? And what is unity? When you think about love, does your mind go to warm, fuzzy feelings in your belly? Do you blush? Or think incessantly about the object of your affection?

That’s not love.

When you think about unity, do you imagine people coming together to compromise and come to an agreement? Do you think about having to give up what you believe in order to get along? Or do you think unity is about being right and convincing others to believe it as well?

That’s not unity.

It seems that the definitions of love and unity have been influenced with ideas of what they should look like. It’s time to get back to the basics—to learn how we can put love and unity to work to heal our world.

One Love, in Different Forms

There are three types of love: Love of Self, Love of Others and Love of God (or Great Spirit, The Universe…whatever you call your higher power).

In order to love yourself, it’s important to understand that you are innocent and that you’re worthy of receiving it. You can start by looking at a picture of yourself as a child (when you knew you were innocent) and saying, “I love you.” Then move to the image of yourself in the mirror. Keep saying, “I love you,” until you can see yourself as an innocent being, worthy and deserving of all the love that comes your way.

The love of others isn’t just about being with people you like. It’s about making a choice to exercise empathy for everyone , and to believe that they’re innocent and worthy. You don’t have to like someone to love them. You can have concern for the entirety of humanity, and demonstrate that by listening, showing compassion, having empathy and making choices that result in the highest good for all involved. That’s love for others.

Love for your higher power, Divine Self, God…means knowing that you’re part of something bigger than just yourself. It means knowing that only light comes from this Great Source, and in that light is your innocence, your value, your worth and everything that makes you loveable.

Say, “Light comes from me and to me.” When you open yourself to receiving that love, it’s the same energy as giving it. You’re filling your cup. You’re confirming that great power’s existence. You are a loving and loved being.

When you choose to move throughout your work and your days with these three types of love in mind, then all of your decisions will be conscious ones that breed the highest good. You will make deeper connections. Your relationships will be fulfilling for all involved. You will have enough, you will do enough and you will be enough.

When you’re walking around in that Love Thought System , fostering genuine unity will come naturally.

Our Current State of Non-Unity

We have been through a pandemic, social restrictions , isolation…and that can be difficult for even the most conscious being. I am concerned about our loss of connection. We are joined as one people, as a rule of nature. Everything each of us says, does and feels affects others.

Because of all we’ve been through (and are going through), you may find yourself feeling combative—having to convince people to come over to your side. You may feel an insatiable need to be right—to win every argument. Or, maybe you’ve gone to your corner in order to protect yourself from all the turmoil.

So many of us are struggling with how all of this is going to work out. You may be wondering how you can possibly have a voice and express yourself when you fear that it will cause an argument, or maybe the loss of a relationship. You might find yourself pondering how you can tell your truth in a world that seems so black-and-white, man-and-woman, republican-and-democrat, haves-and-have-nots, physical-and-nonphysical.

What you’re feeling are the affects of duality. It’s the opposite of unity. It’s the idea that there’s a big divide and you have to stand on one side or the other so you don’t fall in the chasm. But that’s just optics. We’ve been conditioned to believe that we have to take sides. But in reality, you can exist in the gray area that lies between the black and the white.

Perturbation on the Way to Unity

That gray area? It can be pretty uncomfortable. When you’re walking out of the darkness and into the light, there’s a point where the two meet. You might want to go toward that light, that change and the place where differences are made…but the transition isn’t immediate. There’s a gradient—a time and place where you have the option to turn around and go back or move forward.

Unity Essence of Being Burge Smith Lyons

Perturbation, or the feeling of transition from one state to another (like a caterpillar to a butterfly, or water to steam) doesn’t feel restful or secure. There may be doubt, discomfort, agitation…but that’s how all positive transformation happens.

Unity is no different.

What Unity Looks Like

This thing we’re going through—the way you’re feeling—is us moving as a society to a new humanity, a new earth and a new integrated consciousness.

We can go through it in two different ways. Disjointed, divided and disconnected…or we can unify.

I know it may be hard to imagine unity in the world we live in—until you understand what unity really means. Unity is not compromise. It’s not having to give up any of your beliefs. You don’t have to badger anyone into coming to your side. In fact, no one has to give up anything in order for unity to occur. No one has to be right or wrong. No one has to win or lose. Everyone can stand firmly in their own integrity, not budging an inch.

All that’s needed is a consensus.

A consensus is a bridge that spans our differences. A consensus doesn’t support one opinion or another, it simply supports the resolution. It can mean we agree on a decision to feel heard and come to a resolution. And in many cases, it brings about an entirely new way of seeing the situation.

This is very different than compromise, which can result in feelings of animosity, or that one person owes something to another in the future. That’s not the way of a conscious leader.

How a Conscious Leader Creates Unity

Humanity is on a trajectory, and it’s about to be readjusted. Your role at this point in time (and moving forward) is to rise above and view it all as if you’re an eagle. Say, “I choose the highest good for all concerned,” especially when there’s disfunction, controversy or conflict. Repeat it often.

From that eagle-eye view, choose not to be mired down in the muck. Choose to find resolutions and create synergy. Educate about consensus, and always elect to use it. Support others’ decisions. Instead of arguing or having to be right, respect opinions that differ from your own. And then speak your truth with compassion, always first making sure that what you have to say is for the highest good.

These practices will create synergy, which will multiply and generate unity. The more you exercise compassion and empathy, and use them for consensus, the more others will see the effects and want to have what you’re having. This is conscious leadership, it’s contagious, and it starts with you.

Speech On Unity for Students and Children

Speech on unity.

Unity is an important element for the society we live in, as we all together form this whole nation. “Strength is always with the Unity” is a well-known phrase and it is totally true. Unity represents togetherness and being there for each other like we all are one. Therefore, in unity, everyone stands together for every big and small problem. There are several stories as well as there are many real-life incidences that are proof that unity always leads a harmonious and satisfying life for everyone. On the other hand, many people still don’t get the benefits and concepts of unity. People fight over insignificant and stupid things and in the end, they end up with loneliness and emptiness. Speech On Unity

Help and Support: People help and support each other. On the other hand, living in separation can make anyone feel insecure and shy and that’s not a good thing to happen to anyone.

Good Guidance: It is a true fact that when we stay in unity then we may get guidance from others, for both personal and professional matters including the solutions also.

Proper Growth: Staying in unity is always good for our growth and as well as for the development of the nation. Moreover, it is also good for the members of the family in particular and all-round development of the kids.

Source of Motivation: When we work or perform any task together, we get motivated and encouraged to work harder with each other. Also, we motivate each other to achieve the goals and this teamwork results in a great motivational factor.

Greater Accomplishment: Whenever we work together as a team, we easily accomplish superior goals which are sometimes not possible alone.

Fighting a Mission: Fighting any mission becomes much easier when we have a number of people involved in the mission. The Indian national movement for freedom is the best example of unity. Many unfair practices have been fought and removed in the past only because of the unity among the people.

Role of Government in the Development of Unity

Unity can only be achieved when an individual is ready to sacrifice his/her individual interests and work for the betterment of the country as a whole with coordination. Undoubtedly the spirit of unity should be inborn. The government can play an essential role in the process of building unity among the public. Few steps by which we can achieve unity are as follows:

End Corruption: A nation can never be wealthy and in a better condition if it’s political system is full of corruption. So, we should choose the political leaders with the utmost care and analysis.

Lower Economic Disparity : There is a lot of economic disparity present in our nation. As we all can see that rich people are becoming richer day by day and the poor people are getting even poorer.

The word unity is a five-letter word but has a huge meaning that we all should know. Unity is the need of the hour. In every country, people need unity to survive. If people will not unite, they will become weak alone and then they will be facing a lot of problems. A group of people is always greater than a single person that is alone, in all means.

We should always help and support other people who need help and we should always stand together in every situation. People help someone only when they get help from that person in their good or bad times. So, we should coordinate with each other and always stay united. Unity is something that makes the weaker one strong.

Speech on Unity

Good (—) to you all. My name is (—), and I am here today to speak about unity and the importance of unity. All of you must have heard about the power of unity and how “unity is strength.” You would have experienced how you can do things differently when you are united with others. When meeting life’s daily challenges, people always need people by their side. It is human nature.

Even the world’s greatest kings and rulers had an army by their side. “United we stand, divided we fall.” This is a moral that we learn from our very childhood. It has proven to be true throughout the ages. We, as humans, should learn to trust and depend on each other. Team building skills and interpersonal skills are major requirements today, especially in workplaces. When people work together as a team, there will be a work delegation that distributes the work and makes it easier for them to complete it.

Also, since it is a combination of different people with different mindsets and ideologies, there will be various creative options to choose from. Problem-solving becomes much easier when there is unity in a team.

In a society, people need to be unified to face their problems. Unless there is unity among people, there will never be peace. We have seen that when a social issue arises, one person alone will not be able to fight for justice. It is when many people come together that their voice is heard and appropriate actions are taken. People need to be there for each other to survive in this world. Build relations with people. Talk to them. Try to listen to their problems and show them your concern. If you see that someone is alone, go talk to them and try to include them in a group.

Loneliness is one of the main reasons people develop mental problems that may even lead to depression. When people of different personalities come together, there may be conflicts, but when they talk it out and solve them, a good bond will be formed, and people will be able to understand each other better.

The importance of quality should be made familiar to children as people form strong concept grounds in their childhood. When they attend playschools and kindergarten, they are made to play games that require them to work with their classmates. Even when people reach youth, they are given real-life situations in classrooms and made to work to work as a group to come up with ideas to solve them. In workplaces, they are given training for team building and given simulation exercises where they are asked to come up with solutions that the organization faces in their day-to-day activities.

We live in a country where people from various countries with different races, ethnicities, and cultural backgrounds reside together. We must be well equipped to live together in unity and harmony and be inclusive without any prejudices and discrimination.

The Importance of Unity

Why is it so important, and what can we do to promote Unity? You should better understand the importance of Unity and how it can benefit us all. We’ll also be exploring ways that Unity can help us, both individually and as a society. Unity can be the reason for peace and harmony if adhered to by understanding its depth. As it is said, “strength always lies in unity” is a notion that can be life-changing when followed. It promotes a positive environment and makes habitation easier without any constraints.

Short speech on unity

“Unity is strength. When there is Unity among the people, there is strength. When there is strength, there is power. And when there is power, there is the ability to achieve great things.”

This is why it is so essential for people to come together and unite. When people are united, they have the strength to achieve great things. Unity should be integral to family, marriage, community, religion, and nation, regardless of our differences. Uniqueness and diversity should be our strengths. The spirit of this phrase, “Unity is Strength,” is most appropriate for our country. We must accept it as individuals and live in peace and harmony.

1 Minute Speech About Unity

Good morning and welcome all of you gathered here. I am here to present my views on unity.

There is a saying; “A lone gram can’t bust the cooker” which means big achievements can’t be reached without unity and teamwork. Humans are social creatures. Being social means living together with other humans. This togetherness is called unity.

Unity is needed in each sphere of life be it a sense of protection, motivation, teamwork, support, guidance or growth. Without unity, one can not get the maximum advantages. Unity requires at least two persons but it does not support a maximum number.

Even if there is unity in a group, each person is different. This enables us to explore different perspectives, ideologies, skills and talents. This variety is very helpful to unlock the full capability of a group.

In short, alone we can do so little and together we can do so much. Thank you! I hope you liked my speech.

1 Minute Speech About Unity

2-Minute Speech On unity

Welcome honourable principal, respected teacher, loved parents and dear friends. Today, we are gathered here for this special occasion of… I am here to speak a few words about unity.

If I give you a wooden stick and ask you to break it. You probably break it at once. But if I ask you to do the same with a bundle of wooden sticks, will that be possible? I think it becomes a tough task. This is the difference between being a unit and being united.

Unity is the opposite of weakness. Who loves weakness? I am sure that almost everyone hates weaknesses. Everyone appreciates strengths. That is why unity holds a special place in a family, business, society, country etc. In short, It is an important element for each aspect of life. What do you think?

Well! let me explain. Unity in the family gives you joy, unity in business helps you witness growth, unity in society helps you get a sense of protection & support, and for a country, unity is a vital factor to maintain internal peace and harmony.

Most importantly, mere standing together is not unity but it is an emotional connection between individuals. When there is unity, people stand by one another in times of need and celebrations. If we do not unite, we can’t pave the way to progress and development.

Furthermore, where there is unity, there is  so much to explore, so much to enjoy and so much to learn. By being together we will fight with each other, and adore each other but we will never let any foreign entity harm our family, group, society or country.

This is all that I wanted to say. I hope you liked my thoughts. Thank you!

3 Minute Speech On Unity & its Importance

First of all, good morning to the honourable principal, respected teachers and loving friends and all of you present here today. In your special presence, I would like to say a few words about unity and why unity is important for all of us.

We have all known the importance of unity since the stone age when we lived together to protect ourselves from wild animals. Time changed but as living beings, a sense of protection resides within us. Unity gives us a feeling of safety from foreign entities.

For example, we saw the results of not being united when the Britishers adopted the trick of  divide and rule . They got successful and ruled over the nation for decades and exploited citizens. Then it was the unity that assisted us to get freedom. Thus, unity will always hold its significance.

Let’s talk about some of the advantages of unity.

1. Safety & Security

Living alone can make us feel insecure and unsafe. Being united provides us with a sense of protection and security. Apart from safety, unity multiplies happiness and divides sorrow . We learn to celebrate each other’s joy and share each other’s pain.

Everyone is unique and everyone has his own strengths and weaknesses. We can bypass our weaknesses by getting support from the ones who have strength for that matter. Also, we can strengthen others by providing support which we are good at.

3. Teamwork

Unity encourages us to work in a team. Teamwork is a vital element for the overall progress of a group. For any individual, it is hard to perform a number of various tasks. Therefore, there is a need for many people with different talents to take full advantage of everyone’s capabilities.

Growth is a mission which becomes much easier when we involve a number of people in it. Growth is the name of achieving goals one by one. When we work together as a team, we are more likely to achieve superior goals as compared to when done it alone.

To sum it up, unity has innumerable advantages. It leaves a compounded effect on a goal. That is why it is said; one and one make eleven.

This is all I think of unity. I hope you liked my thoughts. Thank you!

Speech on Power Of Unity

Unity holds a potent force that can transform even the most challenging tasks into simple ones. It’s like a team of horses pulling a heavy cart; when they work together, the load becomes lighter.

You might have heard the phrase, “Unity is strength”. It’s not just a saying, but a truth that has been proven time and again. When we unite, we create power, a power that can conquer all obstacles.

1-minute Speech on Power Of Unity

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Unity is like a bundle of sticks. Separately, each stick can be easily broken, but together, they become unbreakable. This is the power of unity. It’s about standing together, helping each other, and working towards a common goal.

Imagine a flock of birds flying together in the sky. They do not fly alone because they understand the strength of unity. Together, they can travel long distances, fight against strong winds, and protect each other from danger. This is why unity is important.

A team of players can win a game only when they play together, not when each player tries to score alone. In a similar way, we can overcome any challenge and achieve any goal, if we stand together. Unity makes us strong, helps us to grow, and brings success.

Remember, unity doesn’t mean we all have to be the same. We can be different – different in thoughts, different in actions, different in looks. But unity is about accepting these differences and working together. It’s like a rainbow, which is beautiful because it has different colors.

In conclusion, unity is power. It is a strength that can move mountains, cross oceans, and reach stars. So, let’s hold hands, stand together, and make this world a better place. Because together, we can do wonders.

2-minute Speech on Power Of Unity

Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, today I stand before you to talk about a simple yet powerful concept – the ‘Power of Unity.’ Unity, in simplest terms, means coming together. It’s about joining hands, standing shoulder to shoulder, and working towards a common goal.

Let’s start with a story we all know, the story of a wise old man and his sons. The old man gave each of his sons a stick and asked them to break it. They did it easily. Then, he tied several sticks together and asked them to break the bundle. They tried their best but couldn’t. The old man smiled and said, “United we stand, divided we fall.” This story perfectly illustrates the power of unity.

Unity is like a strong thread that ties us together. It’s like a big, sturdy ship that sails smoothly, even in stormy weather, carrying everyone safely towards their destination. When we are united, we can face any challenge, overcome any obstacle, and achieve any goal.

Imagine a team playing a football match. If all the players play for themselves, they can’t win. But, if they play together, passing the ball to each other, defending their goal, and attacking the opponent’s goal as a team, they can win. That’s the power of unity. Unity turns a group of individuals into a strong, unbeatable team.

Unity is not just about being together; it’s also about respect and understanding. It’s about appreciating our differences and celebrating our similarities. It’s about helping each other, caring for each other, and standing up for each other. When we are united, we are like a big family, where everyone feels loved, valued, and protected.

Unity also teaches us the value of sharing and cooperation. When we share, we not only divide our resources but also multiply our happiness. When we cooperate, we not only solve our problems but also create a better, more harmonious world. Unity, in this sense, is the key to peace and prosperity.

In conclusion, the power of unity is immense and magical. It can transform the impossible into possible, the ordinary into extraordinary, and the individual into a community. As the famous saying goes, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” So, let’s unite, let’s stand together, and let’s harness the power of unity to create a better, brighter, and more beautiful world.

“Our community is devastated by today’s events and grateful for the swift actions of law enforcement. May the healing hands of God touch the lives of everyone involved and provide comfort during this difficult time.

In the face of such darkness, we must hold onto our faith and remember evil will not prevail. God will guide us through the darkest of times. Together, we will rise above this tragedy and stand firm in our commitment to love and support one another.

In times like these, our faith is tested, but it is also strengthened. We don’t always understand why things like this happen, but we know that God is in control.

Please join me in continued prayer for healing and peace.”

Waitangi Day 2024: Dawn service turns to unity, love and togetherness

The Hikoī crosses over to Waitangi

Thousands of people gathered before dawn in the Bay of Islands today to commemorate Aotearoa New Zealand’s Treaty of Waitangi amid heightened tensions between the coalition government and Māori.

Waitangi Trust chair Pita Tipene welcomed everyone and said the massive crowds were vastly different from when the country was stuck in the grip of the covid-19 pandemic.

“Several years ago when this commemoration and therefore this dawn service was not held because of the pressures of covid, I nonetheless came here with my mokopuna,” he said.

“We were the only ones here, so when I look out at the throng of people it’s very different to that morning when we sat here on the maho and I was forced to give karakia myself.”

Tipene said moving forward as a nation means we were also moving forward as individuals “learning from each other”.

The Waitangi Dawn Service 2024.

“When we learn to live with each other and our personal circumstances, I think we can all move forward too.”

Alistair Reese told the crowds Henry Williams, an Anglican priest who translated the English draft of the Treaty in Māori and explained its provisions to Māori leaders, told the chiefs that the Treaty was “Queen Victoria’s act of love to you”.

Reese said the Treaty was understood by many as a “sacrificial union”.

“It is an ethic that seeks the best outcome for the other and to paraphrase the apostle Paul, love is patient, love is kind, love does not dishonour others and love never fails,” he said.

“So if the Treaty was an act of love by Victoria to Māori, by extension it needs also to be an act of love by our government to Māori.”

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon shared a Bible reading from 1 Corinthians 12:12-27 about working as one body.

Labour leader Chris Hipkins said the Treaty was the country’s guide to navigating the challenges in partnership.

“Te Tiriti binds us together as we work towards a fairer Aotearoa, in which all of our people can flourish and prosper, [it] inspires us to be kind, to be compassionate, to be grateful and to do good.”

Departing Greens co-leader James Shaw chose a popular quote about love and Tina Turner’s “what’s love got to do with it” was also quoted in the speeches.

‘We’ve got a lot of work to do’ – Luxon

Waitangi Day 2024 Feb 6

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon told RNZ’s Waitangi Day programme he wanted a country that was unified but respected differences too.

“I actually think that’s what’s amazing about Waitangi … where else on Earth would you see everyone, with all the diverse sets of opinions and views … actually all choose to come together and express those views in one place. I can’t think of any country that does it, I think it’s very unique and special.”

He said he had been inspired.

He visited a settlement on Friday with “Third World housing in a First World country”.

Luxon said the solution to housing was easing the consenting process, partnering up with iwi, and getting the money to the community to provide housing.

“When you look at the issues across Māoridom . . .  we’ve got a lot of work to do.”

Speaking about increased attention on ACT and New Zealand First, Luxon said that was the reality of MMP.

“New Zealand First, ACT and National are all very united on getting houses built for Māori up and down this country, so that’s where we have great commonality.”

Speech on Unity is Strength for Students 600 and 1000 Words

Speech on Unity is Strength for Students and Children

In this article, you will read Speech on Unity is Strength for students and children. We have included two speeches in 600 and 1000 words for school and college students.

Table of Contents

Unity is strength can refer to families, marriages, countries, communities, religions, and even classrooms at school. It is also to say that we are much stronger than being alone.

As you all know that all the citizens of the country unitedly fought to make our country independent. If there is no unity among all the citizens, then we are not free today, so Unity is essential for us and everyone.

Lets go the speech part-

Speech of Unity Is Strength (600 Words)

Good morning to all of you,

I am thankful to all of you for allowing me to speak on this special occasion today. Today we are all together and discussing it together.

Our five fingers together form a claw. The claw of the hand has creative power; it can be an artisan, a worker, a writer, a painter, a teacher , a soldier. The only failure comes when the power of the individual fingers is divided.

The development of our society is based on this spirit; our existence rests on this spirit. In ancient times, man did not live together; he lived like animals. And ever since it became a society with Unity, civilization developed. And our security increased, facilities increased.

As you are aware of all the TV and newspapers that people all over the world are victims of many kinds of violence. For example, this violence is domestic, religious, and even between countries. The main reason for this is the lack of Unity among the people; people quarrel with each other for their small benefit and are forgetting the power of Unity.

“Unity” means work in a unified way. The term is mostly used to refer to people and communities, united in the face of adversities and threats. It refers to 2 or more people working as a unit. Between people and societies, Unity plays an important role. Our country was not free for 200 years because of a lack of Unities in the past.

The British came to our country as traders, and then they ruled over us because of a lack of mutual Unity among the people of our country. All the citizens of our country unitedly fought for freedom and proved that Unity could bring success, and this is how we got our independence on August 15, 1947.

We should still live with Unity, we should not think that we are free now, so there is no need for Unity. We should stop all the conflicts in our country – based on location, religion, and color. If we do not live together, another country will start ruling over us again, and then we do not know how many years we have to remain slaves, maybe over 200 years.

Therefore, in the end, I would like to tell you again that there is Unity, strength in prestige in the organization. There are many stories to tell about this, such as pigeons and traps ‘old father and his five sons.

And “strength of unity” and “destruction in the division” when we are relying on a group, we should unite so that we can succeed. Being divided into a group, we never get to taste success.

Thank you, who listened carefully to my speech among all of you, I hope all of you will understand the Importance of its Unity and say to others as well.

Speech for Strength of Unity (1000 words)

Good morning to the principal, all teachers and students. First of all, I want to express my gratitude to all of you because they have given me such a great opportunity to present some of my words to all of you on this great occasion. I want to discuss a very important topic with you today.

That theme is “unity is power” in today’s people, I want to ask, is this just a saying? It has been seen from the beginning of humankind that whenever there is division, only destruction has taken place. I am sure you will understand the power of Unity because you are all mature, and if you understand this, then you should also understand that the quarrel is meaningless.

It only spoils society and relationships. We can never beat big trouble by remaining isolated. I want to understand this by giving you an example. There lived a poor old man in a village who had five boys. Those five brothers were always quarreling among themselves. One day that man’s health became terrible; he felt he is going to die now.

He called all his boys and made a wooden bundle of 5 sticks and gave them to his boys and asked the boys to break the bundle. One by one, all five boys tried, but no boy could break the bundle. Then he opened the bundle and gave 1 to 1 wood to his boys and said break it.

Everyone broke easily. The man then told his sons, anyone can break a stick easily; it is very easy to destroy one person. If you choose to remain separate after my death, anyone can take advantage of the situation of you and harm you. But if you all choose to stick together like this bundle of sticks, no one of your enemies can harm you.

After this, all his sons promised to live together for a lifetime. The moral of the story is “unity is strength” Unity is an important factor even within a family and our society. Family members, who live together and support each other, have a lasting relationship. It can solve each other’s problems in a valuable manner.

Napoleon, a French leader, believed that “there are only two forces that unite men – fear and interest.” However, today, the term interest is broadly used. People can b together because of the need of their spirit, which has nothing to do with common interests. They can also be together because of a shared history or past, as with the civilians.

of a country. In our society, Factors such as trust, engagement, understanding, and love help to maintain Unity among people.

Always good ideas inspire people; they will remain united and strong for it. The moment the group doesn’t have Unity, everything collapses. So please remember to stand tall against all difficulties. Please do not forget if we are not united, and we cannot taste success. It is very important to be together to taste success.

I think you heard this famous saying? “United We Stand Divided We Fall.”

Today, people living in 29 different states and seven different union territories in our country are with faith in brotherhood. Care, love, and harmony together give it a real essence of life. It is a unity that has become the basis of a prosperous, strong, and prosperous India in the country despite terrorism, corruption, and disorder.

People in India have a high affinity for work and spirituality, which makes relationships strong, and at the same time, people respect all religions equally. Today we have discussed here and found that Unity is supreme and omnipotent in every stage of life. And I would also like to say that no unity is possible in this world without Unity.

Unity is not only for our country, but an integral part of the entire world, and many issues are seen where a country is going through a problem, and the countries of the world are united to solve this problem. This can be possible if Unity is there. So we know Unity plays an important role in every aspect of everyone’s life.

No one but only Unity has the power to change the whole world. It is fully up to us we are all united. We are celebrating Independence Day in our country on August 15 every year, which is the greatest example of the strength of Unity.

It was not possible without the feeling of the power of Unity among the people, and Unity is one reason why our country is free today. All the people in the country unitedly fought for freedom and freed the country. This would never have been possible without Unity.

This is the correct time when we are united against all difficulties such as terrorism , riots, animal cruelty, murder, corruption, etc. All these problems can be eliminated from the root only if we are united against it.

With this, I want to end my speech and special thanks to our principle, teachers who supported this speech unconditionally. I would like to give a special thanks to all the people to gather here and make this event a success.

Thank you so much. Forgiving me this opportunity to address.

I hope you liked these speeches on Unity is Strength for students and children.

Speech on Unity

Unity Speech

Short speech on unity.

Warm Greetings Ladies and Gentlemen!

I, Rajesh from Class 10, stand here to deliver a speech today. After listening to all my fellow classmates, I will now with the permission of all the staff members would like to speak on the most essential element of human existence, that is Unity.

A famous saying by Franklin D. Roosevelt goes like “The point in history at which we stand is full of promises and danger. The world will either move forward towards unity and widely shared prosperity or it will move apart”. The saying has always proved to be right as whenever there has been any flinch in unity, the world has observed a lot of terror and instability.

People living in India are from various castes, religion and beliefs; however they live in unity and prove the fact that unity in diversity. Unity focuses on the existence of mutual peace, love harmony, etc despite having differences in so many ways like caste, class, religion, etc. With regard to the Indian religions, its range never ends. It is the place of the reunion of various languages and religions. People from the entire world with distinctive customs are found living in our country in a very peaceful manner. Here Muslims, Sikhs, Hindus, Jews, Christians, Buddhist, Jains and Parsees live with love and peace with one another. All of them observe religious festivals with great zeal and enthusiasm.

When there is harmony, there is more strength in views, better communication and better understanding. The freedom fighters of Indian right from the Britishers encroachment on our land to the day when India celebrated its first independence day would not have been possible without the combined effort of all the people irrespective of different religious or cultural background. They were just driven by a single agenda and that is to win back India’s freedom. This is why the freedom struggle of India is a great example of unity in diversity.

People living in 29 different states and 7 different Union territories are bound together by one faith of brotherhood. Living together with bond, care, love and harmony provides the real essence of life. It is unity which has become the cornerstone of prosperous, strong and happy India even after a lot of terrorism, corruption and commotion countrywide. People hold karma and spirituality in high importance which deepens the bond. People respect all the religions equally. The unity not only helps people morally, but it is also a great paradigm for other countries which attract a lot of tourists to a large extent.

For instance, a family symbolizes bonding, harmony and oneness, they live together under same roof, they share a very strong bond, they even share their woes and sorrows with each other and this is the basic strength of unity. The importance of unity can never be undermined. A few drops of water make the mighty ocean and it makes the basis of unity.

From what we have discussed in our conversation today, it is found that the unity reigns and sways supreme in each and every walk of life. No achievement in this world would be possible without unity.

Respected Principal, Vice Principal, Teachers and My Dear Fellow Students!

I am Sakshi from class 9 th , Section-A and your host for today. Today, we all have gathered here on this year’s annual function and the management committee has decided not to conduct classes as a special treatment for the students for putting their best efforts towards building the integrity of our school. Today, I would like to speak on the topic called Unity.

Unity is defined as a quality in people where they can work in groups whether big or small for the combined interest of all and without working just for the sole interest of his/her own. It is an emotion of oneness, togetherness, harmony, for a single and common goal.

Strength, pragmatically speaking, stresses on unity, and every time people act in harmony and unison with one another, their fortitude increases hundred-fold. The famous fable of the farmer and his cantankerous sons will illustrate my ideas very vividly. The farmer asked his dogmatic sons to break a bundle of sticks, and the sons failed. Later he asked them to break each stick separately and they could all break the sticks without putting any extra effort. The father thus drove home to teach them significant lesson that united they stood and divided they fall. So, it is self- evident that unity plays very important role in every phase of human life whereas hatred and standing separate is a loophole in unity which leads us to rack and ruin.

Unity also provides equal rights for all. Standing together boosts morale of people at several places to include workplaces, personal lives and various organisations. It helps in enhancing relationships and stresses on teamwork thus improving performance, quality of work done, and healthy lifestyle. It also improves healthy human relationship and protects equal human rights for all.

Unity in diversity in India specifically provides source of tourism. People from diverse customs, origin, lifestyle, religions and festivals attract more visitors and tourists from other countries of the world. Unity gives boost to the sense of national unity amongst the people even being diverse in almost all the aspects. It respects the value of rich heritage of a country, strengthens and enriches the cultural heritage of the same.

The society is the basic unit of nation, and when there is unity in the organisation of a well organised society, it will without any doubt contribute to the development of the nation which is the ultimate goal. Globally, a number of problems are raising their heads up and there is needed to be united in a method to handle and tackle these crises and at specific levels. It is essential for various nations to be united and together face this situation. It is the ability of any living being which exists in this cosmos.

Unity is Strength a great quality in itself and comes with tremendous advantages. For instance, every human being can lead a secure existence till the time he/she is living in unison. On the other hand, when they are alone they can be easily deceived and overpowered. Thus, we all should follow the basic rule of being united so that no power can ever break us apart and we can strive towards development.

Now, please allow me to conclude my speech and I also request everyone to feel free to ask questions, if they have any.

Long Speech on Unity

A Very Good Morning Respected Principal, Teachers and My Dear Friends!

Today we all are here for the seminar organized by our school for teaching us the importance of unity and team work in our academic and personal life. We all are already aware of the role that unity plays in a team, family, company, country etc. Without unity, existence of life would not have been possible in this world.

Unity is a key to success for any team. If we have to work with other people, then it becomes quite important to cooperate with them because every person has a different thinking and a different view towards every situation. However, it is a bit difficult to live with unity with different people. There are many examples in this world where unity is maintained and where unity is endangered. So, let us take an example where both the cases exist.

As in India, we get to see a huge diversity in religions, castes, languages etc all over the country. Here, Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims, Christians etc lives together with unity. In such a country like India, it becomes quite difficult to maintain unity among people because People belonging to different cultures and religions have the different ideologies. As of course, when two people of different ideologies come together then there will be a clash of different thinking, believes and ideas and hence there will be a danger for the existence of unity on this land. But still, our country is capable of maintaining peace among the people and this is only possible in the existence of unity.

We celebrate Independence Day every year in our country on 15 th August that is the biggest example of the strength of unity of all time. It would not have been possible without the power and the spirit of unity among people. Unity is the main reason for why our country is able to retain freedom in this world. Unlike this, there are still many places where unity does not exist in the country. We get to hear many news related to murders, rapes, robbery, etc daily. All these things are not in the favor of unity. All these crimes happens due the lack of security and as well as unity among people because most of the people do not take interest in helping others where these crimes takes place.

We all students are the future of this country and we have to understand the importance of unity in our life. Unity is the reason for the existence of brotherhood, fraternity and care that we have towards other people. We can also learn lessons of unity from animals too. They exist in this world due to their unity. Having unity is essential for the survival.

On this note, I would like to conclude my speech and extend special thanks to Principal Ma’am for organizing this event and providing us the opportunity for realizing the importance of unity in this world and also to all of you for being so patient and for paying attention towards my words.

Thank you and I wish you all a great day ahead!

A Very Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen!

Today, this gathering in this area has been organized for a special social cause. For waking the spirit of unity in the heart of people, the spirit by which our country was able to achieve freedom after the years of bondage in its history. This spirit among people which is the biggest reason for the life existence on earth needs to get awake. As we know that India is a land of diversity but still people lives together with love and affection towards each other. Almost each one of us knows that we should respect each other’s religions.

I hope that you all have heard a line “united we stand and divided we fall” and it is indeed absolutely true. Unity is a pillar upon which the whole world and especially countries are dependent. If a country is going through any crises than it becomes a bit easy to tackle such problems if the people of the country are united. Those politician who normally opposes each other every time, should also stand with unity. All these things are only possible if people will have faith towards their country.

As I have said earlier that our country India is a multi-religious country and still she have a spirit of unity in her people. The biggest example of unity among country is in her history when we achieved freedom against Britishers and are still retaining it till now. It would not have been possible without unity and faith among people that they had shown at that time. Besides diversities in culture, religion, race etc we can see a unity in diversity among people through the different fusions that could be seen in their cultures, clothes, food, lifestyles etc.

Not only in a country but unity has a very important role in the world and there are many cases where there is a problem affecting the entire world and countries got united to solve the problem. This could be only possible when there is unity among people.

Hence, we know that unity plays an important role in every aspect and always has a very good impact on everyone’s life. Unity has a power to change the entire world but it totally depends on us that against what we all are getting united. It is the high time when we have to get united against all odds that are reducing peace all over the world like terrorism, riots, animal cruelty, murders, robberies, corruption etc rather than against the policies and steps taken by the government for the well being of the country. All these problems can be only tackled and finished from roots when we will unite against it.

On this note, I would like to conclude my words and extend special thanks to our managing team and supporters who unconditionally supported this event. A special thank also goes to you people for gathering here and making this event successful.

Unity in the Community: Chris Singleton shares message with the community advocating for love after losing mother in Mother Emanuel Massacre

U nity in the community is the message Sumter  residents are hearing on Monday. Chris Singleton is a former minor league baseball player who lost his mother in the 2015  Mother Emanuel AME Church Massacre in Charleston. Now, he’s traveling the world to inspire others toward love and forgiveness.

“The message is all about love and unity for me,” Singleton explained.

It’s the idea that he is sharing with the world after a terrible tragedy. In 2015, a white supremacist shot and killed nine people at his church, including his mother, Sharonda Coleman-Singleton .

“Obviously losing my mom the way I did, I just think, man, if that message would have been pushed to the guy that did what he did to my church family, maybe my mom would still be here,” Singleton shared. “So that's why it's so important to me.”

Singleton made a stop in Sumter, giving three presentations — one at Sumter High School , the others at the Sumter Opera House — to people across the community like Shirley Blassingame.

“He's all about love and unity, and that's what the world needs today,” Blassingame said. “A whole lot of love and a whole lot of unity.”

It’s values that Singleton says comes from respecting people’s differing opinions and loving them regardless, a message that attendee Travis Norton says was impactful.

“What hit me the most was that, you know, behind every stance is a story. And that really hit home because that is a message that makes us drive to understand others,” Norton detailed. “It means a lot to me because listening to what other people say when they don't think the same as you, it’s important for us to understand that so I love the idea of the message.”

Sumter resident Gwen Cofield agrees.

“This young man has touched so many lives in everything that he has done and said. He is love. He is a true example of what love is all about,” Cofield shared. “It will impact this community greatly because if everybody could show as much love as this young man with all the things, because there's so much happening out here right now and you know it is. And especially the young people, we really need to have that type of example for the young folks. Chris is the epitome of what forgiveness is all about. We need to have everybody to be like Chris and we're so glad to have him.”

It’s a message Mayor David Merchant echoes, saying the city has been working to get singleton to Sumter since this summer.

“That guy's going to come to Sumter. You know, we need his message in Sumter, we need it in the state, in the country, and we're so excited for people to hear what he's got to say,” Merchant remembered thinking after hearing Singleton speak at a meeting. “It’s who we are in Sumter. That's what we want to be…How do we how do we take care of people and take care of each other and encourage each other? Because in this day and age, so many people are so quick to judge and snap and just, you know, and be ugly and rude and so we just feel like the message of unity and compassion is one that we all need to hear.”

It’s one that Singleton says he’s inspired to keep sharing.

“I think one of the things that motivates me to keep talking about it is I don't want it to get lost in history,” Singleton said. “Unfortunately terrible things happen all the time. And selfishly I want people to remember my church family. They were beautiful people, 9 beautiful souls that are here no longer. So keeping their legacy alive and then just representing my last name the right way is my goal behind doing what I’m doing.”

Singleton signed books for attendees after the presentation, and says thanks to a sponsorship from Toys for Tots , he’ll be dropping off free childrens’ books in the stops he’s making this month.

“Everywhere I'm going I'm trying to drop off hundreds of children's books everywhere I go,” Singleton shared. “So without Toys for Tots, a lot of kids wouldn't get the free books they’re getting, so I definitely want to thank them for doing the work they do with me.”
